Prima Donna, Moonlight Serenade, Second Birthday, Traghetto, Epiphany, and the Aquamarine Eyes short... SO MUCH HAPPENS! All of the main six shine in this volume, and I really began to feel like. Oh. They've grown up. The grown-ups have succeeded in teaching the younger generation. You really feel proud of Akari/Aika/Alice, and understand exactly what Alicia/Akira/Athena are feeling! And just like Akari, I began to get nervous, that this is all coming to a close, that these chapters are almost over, that the world I have so loved is about to change. And the series is preparing you for that moment, it's preparing you for the "it's not that past times were more fun, it's that they were also fun" mentality. If Amano reached peak artistic capability in volume 5, she reaches peak character development in 6, and it's just a joy to experience.
‘Aria: The Masterpiece, Volume 6’ with story and art by Kozue Amano is a manga set on the planet Aqua and the gondoliers who travel its canals.
Akari Mizunashi is learning the ways of becoming an undine, or gondolier, with Aria Company. Along the way they build a new pallina for their dock, celebrate Epiphany in a magical way and attend a moon viewing party. The seasons change and gentle friendships abound.
I have loved every volume of this series I’ve read. The setting and characters are so gentle and sweet. The stories are so positive and uplifting. Book me on the next flight to Aqua!
Love love love this series to absolute bits. I get why some people don't like it, there is very little plot, it's really all just day to day life, but I just find it absolutely endearing and calming. The art is beautiful and detailed, with a lot of two page spreads of the landscapes. I have also wanted to go to Venice for the longest time, so that has something to do with my love of this series as well. If you are looking for a calming, lazy read, this is perfect.
There isn't much left for me to say about this series. It is just such a chill experience. The art is gorgeous and the color pages are incredible. The world is full of little details that are constantly being explored. The characters are endearing and fun.
I received this manga from the publisher/Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
Eep! I am so happy that the newest volume in the Aria: The Masterpiece is out, or well, on Netgalley. I am a bit sad though.. because the next volume will be the last one. And I don’t want this series to end just yet. I don’t want to leave Neo-Venezia. Especially not after going to the real Venice last year for my honeymoon.
This one is navigation (still love that instead of chapters it is navigation) 51 to 60 along with 2 special navigations.
We learn more and more about Venice and about how undines know what ways to go or what poles are best to tie their gondolas to. I love getting more information about the job, about how things work, we are at volume 6 and you would think we learned all that we could learn, but apparently not. Yay! And it becomes a bigger point in the first navigation as Akari gets the job to fix an old rotten palina herself.
Next to learning more about the job, we see the passing of time even more clearly than in the previous books. I know the ending already (saw the anime many times), and I love the build-up towards it. Akari and her friends are growing and soon they will be full undines.
And of course there is plenty of other things, like that Alice has some fun games to play after school, we see childhood friends and the past of several characters which had me delighted (though the art for the characters really wasn’t my fav), Aika and Al get stuck in a well and I was just praying for a kiss, that moment during the 2nd birthday of a certain someone gave me tears, lots of motivation and lessons, Christmas and Epiphany, and before I knew it the volume was over. It was just so much fun to read this one.
I would once again highly recommend this manga to everyone looking for a slow slice of life with fantastic backgrounds, art, and characters.
