„Angeles Underground“ the second book in the “Angeles Vampire” Series by Michael Pierce and follows seamlessly the events on the previous book.
In order to continue their path with the True North Society, and due to the appalling truths surfaced during Fiona’s search for her father and the prophecies about the future, Fiona commit herself to the Sister of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital, but she is not alone for the gothic ride, Mallory (her archnemesis) is also there. If they want to survive the ordeal, they have to put their differences to rest and unite forces. Sisters of Mercy is whether for the faint of heart, nor for those actually expecting mercy, and in Fiona’s case not even the only source of danger to her life, thus she would have to rely not only on Mallory’s cooperation, but also on Matthew’s ability to find her and deflect the situation.
The story successfully pushes the bar set by the previous book a couple of levels higher: action-packed, fast-paced, filled with unexpected twists and set in the most gothic environment conceivable. Pierce’s writing style is captivating, and being description undoubtedly his forte, the asylum becomes a playground to showcase it at maximum. The characters are both distinctive and coherent, the pace is high, without becoming too speedy. Already looking forward to the rest of the series.
Idk. Idk. Idk. On one hand, I read book 2 faster than book 1. And it was just as addicting. But... the plot and the characters were all over the place. I think I got a little whiplash. Matthew went from Stefan Salvatore to Damon Salvatore. And WHY did we need the Sean chapters? Highkey, we really didn't. Like, his whole plot is to be the annoying and jealous ex. Boy, bye. Also, there were some misogyny comments (or technically thoughts) I wasn't a fan of from Matthew. I try not to be judgy and give authors fair chances, but I do tend to read more women authors for that reason. This is more of a random thoughts review than an actual review but book 2 in a 4 book series is sometimes hard to review. All in all, I may have more questions than answers, but I did enjoy it enough to continue the series.
P.S. Why does reading about food in stories make me crave them? First, Crave and Cherry Poptarts. Now, Angeles Vampire and Oreos. 🤤😩
I felt this book was much better than the first, so i am glad I read the next book. The story was not as choppy and Matthew played a bigger part. I do not understand the society and the big deal. It seems more like fluff, it is suppose to be intense training, yet it seemed simple and glossed over. It sure did not turn Fiona into a warrior. Later in the book she is introduced to a vampire and she is scared and ready to cry, instead of standing strong. I will read the next book, just because I want to know what happens with Matthew. Yet, I could really care less about Fiona.
Angeles Underground by Michael Pierce is an awesome story to read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have loved reading since the beginning. I can not wait to read the rest of this awesome series. I highly recommend this story everyone who loves reading about vampires, angels and paranormal romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Susan has a very different role than I expected, just like a few other characters. The story of what happened at the Sisters of Mercy was thrilling and sort of bonding too. It’s hard to imagine that something good can come from violence. Yes it might prove that you can come out stronger, or not. I can’t wait to read what comes next!
Part 2 of the series. This was just as interesting as the first book. Fiona and Mallory must find a way to put their differences aside if they want to survive and leave Sisters of Mercy. The experience they have are gut retching and powerful. We also get to know Matthew a little bit better as his past is explained. The twist at the end was a surprise and makes you wonder what else will happen. Completely hooked to the series.
I was hoping that Fiona and Matthew would be a couple. I was glad that everything turned out ok for Fiona and melody. I can't wait to read the next book love it.5+++
I admit I’m stuck on this series. I haven’t read a vampire book series since Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Lots of mystery in this book. Underground operations a plenty. It’s hard to tell which are the good guys and which are the bad guys at this point due to all the twists and turns. We catch a glimpse of certain things that are in the future for Fiona but not about others. Fiona’s mother was the biggest surprise of all here...well maybe a couple other big surprises here as well. However, my interest is peaked and I am certainly going to continue reading to find the answers to all the mystery.
