Malorie Cooper likes to think of herself as a dreamer and a wanderer, yet her feet are firmly grounded in reality.
A ‘maker’ from an early age, Malorie loves to craft things, from furniture, to cosplay costumes, to a well-spun tale, she can’t help but to create new things every day.
A rare extrovert writer, she loves to hang out with readers and people in general. If you meet her at a convention, she just might be rocking a catsuit, cosplaying one of her own characters, or maybe her latest favorite from Overwatch!
She shares her home with a brilliant young girl, her wonderful wife (who also writes), a cat that chirps at birds, a never-ending list of things she would like to build, and ideas…
I will open by saying that this is an exciting story, at least equal to any of the others in the Aeon 14 Universe. Reading science fiction ALWAYS requires more willing suspension of disbelief than any other genre of fiction. After almost 40 stories I think I have come to the end of my willingness in this particular universe. I am not averse to strong female characters, and never have been, however in this Universe, all but one of the multitude of focal characters have been female, and the one major character who was male, was killed off at the end of his arc. I applaud that Trevor and Usef at least had a good arc in this story, but not only are all of the lead characters female, the greatest majority of the strong supporting characters are female as well. I can no longer pretend that men have very little place in the future. If this series offered more balance, I could continue with it, but I will no longer believe the future belongs to the Mary Sues.
Author M.D. Cooper brings us the next adventure of Jessica and her crew aboard Sabrina. As their time in the Virginia's system comes to a close the AST decides that the time is right to attack. As they do that Jessica leads her crew rush headlong into the fight but Jessica has brought in a mercenary fleet that will help them turn back the AST. While this is happening in the New Canaan system the aftermath of an AST attack is slowing Admiral Tanis Richards down from sending in dreadnoughts to help Jessica. It isn't until near the end of the battle that a captured AST ship along with the IFS Andromeda jumps though a stargate and wind up in the middle of the battle turning the tide. This is a great episode in this series and I am looking forward to reading the next. I highly recommend this book to everyone who likes military science fiction.
Good finish to the arc in the Virginis system. Plenty of action and tension as things come to a head in the system between the differing parties, and became a real page-turner. Plenty of friends and foes (old and new) get in the mix, with some good cameos from other characters from the Aeon14 universe. The ending nicely ties off a few loose ends, while setting things up for future arcs which I'm sure will continue to be great.
Five star read all the way through. This book had it all, character development, action space battles, AI tech everything you want from one of Mr. Cooper’s books. This book is fast-paced I finished it in one sitting. Can hardly wait for the next book but I’ll guess I’ll have to. Those people who like a I military hard science fiction will really enjoy the series read it.
Calling the story of Sabrina and her crew an adventure is a misnomer, as the whole book is about last minute inspiration, executed at the last possible second with spectacular explosive result (a detour inside a planet core? Check. What about that star's core?)
MD Cooper continues to impress and delivers the next installment that entertains and excites in the Sabrina and Jessica story arc. Action packed and good read.
Clearly, not the Sabrina's team, as they again did their signature trick. Was it helpful? Did it save the day? Read it by yourself. My favourite short Perseus gat thriller so far.
Sabrina, Jessica, Cheeky and crew continue to get into some pretty precarious situations. Another good book! Well done, I truly like the Aeon 14 series.
For me, the Persus Gate books attraction has been the characters. This is the first book where I felt like it was all about a battle and little about the characters and their interactions. If I hadn't already felt connected to the characters this book in the series would not have generated a connection.
What fun the Perseus Gate series continues to be. I’ve loved every book and the exciting adventures of the various teams at Virginis and New Canaan that come together in this book made the conclusion all the more thrilling.
