Wanna know about this book? “If I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.” This is the claim put forth by the author regarding his mentalist abilities.
I’m still amazed I stuck it out and finished this book. The subtitle, Unlocking the Power of Your Mind to Get What You Want, is what drew me in. Little did I know it was about the author, getting what he wanted—another reader. There was no new information about influencing people. In fact, the majority of this widely known information, such as mirroring, does not appear until the second half of the book.
This book was the biggest load of braggadocio I have ever read. It was full of him documenting his performances and how great he thinks his performances are. While I don’t doubt they are amazing, a little humility goes a long way. Again, as the author stated again and again about his performances and abilities, “pretty cool, right?” WRONG!
A fun, easy read. A book that will help you be one aware of the things you are otherwise unaware of, when it comes to human behavior and the subconscious mind. The author is very charismatic, charming, and I'd love to see him perform someday.
WHY in the world am I reading THIS book? 'The Powers of a Mentalist' intrigued me -- then I received my Amazon used-book copy in the mail and ripped off the wrapper realizing that I was just a read away from controlling my husband, my family, my colleagues!
LOL ... okay ... maybe not! But I am sure "Mind Reader" promises to be a fun, mind expanding experience!
Beyond that - now I am looking at the design of the book! O. M. G. Harper Collins did a TOP DRAWER job on the design of this book. The design, the chapter mastheads, the page number icons, Forget Lior Suchard! I'm in love with his BOOK DESIGNER!
OKAY, on to Page 1.

From a publishing standpoint this is a beautifully produced book, and the storyline is entertaining, making Suchard seem extremely likable.
Frankly, in spite of my 3-star ranking (I almost gave it a 4-star) the only criticism I have of 'Mind Reader: Unlocking the secrets and powers of a Mentalist' is that it didn't deliver on its TITLE.
'Mind Reader: How I Perform on Stage' or 'On Stage With Lior Suchard: World Renowned Mentalist' would have emphasized that the book is actually about how Suchard's acts 'went' [did the audience express their amazement] ...more than HOW a mentalist 'develops'. I don't think one 'secret' was "unlocked". Am I wrong here? Did I miss something?? I can now do a few card tricks and I did influence my husband to imagine Square-within-a-circle LOL, but life-skills?? Nope!
I was definitely won over by Suchard's charming storytelling which he executes in a likable, amazed-at-his-own-success kind of way
Mind Reader : (what is written here as title of the book does not even remotely is in the book). Just a misleading title. If you are going to pick up this book to learn how to read mind, which was the reason for me, Don't bother. This book is just all about the shows and tricks done by lior suchard.
Lior is a charismatic and really interesting dude. Watch a few clips of him on YouTube and you'll see for yourself. I wanted to know more about his life so I ordered his book. Before I started reading it I had this sudden worry that I was about to jump into a cheesy 'heres how to become a Mentalist' kind of thing. Thankfully, thats not at all what this book is about. It gives you an insight into Lior's life and how the mind works. At times he gives examples in the form of brain teasers to explain what he's talking about. He tells a few stories from shows he's done around the world and explains how the audience and participants reacted to what he's done with them. So don't go into this book wanting to learn how to influence people, this isnt for you. This IS for anyone who wants to learn a little more about Lior the man, and get a basic refresher on how your mind works. It's stuff you've probably learned over the years anyway, but the exercises are still fun.
Really enjoyed this fun and light read and was fascinated with what this man claims to be able to do with mind power. Enjoyed having the codes to scan throughout the book for the videos to watch online too.
Nothing much in the book, should come with label - Only for kids below 13 years! The whole books looks like a marketing pamphlet and few high school puzzles. Don't waste your time on this!
Все по - рядко оставям толкова впечатлена, след като приключа книга. Чете се лесно, благодарение на увлекателният изказ на автора, забавните пасажи и позитивната атмосфера.
I almost read this book in one sitting, it as so captivating. I saw a clip of him on the James Corden show and was so mind blown, I wanted to read more about him. He still fascinates me on how he does his tricks. Having said that, I’m glad I scanned through the book to see there was interesting material in it, because the first chapter came across as so narcissistic I’m surprised an editor signed off on that. There’s also a part in the chapter on intuition where he proposed the idea that since the planes on 9-11 were not full, that maybe a bunch of people followed their intuition and didn’t book a flight that day, or canceled their flights. My rational brain immediately thought, did anyone fact check this? Maybe the flights had less people because they were earlier in the day and those exact flights generally don’t have that many people on it. Things that make you go hmmmm.
The main takeaway for us non master mind readers is to practice using both sides of our brain. I loved some of the mind games he had us practice as well as tips on reading others. I plan on using those for sure. I also liked how he explained how much positive energy he has to put into connecting with others. He’s gifted for sure.
The human mind is capable of extraordinary feats. There is an abundance of untapped mental power that we have yet to discover living within our capacity to utilize. Our unimaginable potential is breathtaking. “Mind Reader”, by world-renowned mentalist, Lior Suchard, will reveal to you a new world of mental fitness and will help you learn to optimize your life with the amazing, beautiful, limitless possibilities made available to us by the Almighty God, our loving Heavenly Father. It is His desire for us to become like Him, to access abilities with no end, to become the masters of our own minds. Learning more about the power of our own minds is an exciting, exhilarating step towards that brilliant destiny.
This book does absolutely nothing to tell you what and how you read other people’s mind, let alone how the author(Lior), does it. He’s a magical genius, a great entertainer, so immensely, magically, subtle that you won’t be able to know from his writing.
Your time is probably better spent on a 3 minute clip of the ellen degeneres show on youtube. Trust me, much more magical.
My worst read of 2020. He must either be a captivating writer or i must be an absolute obstinate person to have actaully finished the book.
Save your time, your money.
I must say, i don’t go around regretting the stff i read most of my life time, i have on this particular occasion.
Most of the contents are show rundowns with very little detail of the process
If you have watched Lior's YouTube videos and interviews then most of the contents in the book may feel like a repeat
Since "Lior has to kill you" :) the book doesn't explain how he does the mind blowing acts (I wonder if this is coded in anyway! and want to ask Lior the hidden meaning of the statement)
May be author doesn't want to give more details in one book and as explained in one of his YouTube interview, may be in future he will spend more time on teaching his skills to others and release new books. Waiting for that day !
I was intrigued by some videos of his (you can YouTube or FB video his name to see)
They are pretty fascinating, to the point of paranormal. Some can be explained from a psychological point of view others are downright con jobs. (Watch the various videos)
The author definitely employs some good NLP techniques, understands psychology and priming etc, but at the end of the day , they are all just that or tricks (no such thing as mind reading/ supernatural mind reading power)
If the author has come clean on that point, instead of elevating his position to somewhat supernatural, then I guess he could deserve a better rating
Worst book ever! I learned nothing from this book, except for the fact that I wasted my time reading it. The author, Lior, isn't as great as the true great mentalists out there, such as Derren Brown, Colin Cloud, Luke Jermay, just to name a few. Lior is no different than the fraud, Uri Geller, who actually commented on the book and it's located on the very cover.
I would not recommend this book to my enemies! It's that bad.
If I had thought that this book is going to teach me how lior suchard reads mind, thjen I would have been killed by him - as the common thing that he uses in the book.
Apart from that, the way he works and the show's he's put up literally gives a feel that you are reading the movie "now you see me"
A good book on the whole.
One question, at the end, guessing the symbol? Is it really true?
I fist saw Suchard on a TV show, and it was pretty impressive. I was excited to read the book.
It was slightly disappointing. It had plenty of good tricks, but it read a bit like an unedited, new-agey work that related his tricks. He doesn't reveal much, but provides a few interesting leads. Following up on him with some videos was interesting, and there are certainly some "flaws" in his methodology. But others remain mystifying, and impressive.
Have you felt that someone is staring at you, and you turn-around to find its true. It happens with all of us, isn't it? Lior is an amazing entertainer and I enjoyed reading his book especially - deciphering eye movements and usage of left & right brain. Try brushing your teeth with left hand and you would know how much of your right brain is in use ☺
I plan to read this book again and again. I'm sure there will be ideas that stick with me the more often I go back to it. It's amazing how Lior can work his "magic"!
Lior Suchard writes in an entertaining way, which is not surprising because he focuses on entertainment in all that he does.
Don't expect to learn how to become a mentalist by reading this book. He doesn't teach you how to read minds. It's still an interesting read that I enjoyed.
Lior shared his on-stage experiences he had with the audience. The experiences make you wonder for sure. He talks about how paying attention to details and meditation helps him concentrating. Some of the questions at the end really make your right brain working.
Независимо, че част от мирогледа на автора се припокрива с моя, то съм на мнение, че някой му е казал "Напиши книга", той го е послушал и не му се е получило. Изглежда, че правенето на шоу и писането на книга за него са едно и също нещо.
Misleading title. I've just read the first 50 pages and I'm still waiting for the part where he teaches me something. Hope to find at least some mind reading tips while hovering fastly through the pages. Can't believe I got clickbaited even out of YouTube.
