Destiny Jinn #2

Wish for Me: Book 2

Rate this book
A life of despair, a heart-crippling desire, and a desperate wish to belong.

When the opportunity to start a new life arises, I take it with an open mind, knowing quite well I had nothing left in my past life to hold me back.

Making the decision lands me in the heart of Fantasia, where I become an official Jinn who grants the wishes of those who desperately need it. But is every Wisher worthy of a happy ending?

As I begin my journey as Destiny the Merciful, I'm mentored by Cole, who allows Jeremiah, Luke, and Owen to assist in teaching me the life of a Jinn - and the consequences our decisions can make.

Getting to learn more about my role gives me the chance to dig deeper into my mentors' past lives, and soon I'm realizing I'm investing a lot more into our 'friendship.' Maybe I want more from all of them.

I'm not one to believe in fairy tales, and I'm not living in one, but as I travel around the world as a Jinn, granting wishes with four men who are becoming more than just mentors, deep down I'm hoping that I'll have a happily ever after.

I guess the saying is true - Be careful what you wish for...

Perfect second book in the series that leaves you wishing for more!

Disclaimer: I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book, in exchange for my honest review. However, please note that all opinions and views are my own.

Destiny Jinn the Merciful, that's Destiny's new official name and title, after she's embraced her new life in Fantasia. As a new Jinn she needs a mentor, and Cole is officially given that privilege. With the assistance of Luke, Owen and Jeremiah the guys has to train Destiny in the ways of the Jinn's. As the guys each embrace their role, they set out to teach her about choosing a wish, what to look out for, how to do research and most importantly: the consequences of granting a wish. As Destiny gets to know the guys better, she also agrees to dating all of them. This leads to them spending a lot of time together, both as a group and individually. Things starts to look up for Destiny, and slowly but steady she starts to believe she can have the life she's always wanted. Compared to previous books I've read by Yumoyori, this one almost seems chaste. Apart from a few mentions of private parts, innuendos, a few desire filled moments - that's about it (no one gets further than third base).

The lack of sexy times might just be the reason, that the group goes out and experience things together - and I really enjoyed that. It also allowed the characters individual stories and personalities to shine through, on a much deeper level than I've previously seen in Yumoyori's work. When Destiny is spending 1:1 time with her men, she gets to hear each of their sad pasts. She also learns of a M/M relationship within her harem, which is something I applaud. But things are far from perfect - for everyone - in Fantasia. Destiny She spent so much time with Cole in the first book, that I was surprised he's the odd Jinn out in this one. But as the story reaches it's suspenseful cliffhanger ending, more answers are provided. But nothing comes free, so for every answer Yumoyori provides she raises at least one new question. This makes me glad that I'm only reading this series now, so I can get straight to the third and final book without having to wait forever.

This is the 2nd book in the series and many of the events will be out of context if you don't read book 1. So stop now if you didn't read book 1 and go read it.
K, so book 2 gets more into the background of Destiny's Jinn "friends" and what makes them who they are. The love interest status is also solidified for all of the main character Jinns, though compared to other works from Yumo, the books remain fairly chaste. (Body part references and conversations, innuendos, lusty moments but no actual home runs.) This actually makes me like the story even more, because I feel like the characters personality has to shine even brighter to win over the audience. Destiny has a bit of emotional whirlwind going on, which makes things a little crazy for her and time is a bit distorted in Jinn-world as well, making it hard to tell how long they have been together but Yumo clears it up with clear statements of the time together (two weeks since xyz) though i can't remember if that's human weeks or Jinn weeks. I haven't seen a lot of Jinn or genie books so this definitely lends to the uniqueness of the stories and characters as well. Things I am a little confused on- what is Destiny's body type? I felt like in book 1 she was painted as a little thick and that was part of her human fiance's issue, but in book 2, I feel like she's been described thinner and more fit-like. I think there was some depression weight loss in book 1, but not 100% sure when visualizing Destiny

With Destiny now welcome as a Jinn this book allows readers to learn more about the past. Whilst Destiny’s past was clear. The guys was less so and given how Wilson dropped hints a lot about certain things. It was obvious there was some juicy secrets involved and it worth the wait

Wilson allows the guys to shine in this book. It’s far from just sweet and tender in this novel, there some pretty hard hitting movements. It allows readers to get into the thick of things and feel things out for themselves. This book shows how much Wilson has grown as a writer. It’s more fleshed out and allows readers to grasp characters profiles and build images in their heads.

Emotions will run high and end on a note that you won’t see coming but it wouldn’t be a Wilson book if it didn’t finish this way. It’s a beautiful second instalment and it’s only just started.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

We pick back up where book one left off with Destiny trying to learn her powers, adjust to the Jinn world, and get to know the guys better since they are her mentors. This book is one giant emotional ride when it is all said and done. Each new training exercise teaches something even more emotionally wrenching and adding the relationship building on top of it just tips the balance over until you end up feeling the entire emotional spectrum before it is over. Perfect for fans of fantasy reverse harem novels with a Jinn story line. I really liked it even if it does have a cliff hanger ending so I give it 4/5 stars.

Once again Yumoyori Wilson has written a book that is as good if not better then the first. Yumoyori has a way of weaving threads into her story that weave each book in a series together in a way that leaves you panting for more. Her books while may have tragedy and sometimes darkthemes they are always filled with love, acceptance, empathy and a dream of a world filled where beauty is defined not by how tall, or skinny, or the color of your skin but how beautiful your heart and soul is. Destiny's story is not only magical but beautiful. I cannot wait to read her continuing journey with Cole, Luke, Owen Jerimiah and rainbow.

Destiny chose to become an official Jinn who grants the wishes of those who desperately need it. She had her meeting with Mother and was designated Destiny the Merciful. Now it's time to settle into life as a Jinn in Fantasia. She's being mentored by Cole, assisted by Jeremiah, Luke, and Owen. As they each take time to train her she also learns more about the men themselves. She learns about choosing a wish, the research that needs to be done and the consequences of granting a wish. As Destiny gets to know the boys and accepts them as her boyfriends, she begins to believe she can have the life she always dreamed on, be the person she always wanted to be, get her happily ever after.

I'm not sure what to say. I thought that the beginning was a bit too much, a little preachy, a little juvenile. But it picked up after the first chapter or so. I honestly love the idea of the Jinn and granting wishes. I love seeing the background and reasoning behind the wishes and the consequences of accepting or denying the wish. The whole butterfly effect thrills me. I like Fantasia, a world of complete acceptance. I like Destiny and the boys. HOWEVER, and this is a huge however for me, the harem is broken for me. I love M/M during the relationship with the main female. This crossed a line for ME. Others can decide on their own. To me, the seriousness of the relationship, the level of emotional intimacy disqualifies them as harem material. Their past overshadowed the now and their future seems set together. My opinion only! Also, the final revelation. I'm fine with it, even fascinated by it. I had suspicions already about Destiny and her history. However, with the earlier revelation, this leaves one guy on completely unequal footing in the harem dynamics. And unfortunately, this one guy seemed to be heading toward the most balanced, most developed relationship with Destiny in this book. So for me, this harem is broken. I'm not sure that it can be fixed and because of that, I don't know where I go from here. Hopefully, Ms. Wilson can change my mind in the next book. I also didn't care much for the cliffhanger. I love cliffhangers, this particular one just seemed as if the guy was more influenced by his past, than present or potential future. I'm going to need so much from the next book or this series is lost to me.

Spoiler free, as always! As the second book in this series, this book picks up right where the last one left off. It sweeps you right in with the characters and world, and I was impressed by the further broadening of an already impressively thought out and detailed paranormal universe, one that doesn’t seem often seen in books. However, I can honestly say – compared to the oddly fast pace of the first book, I found this book to be much slower. This book is far more emotional, more about bringing detail to the characters – what would, in any longer novels, should the books have been written as a single novel, be the middle of a very long, awesome novel. However, on its own, it occasionally drags a bit, with lots of emotion and only the occasional plotline tidbit tossed out to drag the reader in further. That said, the emotional scenes are handled well, and they each have a point to the plot as well, with some fascinating twists and unexpected points in the mix that piqued my interest for the next book.

Wish For Me 2 Was Awesome!

No spoilers of any kind included except this and that is there is a wicked cliffhanger waiting at the end of this story.
But then again that’s a normal thing when it comes to this author. Lol
Yumoyori Wilson has done it again and created yet another amazing masterpiece that makes you smile, laugh, cry and growl like a insane person!
Basically another awesome whirlwind of a roller coaster ride of a million emotions!
I love the way all her books do that to me, which is probably why she’s permanently in the number one spot on my favorite authors list!
So yes it’s definitely a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book but if you haven’t read the book before this one then I highly suggest that you do otherwise you will get really confused about what’s happening and who’s who!

Cliff Hanger Alert!
I looooooved this book! It picks off right after the first book and essentially, we get to see Destiny begin to learn about her role as a Jinn. But amazingly enough, we get to learn about our men a lot more! We first get to catch a glimpse of Luke’s past and how he became a Jinn. It definitely explains why he is the kind of person he is now. I was a little surprised that Luke was the first person that Destiny really connected with. We know she connects well with Cole, but it didn’t progress to the point where she is with Luke now. Owen and Jeremiah are next, their stories are actually intertwined and definitely made me tear up a little bit. I love stories that are able to make me feel emotions for the characters. The ending did learn on a cliffhanger about Cole and Destiny and I’m going to leave it at that, but I need to know what happens next!

In this book Destiny learns more about what it means to be a Jinn and the difference between wishes. She also learns the power of wishes good and bad. As the guys each take turns taking Destiny out on wish training "dates" she learns more about each of them individually. I really love how she is getting to know them on an individual basis. The relationships are building slowly and she learns each of their backstories, well almost all of them. There are some interesting twists throughout this one and you may want some tissues and wine on hand. Such a great story line with detailed characters and lots of love to go around. I can't wait to read more about their journey in book 3, Yumo really is the Queen of Epic Cliff Hangers just saying. I loved it and I can't wait for more!

Ok, so I like the characters and what they represent. I like the pace of the relationships building and the fact Destiny is not a prude. But there were a few things not quite right about this book. For starters the way they talk to each other is not conversational. There is just no way it is a normal interaction. It’s like every time advice is given it’s one big blue out in a formal tone. Just felt stiff and strange. Not believe able that it was a heart to heart between two people. The other issue I have with this book is the underlying storyline. Usually there is a villain or mystery. Either there was nothing written in or it was so passive that it got lost in the book. Just felt like there was very little story and it was focused on constant heart to hearts. Was not gripped by this.

This review is for the whole series, except book one.

This series was a book too long. Maybe it's not that, it's that at least the length/number of pages of a book was spent talking and describing all and each of the MMCs past. it wouldn't be a problem if there was more, but there wasn't.
All that was promised in book 1 barely came to be accomplished.

I understand and love a book/series character driven. This one accomplished that, but left very, very little to the plot.
And the premise and promise of plot was AMAZING. Didn't come through though.

Despite all the above, I read the whole series in 24 hours. It was entertaining and I loved the characters.

Book 4 delivered a bit of plot, but it was totally rushed and felt a lot like YA.

So emotional. I love this series, the yin and yang of the wishes and the traumatic pasts of all the jinn mixed with the heavy emotions throughout all the lessons and getting to know her guys make for fantastic reading. Yumoyuri Wilson is an amazing writer that always shares amazing, characters with sad and traumatic pasts, but also have funny and caring personalities despite it all. Destiny, Cole, Owen, Luke and Jeremiah are all that and more. Not to mention all the amazing animal sidekicks that her strong female leads get to have through it all. With that cliffhanger ending I definitely can’t wait to get my eyes on book three!

While the first Wish for Me was a whirlwind of learning about a new existence, Wish for Me 2 is all about building those relationships! We get to learn all about the tragic pasts of the guys and we get to see Destiny really in her element. She brings love, acceptance, and light to everyone that's worthy. Her jinn power is also quite awesome. While learning the ropes, she's teaching as much as she's being taught. Wish for Me is definitely more of a slow burn, but the way Yumoyori Wilson writes has me thirsty for when everyone finally gets down to business. It ends on a cliffhanger that left me gasping. I loved it!!

The feels!

What an emotional rollercoaster! Can you imagine watching someone wish for something and watch it play out with all that comes after it for 90 days? They could change this kind about that wish based on the outcome. Their outcome could go horribly wrong or exactly right. The emotions I experienced were everything while reading this book. It makes you think twice about looking back into your past and dwelling on what you would change. Maybe that change would make things so much worse. I was so drawn into this story that I couldn't believe when it was over. I need book 3!

I for one LOVED this book! No surprise there as so far I've adored each of Yumoyori Wilson 's books. In this one, sweet Destiny slowly begins the process of learning how to be a jinn. She also learns more about her "mentors" /boyfriends along the way. Needless to say there are a few shockers along the way for all involved. Destiny is already mighty powerful and this is with only half her power unlocked by Mother Fantasia. I for one can't wait to see what a powerhouse she'll eventually become. This series just keeps upping the ante with storyline, excitement, intrigue and romance 😊💗.

AMAZING!

The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because it left a cliffhanger. Which annoys me to no end. But Destiny and the guys are back. This book delivers and gives you great context into the what being a Jinn entails. Which even though this book is fictional the life lesson aspect is so accurate. The tales told about each guy give you a sense of individuality. Cant wait to see how Book 3 goes.

This is the training of a Jinn. You will need Kleenex. I know some of the authors history and wonder if she took some parts from things she dealt with in life. You may ask yourself why? Simply because the depth and pain she writes will wrench your heart apart. However, inside the pain is such inspiration...the only thing I can say is Kleenex are needed. We also get a better understanding of them as they pour their souls out giving their individual stories.

Why did it have to end...

This series is a must read. I love the way Yumoyori's characters turn out. It is so easy to get fully immersed in Destiny and her guys' lives.
And that ending!
We find out so much necessary information in this book to help explain away the little things that have been nagging at us as the story developed....and then it ends. 😫
Now to wait until March to find out where these reveals take us. ♡

Still waiting on my lamp. But while I wait I read the continuation of Destiny's story. This book gives us a little bit of back story on each of these guys as they teach her the ropes.
Destiny definitely has a destined fate where her powers and her men are concerned.
Warning! cliffhanger! I'm looking forward to the next book.

OMG....OMG....I love this book. I cried crocodile tears in parts and laughed my head off in others. Its so hard to know that every story we've learned about how they became a Jinn has been sad. It was amazing how Destiny helped the guys sort out their memories and feelings. I cannot wait to read more and see how Destiny can help Cole and if they really were together when they were alive!

This book was so great. I think better than the first one. We get to know each guy as Destiny spends time with them. And during her Jinn lessons, she learned so much more about herself, life and her harem.
Can’t wait for more of this story as it ends in a cliffhanger, but not a big one.
Once more Rainbow stole the scene. I just love the animals sidekicks that Yumoyori creates.

Brings you in from the start

This gave me all my heartache and love. It took me in to the point I just wanted to hug them but at the same time thinking I was living it with them. I cannot wait for the next book to bring everything back in full circle and make me fall in love and hurt once again.

A must read

A great second book. The jinn world, Fantasia, and the jinn characters are so much fun and have great depth. As readers the depth is really seen as Destiny learns the guys backgrounds and has lessens about wishing. Those lessens are heart wrenching.

This book is great and a must read!!
