Winter's cold and winter's darkness, wraps us in these frozen hours. as the ceaseless wheel turns we call the sun to warm us with its power. Cooper, Annie, and Kate celebrate the winter solstice in true Wiccan spirit. The threesome joins practitioners of the Craft in a remote, haunted house in the wintry mountains. An unexpected blizzard strikes, and the girls cannot resist the lure of the dark house's shrouded mystery.
As an avid rejector of anything crime, thriller or mystery, this book didn't do it for me in large parts. I didn't care about the "the Shining" knockoff twin mystery with its embarrassing twist. I was also really disappointed in the treatment of the character Kate. She is always presented as the most shallow of the trio, and with her choosing the water path, I was excited to see her explore her doubts and negative emotions in a deep way for a change. Alas, that all went out the window for this ghost story. The book does come together nicely at the end, I will admit, and the Yule ritual was impressive and festive - that's what I came here for. But all in all, no higher than 2.5, this one.
Not as fast of a read as some of the other books (for me), but I did like the different paths they could follow during their retreat, especially Annie's was moving in a way. The main plot was fun, felt like an episode of a teenage tv show. Logically, I did find it somewhat upsetting that Tyler is supposed to be there, but then doesn't appear anymore, what's up with that Mr. Isobel?
This is the 11th book in the series. The girls go to an old hotel. There's supposed to be a ghost there, and a couple had died there previously. They're attending a major gathering of those interested in Wicca.
There will be a series of “paths,” study sessions. Annie is going to do the path of Death. Kate choses the Water path. Kate is worried about perhaps never being able to trust anyone again. A woman she talks to while blindfolded says her sister might be planning to kill her.
Nora and Lucy are twins, but Lucy doesn't like Nora, or anyone else, for that matter. The girls plus Nora decide to go on a ghost hunt. They see a ghost of a young girl who says she was murdered.
Kate learns that Lucy is the one who thinks her sister is going to kill her. Later, Nora claims Lucy is trying to kill her. The girls are drawn into a fierce battle for control, a battle of light vs. darkness. A battle that could cost them their lives.
This is a really good book in the series. The making of death masks and that ceremony was especially interesting.
This book really wasn’t what I was expecting but in a good way. I was hoping that Annie was finally going to process what happened with her parents and face everything. Instead we got really creepy twins and twin ghosts and murder mystery. I couldn’t put this book down, I kept wanting more and to see what was going to happen next. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I believe this was the worst book until now. Too much fantasy in it. No one can relate to seeing ghosts like people and old curses and need to destroy amulets and those things. Personally, I didn't like this volume that much.
Kate, Annie, Cooper and Sasha and the other members go for a week long retreat for Yule to a haunted hotel surely the four of them can't get into much trouble then again who knows what can happen when these four get together. Another excellent read
If I'd ever had the slightest interest in reading about two creepy twin girls doing evil magic at an old haunted hotel in the middle of the wilderness, I would've just read The Shining, thanks.
