Rai Peterson is hanging on by a thread.

Having fled her abusive father and equally abusive fiance, she finds herself in rural Indiana working the front desk of an antiquated inn. After a bizarre hallucinatory seizure forces her on unpaid medical leave, Rai struggles to make ends meet. She has no one to turn to but herself; no friends, no family. Utterly alone.

That’s when the fires start.

Along with the flames, comes a dangerous stranger that begins to permeate every aspect of Rai’s life, kidnapping her and forcing her on a journey of self-discovery that she never knew possible. Rai can feel her power vibrating within her, but will she be able to harness it before time runs out? These answers are written in ember, invisible as air.

This was a whole lot of fun. What started as a girl out of place struggling at a new job quickly evolved into a fascinating paranormal adventure. Rai was my kind of heroine, flawed but strong. As the story progresses she really grows into herself. August, her boss, is cold but sexy and I knew at the onset there was something more to him just as Rai did. There was a strand of romance, but the story really took the front seat which was perfect for me, because I was totally wrapped up in the elementals and what was happening there. I don’t want to give away much so I will just say there were a lot of surprises, plenty of action, and great world building. There was a cliff at the end that has me eagerly awaiting the next part. Recommend for fans of fantasy and romance.

An Elemental Mystery Begging to be Solved

Burning Violet is such an interesting and intriguing read. From the very start of the book I was hooked. I loved the way Rai’s life shifts from being down and out to empowered as she discovers who she really is inside. The dynamics between Wolfram and Rai is electric, yet there is always something coming between them. This story was a departure from the usual good versus evil and was delivered in a very unique and satisfying way. Great job! I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book!

I really enjoyed this book, that has it all: Dark elements, humorous elements as well as some hot and steamy scenes. And with "Hot and steamy" I literally mean hot and steamy cause that is what the characters do and/or cause. A lot of fire :). Not just between them but also within their environment. This book is perfect for everyone who enjoys paranormal fiction with a pinch (or more ;)) of romance.

“Burning Violet” is a fantastic paranormal romance that I couldn’t put down! I loved following Rai on her journey of self-discovery, and especially her time with Wolfram. The two of them together was “firey,” to say the least.

The characters are fleshed out and fresh. The writing is great, as is the world building. I can’t wait to read more from this author, and to continue Rai and Wolfram’s story.

If you love hot and steamy paranormal romances, you MUST read this!

Couldn't put it down

Absolutely loved Burning Violet, And I genuinely could not put it down
From the very first page it pulls you in, Rai is completely relatable as a girl who is down on her luck and Wolfram is written amazingly well. Really believable characters that had me questioning their motives, a brilliant plot and the whole Elemental world was perfectly described. Very much looking forward to the next in the series!

Rai grew up as an adopted daughter of a rich businessman that only saw her as a burden. Trying to appease him she gets engaged to Evan who cheats on her. While her life is falling apart on all fronts she meets Wolfram a fire elemental and discovers she’s one as well. Unfortunately for her she has a mixture of elements in her blood not just one as is the norm. There is a romantic element in the story with instant attraction but I assume it’ll develop more later in the series. The story has humor and action that will make you flip through the pages easily. It needs editing and that’s my only complaint. Fun story to read!

This book isn’t your typical urban fantasy romance. I particularly like the fact that you are quite far into the story before you are sure if Wolfram is a good guy or a bad guy. This book has some interesting concepts, like travelling stones, and the author has developed an interesting world where magic exists in different forms.

There are a lot of questions in this book. Who and what is Wolfram? What happened in room 13? How is Rai involved? What is really going on? Not all are answered, leaving the reader wanting to read book 2.

However, there are also some confusing parts. How elementals age, for example, and why Rai isn’t affected. I am confident that everything will be made clear later in the series.

A wonderful read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! The story revolves around Rai, a young woman that hasn't had the best kind of upbringing, no mother, and abusive rich father and freshly out of an abusive relationship with her fiance and now living on her own with nothing. Strange things happen around her, ever since having a terrible seizure at work, like seeing a man saving people from a burning building and then vanishing before her eyes. Fires seem to happen around her and strange man seems to be a part of it. As her health takes a turn for the worse, the strange man is able help her get better, but in doing so opens up a whole new world that Rai never knew existed and she becomes the focal point of intrigue and ire on many fronts. A beautifully written story that will have you guessing and keep the pages turning. I highly recommend this one!

Yes! Seems as if I’ve found a new urban fantasy series to keep my eye on. The story travels fast with a seemingly normal heroine named Rai struggling to keep her job after a medical leave. Then the fires begin and she realizes that her boss, August, is not who he says he is. Thrown into another realm filled with royalty and magic, Rai soon learns the truth: she’s something more than just a receptionist at a hotel, she’s powerful. Caught between the feud of the fire and air kingdoms, Rai struggles to find strength in herself and shut down the evil group Wildfire before they can cause her or anyone else, more harm.

I think the best part about this book was how it shifted from such normal scenes at the beginning and slowly became more and more magical until the reader could forget that Earth was ever in it to begin with. We see the same kind of transition in Rai’s personality as she struggles to learn the truth of her birth and herself.

Definitely recommended for fans of romance, paranormal, and fantasy.

Burning Violet is an action packed, unpredictable story with a thread of romance. The author has built an incredible and exciting world. I was hooked from the beginning. Although it's an intriguing fantasy it is also a story Rai's journey of self discovery. I highly recommend this fantasy novel.
