Catherine Perce didn't expect tucking her son into bed that night would be the last normal thing she did for a long time. Flashing lights outside her window were the first indication, the second was the knock at the door.
Quarantined.
When a soldier, Captain Jake Deakon takes refuge in her house her ordinary life takes another twist. Together they must survive and protect her son Mitch.
Now that time is up, they must see what awaits them outside their door. Neither could expect the truth they find. Will their new reality be one they can live with?
Jennifer Wedmore is a native of Florida, a wife, mom of three and now an author. Her journey in writing started with a bit of good-natured peer pressure. Growing up her goal was to be known as eccentric and she hopes that is evident in her stories. Why choose one genre when she can play in several?
It's a good book. There were a few stiff moments in the scenes and writing ( but it kinda went with the story if that makes sense?) but very well developed characters and plot with a possibility for more. Very nicely done. I wanted more. Also it was awesome that I could scan the book to review it. Made it easier for me to review and now that I know I have a stack or 50 to hit up. My daughter will enjoy this I think and she is reading it for book review for school. Can't wait to see what she thinks. 😉
Short thought provoking novella challenging one into thinking how would I react. Dramatic and straight into the action without a long preamble, engaging the reader from the start, it allowed you to feel the confusion and fear. It was written from both the Heroine & the hero’s’ points of view, and was well constructed so as to see the same critical moment at times from the differing perspectives. This made for an interesting change. Nice touch repeating the title theme. SPOILER ALERT: I was surprised at how slowly and how little the relationship had progressed over the reasonably long passage of time ( 6 month) given the possible world ending scenario. I had assumed given the attraction, gratitude both unattached restricted proximity etc. they would have progressed to a more intimate relationship. Overall whilst interesting it was a tad lightweight reminding me of an academic exercise rather than an expression of writing passion. That said credit to the author for writing a decent novella.
So, I liked this story. The plot was very interesting and I absolutely loved the characters. Jake and Catherine were super likeable and I would have liked to see more of their spark flourish. Catherine's 8 year old son, Mitchell was so cute and resilient. The addition of Lucky was perfect. It melted my heart.
It was a bit disappointing that there wasn't more action when they left the house after six months of quarantine. I was on the edge of my seat expecting some major action and then meh!
Having said that, I did enjoy reading Wish Us Luck and perhaps that ending means there's more to come. I'm game.

This is the first book I've read from this newly minted author. And I like it! It wasn't long and it wasn't short. It was just right and I finished it in few hours. She skipped over the dull everyday-ness of being cooped up in a house for 6months and instead presented them as diary entries. It was nice way to move the story forward.
Though the ending could use a bit more...punch.
This is a clean romance that is a nice change from the hot and heavy ones.
I received a copy of the book for my honest opinion.
Full of detail and frighteningly realistic. This believable take on a catastrophic event, is thoroughly entertaining. A slow moving romance makes more sense than the 'three day love affair' a lot of romance books describe. The depth of realism is possibly some of the best writing in this genre I've read in a long time.
An easy to read, page turning adventure that makes you wonder, 'what would I do?'.

This is a well written book with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author does a great job keeping me glued to the pages with this thrilling story line. Her scenes were described in vivid detail and the story flows fluidly with her descriptive writing. She does a fantastic job showing life in quarantine , the isolation and the anxiety of not knowing what's happening on the outside. I loved this book and would highly recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This was an impressive story and a bit different. In a way, it was scary with love woven into it and so well written. I like the diary entries and the way she wrote it was perfect. It was also a quick read about a woman and her son in quarantined until Jack came and then they all need to survive. This is a thought-provoking book that I would recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Captain Jake Deakon,Catherine Perse and her son, Mitchell's story of a quarantined town and how they get left there. Once I started this book I was not putting it down. The way it ended makes me wonder if there might be another book to come. this is a short story but it seems like a bigger book with all that goes on in it. She tucked her son up in bed and it was the last normal.thing that would happen. Flashing lights and a knock on the door changed everything. They were quarantined and then a soldier comes along. What has happened? Will it get better? Read to find out what is going on

Wish Us Luck Jennifer Wedmore A great book. I loved reading Catherine 's journal entries, and her son Mitchell was adorable! Also thought that Jake might take things up a notch, lol. A fitting story for the way the world is right now.

relying on someone you do not know well when the chips are down is frightening . Relying on them when the safety of your child is st stake- watch out for momma bear instincts
wrenching and tangled

This was an exemplary book. It was a clean book and oh, so good. I do not know when I have read such an impressive story. Well written does not do this book justice. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. I loved this! It grabbed me from the first page, kept me til the last and enthralled me in between. Well worth your time to read it.
Such a thought provoking novella that is full of detail and scary to think possibly realistic. I really enjoyed the slow moving romance in this book, it was a wonderful way to take a break from my usual type of books.
A thought provoking story of a woman and her young son abandoned during a time when animals have become affected with something and attacking everything. A stranger that had brought provisions and told her not to leave her house returns to teach them some survival skills and protect them.
Wish Us Luck is the perfect book for a Halloween read. This is a scary what if book. I was sucked in and as frightened as the characters. A well written tale that will keep you flipping pages.
I really super enjoyed this story. The characters were so well developed that it seamlessly weave its tale with great detail and depth kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book.
This was a very interesting book. This was kinda like doom days book but with a happy ending. Plus it may not have been a dooms day with all the interesting parts.
An intriguing different kind of scary romance story, it is suspenseful. Amazing strong characters. It is written well. I liked reading the book and a pleasure to review it.
I really, really enjoyed this story. Loved the characters a lot. When she and her son get quarantined together with Jake they get to know each other pretty good.
Life can change in a blink of an eye as Michell and his mother found out. One day life is normal and then the next, they were notified by a soldier that they were under quarantine. This is a thriller, a page turner. I opened the book and did not put it down until I finished it. Doubts and determination, questions of what is happening in the rest of the world. Isolation. Wow.
