Edith is trying to lose weight in every way imaginable to get into a certain dress by the time Salt and Birdie's April wedding rolls around. Olympia dies suddenly, leaving her daughter Annie the beloved old house, which she can't afford to keep and maintain on her professor's salary. Leaving it would be cutting herself off from Heavenly Daze, and she can't bring herself to do that, although A.J. is urging her to move to New York to be near him. Plus, Caleb tells her he's being "transferred" at the end of the month! Annie has to learn how to find God's will . . . and open herself up to a new love that's been under her nose the entire time.
Lori Copeland was born on 12 June 1941. She had a relatively late start in writing, breaking into publishing in 1982 when she was already forty years old. Over the next dozen years, her romance novels achieved much success, as was evidenced by her winning the Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award, The Holt Medallion, and Walden Books' Best Seller award. She has been inducted into the Missouri Writers Hall of Fame.
Despite her success in more mainstream romantic fiction, in 1995, she decided to switch focus. Her subsequent books have been in the relatively new subgenre of Christian romance. She has also collaborated with authors Angela Elwell Hunt or Virginia Smith on a series of Christian romance novels.
Lori and her husband of over forty years, Lance, live in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by the beautiful Ozarks. They have three grown sons, three daughter-in-laws, and six wonderful grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. She and her husband are very involved in their church, and active in supporting mission work in Mali, West Africa.
“Are [angels] not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14
In this final book of the series, the angels continue to minister to the residents of the Island of Heavenly Daze as they struggle with their flaws.
Many surprising things happen: a terrible accident, a funeral, an unexpected pregnancy, a wedding, and a realization of love.
Sometimes love can surprise you, and that is how it went with my husband and me. He was a friend, really my best friend, and then it dawned on me that I loved him, but it was a few months before we began a courtship of sorts. I remember driving down Forest Avenue in Portland, the same Portland in the book, in the middle of winter in my little Honda Civic hatchback saying out loud, “I love C___!” Anyway, I’m somewhat off topic because tomorrow is our anniversary: 22 years. However, this book reminded me of a time when love was staring me right in the face and I didn’t immediately see it.
I have one negative comment. There is a description of heaven that didn’t sit well with me. I know this is fiction, but I think it just didn’t match up to what I have read in the Bible and I felt uncomfortable with the speculation.
Overall, this was a fun, lighthearted series, perfect for summer. Clean fiction. Clean romance.
3.5 ⭐️ Book 5 of 5 Hearts at Home by Lori Copeland and Angela Hunt Published by Thomas Nelson Christian Fiction
This was cute and charming, but almost too cute. It is the last book in a series (and I haven't read the others)about the inhabitants of an island off the coast of Maine. This island is not only inhabited by humans but also by angels (who the humans believe are other humans). This book focuses on Annie, a 30ish young woman who was raised by her aunt, who is the last descendant of the founder of the island. Her aunt dies, and leaves her this large money pit of a house. She is also trying to decide if she wants to get serious with her boyfriend. The other main character is Edith, the pastor's wife, who is dieting to try to fit into a dress. Of course she is in a hurry and doesn't want to follow the sensible "pound pinchers" diet, but rather tries every fad out there. Everyone lives happily ever after, and while the book is full of religious thoughts, for some reason they just don't seem serious. It was kind of a fun read, and yet, kind of silly too.
Funny, warm & witty series of stories about a group of angels sent to watch over the people of this small and quirky island. Blended and balanced beautifully between drama and comedy almost seamlessly. Worth reading the entire series because each book has it's own "tone". One is more romantic, one sadder and another complete silliness with a good shovel full of comedy. This is not a series just cranked out for money, but each book says something different. Something you will want to "hear". Enjoy them all. I certainly did!
This is a cute, sweet Christian fiction series. I enjoyed the books I read from it, even if it isn't particularly earth shattering. Sometimes you need books like that.
Enjoyable and excellent finish to the Heavenly Daze series! Through the storms of winter, the death of matriach Olympia de Cuvier and an upcoimg wedding of two residents, the residents are coping with changes from the lack of a regular ferry this winter, what is goint to happen to the deCurvier estate and massive house, will Anne sell the house or move permanently to the island and more. I will miss the wise wisdom from the angels who help out around the island, the humor and creative lifestyles of the resdients and the peace that comes from living in an islolated place. Having lived in a town in Alaska with only the ferry or floatplanes for access until the 1960's, I recognize the closeness of the people in town and helping one another.

So sad to see this series end. Was very leery at first about the concept of the angels but found them surprisingly endearing. The whole series was well-written, with great depths of character. Definitely reminded me of the Mitford series! Would love to see the series extended! This was my first read from these authors and I will definitely be searching for others they've written.
And enjoy the sweet and tearful ending of this last book about our friends in Heavenly Daze. I am sad that there are no more adventures, but I can always go back there in my thoughts and wonder about what are they doing now...
I really did like the premise of this book concerning Gods angels caring for us here on this earth etc but brutally honest, I had to make myself finish this book. It didn’t capture me within the first few pages like a normal Lori Copeland.
A nice ending to this series about a group of people living on a small island off the coast of Maine who are surrounded by real angels sent there to minister to these people. This one finds the residents facing more loss as well as joy.
What an excellent series! Loved all 5 of these books- a very original plot with endearing characters. I hated to say goodbye to the folks of Heavenly Daze.
Have you ever cried at the end of a book series…just because you will never read about these characters again!? I truly have enjoyed this series!!! Thank you!❤️
"Hearts at Home" is # 5 in the series. I was given a stack of books bound together in not the right order. So, it's time to figure out what I need to write now.
It was a heartwarming book and I would recommend it, but in the right order.
I have now read this fifth book of the Heavenly Daze Series for the second time, and in order. I definitely enjoyed it much better this second time through, and it made more sense.
Now I'm saying goodbye to all the Heavenly Daze folk. That's the neat thing about reading... you get to meet so many different people from all over the world! lol (Yes I know it's fiction but it sho feels real!) This last book in the series was pretty good. I don't think I'd liked these books near as well if I'd not read them in succession! Otherwise it wouldn't mean much when a character was mentioned in the background... hmmm??? would I recommend these books? I'm not sure... life is so short and there are so many books to choose from. Maybe I'm getting pickier but I want more 4 and 5 star books in my life! These were okay and kept me entertained and were far better than watching the drivel that comes on TV lately! Definitely made me turn my thoughts toward heaven and God and how I'm living my life... and certainly that's a good thing, but I think I need books with a little more... depth? plot? action? suspense? And I know Christian fiction can be all that and more! Still... these books were an easy read and if that's what you want... go for it! I did...
This is the 5th and last book in the Island of Heavenly Daze series. I absolutely loved the other four, but found this one less than dazzling. The continual focus on Edith's diet for the wedding just didn't make this ending book very interesting. Also if you hadn't read the other books, it would have been very difficult to figure out the other characters who lived on the island. I was hoping for a better wrap up.
I believe this might be the last book in the series. I needed kleenex to finish it. Loose ends are tied up but I would love to read more about Heavenly Daze Island. I would like to believe that angels are really watching over me and maybe giving me advice directly from the Lord, but most of all that I would listen to hear HIS voice. Blessings to all the "friends" from Heavenly Daze Maine!
Clean and Christian book with very good humor. I would have liked for it to have more on the characters and issues it focused on in "A Perfect Love". Over all was still just as humorous as the others. I would read another if there was one! Unfortunately, the series is over.
