With the help of some diverse Christmas cookies, Phil realizes outside differences don’t matter; it's the goodness in your heart that counts.
Sheri Wall is a lover of rhyme who has lived in Texas for a really long time. She would read to her sons and kids that she knew, and they all enjoyed rhyming picture books too. Then A Matter of Rhyme began as a dream to help others learn with zippy rhyme schemes. Sheri likes to stay active and be on the go, either biking, shopping, or seeing a show. This witty mom has loads of books to adore. Relax and enjoy as you begin to explore!
A Christmas Cookie Exchange is a sweet picture book with lots of rhymes and Christmas cheer!
We follow a little cookie named Phil as he sits on the dessert table. He's sad because he's not as fabulous as the rest of the cookies who have sugar and icing and sprinkles all over them. Our little cookie friend learns that everyone is special in their own way and can talk about how they feel. Looking important isn't as important as how you feel inside!
What a wonderful theme and what a wonderful little book! It's a great story for parents and educators to pick up.
A heartwarming "sweet" story about a lonely Christmas cookie who learns a valuable lesson. Rhyme and repetition increase young one's comprehension. Delightful!
This is an adorable seasonal rhyming tale of a cookie who learns a lesson about not getting wrapped up on outside looks and focus on what's on the inside. The illustrations are Christmas luminous and the story is a rhyming spectacular. People come for a party and gift exchange there's a buffet of wonderful food. Phil, the cookie, is sad all the other cookies are bright and cheery looking. He just looks plain. Who gives Phil words of encouragement? Is Phil happy in the end? I found this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
I liked it because it was a fun story but it was a little boring. It would have been less boring if that cookie didn't keep saying the same thing over and over again. I liked it because it didn't just say the same thing over and over again but it also had fun sentences. - Theo (6)
Such a cute story, kids toddler to second grade would enjoy this book. I would have given it 5 stars, but some of the rhymes were awkward, and while I respect expanding a child's vocabulary, some of the word choices were too much for a rhyming children's book.
I'm a huge fan of self-acceptance and this beautiful story written in rhyme did just that. The message beautifully shows that we should be comfortable our own skin. Recommended.
This is a fun holiday book with a good message for kids and adults. some of the words are definitely above picture book level reading, but she does include a glossary which is very helpful.
An adorably illustrated book about Christmas cookies the main character feels like he’s not as important as the other cookies but finally learns that he is special just the way he is.
I bought the book based on the reviews that the oatmeal cookie learns it's what is inside that counts but that point is not actually realized. In the end he's never chosen. Ends abruptly.
Christmas is the joy of giving expecting nothing in return. There is presents under the tree, & mistle toe. Snacks, drinks, desert, & a feast fit for the Queen is on the dining room table. Phil (plain cookie) steps aside for the fancy cookie (sprinkles/icing) & gingerbread man.
How did Phil solve his problem?
I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.
An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) rhyming zoo animal storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s movie, educational presentation (jealous, expressing your feelings, acceptance), an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Phil is a plain, ordinary cookie. When the other beautifully decorated holiday cookies sit beside him on the plate, he is sad and dejected. Why can't people see that he is sweet and tasty on the inside just like the other cookies?
This is a cute, nicely illustrated picture book that teaches young children not to judge a book by its cover. I would recommend this book, although it seems to be placed in the wrong search categories as it has nothing to do with antiques and collectibles or religious holidays.
Nearly perfect. There is no doubt in my mind that my daughter will adore this cookie 's tale. The illustrations are bright and colorful bringing the perfect punch to Phil's story. I was a bit concerned over words like extravagant, however the author redeemed herself with a glossary at the back of the book. I recommend A Christmas Cookie Exchange.
A children's book not only teaching about different kinds of cookies, but about self-esteem as well. I love the different shapes illustrated and the consistent rhyme in the story to engage the children. I wish the ending was a bit clearer, but the overall message is there. A great read aloud story with children about how they can be just as sweet with out any sparkles on the outside.
It’s a different spin using cookies to show we are all different on the inside but still special. I enjoyed the rhyming and feel the children will. The colorful picture are a plus!
Love how the author created these darling little cookies to tell the story. My granddaughters love to bake and all things sweet so I’m really looking forward to reading this to them to prepare for the holidays. Thank you for the baking inspiration!
My daughter really liked this cookie story. It was very cute and very colorful. She said it was wonderful and a very nice book. It taught that you don't have to be like others, you can just be by yourself.
A Christmas Cookie Exchange: Holiday Lessons of Self-love and Acceptance by Sheri Wall -- This is on kindle unlimited, and it is a lovely Christmas story about being your best self! Happy Holiday Reading!
This is a book of rhyme & lots of repetition. Perfect for young children. I like the message that it's not about how we look but what we're like on the inside.
