The Bound Ones Boxed Set

Rate this book

The fate of the world is in the hands of four strangers with no clue their elemental abilities are the only hope of stopping an ancient evil.

Nineteen-year-old Phoenyx Blake has no idea how she ended up in a makeshift prison cell with three other teens. But one of the trapped—Sebastian—has a face that looks eerily like the one she’s dreamed of her entire life.

Now forced to face her long-held secret in a battle for survival, Phoenyx finds herself less certain of her future...and her past. When she and her cellmates learn they are eternally bound by the ancient elemental powers of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, and that their captors plan to use them in a terrifying ritual sacrifice to take those powers for themselves, a countdown against their lives begins.

Ignite: If Phoenyx can’t master her powers and face up to her secret in time, then they’ll all pay with their lives.

Submerge: An ancient artifact might free them once and for all. Can they find it in five days, or will they all face death once again?

Unearth: Phoenyx and her friends band together for one last fight, and one of them will pay the ultimate price.

I will review each of the books individually since this is a box set of all of them.

Ignite is a very well written book by Tricia Barr. This book drew me in from the very first page. It follows a great pace and has a unique plot that is rather intriguing. The pace of the book is perfect and never feels like it is dragging out or is rushing you through the story. There are some neat twists hidden within that keep you reading on. I pretty much read this book in one sitting, it captivated my attention that much.

Phoenyx is a very likable character and you can definitely see her growing in this book. I am definitely looking forward to read the next book and see what is next in store for her. Lily, Sebastian and Skylar add perfectly to this story and are also great characters that are very likable.

All in all I really enjoyed this book. It has everything from paranormal, some romance and action thrown all together with a well developed plot. Not much more you can ask for.

Submerge is a great continuation of her first book in this series Caloric. This book has a huge flair of "Indiana Jones" and is very well written that way. The plot is very well developed and keeps you glued to the pages! The pace of the book is spot on and never feels dragged out nor rushed, which to me is important. There are lots of neat little twists hidden within that really give this book a nice little air of freshness. And this book ends on a high, yes there will be more and gosh I can't wait for the next one!!!!

In this book each character learns more about their gifts and even though you are captivated in their story, their characters actually go through some development. Their friendship gets tested but also strengthens through all their adventures. They also find a new ally who is very important in this part of their journey. There are of course also new enemies and some you are not sure which side they truly fall on.

This book really has it all. There is lots of action, some romance and a fantastic plot. I can really recommend this series to any lover of the paranormal!

Unearth is the third book in this series. This author sure knows how to draw you in from the first page and did it again in this book. The pace of the book is plain perfect, never leaving me feeling like the book is dragging out nor is the author ever rushing the story! There is a lot going on in a very well developed plot that makes sense! Even with all that is going on the author still manages to do some character development which is always a big plus.

The author did leave the best for last and builds up to the big finale with a bitter sweet ending! This book has a nice uniqueness to it, which is what drew me to this series in the first place. You can't help but love the main characters, who are all so different from each other but compliment each other so well.

This book is the perfect finale to the series and I can only recommend reading them all! They can be read individually but I would suggest you start from the beginning, it is worth it, trust me!

Four teenagers are kidnapped. They all come from different areas, and have nothing in common - except their birth dates. But when they realize they've been abducted by a religious organization bent on destroying them in a ritual sacrifice, they'll need to band together to escape and stop the madness.

These books, while good, page-turners, was a little outside my comfort zone at points. And there was one character who didn't get the HEA they deserved. :( Maybe the author has a story to fix that... ;)

Otherwise, a neat take on magic and history and reincarnation. Just remember to be careful when playing with fire. ;)

What happens when four young people are kidnapped by an evil cult wanting to unleash their powers on the world? The Bound Ones!

Phoenyx, Sebastian, Skylar and Lily are just normal young adults.....or are they? The Four Corners has plans for them: to sacrifice them and unleash their Elements into the world.

The writing is good, the characters well-developed and the books are action packed. A couple of truly evil villains, an eternal romance, a being rising from the dead, witches, pirates.....this set has all of this and more!

Hmmm

The story was good. It was intense and had me flipping pages. I enjoyed the characters too. What I struggled with though, while there weren't what most consider steamy scenes, there was a lot of sex in the book. Too much for my taste. There was also some extreme profanity. If it hadn't been for these two things the book would haven gotten more stars. Unfortunately though these things tend to dampen my enjoyment of a book

Totally engrossing.

I became totally involved with these characters. I enjoyed their triumphs and grieved with their tragedies. It was almost a loss when this series ended. I am looking forward to discovering other books by this author.

Why didn’t I read this series sooner?

Everything from the characters to the fantastic settings, to the surprises at every turn kept me turning the pages. Any chance there will be another book in the series?

Entertainment

I loved that there were strong female characters. They are late teens with flaws but still likeable. I think any one could love this and think this should become a movie.

The Elements

This series deals with magic powers that remeet after many reincarnations. This time they deal with many enemies and many twists before an exciting ending. Need to read the whole series..

Admittedly didn’t make it too far into the book. The plot seemed interesting which was why I started, but the writing style wasn’t for me.
