Photographic books featuring the works of Edward S. Curtis are consistently provocative based on the unique historical value of photos of the Native American. They may be appreciated to a greater extent after studying accurate U.S. history of the 1800's and early 1900's, or after reading books such as the Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher by Timothy Egan.

So beautiful...I think this book of Curtis' work was my favorite of several that I borrowed after reading the bio by Tim Egan.
