After enjoying the first two books in the ‘Shooting Stars’ series very much, I was really looking forward to reading the next book in the series, ‘Wishing on a star’. (You don’t have to really read the previous books first to read this one but I would recommend that you read them too because I really liked them.)
Shooting Stars Record is always on the lookout for talented singers to work with. This time they want to give female country singer Jesse Gold the chance to make it to the top. But first they have to find a producer who is prepared to work with her and that isn’t as easy as it sounds. When they finally found someone, it’s the last person that Jesse wants to work with is but she doesn’t have a lot of choice if she wants to make it as a solo artist. Jesse and Ash Shepherd share a past together, a painful one, but the more time they spend together the more they come to the conclusion that they don’t know everything about what really happened in the past. And that isn’t the only thing that they discover when working together. The chemistry between them is still there. But does their love deserve a second chance or is it better to leave those feelings in the past?
‘Wishing on a star’ is a good second chance romance story. I especially liked Ash character, he’s a good man with a big heart. Jesse’s character was also likeable but she was a bit more unsecure about herself. But that’s understandable, in the showbiz world there is a lot of pressure to be perfect. The story is told from both POV’s. I loved the interaction between Ash and Jesse and I was glad to see the other characters from the previous stories back. I only found the end of the story, for me personally, a bit too sweet. Suddenly everything was alright with everyone?! I don’t know how to feel about it but it’s certainly not something bad. I’m just not sure if I would have forgiving everyone so easily.
The writer Terri Osburn created an interesting world, with this series about a record label in Nashville. I really love all the characters in it and I’m already looking forward to the next book.
This is a fantastic second chance romance set the the bustling good ole boys business of country music in Nashville. High school sweethearts Jesse Gold and Ash Shepherd are reunited as Jesse works to get her career back on track. With rumors flying around Jesse hasn't been able to find a producer to work with...not until Ash steps up. The chemistry between them is still there, will they have to choose between her career and a future together? Could they get both?
I really enjoyed their story and I believe you will fall for Jesse and Ash just like I did. I definitely recommend this one.
Jesse Gold has lived and breathed being in the music business since she was a little girl. She was taught to play the guitar at an early age by her friend Ash Shepherds. Ash was her brother's best friend. He was also the love of her life until a tragic accident changed their lives. All three were out and due to a deer they were in a deadly accident. Tommy, Jesse's brother was killed. Jesse's family blamed Ash since he was driving. One day he was on his way to visit Jesse while she in the hospital her mother cornered him and told him that they no longer wanted him around or wanted to see him, including Jesse. Ash left town and never came back. Jesse was devastated thinking that he abandoned her when she needed him most, she knew nothing of what her mother had done. Her anger took over. Later on she joined a duo called the Honkytonk Daisies and they were working their way up. Unfortunately her partner decided to take a different route on her own and left Jesse high and dry with a text message saying goodbye. The rumors started shortly after saying Jesse was very hard to work with, wanted her own way, argumentative, bossy. Jesse couldn't find any producers to work with her or record labels to sign her on, but finally her agent Silas found one. Shooting Star Records. But would Jesse work with them, even though they could be her last chance?
Ash Shepherds grew up spending his time with his best friends family more than his own. He was secretly in love with his best friends sister. When finally old enough they could open up on those feelings. But he would soon lose her. One night there was an accident, he was driving and a deer ran into the road causing them to get into the accident. His best friend Tommy, and Jesse's big brother was killed. Ash felt horrible, Tommy was more like a brother to him. Jesse was in the hospital too. One day on his was to visit Jesse her mother stopped him. She told him that they no longer wanted to see him or need him around anymore. That that included Jesse. Ash was crushed, but did what she said and left. After all he took their child away. He moved away. He went to school for a while, in Nashville started working his way up to producing music. He is making a name for himself. He has been called by Clay Benedict for a meeting at Shooting Stars Records. No one is telling him what it is about. Once he is seated with Clay he finds out, they want him to work with Jesse Gold, the girl he was forced to leave behind all the those years ago, the one he isn't sure he ever got over. He tells Clay he will pass on the offer, but Clay explains that he might be her last shot at making her way. So he says he will but leaves the final decision up to Jesse. He doesn't see this going well.
Sparks fly, words are flung and tempers are high when these two meet for the first time. So many feelings come back to the surface for the both of them. Will the truth come out? Will Jesse find out that Ash was forced to leave by her Mother? Will Ash find out that Jesse had nothing to with it? But even if they do what does that mean for them? Jesse has a boyfriend, however we will find out not a very nice one. There is plenty of tension here, but there is also fear. I think they are both dealing with the fear that their feelings are still so very strong for each other and don't know what to do with that. They have to work together and figure it all out. Jesse has some personal issues she has to come to grips with as well, ones that keep repeating themselves through her life. The ups and downs in this story make it so easy to just keep reading it, too easy to turn the pages and not stop. I read this book in one day. I went to bed at 1:00 am knowing I had to be up at 3:30 am in the morning, I just got lost in the pages. All the feelings are in this book, but the one thing I didn't like was the ending. It felt too cut off for my liking. But I am an epilogue person so to be fair, it could be me. It won't matter if you have read the other books in this series, this one stands alone just as the others do. I would recommend reading them since they are all great books, each one just seems to get better.
“I received a free, advance copy of this book . This is my unbiased and voluntary review.”
I have never been a fan of country music but really enjoyed the author’s Rising Star, so I decided to give this one a try. Once again, the author managed to engage me in the story from the beginning. This story belongs Jesse Gold and Ash Shepherd. Jesse, is a young country singer who after a breakup with her singing partner, is trying to overcome the obstacles and stories saying she is a difficult diva to work with. All false accusations, but the entertainment business is hard enough to succeed in, even without these rumors. Ash Shepherd, now a music producer, is the boy she loved in her youth , but also the one that left her when she needed him most after a tragedy that affected them both. Now it seems destiny has put them back together. Will the truth of why he left help heal them? Will new rumors keep them apart? Will they be able to help each other professionally or will they lose out on their HEA? Aside from a good story, it’s also a reminder that how our parents treat us as well as past experiences, will in fact affect us the rest of our lives. Paraphrasing the author, you can’t change your parents or the past, but you might be able to get a second chance at life and love and find your HEA. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Fresh out of a semi-successful duet, Jessie Gold is desperate to get her solo career up and running. When rumors start swirling that she's difficult to work with, making that a reality was become increasingly difficult. During a meeting with her label, Jessie's past collides with the present, and the man she thought was her forever was suddenly the only one that could help. Wishing on a star is the third book in the Shooting Stars series by Terri Osburn. The author continues to wow me with every book in this series. I recommend that you read these books in order as the couples are revealed in the books thereafter. I love second chance romance novels. They give me hope that love will keep keeping on no matter what made them part the first time. This emotional read is sure to pull at your heart strings.
Clay Benedict has signed Jesse Gold to a solo record deal after the breakup of the duo Honkytonk Daisies and hired Ash Shepherd, an experience songwriter and new producer, to produce the album. They have different opinions on the perfect songs to include in the album. Now the questions is, will Jesse be able to work with Ash and will Ash be able to produce an album that puts Jesse on the road to stardom.
This is the third book in the Shooting Stars series by Terri Osburn. Terri loves the city of Nashville and knows the music business and it comes through in her writing. The characters are high spirited, strong willed and have heart. A good read!
It’s been a while since I enjoyed a heroine as much as I enjoyed Jesse. She makes mistakes I think every woman makes in looking at herself and blaming herself for all the bad and taking little credit for the good. This is a story of a woman who finally saves herself... and finds the man who was already waiting for her. All of the characters are fully developed and there’s a delicate balance of secondary characters that leave you wanting more (Clay next, please?!?) and a strong, fast paced love story between Jesse and Ash. I enjoy this series very much and found this to be another excellent story.
I enjoyed this classic love story of boy meets/loses/reunites with girl against the backdrop of the competitive, unforgiving music industry.
Jesse Rheingold aka Gold and Ash Shepherd shared a past that propelled them from teenage soul mates to star-crossed lovers. The story begins when Jesse is struggling to regain her footing as a country music singer and Ash is making a name for himself as a music producer. Their paths cross, and they have to make peace with the past before they can determine if they have a future - in love and in music.
The secondary characters are somewhat stereotypical, but it's a fun, quick read.
I usually don't like the music theme stories unless it's a biography. This one though is about a pair of star-crossed high school sweethearts who meet 10 years later in Nashville. Both are songwriters, but Jesse is also a singer. The other half of her duet left to start a solo career, but Jesse was the talent behind the duo. Ash is a songwriter and producer, earning his way up the ladder. Reluctantly, Jesse agrees to his producing her first solo album.
Yes, it's a second-chance romance, but both are savvy and realize they are completely different people. In addition, they have the unresolved breakup of 10 years ago to settle. But both are likeable and hardworking characters.
Jesse's partner broke their duet group up, so now she is starting over. She has a manager and is going for an interview at Shooting Stars but when she sees she is going to work Ash Shepard with she almost doesn't except. This story has a lot of history between Ash and Jesse, she doesn't want the rumors to start but if she wants to make it she has to over look everything. In the end her decision is going to be based on trust.
This was my favorite story in the series and I was upset when it ended as I wanted more.
** I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review**
A second chance romance between Jesse and Ash, they were high school sweethearts, now fast forward ten years. Jesse is a new recording artist for Shooting Stars Records and is known to be difficult to work with. Ash is anxious to turn from song writing to producing, so the this will be the perfect opportunity. Now can they work together and not deny the sparks that are reigniting between them again
Loved these characters!! Ash was my favorite, such a big heart. This is a story that I did not want to see end! This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
Wishing on a Star the 3rd book in A Shooting Stars Novel-
What a heartwarming book. So many emotions throughout. Loved it..
Jesse Gold is a female song writer. But she’s know to be a bit difficult. However when Ash Shepherd her high school sweetheart and successful songwriter steps in the picture things might go her way. The only thing is it may not, because they have a history.
In a literary romance world of rock stars, Terri's focus on country music is refreshing. I've been looking forward to this coming out (so much that is was in my planner). Jesse and Ash have history. Tragic history. As their paths cross again in the business, they find they need each other. Business leads to pleasure and their own second chance. I love getting updates on characters in previous books and seeing the groundwork laid for the next book in the series.
3.5 stars. This was a cute story. Ash is so sweet and understanding. For me I'm not into the women card being played. I felt like this is where this kept going. The music industry is probably as they say but writing that Jesse always pick 's the wrong guy and always has a boyfriend. Didn't fit for me. But I guess it fits into the story. Truthfully I want to see more of Clays factory and even Ronnie.

This is another good book in the Shooting Stars series. I am thoroughly enjoying the characters in this series. They are interesting, engaging and entertaining. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. Jesse and Ash' s story had a sad beginning with a happy ending. There were a few editing issues which I only mention because they seem to bother so many readers. They do not take away from the story.
I loved this whole series that I read all three in all my spare time I had in the last 2 days. This last one I read the whole way through. Jesse a girl fighting to make a name for herself in the music industry and to have her first love to help her accomplish her goal just makes my heart burst. Okay then as a secret code between jesse and ash just makes me smile. Thanks so much for a great book and can't wait to read more of your work.
I’ve enjoyed the series to date. I’ve never read any of Terri Osburn’s novel before I found the first Shooting Stars Novel. The more I read, the more I’ve enjoyed her writing. This book is the best so far. In fact, instead of reading a long awaited new release from one of my favorite authors, I’m on my way to read the next book in the series. There are a couple of threads and characters that has peaked my interest and I’m on my way to see if they get the ending they’ve earned.
If you haven't read Terri Osburn before, what are you waiting for!!!! She is one of my favorite authors and all of her series are great.
I loved this second shot at love for Jesse and Ash. You really come to love these two characters. While this book is in a series you don't have to read them in order, although that's my preferred method.
I was not a huge fan of Jesse. Her low self-esteem kind of grated in my nerves. She had to constantly be reminded of her blessings. Hats off to super nice Ash.
Another Nashville based music industry story. This one includes a family handling grief (albeit the wrong way), the vicious nature of rumors in the industry. The only part that I really didn’t care for was Jesse contemplating walking away from Ash over threats of a malicious rumor.

This one left me disappointed. The story was left unfinished. Did she become a number 1 artist? Has Ash's mom accepted her back? There is just say to much story left to tell. Not a very happy ending if you ask me.
This book was Ash and Jesse's story about the strengths of first loves Ana's the opportunities for second chances. The book also dealt with forgiveness of all kinds. It was a good book that I enjoyed these characters and glimpses into the past characters.
I've enjoyed this series, it's a feel good series, light and drama free, easy to read, well written. I look forward to any more that comes out, because I feel like there are at least 2 more books ready to be written/read.
A lot of baggage to work through for our main characters but well worth the time. A wonderful job describing the many different areas of Nashville. Can't wait for more.
Jesse and Ash's story was a sweet love story that spanned over ten years. The death of her brother and his best friend push them apart but love found a way!
