I don't think I can accurately describe my feelings about this book, okay??



I do know that I need a third book. Desperately. Also the author blurb in the back simply states this as "the second book in the House of Furies series" so, like with my rather stubborn ship of Morningside and Louisa, I will cling to every morsel of hope.

Yes, I am that obsessed with this series, okay?? BECAUSE THERE'S JUST SO MUCH TO LOVE!!

I got angst, a twisty plot, plenty of fascinating, intricate characters, SO MANY MORNINGSIDE AND LOUISA INTERACTIONS my favorite line that I will forever take out of context and flail happily about is when he tells her "if I prayed, you would be the answer" that my shipper heart will cling to with unshakable hope, excellent writing that is well-paced and adds just so perfectly to the tone of this series . . . ahhhhh so much to love.



And I'm soooo happy that this didn't suffer from ye awful second book syndrome!! Like, it both was its own story but also perfectly carried over from the first book?? Help, I've fallen in love and don't want to get out.

Note: also I think this is my most liked review for some reason, even though all I said originally, before the book was released and I was still flailing over the perfection of House of Furies, was this:

Няколко месеца след като прочетох първата книга завръщането ми във "Ветровала" беше приятно. Насладих се на чувството за хумор на господин Морнингсайд. Любопитството на Луиза, което е абсолютно нормално за 17 годишна. Самият Трибунал ме заинтригува от първото споменаване.. Насладата от страхотните илюстрации и в тази книга.
С нетърпение започвам третата финална книга от поредицата.

Me gustó muchísimo más que la mansión de las furias, para empezar.
Louisa creció mucho y la interacción con sus alrededores también mejoró para bien.
Madeleine logró que este libro fuera algo que se lee sin parar, con sin sinfín de elementos que logran conjugar una historia que se narra con excelencia, su mejor libro hasta ahora.
La corte y como está conformada fue una cosa super interesante, y la forma en la que se juega el bien y el mal es adorable, algo que se disfruta por su complejidad.
El señor Morningside me atrapó, tan exótico que es imposible no sentir curiosidad por lo que hará.
La idea de la carpa fue de lo mejor que he leído, muy creativo, fue como un desfile de excentricidades y seres extraños traídos a la vida como por arte de magia.
El pasado de Louisa es otro acierto, embona perfecto con la historia y nos deja perplejos ante lo que significa.
La parte como introducción/diccionario no me encantó, fue la parte tediosa pero tampoco fue tan desagradable.
Muero por saber lo que pasará, necesito el tercer libro.

Ugh, why did they do a cover change? I know I'm being fussy but they first showed a matching cover that was red to go with the first cover which is blue. It would've looked so nice!

I'm getting so sick of cover changes so that we have nothing to match with the first one we spend money on. This one isn't half as cool looking. What are the publishers thinking?

I enjoyed Court of Shadows just as much as I enjoyed House of Furies.

I highly recommend this series if you love horror or you're looking for something new to read.

On my next payday, Im going to pick up this entire series for my bookshelves. So damn good, very descriptive, detailed and fleshed out characters, excellent plot and superb pacing.

خلاصه‌ای نمی‌نویسم تا جریانات جلد اول اسپویل نشه. پس با خیال راحت کپشن رو بخونید.

همونطور که توی معرفی جلد قبلی گفته بودم مجموعه‌ی " خانه‌ی فیوری‌ها " در ژانر وحشت و ترسناک طبقه بندی میشه اما حقیقتا ترسناک نیست، حداقل برای من اینطوره. البته از حس دلهوره و هیجان و بُعد تاریک و سیاهش لذت میبرم اما واقعا ترسناک نیست. چون جلد اول رو مداتها پیش خونده بودم حس میکردم که خیلی از ماجراها و شخصیت‌ها رو فراموش کرده باشم (که حقیقتا هم همینطور بود) ولی وقتی شروع به خوندن جلد دوم کردم کم‌کم همه چیز دوباره یادم اومد. اینو گفتم برای کسانی که مثل من فکر میکنن.

خب، "بارگاه سایه‌ها" داستانی متفاوت‌تر نسبت به جلد اول داره، منسجم‌تره، اتفافاتش بیشترن و تم سیاه بیشتری داره بخصوص این که ماجراها هم عجیب‌تر میشن و رازهایی برملا میشن که خیلی خیلی هیجان‌انگیزه.

نمیتونم بگم جلد دوم رو بیشتر از جلد یک دوست داشتم ولی در حد جلد یک خوب بود به نظرم. پایانش هم مجابم کرد برای جلد سوم لحظه‌شماری کنم. نمیدونم چرا ولی کلا خوندن این مجموعه رو دوست دارم، لوییزا به عنوان شخصیت اصلی توی این جلد سختی‌های بیشتری میبینه و با چالش‌های بیشتری هم مواجه میشه. اما همچنان شخصیت مورد علاقه‌ام جناب مورنینگ‌استار است و بس...!!!

ترجمه‌ی کتاب هم خیلی خوبه، روان و خوانا... اگر دنبال یک مجموعه‌ی سیاه، فانتزی، عجیب، دلهوره‌آور و کمی هم ترسناک هستید اگر تا حالا سراغ این مجموعه نرفتید، بهتون پیشنهادش میکنم.

the story feels so much bigger in this one. with new intriguing characters, a deeper mythological/folklore background, a journal into another time which I personally loved reading about and we finally learn Louisa’s origin.

Actual rating 3.5/5 stars. This is the second instalment in the House of Furies series.

Louisa Ditton has settled into life at Coldthistle House but she still can't reconcile with the discoveries she made or the tragedies that closed the story that featured in book one. She is given little time to focus on these as new guests are arriving to her new abode and Louisa must learn to deal with the chaos they cause as well as to confront her own past, with the potential return of her estranged father.

I had anticipated book one to be a creepy read throughout and was disappointed to find this not to be the case. Either I had altered my expectations accordingly or the second series instalment had more intriguing elements to it. Either way, I found I enjoyed this story slightly more. There were more mysteries focused on and much more sleuthing and deducing taking place, from both Louisa and the reader, that made this feel far more immersive and thrilling a read.

Ако “Къщата на фуриите”, беше готически роман, с много магия и паранормални елементи, то “Трибунал на сенки” е готически роман, с още повече магия, паранормални елементи и стабилно количество кръв...
Тази разкошотия, тази прелест, тази невероятност ме оставяше без дъх на моменти, в други изкарваше щастливият злодей в мен, а в трети просто пълнех очите и се молех да не се отронят сълзи по страниците и да ги накъдря...
Просто не знам как ще изчакам да разбера какво се случва в третата книга и последна книга от поредицата Tomb of Ancients....
ПП: И да не забравя, че ако всеки един от арт хората работили по тази книга не бе взел своето участие, тя намаше да бъде същата... Благодаря ви!

I can’t say I loved the directions this book took in the end; but I enjoyed the journey getting there. Book 1 is far superior and I felt it a little spookier and more gothic. This one felt more supernatural and modern.

I also noticed quite a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes in this that I was pretty shocked to see. I think it could have used another editorial glance.

Otherwise, a solid sequel to the first book. I’m curious if she’ll write another. I think this could be way further explored, but also had a finality to it. I guess only time will tell.

Втората книга в трилогията за фуриите определено вдига летвата на поредицата. Много по-динамична, мистериозна и напрегната, историята на Луиза ще претърпи няколко душевни катарзиса, които ще дадат отговори на много от въпросите ни, но и ще ни оставят жадни за още фурийни приключения. Свръхестественото никога не е било така вълнуващо и смразяващо кръвта едновременно.

Супер ми е сладка тази поредица! Обожавам готическите елементи,а в случая това е готически роман.Тук света на паранормалното в Англия през 19век се разширява и осъзнаваме,че не всичко е само във Ветровал.Тук разбрахме повече за Луиза,повече от характера на Хенри Морнингсайд.Затвърдиха се приятелства и нови врагове.Тук книгата беше по-динамична ,повече действащи герои и повече кръв.

اینکه خوندنش خیلی طول میکشه، نیمه‌ی اول کتاب هم این جلد و هم جلد قبلی اصلا کششی برای خوندن ایجاد نمیکنه و خیلی شدید هم ریدینگ اسلامپ میشه😵‍💫

از نیمه‌ی دوم کتاب به بعد کتاب خیلی خوب میشه و پشت‌سرهم میخونید.

داستان دوست داشتم مخصوصا اینکه خیلی رازآلود شده بنظرم از جلد اول دوست‌داشتنی تر بود👍🏻
متاسفانه وقتی داشتم این کتاب رو میخوندم اصلا همه‌ی اتفاق های جلد اول رو یادم رفته بود!🥲

2nd read & review

This is a great book to be reading in October! It's creepy and exciting and we meet several more paranormal characters in this installment. The narrator continues to lull me in with her Irish accent and I can't believe how quickly this went by.

Louisa is a bit more settled into Coldthistle House now, though she still doesn't like what happens there or trust Mr. Morningside. When she hears from her father out of the blue, she isn't sure how to feel about the man who abandoned her, but is curious about her heritage and what it means to be a changeling. I loved that we learned more about the past, Louisa's father's and a long lost journal from hundreds of years ago.

The ending is more of a cliffhanger than the first book and I'm so excited to see if there's a battle in the final story. I'm also hoping we'll learn more about Mr. Morningside and what he's been hiding.

Enjoyable book! The pacing was good, which I always worry about. There were no boring parts and it picked up pretty soon after the first book. Louisa is such an interesting character. I liked seeing her develop her powers since she discovered them last book. The convening of the court was cool, with other creatures coming in and seeing all their powers as well. The journal of the ancient Egyptian warrior was a nice break in the story and I was pretty invested in what was happening with that as well. Louisa's father showing up in all his mysteriousness provided more questions and background and was interesting. I listened to the book again, since I loved the narrator and her accents in House of Furies. I definitely recommend the audiobook version! I hope there's a part 3.

dnf @ 31%… i just couldn’t do it. when i don’t find the characters likable, i just can’t enjoy a series. i figured i would try to read this and see if my opinions of the characters would change, but sadly that did not happen. plus, the plot of this book is just too complex with a bunch of new characters. i couldn’t keep up, and i knew i wouldn’t want to read more tomorrow, soooo dnf.

خب، از همین اول باید بگم که بی‌صبرانه منتظر خوندن جلد سومم!

هیجان این کتاب، به مراتب از کتاب اول خیلی زیادتر بود. پیشرفت رو کاملا می‌شد حس کرد. شخصیت‌های جدیدی وارد کتاب شدن که کارشون فقط سابیدن کف خاربن یخ‌زده نبود؛ این شخصیت‌های تازه‌وارد، تاثیر زیادی روی شخصیت اصلی و اتفاقاتی که برای رخ می‌داد، داشتن.
شخصیت‌ها، در عین‌حالی که ازهم جدا بودن، ولی بهم ربط داشتن و از اعمال همدیگه تاثیر می‌گرفتن.
خط داستانی هم، اصلا حوصله‌سربر و آروم نبود و حتی می‌تونم بگم کمی بیش از حد سریع بود و از همون اول، غافلگیری‌های زیادی رو در پیش داشتیم.
قبل از خوندن این جلد، از یکی از دوستام شنیده بودم که نویسنده توی این جلد، پای گذشته رو می‌کشه وسط.
اولش فکر می‌کردم که قراره لوییزا سفر کنه به گذشته، و اصلا فکر نمی‌کردم که پای یه واسطه درمیون باشه!
به‌نظر من ایده جلو بردن یه زمان دیگه هم‌زمان با حال، ایده‌ی خوب ولی کار سختیه.
ولی نویسنده به خوبی تونسته بود گذشته و حال رو باهم پیوند بزنه.
نمی‌دونم این احساسی بود که فقط من داشتم، یا کلا اینطوریه.
یه سردرگمی‌ای توی خط داستانی حس می‌شد...
اواخر کتاب، همه‌چیز پیچد توی هم و ازش یه چیز دراومد :) که برای من راضی‌کننده نبود. کلا نیمه پایانی کتاب(چیزی نمی‌گم، چون می‌ترسم اسپویل کنم😂) خیلی بازار شام بود. :)
یه‌جاهایی توی خاطرات بنوی رهرو هم می‌شد این سردرگمی رو حس کرد.
گرافیک کتاب(نمی‌دونم کلمه‌ی درسته یا نه.) خیلی خوب بود! تم کتاب صورتی بود(هنوزم از صورتی متنفرم) و قسمت‌هایی که صفحات دفترچه بود، کاملا متمایز و خاص؛ اول اون صفحاتی که انگار برگی از دفترچه بودن، اون تصاویر قاب گرفته هرچند فصل یه‌بار بودن...
اما هنوزم می‌گم، این دو کتاب، ترسناک نبودن. هیجان‌انگیز چرا. ولی ترسناک نه.
حداقل برای منی که از فیلم ترسناک فراری‌ام، ترسناک نبود. :)
اما ناامید نمی‌شم و در انتظار جلد سوم پیر می‌شم.
شاید جلد سوم کاری کرد که فقط توی روشنایی روز بخونمش. :)))))

THIS BOOK.

Okay. Okay. My reading backlog is monstrous but I've had a couple of days to work from home so I picked up House of Furies (Book 1) on Tuesday. I read it IN A DAY. I could not WAIT to pick up Court of Shadows (Book 2), and have once again devoured it in one sitting.

The story is absolutely delightful. There's enough danger and violence that I don't feel coddled as a reader. I expect my favorites to die at any turn. I expect everyone to have some dark secret that will instantly change my opinions on them. I expect that everything's a lie and Louisa is struggling for nothing but my entertainment. But there's also enough emotion that I feel genuinely engaged with all of the characters. I'm rooting for Louisa. I'm /rooting for the devil/.

I adore all of the intricate tie-ins to various mythos. I love the new characters introduced in this novel. I love the feel of the Court. I love the ease into the true forms of the main players. I love how Louisa feels like an organically maturing character in that she makes decisions, suffers consequences, and learns from them. And I LOVE where this book ends up.

I cannot wait for the next one!

И тази книга много ми хареса. На същото ниво като първата беше. Мрачната и готи��еска атмосфера беше в изобилие. Действието все така продължава да си е монотонно и почти да няма екшън, което бих сметнала за лек минус, тъй като аз си падам по по-бързия темп. Лека-полека започнаха да се разкриват мистериите около Морнингсайд и другите. Само ми се ще да има повече информация за самите същества. Да се задълбае повече в произхода и способностите им.
Лий доста ме дразнеше в тази книга. Донякъде разбирах защо се държи така с Луиза, но и не мисля, че тя го заслужаваше. Сигурна съм, че и той би направил същото, ако бяха разменени позициите им.
Появата на Мери ми дойде от нищото и беше доста съмнителна. Затова и не останах особено изненадана като се разбули тайната около нея.
Интересно ми е какво ще се случи с Луиза. И тази война, която се задава... Съвсем скоро ще продължа и с третата, та да си завърша трилогията. Определено не съжалявам, че подхванах поредицата. Може би единствено очаквах, че ще е по-мрачна и кървава. Но и така си е добре.

Както се оказа това не е моята книга (поредица). И втората част ми беше слаба дори може би една идея по-слаба от първата. Изобщо нямаше нищо кошмарно, страшно или ужасяващо. Отново беше сякаш чета детска приказка. Ситуациите, в които попадна Луиза не ми бяха интересни, а разказът ми беше хаотичен и с доста излишни неща, малко беше объркващо на места. Сделката, която тя сключи с Дявола беше направо смехотворна. И дори паралелният разказ на Бену не можа да предизвика вниманието ми. Явно много съм надраснала възрастта за тази книга или съм чела много по-страшни и зловещи, за да ме впечатли тази. Оценката ми е 2,5-3*

3/4 of the book was so painfully slow but the last 100 pages or so made up for it. I love Roux's work and rated it a 4 because I've really grown to admire her as a person. But if I were to stumble upon this book and had not have read any of her previous books, I would have rated it much lower.

overall, much creepier than the first (house of furies). Not necessarily scary (to me at least) but I loved the creepy imagery of Father. I thought the Egyptian touch to this story was unique. I'm disappointed that Lee and her did not end up together but maybe it was for the best? A lot of people ship Mr. Morningside and Louisa and I am soooo against this. No. Nope.

This is a super disorganized review but I'm doing it from my phone and am too lazy on this Sunday. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bastante Fail...

Lo que en un inicio me parecía interesante se me acabó atragantado y me costaba engancharme de nuevo a la historia. Si bien, el personaje de Louisa ha evolucionado bastante, me gustó más la primera parte a efectos de trama.

En éste libro veremos como Louisa comienza a conocer su poder oculto y se nos presentará a quien dice ser su padre. La parte más dinámica me ha parecido la relativa al pacto con el Sr. Morningside, ya que el resto del libro se me hacía pesado por momentos.

Veremos como se resuelve todo en el tercer y último libro....

No entiendo cuál fue el punto de hacer esta secuela en una línea tan diferente a la presentada originalmente. Completamente sin sentido y Louisa es de las peores narradoras de la historia.
De nuevo, lo único interesante es el diario del que nos van dando entradas poco a poco.
