Please read THE GATHERING first - it sets up the series and has valuable bits for readers beginning this series.

A hero who dies on the battlefield of Culloden has been living in a sort of purgatory when a witch sends him to present-day Maine to stop the heroine from committing suicide. The lone survivor of a tragic accident that killed her family, and a worthless fiance' who walked away soon after, her survivor's guilt has become too much to bear.
Despite being part of a multi-author series/world that, by my estimation, is eleventy billion books long, the author does a great job of bringing new readers up to speed that shouldn't bore readers already familiar with the world. Lots of internal conflict, emotional heft, and the author keeps the time travel stuff I generally find tedious (YMMV) reined in given the short word count of a novella. Solidly written, engaging, I liked this.
Struan Cameron, who left his family to fight for the Jacobite cause and died at Culloden, believing himself at fault for the deaths of his family at the hands of the murderous butchers of the Duke of Cumberland. Fiona Masters, scarred suicidal survivor of the explosive fire that killed her family, laden with guilt because her neglect to have the furnace serviced in the office where the family was gathered may have caused the explosion: Two people brought together across centuries by the Muir Witch, to share their stories and heal each other. Great story!
Once upon a time a Highlander named Syrian came upon a lass named Fiona. He was known as the Storyteller. His magical words, string to her to.form a harmony of sentences. His gift miraculously weave a web of fairies and lore - healing Fiona. Words can leave scars or words can heal or pave their way to a heart. Extraordinary story.... "Someone needs to.hear your story". So a story is weaved on a battlefield and won in two hearts- just beautiful.
I must confess I didn't read the first book on the series as recommended. However I fully enjoyed the Storyteller's story. It is a combination ghost and love story with a bit of history thrown in. It falls on the realm of fantasy romance and was entirely satisfying in content and the unfolding stories of the H and h. I will have to add more of this series to my reading list!
I have no.complaints! This story was told with attention to the Storytellers life and death. I love the way he appeared in her life, and how the meeting made sense! Her response was genuine and he never tried to hide who he was. We got so much resolution to their story and it made sense that they would be drawn to one another so quickly.
I like these books, but I find there are a number of inconsistencies. Example: most of the 79 are not able to be injured or, their injuries heal immediately when they're given their two days. . However in this book he was still able to be injured. Also, I am disappointed in the quality of the word processing or proofreading in all of these books.
I really liked how these characters both shared Experiences help to bring them together. Survivors remorse is a real thing and both of these people sort of had the same Circumstances although there were 300 years apart how they helped each other and they loved each other which special.
He's been a ghost for almost 300 years. She's disfigured from an accident that killed her whole family. They both carry guilt for their loved one's deaths. He's given a chance to move on if he fulfills one last assignment a witch gives him as she makes him human again. He must tell his stories.
What a beautiful, sensitive addition to the series. Death and life. Despair and hope. Two sensitive souls that find strength together. I could not put the book down until I had read the last word.
A clean, dramatic read that isn't afraid to touch on some of the darker, harder sides of life without bogging down in the despair; showing hope lives even when we think all is lost. Well done!
Wonderful love story about a highlander and 21st century woman who is hurting because of her loss of her family members who died tragically. Read on for more details.
All of these stories are great in each of their own way. This is one that I cried over. It's about holding on to survivor's guilt and not moving on with your life, or in Struan's case, moving on in death.
This was another winner and another author. She did a great job. I highly recommend all the books in this series. Their are 78 books in all. The characters and storylines are wonderful in every book.Diana Romano
Word of caution: the story features the topic of suicide. Set in 2015 Main, Fiona Masters is depressed, when Struan Cameron suddenly arrives. While Brisbane references: A Christmas Carol, to me it was more similar to: It's a Wonderful Life.
So deep and poignant. Serious awesome questions dealt with in this short, and yet honestly dealt with. Fantastic job. It made sense for the warriors to deal with these questions as well as modern humans.
I enjoyed this book, it’s a book of healing. He was sent to rescue her and she in return rescued him. I wish he had included a little more about his grandmother. Sounds like she was a real character.
Struan was a ghost on Culloden until Soni raised him and sent him on a mission. When he awoke has a person again, he saw a young woman about to end her life.
If you like a little history, a handsome Scot, and a strong heroine this is a delightful series to read. This story tugged at me emotionally and I appreciated the message shared about the importance of life.
Loved this story so much. The characters and storyline are great! This book can be read easily read in one sitting. It is a clean story. It does have a few less than ten swear words.
