I am sure the wait won't be long.

What do you do when you have so much complexity running through your veins and the words that flow wound and heal you at the same time? How do you respond when you don’t see the world in black and white but in the varying gradients of grey? Well, the answer is simple. You write. And you write like there is no tomorrow. This is the story of a woman’s heart, pooling her emotions lyrically for the world to see. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Swati Chandak.
Divided into 4 different sections:
Inhale : Marking the beginning of a woman’s journey, when she embarks on the perilous journey of emotions. This section gives us the insight to the ‘first times’ of everything and how she battles through them. All In Between : This is the second phase of a woman’s life, when she has passed the intial stages of her emotional journey and has to go through various ups and downs but with a strength that she learns and braves. Exhale : The destination of her emotional walk marking the time when she finally learns to let go and understand that in the end, it’s of no use, running after things and emotions not worth her time and eventually finds peace within herself. Poetic Saga : The conclusion of her various troughs and what she learns and earns from it. I loved the fact that the poetess had a theme to her poems, highlighting the underlying fears and emotions from a woman’s perspective. The shuffle and shift of the feelings aptly describe the name of the book ‘Gradients’ and make you realise time and again that it follows a heart as it trudges through a lifetime of hurt, betrayal, love, realisation and peace. Every poem holds the card to the next poem with the mention of the next one’s title in the previous one, mentally preparing the reader for the next gradient of emotions. Amalgamated in the end, in the form of all the emotions (In this case the titles) this one epic poem runs through a myriad expressions of a woman’s soul in a couple of pages and some powerful words.
Poetry usually isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and the high standard of beautiful words and vocabulary used in the book may seem daunting to new poetry enthusiasts but in no way, shape or form does that distract or take away the essence of the theme. All in all, a solid 4 stars! A fantastic book and even more the poetess who in my opinion has put her heart and soul into it! Kudos!
Swatii Chandak has brought in a new dimension to the poems through this book. The book is divided into 4 parts
1. Inhale 2. All in Between 3. Exhale and 4. Poetic Saga
Each part has a collection of 13 poems each with the final one - Poetic Saga has 1 which is the collection of all in one.
The book starts with a bang with the poem Intensity. What I liked in particular about the book is the usage of illustration in appropriate places which makes it even more interesting.Accolades is one such poem where you would find the picture of a trophy with tears in its eyes. Even though the structure differs from one poem to the other,it does not fail to appeal or connect with the readers.
I should not call Swatii an author here since these are poems and would refer her as Poet henceforth(at least for the review of this book is concerned). The poet has played with words without making it complicated and at the same time maintaining the rhythm and the flow.
As I had mentioned earlier, each and every poem is unique. The word that was being used in one poem becomes the topic of the next poem and goes on til the end.
Above all, Poetic Saga is even more special. I would not reveal what makes it special since you need to buy the book, if you are the one who appreciate genuine talent or you are a poem lover.
Exclusively distinct mixture of emotions that blend to narrate an intriguing story. The buds of which form, erupt, and explore to maturity. ‘Gradients’ is a poetry collection by Swatii Chandak. Gradients is divided into four parts: inhale, exhale, all in between and poetic saga. There is newness in the presentation, unique style, aplenty of jargon wrecking the brain. But the poetic journey is belonging to absurdities of its kind. Where the flow is incredible, there is amalgamation of ideas and inexplicable.
THE BOOK AT A GLANCE- These poems delve, intensively, into almost every emotion. Swatii has intricately engaged her poems with women's perception and meticulously serves some, amongst others, best nuances of 'Love,' Intensities of an 'Identity,' the obsession towards a 'Passion,' a strong 'Companion' all ingredients in a single platter. The collection of poems exhales varied titles for a poetry lover in a manner of feast & its theme unfolds the bonding of breathing with emotions in life. An enigmatic yet energetic theme.
THE TITLE: “The ignorance of the world often makes people believe that life should be black and white – that you must choose sides – and so the world of colourful gradients goes unadmired.” In our society we have divisions. Division of hunger, division of power, division of dream and what not? There are gradients in every step of our life. The author has beautifully compared life with breathing. It is not possible to survive without breathing, and in the same way it is not possible with emotions. And the entire thing is has to establish itself, within the society WITH GRADIENTS. “Gradients” is a perfect title for this book. REVIEW OF THE BOOK: The book is essentially divided into four segments keeping the Breathing as the base. As one will proceed through the poems, one will feel as if he is travelling the mind of a woman. Indeed a woman acts as a protagonist here who portrays her inter linked emotions. The first part out of the four is ‘INHALATION’. Inhalation is the beginning of our breathing process and so as this section. The poems projected here essentially give an idea of beginning. For instance, “Solitaire! Ah! She shrieks” Describes the woman’s perspective facing the audience for the first time. “And, I love you” describes about the first trust essence which touches the heart of a girl. The second part “All in Between”, is the transition phase between inhaling and exhaling. This section deals with mature emotions, just like a kid matures into a teenager. The change in phase can be best understood by the poems “Scuffle” and “aggression”. Scuffle deals about the various changes that run about her mind and aggression acts a catalyst. It creates a path so that the thoughts can flow with anger, frustration and impatience. A very contrasting trait can be visualized in this context. “The dark she” shows us how she feels after being possessed with dishonesty, anger, and rage. On the other hand “Threads” deals with how she behaves with reality. To herself she is affected but to the world she pretends that nothing has happened. The next part is Exhalation. As in breathing after inhaling air we intake the required products and throw out the unnecessary ones, here too, we see her exhaling out the wrongs. The section deals with optimism and various techniques through which we can get over our wrong deeds. “The poem “friendship” is a beautiful exam of the above statement. The touch of some other feelings to the protagonist heals the wound to some extent, and this particular example is very much valid for new young teenagers who feel they have inhaled depression. The last part is “the poetic saga” which basically briefs down each and every emotion which are displayed throughout the poetic journey. Lastly i would like to mention about the beautiful sketches which are presented beside each poems. Cheers to the author for such creative thought processing

The poems are divided into four parts namely, Breathing, All in Between, Exhalation, Poetic Saga. These parts are further includes different types of poem which perfectly matches the headings. The best part is, the next title of the poem is related to the previous poem. There is inter relation, connectivity and a beautiful ambiance that one can feel while reading these poems. Furthermore, the headings just look as if we are living our life. We breathe, inhale, exhale and then their are some of the situations that happens in our lives. Its just sound blissful. There is a sense of passion, companionship, confession, energetic themes in it.
People tend to view the world in compartments and brackets. They tend to see the world in extremes. Like black and white. However, they fail to realize that the shifting sands of time can color the view in various hues and unfortunately these gradients go unnoticed. However, this book needn't go unnoticed.
To begin with, the cover doesn't look special but I noticed the way in which the figurative aspects were given different color tones and they weren't too obvious. I got interested in knowing what I would get on the inside. That's how I picked up the book "Gradients" by Swatii Chandak.Swatii Chandak.
Swatii beautifully takes the reader through various segments and layers and though they appear confounding and tad hard to decipher at first glance, once the general reader starts reading there's no stopping. So if you're just starting out to appreciate poetry don't judge this book for it isn't hard as it seems to look like.
I loved the way Swatii has explained the parts of the book and how each of these 3 together make up a great climb (I won't put in the spoilers by showing what the explanation is, since Swatii herself tells it so beautifully in the book). The journey seems to be like the one you undertake while climbing the mountain or the depth of the ocean....getting accustomed to each layer after another and letting yourself go free in the process. However the way the poems were layered... each piece is a story in itself prodding on the reader to go ahead and delve in the protagonist's thoughts.
Gradients is a human book of poems, each emotion building up the person that emerges in front of the reader. If you love to know more about the personality, thought process and human psyche and its reactions, this book of poems is for you.
A book that is unique in its own way...The poems in the book are connected to each other and showcase different phases of woman like different phases of process of breathing. Absolutely loved the concept and the thought process behind book.
Poems are interspersed with beautiful drawings which make the reading pleasant. The appropriate usage of vocabulary makes the poems easy to understand and relate to even if you are not a girl/woman. The flow of the poems in the book is smooth and doesnt feel at all that anything is forced. For instance, the word used in the last poem becomes the title of the next poem.
If you appreciate upcoming talent and the uniqueness that each poet (or author) brings, you need to get your hands on this particular book. You will not be disappointed even a bit.
It is am interesting chain of poems where the next one links to the previous with a keyword. The poetess has done a wonderful job to weaving a story through the poems which is thought-provoking. The sections have also been well thought of. Something new and engaging to read.

My take on the book : The piled up pieces of poetry with charming words and enchanting lines made me fall in love with the writing style ,which occupies a whole part in writing a poem .The poetic glimpse of success can be measured when the poem gets into the soul of the reader ,and gradients effortlessly did that and dived up into the successfully written poetry books. The potential poet has beautified the book with constant use of soul-touching poems.Sharing the views of the writer in the form of poem is applaudable. Will recommend this to each and every poetry lover .Would rate it 4/5 for its fabulously knitted poems .Four divisions are the four pillars to the novel .Expecting more poetry books from the writer .Duo is my favourite work ,it falls under the exhale part.Lines of the poem are given below
" An enigmatic fire within! Gyrating beneath, No one can witness. Spiraling trivially, Around the parts, Scarcely mislaying the tissues pounding, Conscious, fragments to guide my inner self. Just to keep me going. Temperament is digging the hollow deep, In between the Murmur. Oh, While murmuring the chorus... Forgetting the overlapping wave-y slopes. Who says Distances doesn’t matter? It surely does between these little things. Suspicious whirling in adoration of elongated configuration. Emergent, Flinch, Mounting while steeping, A suspend to revive; Love holds the supremacy. Yes, Including us submerging, You and me. The fire will not shun, But ignited! I have announced your existence denoting me, Kenning to move. Providing shade to restlessness. Rage, Prolonged, Murky; Boulevard! Meandering gently; The parts I thought were lost, Conniving the space, surmounting the shadow, ".
Lyrical and Flight are my favourite poems from this book. Each of the poem is so unique. I am not much into poetry but I will definitely continue after reading this book.
