The God of War has never been a popular presence on Olympus. But his glowering looks and stern expressions have a much deeper cause.
Aloof and as changeable as the winds of conflict, Ares has always carried tragedy with him wherever he goes. To bring suffering is his destiny, his mother saw to that, but even the Lord of Swords must take time to breathe the sweet air. Even Ares must rest.
The God of War has fought against the prophecy for so long that it seemed impossible to bring him to heel. But there is more at work here - a secret that keeps him separate from the plight of his father, his uncles, and even his brothers.
Nikos is a man without a future, a college student without direction or ambition to do anything to take him away from his lonely island home. He’s listened to his fathers’ stories about the Olympian gods and their selfish ways since he was a child, and the mythology is as real to him as if it had been acted out in front of his face.
When the God of War is confronted with the truth about his destiny, what lengths must a mortal go to convince a God that sometimes Fate cannot be ignored? And what must a God do to ensure that his legacy is protected?
Marble Heart is book 5 in the New Olympians series. 35,000 words, with a HEA featuring a willing omega a stubborn alpha-god to claim him.
Marble Heart is Ares book and of course being the God of War his story is totally intense, full of suspense and a fair amount of violence. There are also a number of scorching hot naked times between Ares and Nikos. Add in Ares' son who is beyond adorable and battles between the gods and the result is my favorite book of this series thus far. What a ride... this was a huge page turner and I read it in one sitting. LOVED IT!
Finally I got to read Ares' story. He was such a mystery all through the series. He was always kind of mean to everybody. I had half of a mind to dislike him but the ending of the fourth book intrigued me. Wow, does he have a reason to be angry. I started to like him the more I read this book - his protectiveness and his gentle side (yes, he has one!). Even though he is extremely stubborn to the detriment of himself and those he loves (ahem, God of War here) in the end he learns from his mistakes and makes a great effort to do better.
Niko is a person who goes with the flow while trying to make his father happy. It's a hard thing to do since their view of happiness is completely different. When Ares and Niko meet Niko is sort of at crossroads and any event can sway his direction. The relationship between them is pretty much the same as with other couples - it's fast, kinky and uncertain. I liked that Ares gave Niko time to think things through. I loved how fierce Niko was. Even when scared, hurt and confused he stood his ground. Ares while being arrogant and hard-headed was able to unbend, let go of the past and finally let the love in his heart. BTW, the intimate scenes are somewhat rough here, so be in the know.
Even though relationship is featured in this book, it takes a second place to that of the gods finally hashing their differences out in a most spectacular fashion. That was an awesome showdown! I loved how Ms Vincent finally showed the dynamics between Gods and Goddesses, how creatively she turned this meeting into a dramatic and volatile spectacle! I loved it all! I highly recommend it! I enjoyed it thoroughly!

YASSSS! With this book, this author has gotten the series back on track for me! After being more than a little bit disappointed with the last book and Hermes' story, I was still hopeful that Ares' story would be a winner, and I'm happy to say that it really was.
Ares has been in and out of previous stories, and he was always secretive and bit of a grump. Now we find out what he's been dealing with during this time and why he is the way he is. I don't want to give anything away, but his story is definitely a bit different than the other gods in terms of his spark. I really enjoyed Niko being paired with him, I loved his knowledge of the Greek gods and history and how he coped with being with Ares, and how he brought some joy back to Ares' life.
However, most of all, I LOVED that this one was so different from the previous stories. I had been worried that they were all going to follow the same formula - god meets his human spark, sexy times commence, the goddesses find out and try to kill his human, god makes the human immortal. This one was completely different, refreshing, and also moved the overall plot along in terms of Hera and her control over the gods.
I cannot wait for Hephaestus' story now. Bring it on!
Marble Heart featuring Ares as the God of War is one of my favourites in the series as it introduces something that is unknown to the rest of Olympus and this God will go to war to hide his secret while using every weapon in his arsenal to protect his mate.
This one has me a little confused, because it is actually my favorite of the series, but I also would have liked more of the relationship between Ares and Niko. I really like where the series arc is heading after the events of this book, and I liked Ares much more than I expected to. The story of him and the spark that he lost brought out a side of him I didn't see coming, and I loved that. Cayden is a delightful addition to the story, and the relationship that develops so quickly between Cayden and Niko is so sweet. At times, I saw some of what Ares was feeling towards Niko, but it seemed like their relationship could have used a little more sweetness to it. I like rough and kinky as much as the next person, but the way Ares was about Julio, and then seeing how he was with Niko, confused me a little. In all honesty, it might just be that my expectations for the relationship were a little skewed based on Ares' feelings about what happened in the past, so that might just be a personal issue. Regardless, it is why I dropped the rating to 4 stars. As I said, this book is still my favorite so far, I just wish there was a little more focus on the relationship. I am really excited to see what happens next with Hera and Persephone, and especially Hephaestus.
I love this series and jump on every new book when it comes out. I just can't wait to see how the next thing is going to happen.
Ares already knows how to get around the curse that Hera, Amphitrite, and Persephone put on the gods. He just didn't share it before Zeus figured it out. Ares already knew all about the sparks because he had found, and lost, his, but not before he got a son named Cayden out of it. Now, he keeps Cayden safe in a sanctuary on Samothrace, even though his friend Thero, who watches Cayden urges him to take Cayden to Olympus to let him know about his heritage.
Niko has spent his whole life on Samothrace, except for when he's at school. His father wants him to be part of the museum staff and marry a good Greek girl, even though that's not what Niko wants to do. He'd rather be out on the beach, catching fish, enjoying the world, and exploring.
Niko and Ares have so much chemistry between the two of them. It's explosive. I mean, you can just see everything blowing up in between the two of them, and they aren't willing to do anything to put it out. There are a lot of huge changes coming and I can't wait to see what comes next, because wow.
First I have to say that I loved this story but I wish I had read the other books in the series first because I would have got more of a background of Ares and why he was the way he was. But with that said I loved how this story played out. Ares is the God of war and he brings down destruction wherever he goes. But Ares is looking for something in life that will make him happy besides the destruction and that is when he meets Nikos.
Nikos is a college student just going through the days. He has no goals for the future but he knows he wants to be happy and when he meets Ares he knows that he is going to be happy. A plus for Nikos is he had heard the stories of the Gods and believes them so he knows he has to be cautious when it comes to Ares. When they get together they are fire and I mean FIRE! I just loved how this romance was built and I need more from these two.
Marble Heart is the fifth book in C.J. Vincent's New Olympians series. It is the story of Andrea's, aka Ares, finding his spark, Nikos. The Goddesses are not going to make it easy on the Gods to break the curse and live HEA. And Ares has a huge secret he's been hiding from the Gods and Goddesses.
This story is original and highly entertaining. I love the characters and how they interact with one another. I am enjoying this series and Marble Heart adds another wonderful layer to it all. Cant wait for the next book.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Another nice story in this series. This one seemed to make more of a difference in breaking the curse. Ares is very aloof to the other gods and living with his own pain for years. Niko has been trying to find a way to live his life as he wants but feels trapped with his father’s expectations.
I have the feeling this series may continue but it isn’t said specifically one way or the other at the end of this story. My biggest frustration with this story was the goddesses’ hypocrisies but most of them are now taking a stand against Hera.
I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.
I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion. I just love this series and Ares story was no different. We've seen this character come in and out through the series and he's always been grumpy and elusive and I'm glad we got to find out what makes him tick. This one was slightly different from the others as Ares is aware of the sparks and this is his second time round but with Nicko. Once again the characters were engaging and fleshed out with great world building. Original and I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait for the next

This is the fifth book in The New Olympian Series. A great book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Ares and Nikos are the MC’s of this book and mates. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
This was definitely my favorite book so far in this series. I loved that we finally saw that hatred and spree really were isolated to the two most spoiled and selfish of all of the goddesses. While I have hope, and always have had, for most of the goddesses, I don't think that anything will sway Hera and Persephone from their desire to exact retribution for the wrongs they perceive to have been done to them.
It just keeps getting better i can't wait for the next book. I loved that Hera and the other goddesses were in this one, I think Ares is my favourite mc. Highly recommend the whole of this series.
Another amazing story and it has Ares!!!! I have been waiting for his story and I wasn't disappointed!! I love Ares and Nikos are prefect for each other! I just love that learning about Ares and this is just another amazing story. I can't wait for the next one!
very good story. i love the storyline of this series. it is unique and different and very enjoyable. i loved this story in this series and cannot wait to see if there will be more. i hope so. lol
Really liked Niko and cayden but I wish it was longer so Niko & Ares’ relationship didn’t feel so rushed! But I loved the moments they shared! And omg Hephaestus! I’ve been waiting! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have really been enjoying this series, but it just keeps getting better. After wondering why Ares was such a secretive jerk in the previous books, we find out the truth and BOY does he have every reason to be. I cried right as the book started, and my heart went out to him something fierce. As we finally get to know Ares and see him with his son, I got to appreciate him and why he was the way he was. Niko was a great partner for him. This was a slow burn with the guys not really getting together until the end, but there was so much to be worked out that I thought the pacing was perfect. There were more tears as we moved through the book, and this one really stayed with me. I think this has been my favorite of the series so far. All of the others were focused on finding the spark. This one was focused on moving forward and finding happiness again. A different feel to this book, but a lovely one. I’m an Ares fan now. Can’t wait to read the next book!

I must admit that I was a little apprehensive about starting this book, but decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did!! Ares turned out to have a soft side under all that asshat attitude, and Nico was the perfect match for him. Of course, their road to a HEA ending is bumpier than a gravel country road, and, at times, I wondered if Ares and Nick would actually make it. This was a fantastic, snarky, slow burning, engaging, grab-you-by-the-feels, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, biting my nails, more twists and turns than a roller coaster story. I was hooked from beginning to end and the unexpected revelations caught me by complete surprise.
