What happens when a man is so obsessed with power he turns to evil to get it, discovers that he can’t have what he wants, will he destroy everything in his path or will good find a way to triumph?

Joslin has already had a long summer, and now her sister’s in trouble with the witch’s council. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she’s been paired with her soon to be brother-in-law’s baby brother to defend the pair. He’s a nice enough kid, but from what she’s seen that’s all he is. But she soon discovers that’s there more to Jake Brooks than meets the eye when he makes the ultimate sacrifice to save her.

Jake has had a crush on Joslin Simons since he met her months ago. In fact, she’s the reason he didn’t complain when his brother Justin asked him to come with him to New England to get married. He knows that he has no chance with her, that she’ll never see him as anything but a kid, but that doesn’t stop him from dreaming. When he’d suddenly faced with the chance to save Joslin from a man bent on making her his wife, he finds himself with the woman of his dreams as his wife.

Will his sacrifice be the enough or will the evil that lurks just around the corner destroy them both and the love that grows between them?

Disappointed. :(

After reading the first book "Justin", I was anticipating a story that was original and interesting. I partially got that, but I was mostly disappointed that the author used the witch's "magic" like it was an unending source and could do just about anything. Joslin 'helped' and built cabins for the wedding guests. The question is, "At what cost?" Never did the author mention the witches being anything but tired after performing a great deal of magic. There has to be a consequence of expending that much magic or all the witches would be doing whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. In fact they could come out of hiding and control everything. The author even made up a 'locomotion' spell to go from place to place. Why not use that instead of taking an airplane ride? It barely cost anything except the magic expended.

She also used the shifter "magic" in the same manner. In order to facilitate spying, she allowed them to shift into any animal or bug. She never mentioned this in the first book "Justin". If they could do that then why didn't they shift into a giant animal who could stomp the begeezus out of the wolf shifters? Why did the wolves have to stay wolves? This opens a very wide area of "let's just shift into whatever". She also never resolved the question that if the Fairplay Shifters transformed into a animal, what happened to their clothes?

Although the emotions and growth of the protagonists was great, I felt like the author was using both magics to skip around and not do her job of explaining actions and consequences. Basically it felt like a decent story with magic thrown in just to say it was a paranormal book. There was no logic to the magic part of this story.

I would NOT recommend this book. I will not be reading the rest of the books in this series.

This is the second book third if you count the prequel in the Fairplay shifter series and I must say it is getting better with each book. While each book can be read as a stand alone I would recommend that you read them in order to get the full benefit of this wonderful storyline

This is Jake and Joslin's story. Jake younger brother of Justin from the previous story and Joslin the younger sister of Annabelle (Justin's mate) They are about to act as defense in the trial of Annabelle who is accused of using black magic to save Justin's life (see previous book) . Both will need to grow up and step up if they are to save her and ultimately the both of them But enemies from the sisters past are now after Joslin will jake be able to keep her safe It is time for this young man to prove that he can be the man he needs to be.

Jake, Justin, Anabelle and Joslin are facing the witch council on charges Deacon has brought forth. He claims they used black magic to save Justin. The council will hear the stories and hold a trail to determine the outcome. Meanwhile, they could not understand how Deacon was on the council and their father was not there. When they discover he is under a spell, they put plans into motion to thwart anything Deacon may do. They will have to become spies to discover what is happening, what is being planned, and to come up with one of their own to beat him and oust him to the council. It will be dangerous doing what they have planned taking risks that could result in someone’s death. What will they plan? Will they be able to prove Deacon is using black magic? Will anyone die because of the plan? Stay tuned to find out~

A mountain lion shifter and a witch

This is the second book of the Fairplay series. It is a Colorado valley town. Jake is the youngest brother of Justin and Joslin is the twin sister of Annabelle from that book. Jake and Joslin marry at the ranch, and Annabelle and Justin are married. Deacon was engaged to Annabelle, having put her parents under a spell. Thanks to the spell, he had gotten her father to sign a marriage contract. The story is about how the two couples outwit the male witch. Great read.

I enjoyed reading this third book in the series of Fairplay Shifters. This book was exciting wondering what was going to happen next and held your attention and interest. I voluntarily reviewed this for an honest review. She now has to face the witch council for using black magic to save Justin’s life and not for evil. Annabelle, Joslin, Justin, Jake & her mother learn that her father sold her to Deacon to marry. They realize Deacon has placed a controlling spell on her father. Joslin a twin but so different from her sister Annabelle. Jake baby brother to Justin, Annabelle's intended. So Jake and Joslin have to prove that Annabelle did not use Black Magic to save Justin. I tell you this Deacon is a real piece of cake. He only cares for power and money. Well I hope that the good guys take care of him real good. I loved the story. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

Loved this second book in the series, it is about Jake and Joslin who must work together to prove that her sister Annabelle didn't use black magic to save his brother Justin life. They also prove to themselves that are as strong in their own right. This is great read with twists and turns, adventure, magic and romance. Would recommend this book and the 1st one. I voluntarily reviewed this book for a honest review.

A short sweet read, that brings out that age does not mean you can't fall in love. Joslin is standing up for her sister and Jake is standing up for his brother, during a counsel meeting for Joslin's sister that they are saying used black magic. Deacon is causing problems for them both. Can they prove her innocent? Can they prove it's Deacon using black magic? What will he do to get one of the sisters? Can the shifters and witches protect them? I received a free copy for my honest review.

Another great read! This follows on from Justin and delivers a really good tale. Jake, Justin's brother and Joslin, Annabelle's twin are asked to assist with the council hearing after Annabelle is accused of using black magic. Therein lies the tale as they all work to defeat Deacon and prove her innocent.
All in all a really good tale with romance and drama thrown in

I received this as an ARC and am freely leaving this review, which is written without reservations

Jake

Jake always felt like everyone treated him like a child. Being the baby of the family isn't always a good thing. Joslin like being the second twin, she was free to do whatever she wanted. Until Jake arrives back in town for his brothers wedding to her sister.
Great story loved the characters and the storyline.

I enjoyed the story and the characters. I do recommend reading the books in order as it does directly relate to the earlier book.

They made a good couple and I liked how they were very honest with one another. I prefer books like this that are written from both of their points of view.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Joslin sat down beside her sister, Annabelle, at the Witches’ High Council. Annabelle had fallen in love with a sexy shifter, Justin. However, someone had accused Annabelle Simons of using black magic, and she needs to answer to those charges before she can marry her mate. Joslin is there to provide support for her sister who looked outwardly calm but was actually a bundle of nerves inside. Joslin was thinking that Deacon, Annabelle’s ex-fiancé, was most likely the reason they were called here for this. Annabelle had saved Justin by using a spell to give him some of her life force. It wasn’t black magic, but the council was required to investigate once such an accusation was made. Then again, when she looked over at her father’s smug face, Joslin could well imagine that he might actually be the one who reported the incident!

Because Annabelle faced a serious penalty -- being stripped of her power in the coven -- her father had to select someone else so sit in his place on the Council. Everyone was shocked when Deacon walked over and took the seat, because he was the one man who would love to see Annabelle lose everything to appease his own ego and get his revenge!

Jake is Justin's youngest brother. Justin had asked Jake to accompany him to the Council hearing to show support for him and Annabelle. As part of the investigation, Jake and Joslin find themselves having to work close together and Joslin starts to see him as more than “the kid”. Can they find a way to show that Annabelle was innocent of the horrible accusation? Can Joslin open her heart to Jake?

This was a very enjoyable, well-written book. The story line keeps the reader involved through twists and turns and suspense. The characters are strong and the reader will find them realistic and worthwhile getting to know. Grab your copy and see if Joslin and Jake can save Annabelle and maybe find something for themselves as well!
