I am originally from a small town in northeast Indiana. Typical introvert kid; closer to books than people — grew up with a fascination for horror novels (Stephen King, Dean Koontz) and medieval fantasy (Piers Anthony, R.A Salvatore).

In April of 1996, I moved out on my own to Phoenix, Arizona to find my own path.

On a personal level, I have been married to my wonderful wife, Erika since October 10th, 2012. I have two stepchildren, Jenna and Johnny, and a two-year-old baby girl, Jessiena.

I have completed my first novel, Consequences Within Chaos and will be extending the story in my upcoming sequel, The Bleeding Crown. Also on Amazon & Kindle, I have In Four Days: Horror Suspense Novella.

Elude: Part Two by Derek Barton is, as the title indicates, the second part of a yet to be completed or fully explained crime/horror tale. This really is quite an interesting read as it blurs and skirts the edges of and redefines certain genres. This doesn’t really fit into any one particular genre as it really bends, twists and blends a few together quite masterfully. As in the first part, do not expect all the answers to be answered at the conclusion of this book. It ends answering some but not all at the same time raising even more questions. You will certainly be asking yourself what the heck it going on here and if it is the hook and bait of the author to get you to come back for more in the next installment it certainly has accomplished that. From my observations of reviews of this type of book (series, continuations, etc.), it is that some people do not like them because they want instant gratification and a defined conclusion...I am the kind of reader who looks beyond the final sentence and sits in wonderment and eagerly awaits the author’s vision to expand and explain. We as readers sometimes become a bit lazy and don't allow ourselves to become a part of the experience, exploration and enjoyment of the plot. I really enjoy Derek’s writing style and am so, so looking forward to more. And just a note, don’t be a dick-dick, if you want to know what that refers to grab a copy and read, read, read. I recommend this and all of Derek’s other books.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The opinions are my own.

In this second installment of the series you start to learn more about what is really going on. There is definitely some pretty weird stuff happening. It is getting pretty intense. I don't want to say too much as to give away the plot. I like how the author slowly reveals the bits and pieces.

After receiving parts one and two for free I went out and bought part three. I gotta know where this story goes.

This is an action-packed book, continuing from Part One. Vic is trying to stay ahead of the police while also trying to clear his name. With the help of a troubled cop and a young computer hacker, he might be able to do just that. But, the people behind his problems, along with the assistance of a supernatural entity, have other plans!

The narrator does his usual amazing job with bringing the characters and the story to life and really adds a lot to this short book. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this engaging story!

Things really heat up here—twists, close calls, and emotional reveals keep the pace fast and the stakes high. This section deepens the plot and keeps you guessing.

Elude # 2

I'm hoping there is a sequel being written. As in his first book ELUDE, he ended it on a " What Happens Next? ". I thought this book was the conclusion but nope it wasn't. Usually those series are the ones I avoid. However, I really liked the book so I guess I'll wait.
