Spread Your Idea: Bringing your TED-style idea from the blank page to the stage

Rate this book
Have you always wanted to give a TED talk?

A TED-style talk is a short talk about an idea. Most people want to give one - and with good reason. According to the New York Times, in the last three decades, TED talks have become cultural phenomenon and an increasingly important credential for those in business and entertainment.

Given the inherent social proof that becoming a TED-style speaker holds, giving one of these talks can be the highlight of your career. What’s more is that if you have an idea, giving a TED-style talk is one of the best ways to get it out there in the world. Because of the prestige that comes with it, most people I speak to tell me that giving their TED-style talk is a bucket list item - something that they reserve wistfully for one day.

Going from the application process to the acceptance to giving the talk is a rewarding and exciting, yet sometimes exhaustive and time-consuming process. But it’s easier than you think.

In my work as a consultant, I’ve had a 100% success rate in getting my clients placed in at least one TEDx conference - many of them have done two or more. And I practice what I I’ve done it for myself. In August of 2018, I did 2 TEDx talks in less than 2 weeks - and I plan on doing many more throughout the rest of my career.

My talks positioned me as an expert. My business is working with speakers, so my talks brought me from being just another consultant to being a consultant who understands the process intimately, from start to finish. And I’m not the only one. My clients have reported that doing their TEDx talk has been the single best thing they’ve ever done for their thought leadership or their business.

There’s nothing special about I’m a 30-something solopreneur consultant living in New York. My higher education degrees are in music, and I enjoy exercise and sports in my free time. The point you don’t have to be Steve Jobs or Elon Musk to give a TEDx talk. TED-style talks operate on the principle that anyone can have great ideas.

So, if you have a business, and/or if you have great ideas, you need to give a TED-style talk.

In this book, we’ll go from idea to application to audition to talk. I’ll share with you the process that I go through with all of my clients - the same process that gets all of my clients booked.
