"The Other Side of Her" by Hari Kumar K. reached my home as a surprise package. I didn't subscribe for the book but my stars were shining so I got this lovely book at my doorsteps uninvited. Though Diwali vacation has affected the deadline of the review, it gave me a good company during Diwali trip. It was my first book by Hari Kumar, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

The protagonist of the story is Revati, an award-winning author. She was enjoying an ideal life on personal and professional front. But life took a complete turn when she lost her husband in an accident. She lost her touch over writing skills as well. As for change, she was asked to take a long break, so she decided to stay with her elder sister until she can get out of her depression. From this point a love story looking book switched to a horror kind of thriller. A ghost of a dead girl name Paravati came into touch with Revati. To bring the justice to girl, Revati started investigating 15 years murder mystery. Read the book to know more.

Good points about the book
1) Simple language usage.
2) To the point narration style.
3) Character of Revati & Paravati
4) Good mix of multiple genres
5) The short length of the book made it an easy read.

An awesome companion for a short trip. I really enjoyed reading this book, can surely recommend to light book readers.

I will give 4 stars out of 5 to Hari Kumar's "The Other Side of Her".

Revati Krishna was a best-selling author, but nothing she could have written could compare to what happened to turn her nearly perfect life into a nightmare of epic proportions. Devastated by grief at the loss of her true love, Revati moves to her sister’s home to heal, but she becomes “haunted” by Parvati, a young girl who was brutally murdered over a decade before and she believes the man on death row is not the killer. But will Parvati’s spirit lead her to the real murderer? Is Revati prepared for the truth?

THE OTHER SIDE OF HER by Hari Kumar K. is a brilliant mystery, rich in detail, and filled with dark twists as one woman teeters on emotional collapse as she becomes the conduit between the living and the dead.

There are times the writing hits a few speed bumps, but in totality, this is a wonderful escape into dark fantasy and suspense as readers are swept off to India and into a kaleidoscope of emotional turmoil.

I received a complimentary copy from Hari Kumar K.!

The story follows Revati Krishna, a successful author of many outstanding romance novels. With a thriving career, she was blessed to have a supportive family and her dream man, Aarav. Everything was moving smoothly until one day, tragedy struck and sent her and her stellar career off course. This was a big change and along with it came the second half of the story which continued as Revati travelled to her sister’s house and spent a few days there. Her expectation was it was going to be peaceful and somewhat therapeutic but soon enough a cold case of murder that happened more than a decade ago rattles her life. Then things starts to happen….. things that one’s rational mind cannot explain. Creepy and horrific revelations sprung up as Revati delved deeper into the truth.

Will Revati find out what happened? Or is this going to destroy the last string of her mind?

The story starts so casually that you will think that this is a sort of cozy read with predictable twists and turns but the author knew how to stir the suspense meticulously so that it creates a sudden, jolting “i didn’t expect that” moment. The moment Revati moves to the hill station, surmounts the beginning of an unexpected spiral of events which changed everything. The side characters were given ample spotlight to flourish in the story and it was really something that stood out to me because I like when the other characters are given importance rather than putting them under the thumb. Apart from this, I loved the atmospheric scenario, it gave this eerie, dreadful vibes.

There are these timelines just above the start of every chapter which further simplify the plot progression. I was completely immersed in the story, it was fascinating to watch how the whole book was carefully unfurling with every chapter, I began to like the protagonist. Revati was not your garden variety heroine, she was smart, courageous and absolutely one of the best lead I have read in a nail biting thriller in a very long time.

Overall, the story is a page turner because there was neither a stagnant point in the narration nor any dull, irrelevant character, the secrecy was kept detailed till the end and I would definitely highly recommend this book.

“Sometimes all it takes is a Stranger’s tale to bring your life back on track.”

An enjoyable read which had lots of twists and turns and was a blend of many genres. I finished reading this book in one sitting, it surely is a page turner.

The story is about Revati, who is a bestselling romance writer. She gets married to the love of her life. She is happy with everything she has a sparkling career, huge fan base, loving husband and a very supportive family and soon she is going to be a mother.

But an unfortunate car accident turns her life upside down and she loses her husband and her unborn child. This cruel incident leaves Revati shattered and nothing is same anymore. She is suffering from depression and is not able to write anything.

To start over her life she moves to a sleepy hill station where her sister lives with her family.

But there is a new mystery awaiting her. She starts having visions about a girl who was killed 15 years ago. Who is this girl? Who killed her? Will Revati be able to bring justice to that girl? Putting her own life in danger, Revati’s quest to find the truth and evidence against the killer is definitely a must read.

The language is very simple and lucid. The plot and the characters are amazing. Definitely recommended!

Until next time,

Happy Reading!

My Views - The plot is beautifully narrated and the Story begins with the end keeping the reader engaged. It begins with a prologue & ends with an epilogue.

The thriller narrates the story of the author who got entangled with a incident which happened 15 years ago. She was guided by the spirit of the dead girl seeking justice for her death. She finds evidence which otherwise could never be found.

The end was unpredictable. The book is a light read & is definately recommended.

Title - The other side of her
Author - HARI KUMAR K

Qotd - How is life treating you???

"What would have they done if their sisters or mothers were raped and murdered? Would they have protested then as well? I am very disappointed at the reaction of these so-called activists who talk about human rights for rapists, murderers and terrorists "

I loved this book and finished in a single sitting which is really unusual for me for any kindle edition.

Story -
Revati, the Queen of romance is a famous writer who has everything that one can dream of, loving husband, success and she is pregnant now. But her happiness turned into grief when in an unfortunate accident she lost her husband and baby. On the suggestion of her psychiatrist, she moved to her sister 's place in the hill station but she started hallucinating things and soon found herself entangling the murder rape case which happened 15 years ago. She started investigating by her intuition and started following the clues which lead her close to the murderer. but her own life is in danger now. Would she be able to find the murderer and give justice to the dead girl.???
Would she be able to find the other side of her?

My review :

The book is full of thrill, horror and romance. The author has done justice with every genre and the blend of these genres makes this novel so intriguing and fascinating.

The story of lovers is tragically beautiful. The love that exists even when the soul departs the body. The love so pure that would fill your heart with love. The book depicts the separation, death, rape, murder but still has a soothing ending.

The author used psychology to depicts most of the horror elements but there is always that we just can't describe but can only feel.

Well, i tried to find the murderer but kudos to the author for hiding the real identity of the murderer until the very end.

Every character is well developed but i could not understand why father has to be so coward.
Language is easy and the narration is smooth.
The plot is gripping and will make you glued to the story.
The title is apt according to the plot.
Well, recommended highly!!

The other side of her. .

Thank you for the review copy @srishtipub. I thoroughly enjoyed this book :) .
.
The protagonist in the story is an award winning author called Revathi. When Revathi who was termed as the Queen of romance, loses her husband in a terrible car accident, she succumbs to depression. Immediately she faces writer’s block and even after months pass by, she cannot write down a single story. When the doctor prescribes for a scene change, Revathi then moves to Kerala to be with her elder sister. What I thought would be a cheesy romantic novel, turned into a thriller one! . .

Soon after moving to Kerala, she faces out of body experiences and gets haunted by ghost of a girl called Parvati. When she realises that Parvati had a terrible tragedy, she knows within the bones of her body that she has to find justice. Rest of the story shows the struggles of Revathi as she unveils the culprit after running around in a never ending maze.
.
.

The characters in the book are thoughtful and structured. The suspense is what made me finish the book in just a day. The plot is beautifully executed and kept me guessing about the villain. The author has done a tremendous job in penning down this book by truly capturing the essence of mystery.
.
.

I would rate this book 4.5/5.

The other side of her by Hari Kumar is such a thrilling horror story, which spooke you deep inside and bring the goosebumps out of fear at times.

The story begins on a simple note with normal plot, but as things progress the book becomes really addictive and is hard to keep it away till the end.

Plot is really amazing and I liked how things take turnaround with twist and surprises, characters are also very important and are handled pretty well by the author and that too of protagonist Revati. Narration is so fluent and spooky which gives it a real horror feel.

The climax is really interesting and worth it, for reading it till the end, the cover is simple but attractive. Overall a must read book, if you are a fan of thrillers and horror genre.

The story is exactly what its blurb promised it would be. Just horrifying thriller! Though at some point of time all twists seemed to be as predictable as the whole plot but don't worry, you can't able to guess what the climax is.

The women in this book are strictly functional and here author's gripping narrative demonstrates how by changing our thoughts, we can change our surroundings. Every emotional scene plays out well. The whole book perfectly wrapped up loose ends. Cover and title, both are nice.Overall, it's a good read.

The book is quite well written, I must mention. Its the story of a bestseller author Revati Krishna who is often deemed as the 'Queen of Romance' by her readers. When she was on the climax of her life with almost everything one would desire for, a horrific accident turns her life upside down.

What I liked about the book is -
1. The descriptive narration lets one imagine the scenes in detail. Especially, the emotional scenarios.
2. The language is just decent. However, the editing could have been better.
3. The characters are just so apt to the narration.
4. Quite an unpredictable ending, something one would least expect.

What I didn't like -
1. The cover could have been quite better than something this simple.

Conclusion - A roller-coaster ride of emotions. Just go for it.

The other side of her is an unputdownable psychological thriller. It is based upon an author's life who loses her husband and her kids. Somehow she manages to escape to her sibling's place. But what happens to her is worth knowing. She starts seeing unfathomable things.
Is she high?
Hallucinations?
What's wrong with her...is she depressed?
To get an answer to all these questions, you'll have to give the other side of her a try.

The Other Side of Her is an engaging psychological thriller with a fast pace and emotional depth. The story kept me hooked, though I guessed the main culprit halfway through maybe because, as a writer, I tend to look for twists early. Still, the writing and suspense made it an enjoyable read for thriller fans.

This book revolves around Romance fiction writer Revati and twisted turns happened in her life. She gets married to love of her life but soon in an accident she lost her husband and unborn child.
.
She couldn't bear the loss of her loved ones and lost herself into the depression, negativity and anxiety attacks. As per Psychiatrist advise, she reach to Kerala's hill station where her Sister Ruchika, Velu her husband and Kirti her daughter is living. .
During her stay, Revati starts to behave strange and weird. Soon she felt like ghastly trapped in a cycle of mysterious death, revenge and unnatural situation. Dr says, she's hallucinating because of her retrograde amnesia and so everyone believes it.
.
But is it really amnesia making her behave like that?Or Is it just a hallucination or something actually happening in that house?! .
Start of this book made me think it's a love story but soon it turns into page turning thriller with touch of horror and supernaturalisam. .
Book is crisp, fast paced and keeps you on the edge till the end. I literally sailed through 200 pages in a day. You may or may not guess the climax, depending on how far you can put imagination to it.
.
I love simplistic yet intriguing writing. Horror is not my cup of tea but I really enjoyed this book alot. Overall entertaining, compelling and action-packed novel!

Revathi has all the happiness in the world - a very loving husband, a baby waiting to come into their lives, a flourishing career as bestselling author famous across the country. But life has other plans when her world turns upside down with a single car accident, as she loses her husband Aarav and her unborn baby. Revathi, in addition to suffering physical injuries is unable to come out of her grief and is diagnosed with depression by their family doctor. In an attempt to help her move on, Revathi’s sister Ruchika takes her along to her husband Vishu’s hometown, which is a quaint place in the mountains. Ruchika also gets Revathi a job in the same school where she teaches, so that Revathi can get busy and forget her past.

However, things get worse as Revathi starts hearing voices at home and at school, sees visions, hallucinates, walks into the woods in the middle of the night, gets injured to the extent of endangering her life. Instead of soothing her tense nerves, the surroundings turn Revathi insane. Cracking the mystery behind Revathi’s new state of mind as she gets pulled more and more into an alternate world forms the rest of the story.

The story starts off as Revathi’s love story and soon the mystery builds as Revathi moves to her sister’s home. The story suffers a slight slump as the new turn of events take some time to make sense and once Revathi understands the connection between the things happening around her, the story moves at breakneck speed. The story keeps alternating between multiple elements— psychological thriller, paranormal saga, horror and mystery.

Even though the second half gets predictable at places, the setting of story in the hill station, the house where Revathi stays, the school, the characters that keep surfacing from the mystery and how the past and present are tied together, keep the narration engaging. I personally would have loved a better ending with a more logical explanation and that which was inclined more towards a psychological thriller. Pick this one to read a very engaging thriller filled with good twists to keep the reader hooked till the end. No wonder this story is already made into a webseries ‘Bhram’ with prominent actors on a leading OTT platform.

A thriller which is unpredictable as it progresses, and worth reading with full of twists and mysteries around.
Story revolves around Revati Krishna who is a well known romance writer. She had everything in her life, a huge fan following, love of her life by her side and her family who supports her in everything. But, it's said that life is not always as smooth as it seems, life is unpredictable, same happens with Revati and she loses everything she has. An accident changes her life upside down. She is life all broken. She struggles with her writing too.
Life has its own plans, Revati ends up in the hills and her life changes with a 360 degrees. She begins her new journey. A journey of justice and which had a dangerous path. Journey where she is alone with nothing clues but only danger in every path.
Revati is set on a journey which even cost her to lose her life but she survives.
The mystery after she lands in hills is something interesting. About how and all, read the story!

Review- This is an interesting thriller story I have read. I started at night and it was so interesting that I ended up reading in single sitting. Once you take it up it's unputable,it will just make you curious who wanted to know more and more. As you start the story you won't even get a slightest an idea that after some parts their is thrilling mystery waiting for me, which was quite shocking and I loved that part.
Story kept me guled till end. Describing of mysterious nature then all the suspense created makes it a good read. Characters are well developed throughout the story.
Depression phase which Revati goes through and then her struggle to cope up back again to writing will make you learn many things. Then , transformation of Revati's character after her loss to strong one, author had done great work at portraying her character with different shades be it emotional or a strong, fierce one.
Suspense created is something which makes this novel a different story totally.
Cover is quite catchy, while the title is unique.
If you loved reading mysterious thrilling novels try this out , you won't get disappointed !

Synopsis: Revati Krishna is a famous romance writer and is happily married until she isn't. Following a tragic accident, she goes to live with her sister to resume her writing in peace. But soon, a mystery wraps around her, about a dead girl who was murdered 15 years ago. In the pretext of writing her book, Revati soon unearths a secret that was supposed to remain buried thus putting her life in grave danger. Will she be able to bring justice to the girl?
.
O I enjoyed this book. I woke up today morning, unable to get out of bed, I took my kindle from beside my bed and started this book. Needless to say, I was in my bed until I finished it. However, at first glance you wouldn't figure the genre of the book if you didn't know the blurb. Indeed I thought, "Hey, this was supposed to be a thriller, not some sappy romance". Also, the cover is misleading. But, boy, I was wrong.
Although I felt that some of the parts could have been better explained instead of just implying it or stating it as a fact. I wouldn't have minded if it were a bit longer. I loved the blend of romance, suspense and the paranormal.
The characterization is good. You can connect with the main character. I did not feel there were unnecessary characters, which is sometimes a problem in some books (But that is my pet peeve).
The clues are there in the book, if you can figure out the culprit. Although, I guessed it, but I would have liked a more explained ending. But I suppose that is the mystery of thrillers. Half of it, you gotta guess yourself. I would really recommend it to others.

A writer's mind invites the most chaos. In K. Hari Kumar's novel 'The Other Side of Her', the readers get to experience the other side of the truth. Revati Krishna, a bestselling writer, the queen of romance, has everything a person could aspire for; a blooming career, a loving husband and devoted fans. But, when tragedy strikes, it takes away everything she adored. Losing her will to write, or live, she is advised to take a break in the serenity of a sleepy hill station. When chaos follows her there, she finds herself digging up old graves, the truth behind the gruesome murder that happened 15 years ago. Will she be able to bring the departed soul to justice? Or will she succumb to the same fate as the dead girl?

Strong, intense and thrilling. The cover doesn't justify the thrill that coursed throughout the narration. The story was tight and full-packed. It will keep you at the edge of the seat until the very end. The characters are great, especially that of Revati. The twists and turns and the setup of the story is amazing. This book is not just a thriller, its romantic endeavour is much appreciated.

There were a few grammatical errors, and the storytelling lacked in certain areas. I was equally invested in the character of Vishu, but it lacked a proper closure.

Overall, this is definitely recommended to thriller lovers, especially newer ones, and to those who enjoy romance.
The writer is amazing with his formation, and I would love to read more of his works.

Simple horrifying thriller story. It's about a writer named Revati. Revati is in love with Aarav. She went to meet his parents and surprisingly, she got all the blessings from both of their families. Soon they got married and she got pregnant too. Then only that accident happened. Her husband and her child died. She somehow survived but good enough to live. She had taken a lot of stress in her and couldn't move on.

The doctor advised her to go to some other places to relieve her stress. She went to her sister Ruchika's home. Ruchika is living with her husband Vishu and her daughter Kriti. Their home is in a rural area and more of it like a cottage. There she is seeing things. Is she hallucinating?
What she sees is true? Is she having a lot of stress? Is that a trauma because of the accident? Even so, what is she seeing? what was that about? To know the answers read the book.

Before I started to read this book, I thought it might take some days to finish it. On the contrary to my thoughts, I finished it in one day. It was easy to understand as it was a simple story. What I think of lacking in the story is, it is predictable in some areas. I really don't understand why he tried to show Vishu as a bad person and what is the meaning V....N. Other than that it is a quick and impressive read.

the other side of her.
here the starting is as a romantic story, interesting as well.
the story about Revati and her love Aarav. First few pages shows that a famous author Revati and love of her life Arav's love life, how they come together, with both the families agreement they tie a knot. and then gets pregnant then.
But in this happy life, destiny takes a turn. One accident ruins their lives. Actually Revati's life. Life takes away her husband and child from her. she survives somehow. but for the disturbed revati, doctor suggests to change the place.
She goes to her sister's place which is in rural area. she lives there with her sister, brother-in-law and niece. then twist comes again. she starts seeing different things.
whole romantic story takes a different tone as a thriller one.
I am not going to reveal the story more here. But I can definitely say that this book is for romantic as well as thriller lovers. So i would like to recommend to them.
Starting of the story is bit slow and then story starts picking its pace.
And off course makes it more interesting further. makes you read in one go.
Cover is looking good but i think title doesn't suit with the story.
I like the author's narration style and language is bit easy here. Easy to understand. makes it simple and more interesting.
So, overall good experience reading this novel. I enjoyed it.

Author Revati Krishna often deemed as the 'Queen of Romance' by her ardent readers has everything a woman could dream of - a flourishing career, loving family and swoon worthy husband by her side. But looks like destiny had other plans for her. An unfateful accident turns the course of her life. She is left with a baggage of memories that don't seem to fade away with time. As advised by her therapist her elder sister Ruchika, whisks her off to a lush country side away from the humdrum of the city. Peace seems to be a permanent resident in the quaint town. To the contrary, Revati is growing restless by each passing day. She feels as if she's followed by a spirit of a girl who was raped years ago. Revati smells conspiracy and brings upon herself to serve justice to the girl. Things are not what they seem from the outside. Will Revati reach the end of this complex mystery?

The descriptive writing drawn me in. It was as if I was living the life of the main protagonist. As the events unfolded, suspense was built up slowly, keeping the reader at the edge of the seat. The ending took me by surprise. I definitely didn't see that coming. Editing could have been much better. Some things introduced in the book didn't really fit in the main plot.
