Remina (Remy) Vasile is having a bad day… a bad week… heck, a bad life! Turning thirteen is hard enough without going through the rejection from her classmates… all because she’s a witch… and not even a witch, at that! Remina hasn’t received ANY of her powers yet. It just wasn’t fair. Her sister Cassie had HER powers! It wasn’t fair!
Desperate to prove that today she CAN be a witch, Remy attempts to move her birthday cake with her mind. Nothing happens. As her father consoles her, Remy glares at the offensive cake…. And white-hot fire springs from her eyes and moves the cake! Remy is ecstatic! She did it! She did it! But her father didn’t see the cake move and continues to try to console her. Remy is just so angry….! She didn’t mean to hurt her father, it was an accident! Why won’t anyone believe her?
Years have passed, and Remy has reached the ripe old age of 18 and is still undeveloped. Constant bickering and outright fights between Remy and her mom have strained their relationship to the thinnest thread. Remy grew up on an island inhabited by witches, her family strong and one of the leading families in their coven. Sadly Remy is "undeveloped", which means that her talents don't show. It is causing a rift within the family and Remy leaves the island at 18. When her sister brings her back a few years later she starts a series of events that are completely changing Remy's life, revealing family secrets and letting her meet her soul mate.
The story is a mix of coming of age, coming into one's abilities, intrigue of good and evil and romance. It keeps the reader busy guessing what is happening next and why.
Entertaining and fun to read.

I really loved this story. A quick and easy to read magical romance with some strong family bonds and unwavering love and support. I really envied Remy and Cassie's close sisterly ties. And then there was Sebastian, the perfect hero to Remy's heroine. Nice! Can't wait for the next book in this series!

Hexed by Alyssa Drake is a story that makes you go WOW!!!! when you read it. I loved this story from the minute I started reading it, I could not put it down till I was done with the story. I loved it so much and I highly recommend this for everyone who loves to read paranormal romances.

This was great. I couldn't put it down. I loved Remy. How could she not stay home, and take the chance at true love? Of course uncovering all the secrets that have been hidden from her her whole life is an added bonus. Still you always take the chance!!!! I just could not stop reading!!

Remy was always under estimated. When she returns home to visit her sister, she has been told her family secret. She is next in line for queen of her coven. Sebastian is her mate and he must convince her of things she didnt realize. All things work out and they bring in a new era for the coven.

Hexed is the first novella in the Paranormal Tales from Firefly Island series, and it tells the story of Remy - an undeveloped Witch who just wants to be normal. And by normal, she means being able to do spells like the rest of her family and friends. She doesn't have a very good time of it and leaves home for pastures new when she is eighteen. However, that doesn't go quite according to plan either, so she ends up returning to Firefly Island to spend some time with her sister. One of the first people she bumps into is Sebastian, and things move quickly onward from there.

This is a fast-paced novella, with some steamy scenes in it. You will learn more about Remy's past, and the reason things were done in the way they were. Remy and Sebastian have their HFN ending, but it does leave it wide open for at least three more stories!

All in all, this was a very enjoyable, quick read, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading. A nice introduction to Firefly Island, and I look forward to getting better acquainted in future books. Absolutely recommended by me.

This was a fast paced entertaining read with a dash of insta love. Remy's life is shrouded in secrets, and the only one in the dark is her. Being dragged home by her witch sister and fallingfor the mysterious Sebastian who seduces her even knowing she does not have powers, Remy's life takes a turn for the unexpected. While I loved the characters and the pace of the story, I had one issue with Sebastian interfering in Remy's life without explaining the new world she belongs to. I loved his grandma though.

I loved Remy's story. From page one I was hooked and drawn into the world of Firefly Island. I really enjoyed the twists that this story took and the overall feel of the book. I don't know why but while I was reading I could feel an underlying excitement and anticipation to the story. I really like seeing Cassie and Sebastian interacting together and I really loved how sweet Sebastian is to Remy. Great introduction to this world and definitely made me want to read more in this series.

I fell in love with the story.
The character development is exceptional. By the end of the book, I was attached to REmy. The writing style is good, and the plot has an abundance of action filled scenes to keep it going.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes paranormal.

Much better than the previous book by this author I've read.
Remy went through a bit rough upbringing due to being undeveloped - her magical abilities have not manifested, and she was looked upon as an outcast. When at the age of 13 her father suddenly dies and Remy is blamed for his death, her life turns to misery. Five years later, fed up with her mother's attitude, she loses her nerves, packs her things and leaves for another 5 years, coming then back under very turbulent circumstances - and dark secrets of the past start to surface. Now it's up to Remy to finally make a decision for herself, and it's probably the most important decision of her life...
Dark, dangerous, and captivating story, with a high heat level (therefore recommended to adult readers only), that shows the light and dark sides of magic and the society of its wielders. Power and status are strong and important drivers for some coven members, and steer the plot development in the undercurrent, while Remy's love and family life drive the story on the surface. That mentioned, I literally hated how everyone treated her, under the excuse of protection, and although Remy's reactions might look like childish tantrums thrown by a spoiled child, I'm not sure I'd react differently, with my temper. I'd want to kill everyone and then go away on non-speaking terms. Protection be damned. There was one other thing that bothered me, and that were the jumps in between the first three chapters. It always took me some time to understand what is happening and where, to which time point and situation, the story suddenly jumped. It all came together in the end, explaining all the jumps, but the scenes, however important, felt like pulled out of context, and I was not sure I'd like the story in the end if this pattern would have continued. That said, I am glad it didn't, and I was able to enjoy the novella.

This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read! A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a fiction enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. ¡Great book!
