Witch Way Did He Go?

It’s me again, Stevie Cartwright.Powerless ex-witch, pseudo medium, and amateur sleuth, reporting to you live from the case of the missing ex-British spy turned ghost/quite possibly one of the most important people to ever become a part of my life. You read that right. As Win and I and all the gang were busy planning our big Thanksgiving bash, he suddenly disappeared (right in the middle of telling me what a Philistine I am for even suggesting Cheez Whiz and crackers), and it’s as if he never existed.Poof—he’s just gone! No one can find him, not even Arkady, our ghostly pal and confidant on Plane Limbo. If I ever needed to make good use of everything my British spy ever taught me about sleuthing, it’s right now. But I run into roadblock after roadblock until I’m almost sure all hope is lost, and I’ll never hear his voice again.Worse, how will I ever live with myself if I never get the chance to tell him how I feel?

Witch Way Did He Go by Dakota Cassidy

8th book in the cozy paranormal mystery series Witchless in Seattle. These should be read in order as the stories and characters progress through the storyline.
A witch that has no power, two ghosts, a familiar, a dog and a turkey make up the household in this wacky series.
Irreverent.

Win, the British spy ghost suddenly disappeared but there are clues being left for Stevie to unravel.
I saw where this was going in the beginning of the story. Not sure why none of them thought of it. I guess Stevie was just too overwrought. And frankly too whiny for me. Geesh.

In the end it was a short mystery that progressed the story as expected. The author assures us that the mystery and stories will continue.
I like the combination of characters so will wait for the next book. Maybe about who killed Win finally?

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and the gang is gathered around the kitchen table making a grocery list for their upcoming feast. They are arguing about whether Cheez Whiz is appropriate Thanksgiving fair when Win suddenly disappears. At first, Stevie believes he is mad and has slipped off to limbo…but soon no one can find him.

What if he has crossed into the light or met with foul play? Or worse what if he has tried to slip into a vessel (body) so he can be with Stevie in this realm? What id he failed? As Batfry tries to console her, they stumble on clues which only confuse them more. Stevie fears that Warlock Westfield has enacted his revenge and taken Win from her.

When Arkady cannot find him Stevie fears that all hope is lost. In desperation she contacts someone who might help. But what will it cost her? Dang, this was an addictive listen and filled with emotions. With Win gone, Stevie is forced to face her true feelings, and it was tough seeing her crumble.

Hollie Jackson once again narrated, and she did a fantastic job with Stevie’s emotions. Belfry still grates on my nerves and I noticed it more in this installment. Mostly because she was speaking more. But, her accents for everyone add to the cozy tone and I slip right in. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

The 8th book in a series that I have loved up to this book. It is well-written and all my favourite characters are in it but very little happens. Win is missing and the group need to find out what has happened to him. It really isn't much of a mystery. It is mostly angst from his friends and loved ones until the perfect ending.

AudioBook Review:
Stars: Overall 4 Naration 5 Story 4

Stevie is ready to start planning for Thanksgiving but there’s one problem: Win, her British spy turned ghost has disappeared and is nowhere to be found. It’s even worse as she’s now regretting having never told him just how important he is to her…. And we are off and running almost from the first moment as the emotional content of this story jumps into high gear. Stevie and Win are pretty much the ‘go to’ in this series – while others are mixing into the adventures and mysteries, it’s been these two since the start, and as their time together has gone on, their friendship has developed into a touchstone for the series.

The worst of this for Stevie is her inability to bounce ideas off Win – she’s getting ‘clues’ that she wouldn’t normally question before following after them – but she’s wondering if they are possibly from Win, have any real bearing on his disappearance, or even if they really are clues and not just some weirdness (it’s happened before) place din her path to divert her attention. What emerges here is the value and reliance that Stevie places on Win to keep her focused, moving forward and even reasonably stable. Without him, she is more than a little lost and untethered – prone to highs and lows that are emotionally trying for her and the listener. And when rumors start to pop up that Win may just have moved on…… it’s not pretty.

Hollie Jackson narrates this series to great effect – with a solid sense of Stevie and her frustration with her lost powers and worries for Win, and in many ways, of herself. This was an emotional ride - far more involved with the ups and downs of Stevie’s psyche than in the twists and turns around Win’s disappearance and what that might mean for our heroine. Jackson clearly presents the emotional moments, allowing Stevie’s questions and hesitations (as well as her insecurity) to shine forward, without actually demanding the emotions from the performance. Things have certainly taken a jump away from the last book where boredom threatened all that she held dear, and the fast paced dialogue, emotional switches and Stevie’s own questions kept the story moving forward.

I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Tantor Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I kind of feel bad that I didn’t like this one. I have LOVED this series so much. I have binged the whole thing in a week. But this book was not a great ending.. our girl was a mess. Like a mess. And Win wasn’t in this one until the end. I love that they finally get to be together but I wish we would have gotten more than an short epilogue with them together. I am hoping that there will be another book but I can’t find anything about one so I think it’s not happening. There are a lot of unanswered questions.

Does anyone know if there’s another book coming? Help a girl out.

I really enjoy the series but this was my least favorite book, and would have been 2 stars except for the happy ending. It was obvious from the beginning what was going on yet it took the characters practically 4 hrs of depressing audiobook time to figure it out. This was frustrating for me and I didn't start enjoying the book until practically the very end.

That said, the book sets up future mysteries nicely and I look forward to the next installment.

Stevie Cartright has been ignoring the fact that she is in love with her spirit of her International Man of Mystery a/k/a ex-spy Crispin Alistair Winterbottom for more than two years.  Together they have solve mysteries and murders, rescued animals and even while straddling two different planes of existence, they have created a life together.   But she will come to regret keeping her feelings to herself.

When Win disappears in the middle of their argument of what to serve for their upcoming Thanksgiving banquet, Stevie at first believes that Win has gone off to have a tantrum on Plane Limbo. All too soon she realizes that there is more going on than just a ghostly sulk and her life may never be the same.

None of the reasons for her missing BFF are good. Win has either decided to finally go over into the light; he is trying to return to the Earthly Plane by jumping into a new body, ignoring with all the things that could go terribly wrong and that he could lose his very soul; or worst yet, what if warlock Adam Westfield, who stole Stevie's magic and has vowed to destroy Stevie and everything she loves, has done something to Win.

How is Stevie going to solve her most important mystery of her life without the help of her Spy Guy on a plane she can't reach? When Stevie starts finding odd "clues," she isn't certain what they mean or if they are even from Win. What if this is just a trap set by Adam? If it will save Win, Stevie is willing to play Adam's game. In fact, there isn't anything Stevie won't do for a chance to tell Win once and for all that she loves him, but is she simply too late?

This was the Afterschool Special version of our fun-loving spirit/witch team. Such an emotional story as we can do nothing but watch Stevie breakdown over losing Win. She is following clues as best she can when she is worlds away from where Win disappeared. She isn't certain that they clues she finds are even from Win or what they could possibly mean. When rumor hits that Win might have simply decided to finally move on into the light -- without even saying goodbye -- Stevie absolutely loses it.

This isn't the final story of the series but things will be very different from here on out. I can only imagine what will happen next.

This is another entertaining story in the Witchless in Seattle series. I was quickly drawn into this story and didn’t want to put the book down. Stevie is beside herself trying to figure out what happened to Win. I laughed, my heart went out to Stevie. I enjoyed following along on this rollercoaster of a story. I look forward to reading what happens next.

Win has disappeared! Has he gone to the light?

With plenty of persnickety input from Win, Stevie is planning a big Thanksgiving celebration at her mansion for friends and family when, suddenly, with no warning of any kind, Win disappears. At first, Stevie is convinced that Win and Arkady are punking her. But Win has never stayed silent for days at a time, and Arkady can’t find him in spirit world, on Plane Limbo. Stevie is desolate. How will she bear her life without Win? She also tragically regrets that she never had the courage to tell him that she loves him—not just as a BFF, but romantically.

This particular book, while entertaining, with a very exciting climax and an upbeat ending, spends a great deal of page time on Stevie’s overwhelming grief at the loss of Win. That brings down the usually humorous tone of this series into a very dark place, which is a bit jarring. However, overall, the story is still well written, and there is a big payoff at the end in terms of Win’s situation which, by the way, has been quite well foreshadowed and magically motivated from early on and throughout this series.

I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, which is presented by the talented, Hollie Jackson, who narrates the entire series. It is a pleasure to listen to. She does an outstanding job performing male and female characters, both low- and high-pitched timbers, and every kind of foreign accent, especially Win’s British accent and Arkady’s Russian accent.

This book took the series to a new low.

The main team is operating without Win which only showcases how stupid and useless everyone else in the group is, including the actual main character of the series!

I severely dislike any plotlines that have to do with stupid Adam, so any book where he appears is already a losing proposition.

I also severely dislike that Stevie gets physically hurt by somebody in every single book of this series, and I keep hoping that the author will break that idiotic pattern at some point, but, apparently, this is not that book. Seriously, what's up with gratuitous woman getting beaten up scenes? Is that some sort of fetish for the author? Yuck.

The usual supporting cast is absent from this book and the stupidity with which three main character refuses to leverage her magical connections (which offered their help before! just for such occasions!) is swiftly traversing the too stupid to live territory at this point.

If not for the final development in this book giving me tentative hope, this would have been the last book I read in this series. As it stands, I am willing to give it another chance, but so far everything after the first two book had been disappointing, so I am not holding out much hope.

I suspect I may be in the minority, but this one is definitely not my favorite of the series. I suspected that Win's "mysterious and unexpected identical twin!" was only created as a useful plot device when he first showed up and then disappeared with barely even a reference for five? books, but it was a bit of a let down to have that suspicion confirmed. Kind of feels like a cop out, honestly, and he could have added an awesome extra layer of intrigue or three if the author had used him to his full potential. But alas, he was only a means to an end.

There was also a lot of emotional melodrama. I get that Stevie needed to grieve and I absolutely don't fault her meltdown, but the whole "not wanting to live in a world without Win" mindset was pretty disappointing, even as the author tried to express that she knew it was a cop out and uncharacteristic.

The story wasn't very cohesive either. It came off more like a lecture; "So this is all the stuff I wanted to happen but I couldn't figure out how, so here is a summary instead."

When Stevie’s British Spy guy just up and disappears the search is on to find him. But will Stevie and crew be able to figure out the random clues and find Win before it is too late?

Review will be posted at www.books-n-kisses.com .

Holy cheese balls!!! I loved this book. I missed having Hollie Jackson read this to me, because the sound of Win in my head is not nearly as good as Hollie’s Win!! But I just couldn’t wait to see what happens in Witch Way Did He Go. I am very happy that I didn’t!!

This story made me tear up, laugh out loud and cheer out loud!! I can’t wait to see what Ms. Cassidy has in store for us next.

I love this series but this book ANNOYED me. To be specific, Stevie annoyed me to no end in the audiobook version. The book as a whole is good but the Stevie character was insufferable - weak, whining, spoiled, full of herself even though she's wrong all the time (not the narrator, just the character but maybe it's not as bad reading the words instead of listening). My annoyance with certain aspects of her personality started in previous books but this was like going from 15MPH to a speeding ticket worth several points on my license. Could not wait till the story came to a end and fingers crossed that the character matures and grows a brain again in the next book.

Another phenomenal addition to the Witchless in Seattle. Let just say I was a emotional mess the whole time. It definitely keep me on edge the whole time as I followed Stevie and the gang on the most intense adventure of a lifetime. So since I'm not one to give spoilers you'll just have to check it out for yourself to see what I'm talking about. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

An excellent story! Stevie, Belfry, Win, and Arkady are planning Thanksgiving dinner. Disagreements about what should be served has Win calling Stevie's choices philistine ! The planning gets tabled for awhile but things are about to happen. Win goes missing , Stevie is upset and many strange things are happening. As nothing seems to be helping Stevie find Win she finally calls for Baba Yaga! The best is yet to come and you will love the action and surprises as the ending is perfect! I give this story a 10! I look forward to the next book in the series!

It was a great book!! Although I read the first real cuss word In the series, that was very disappointing. One of the reasons I love the series is because it is clean. not to mention fun, and I just love Stevie! She is so sweet and quirky. It is one of Dakote Cassidys more emotional stories. Not that it is a bad thing or that there is no emotion in her other books. I have noticed A build-up, for lack of a better term, of emotion, throughout the series. Anyway she did a great job! I really felt Stevie's sorrow and joy. I can't wait to read the next one!!
Thank you.

Focusing too much on the sad and negative emotions and Steve's over the top reaction for a cozy mystery. I'm looking for a light easy read (or listen) with a cozy mystery. There was also very little (or none) mystery solving involved. And some of the obvious clues were ones Stevie completely missed. Not once did she guess or even consider what I found obvious which was very frustrating. So we're the hysterics. I felt it would have been much better as a short story. I did still like it somewhat but don't think it fits in well.

4.5 Stars... This was an emotional rollercoaster from the beginning... Win is missing, the clues are confusing to say the least, Stephania is falling apart, and no answer lies in sight... Dakota Cassidy takes her readers on an emotional journey to reunite Stevie and Win leading to the ultimate battle to save Win's soul... This book allowed readers to immerse themselves into the romantic relationship between Win and Stevie and find some resolution to their unique connection... I am eager to see how this storyline develops and whether or not the characters find their HEA:)

WitchlessSeattle8 (Hollie Johnson, narrator)

The cover is lovely, probably my favorite so far. But, the story? This. Was. So. Boring!

It took Stevie three chapters to take Arkady seriously, regarding Win’s disappearance. I hung in there for two more before I skipped ahead to chapter 11 - and I’m not going back, you can’t make me.

I appreciate that Stevie is in battle shape, since she has a physical fight in every book. But… her whining almost did me in. Glad that is over.

And we still have Adam to deal with🙄

This book made me into an emotional wreck blubbering into my hot cocoa and shoveling Twinkies into my mouth as I followed Stevie and friends on the most important case of their lives. Find Win!
This story kept me on the edge of my seat flipping pages as fast as I could read. A wonderful addition to the series and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Stevie and company. So many possibilities.

It is so obvious even early on how this was going to turn out and Stevie is so overraught
that she doesn't solve the mystery at all this time. I wasn't really happy about how Win gets his new body and author doesn't really address this and try to smoothe things over until the next book. I am not really excited to read the next one even though I've made it through the 3 paid ones and the next 4 or so (like the first 3) are free to listen with audible plus.

Winterbottom!! Spy guy!!

Stevie, Bel, Arkady and Win~ Man of Mystery are back, planning Thanksgiving menu and T-Lists. When Win disappears and leave the rest of the gang scrambling to unlock the mystery of where he went. It left me Sad Panda for a hot min to OMGEEE!! By far my favorite and cannot wait for next year to get my hands on next installment. Bravo Dakota, Bravo!

Fun series

I really enjoy Dakota Cassidy's stories. They all have lots of humor in them and the characters are well written and fun. In this series an ex-witch and a ghost spy solve mysteries with her familiar and friends help. If you enjoy cosy mysteries with a little paranormal thrown in you will like these books.

Good Filler

The book is good It fills in alot of holes but it was really short and It still left alot of things still unanswered. I love this series of books but this one should be listed as a novella not a book. I am looking forward to more of this series.

Invasion of the bodysnatchers.

This one is a doozie. Stevie has a constant emotional low that none of her friends can get her out of, the reason for it is J K Rowling nightmare inducing (favorite character reference). You also realise just how dysfunctional Stevie's family is when she would rather interact with Baba Yaga than her own parents.

This book was more of a 3.5 in my usual 5 star reviews of the series. There was a bit too much angst and turmoil in the last few chapters. However, I’ll stick with these characters through thick and thin. Here’s to the next chapter...

Fun and interesting story about the adventures of an ex-with and her adventures in Ebonezer Falls, Washington. Who would have thought that so many mysteries and deaths could happen in a small Washington town?
