About the author

Junji Itō (Japanese: 伊藤潤二, Ito Junji) is a Japanese cartoonist and illustrator, best known for his horror manga.
Ito was born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan in 1963. He was inspired to make art from a young age by his older sister's drawing and Kazuo Umezu's horror comics. Until the early 1990s he worked as a dental technician, while making comics as a side job. By the time he turned into a full time mangaka, Ito was already an acclaimed horror artists.
His comics are celebrated for their finely depicted body horrors, while also retaining some elements of psychological horror and erotism.
Although he mostly produces short stories, Ito is best known for his longer comic series: Tomie (1987-2000), about a beautiful high school girl who inspires her admirers to commit atrocities; Uzumaki (1998-1999), set in a town cursed with spiral patterns; Gyo (2001-2002), featuring a horde of metal-legged undead fishes. Tomie and Uzumaki in particular have been adapted multiple times in live-action and animation.

ที่จริงไม่ค่อยอินฉบับนิยายเท่าไร ไม่ค่อยเข้าใจความซับซ้อนทางอารมณ์ของพระเอกด้วย พอมาเจอเวอร์ชั่นมังงะ เข้าท่าแฮะ ข้อดีคือสนุกกว่า ถ่ายทอดความเป็นนามธรรมได้ชัดเจนกว่าฉบับนิยาย บางตอนก็ เฮ้ย ในนิยายมีแบบนี้ด้วยเหรอวะ! ข้อเสียคืองานแปลไม่ค่อยเนี๊ยบ พิมพ์ชื่อผิดก็มี งานภาพดีตามมาตรฐาน พระเอกหน้าตาเจ้าชู้รวยเสน่ห์ แต่แลดูเป็นคนหยิบโหย่งเหมือนผู้เขียน (ชม)

ปล. ดำเนินเรื่องเร็วได้อีก หวังว่าเล่มต่อไปจะโฟกัสช่วงเป็นนักเขียนเยอะๆ นะจ๊ะ

Me ha parecido excepcional. No es un manga de Ito al uso. Así que no hay que esperarse el horror al que nos tiene acostumbrado. Pero la calidad de las ilustraciones y la historia se merece la máxima nota. Aunque esperaré a leer los tres tomos.

Una adaptación libre de la novela homónima de Osamu Dazai que mantiene la trama original pero aportando nuevas ideas a la evolución psicológica del protagonista. Me ha encantado. Junji Ito capta perfectamente el tono y el contexto psicológico de los personajes y los replica en un manga que tiene un pulso narrativo envidiable.

เกือบ 20 ปีก่อนตอนกระหายอ่านวรรณกรรมแปลเพื่อหาความหมายอะไรบางอย่างให้แก่ชีวิต

'ฟิโอดอร์ ดอสโตเยฟสกี' คือนักเขียนที่ผมใช้ตัวละครในงานเขียนของเขาเป็นที่ยึดเหนี่ยวสำนึกในการใช้ชีวิต อย่างน้อยก็ขอแค่มีแรงตื่นมาหายใจในทุกเช้าวันต่อมาได้ก็พอแล้ว

พอมีโอกาสมาอ่าน 'สูญสิ้นความเป็นคน' ของ 'ดะไซ โอซามุ' ด้วยความที่ภูมิหลังของตัวละครเอกในเรื่อง 'โอบะ โยโซ' ซ้อนทับกับอดีตของผมในบางเรื่อง เพราะฉะนั้นผมจึงยกให้ 'สูญสิ้นความเป็นคน' เป็นงานเขียนที่เป็นมากกว่าบทพรรณนาของความล้มเหลวในชีวิตบนโลกเฮงซวยใบนี้

U toku čitanja Osamuovog romana dobio sam pitanje: “Da li je spooky?”.

Roman, makar meni, nikada nije bio spooky, već isključivo težak i mučan.

No, Itoova manga… To je već druga priča!
Iako sam voleo trenutke u kojima Ito svojim prepoznatljivim stilom dočarava unutrašnji nemir Jozoa kroz užasavajuće i strašne slike, one su nekada, po mom mišljenju ubačene u radnju isključivo zarad šokantnosti koju bi izazvale u čitaocima, a ne zarad nekog dubljeg razvitka psihičkog stanja glavnog lika. U svakom slučaju se jako radujem daljem čitanju naredna dva dela. Velika pohvala Darkwoodu i Stalkeru na trudu i prevođenju Đunđijevih mangi.

Ja evo imam ovo izdanje mange skoro pa godinu dana i tek sad sam shvatila da je ovo Junji Itova vizuelna i pripovedačka reimaginacija Dazaiovog romana. Možda je problem i to što taj roman na našem jeziku ima jedno pet verzija naslova.

Alors j'adore Junji Ito habituellement mais là? Le personnage est juste un homme méprisant qui se croit mieux que tout le monde, l'aspect horrifique est loin d'être aussi bon que dans ce que j'ai pu lire de Ito avant. Plutôt déçue.

Horrible. Atroce. Choquant à bien des niveaux. Comment ne pas avoir d’empathie pour le personnage principal? Une lecture troublante que je ne conseille pas à tout un chacun! La quatrième de couverture mérite au moins un avertissement sur le contenu…

งานเขียนของดะไซ โอซามุในรูปแบบการ์ตูนหลอน ๆ ลายเส้นอันมีเอกลักษณ์ของจุนจิ อิโต้ โอ้โฮ ไม่อ่านได้ไงล่ะ เราชอบผลงานของทุ้งสองท่านเลย สูญสิ้นความเป็นคนฉบับการ์ตูนนี้ก็ให้ความรู้สึกอีกแบบ ต่างจากตอนอ่านฉบับนิยาย กลายเป็นกลิ่นอายหลอน ๆ ลึกลับดำมืด แต่ก็ยังคงความทุกข์ตรมหม่นหมองข้องใจและหวาดกลัวมนุษย์ไว้อย่างดี ชอบอะ รอเล่ม 2 อยากอ่านต่อแล้วส

Basado en el clásico de literatura japonesa "Indigno de Ser Humano" , el mangaka Junji Ito, nos trae una reinvención de esta magnífica obra. Sus dibujos y diálogos tan aterradores y aberrantes, hacen que esta historia de Yoza Oba, sea compleja.

El terror psicológico, el miedo a la sociedad y al mismo ser humano, reflejan en el personaje de Yoza Oba, una complejidad tan atroz que nos permite descubrir, que este protagonista oculta sus miedos a través de la Bufoneria.

A mí gusto está primera parte de tres en las que se divide el manga, abarcan desde la infancia de Yoza Oba, y su constante miedo oculto encubierto en las bromas y el ser una persona según algunos como alguien inocente, aunque en realidad el mismo Oba es oscuro.

Los trazos del mangaka, son tan exagerados, que nos muestran las sensaciones, sentimientos y otros aspectos terroríficos que tiene el ser humano, está parte abarca hasta el momento en que Yoza Oba huye de El lenguado, después de haber cometido el intento de quitarse la vida.

En si, este primer tomo, es grotesco, porque hay escenas subidas de tono, y un lenguaje completamente fuera de los estándares de una novela tradicional, el autor refleja bien los miedos y temores del protagonista y también como esos fantasmas de su pasadoz constantemente lo acompañan y lo atormentan. Este es un manga que debe leerse bajo precaución.

⚠ Pour un public averti, contient des scènes violentes ⚠

Un titre qui m’a intrigué, mais j’ignorais à quoi m’attendre. Pourtant, dès que je l’ai ouvert, j’ai été fascinée par les premières pages !

Yôzô Ôba souffre du regard qu’on porte sur lui. Ils n’aiment pas les gens, il ne supporte pas les hommes, comme il le dit si bien, ils sont plus effrayants que les esprits. De ce fait, il a trouvé une solution pour essayer de s’adapter, il fait en sorte d’être le clown de service.

Il passe son temps à faire semblant d’être un idiot. Il veut qu’on rie de lui, c’est une manière de combler le vide qu’il ressent au fond de son être. Pourtant, il a beau rire et faire le clown, une énorme tristesse envahit cet homme !

Il s’agit d’une histoire bouleversante, qui ne doit clairement pas être lu la nuit et quand vous êtes déprimé ! Le style de dessin correspond parfaite à cette histoire sombre et nous plonge dedans avec perfection. L’histoire est puissante, certaines paroles du personnage principal résonnaient même en moi parfois.

En bref, c’est un titre vraiment intrigant et en même temps sombre. L’histoire est déstabilisante, prenante et m’a touchée en plein cœur. Je pense que je me souviendrais de cette lecture pendant un moment !

Este primer volumen me presento a este personaje y todo lo que pasó en sus primeros años de vida. Bastante trágico y conmovedor. Algunas escenas si me parecieron muy fuertes. 🙈🙊🙉
Por otro lado, los dibujos de Junji Ito expresan, en mi opinión, muy bien lo que pasa el personaje y le agregan ese aire de melancolía a la historia.
Definitivamente Yozo, me parece, no podrá encontrar la felicidad. Bueno, al menos en este volumen no lo consiguió. Esperemos que tenga más suerte.

After reading the novel and the n. 1 manga almost at the same time, I definitely liked Junji Ito's work the most. I found that his unique drawing style suits perfectly the plot and I appreciate how Yozo's ghosts enter in the story and influence events.
4 stars well-deserved.

Simplemente maravilloso. Seguramente uno de mis mangas favoritos de ahora en adelante. Me encanta la forma tan cruda de tratar el trauma durante toda la vida del personaje principal. Me gusta también que haya dado ligar a mucha reflexión.

SQUALIFICATO DALLA VITA

Yozo si sente un "un estraneo tra gli umani": emarginato e a disagio ad interagire con il resto delle persone, fa il buffone per far ridere la gente, sperando di non far mai trapelare quanta angoscia e disagio che si annidano nei suoi pensieri.
La maschera che Yozo indossa per tutta la sua vita è un tentativo di auto-emarginarsi, chiamandosi fuori dai dettami della società post-bellica, quella stessa società che sta inevitabilmente cambiando e che Dazai avverte come claustrofobica. Le cattive amicizie e le scelte sbagliate fanno il resto, conducendo Yozo su una triste via.
Il romanzo di origine, Lo Squalificato, scritto da Osamu Dazai e semi-autobiografico, è un classico della letteratura giapponese che vi consiglio di recuperare.

I suoi fantasmi interiori sono resi benissimo dal mangaka Junji Ito, maestro del manga horror e grottesco giapponese, rendendo piena giustizia al romanzo da cui è stato tratto il suo manga.
Il senso di smarrimento, depressione e inadeguatezza sono espressi in tavole ricche di elementi grotteschi, cupi e crudi che rendono nel disegno la forza delle parole di Dazai.

Consigliato a chi: ama le atmosfere grottesche, cupe e ossessive.

Hubiera querido leer la obra de Dazai antes pero lamentablemente no se pudo. Aún así, pienso que Junji Ito logró hacer una gran adaptación, seleccionando aquellos fragmentos fundamentales de la infancia y adolescencia del protagonista para brindar a los lectores una posible explicación sobre la forma de pensar y actuar del personaje. Además, logró captar y retratar en cada ilustración la crudeza de ciertos eventos traumáticos, así como la carga emocional que instiga a Yôzô Ooba a tomar ciertas decisiones, evitando caer en la irreverencia y el morbo. Definitivamente necesito leer los otros dos tomos restantes.
