Casey Owens

After a night of partying, Casey had to grow up fast. At a time when most fifteen year old girls were worrying about what they wanted to wear to the next dance, she was worrying about how she was going to finish school while raising a child. The whispers, the dirty looks, and having to see the boy who raped her every time she went into town, turned her into a recluse. When her old Pack Mate, Lily Quinn, reaches out and offers her a haven in New Orleans, Casey takes it. All she wants to do is raise her son and be happy. She didn't need a man in her life for that, but one look at Nikolai and she started having second thoughts.

Nikolai Romanov

As a Siberian Tiger Shifter unable to return to Russia, where the rest of his species lived, Nikolai had accepted a long time ago that he would never find his mate. While some, like his brother, chose to marry humans, Nikolai chose to remain alone. The moment he catches Casey's scent he is drawn to her. When his eyes lock onto the petite blond, he refuses their bond. She was a wolf; he was a tiger. It wasn't possible. So why, when she leaves New Orleans, does his tiger pine for her as if he'd lost his mate?

Radiant Violets is the fourth book in Angel Nyx’s NOLA Shifters series, although it works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. The NOLA Shifters series is one of those series where each book works perfectly fine as a standalone novel, although you understand side characters better if you have witnessed their stories play out in the prior books. In fact, I’ve only read book three – Midnight Orchids – and at no point have I been at a disadvantage.

Although I did enjoy Radiant Violets, I did not enjoy it quite as much as I enjoyed Midnight Orchids. Whilst Midnight Orchids was a solid four-star rating, Radiant Violets was a rounded up four-star rating. It was quick and enjoyable, hooking me in so I completed the book in a single sitting, yet it didn’t quite pack the same punch as the prior book – hence why it was a rounded-up rating and not a solid four-star rating.

I think the reason I wasn’t as crazy about this one was because there was less action. There was plenty of drama, yet it wasn’t the kind that resulted in pumping adrenaline. It was enjoyable, it had me hooked, it was unique, and it keeps you turning the pages; however, it felt rather simple when compared with the prior book. Both Midnight Orchids and Radiant Violets deal with heavy topics, and I feel as though there was more depth with the prior book than the latter.

It was well done, I’m not claiming otherwise, I’d simply anticipated a wee bit more. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this one and will certainly continue to read the NOLA Shifters series. In fact, I really do need to go back and read the prior books so I can fill in some blanks about side characters.

Another wonderful shifter romance that will tug all your heartstrings!

Casey's childhood was interrupted by an assault, and while she's grateful for her son, Jacob, she's ready to leave Montana and make a fresh start with her friend, Lily, in New Orleans. It seems heartache is just following her everywhere when she meets Nikolai only to have him instantly reject the mate bond they both feel.

Nikolai was caught completely off-guard by his recognition of Casey as his mate, and it takes him longer than it should to figure out what he's going to do about it. But when he finally gets his head on straight, it's just in time to protect her from the threat that followed her and her son from Montana.

I loved how strong Casey was, even when nothing seemed to be going right for her. And Nikolai proved himself worthy of her, making up for lost time and pulling out all the stops to show just how ready he was to claim his mate. Their romance was sweet and heartwarming, and it was very gratifying to see Casey and Jacob adopted into their new Pack, giving Casey the support she needed to really spread her wings and become the woman she was meant to be.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I have been following author Nyx since her first book. This latest in her shifter series shows clearly the growth of her writing skills. In my opinion, her greatest strength and one that is both entertaining and sought by readers is character development. She obviously researches heritage, type, and gender to craft players you come to care about. She leaves no question remaining as to motive or intentions and she makes the raw facts of life's hardships real. This is a feel-good story of difficult beginnings and all that they entail culminating in happy endings. Radiant Violets will be enjoyed by any romance reader, whether you have previously read Paranormal or not.

A wonderful addition to the series

Each book in this series builds upon the last. Bringing these two together was a stroke of genius. Loved it!

As usual from this author there is just the right mix of paranormal and romance. I have found an interest in shifter novels due to this unparalleled author, without giving a real spoiler I will say, she never disappoints.

This is the fourth book of Angel's NOLA shifter series. It is a standalone with interconnected characters.
Radiant Violets is a little different pace than the other books in the series. It is more about the growth of the charatchers rather than action. There are some pretty strong themes in this book that could pose a trigger risk for some readers. I felt it was done in a way that was tastful (as much as such things can be done.) Casey is a strong woman who has had to deal with so much. I love that she gets her HEA.
Again we get to see the others in previous books.
Angel has definitely grown as a writer

I look forward to reading more of Angel's books.

The best

I have to say that I think this book is the best in this series so far. It is Casey and Nikolai's story and was wonderful. When she was nust a teeneager she had been through something traumatic but she was so strong and kept going. The these are so perfect together once Nikolai gets his head in gear and gives them the real chance they deserve. I absolutely adored her son so much. Really could not put this down.

Excellent Shifter Tale. Casey and Nikolai feel the mate bond when they first meet, but Nikolai rejects it because they are two different species. Casey is devastated and Nikolai must work hard to persuade her to give him a second chance. When trouble arrives, Nikolai is right there, supporting Casey all the way. I loved following their romance and enjoyed this story from start to finish.

Nickolai is a Tiger shifter and Casey is a Wolf but when they meet it is clear that they are destined mates. He first tries to deny it believing that it must be a mistake but comes to his senses and wins her heart.
