From International Bestselling Author, Dani René comes a dark, captivating story of forbidden romance.
“Women are pawns in a game for pleasure. Nothing more. Until her. Madison Parker.“
I’ve done things that I’m not proud of. I’ve taken, I’ve killed, and I’ve blackmailed.
But when she stumbles into my life, there’s nothing more I want than to steal her. She’s feisty, sassy, and so wrong for me. But that’s never stopped me before.
I'm ruthless when I want something. Madison Parker will be mine. One way or another.
*Dark romance that will take you on an emotional ride of want, need, and salvation.*

I'm giving this one 3-Stars because the writing itself was excellent. The plot was also very engaging. That said, this is the last book I will read in this series. I am just not a huge fan of my hero having sex with other women while wanting (and pursuing) the heroine. On top of that, the heroes (and I use the term loosely here) of both of the two books I have read have been complete douches. I am sure many readers will love this book (and rightfully so). They're just not my cup of tea at the moment.
I did have one pretty major issue with this one, and I am going to put it in spoiler tags, so don't read if you don't want to be spoiled...M'Kay! Just MY 2 cents though...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️STARS ARC BOOK REVIEW Release Date-28/5/18
So I've got a bit of a dilemma with this one; as much as I did enjoy "Ruthless" there were also some major red flags here that brought this story down from what would have been a five star read; to a four star one. Don't mistake them this is an excellent piece of fiction, and I stress fiction as there may be some major triggers in this takes no prisoners tale; This is raw graphic and violent at times and does feature; Which I'm only disclosing in case this is a cause for concern for some; I really don't want to spoil this story for others but just thought the reader should be aware in case of actual triggers. And on a side-note here I was extremely bemused and somewhat astounded that this is then not discussed or visited upon in any shape or form further. I mean like zero mention; whats with that; I found this fact slightly shocking. But moving on from that I still rated this four stars despite reservations because of A) This was fabulously written; that is one thing this book cannot be faulted on; the writing style used here was warm and inviting and had a style that was just so easy to relate and get sucked in by. And B) despite Callan being a complete tosser at times I also really liked the way his broken psyche complemented and connected to Madi's almost completing a jigsaw of jaggedness. Their pieces just fit together so nicely; two broken halves of a whole. Alone they were surviving, but as a pair, they were not fixed but their imperfect parts acted almost like a glue. Loved the fact that both Madison and Callan were slightly defective in nature: I'm a big sucker for disjointed Love stories and this certainly did tick all my boxes in that department. My other major red flag and it is more of a personal preference than anything else: I don't like either my H or h to be either pursuing or engaging in relations or sexual antics; EVEN IF IT'S NOT ACTUAL SEX!!!; I still don't like it; with anyone else. It just spoils it for me and while this book was not as bad as the previous in series I'm not sure as much as I did enjoy this; If I want to continue; If this is going to become a pattern in the "Sins Of Seven" series then I think I'm out. This was written in dual POV my favourite and I easily read it in one sitting. It was extremely graphic in terms of language and I must admit I did adore that about it. Callan is one dirty boy or should I say man as I think he's thirty-seven here and Madison is twenty-one; so a bit of an age gap there: which is also my bag; love an age-gap. This is the second of this series I've read and I did prefer this one over "Indulge". What else? There were only a few side characters here; the majority of the action is between Callan and Madi. Oh, and on a final note we have two excellent epilogues one from Madi's POV and the other from Callan's; that was a nice touch. So that's it folks; this was a well written engaging book that I had some slight issues with at times but I still did really enjoy. I'll leave the ball in your court now. It all really depends on your own personal boundaries. Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "Ruthless" of which I have reviewed voluntary. I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Dani René!
This has got to be René's best work yet. Don't be fooled by the delicious cover; this book has depth, and deals with dark themes. She explored worlds she had yet to touch upon, pushing her limits further, while still keeping her signature story style.
Not only that, René also really pushed herself with the quality of the writing of this book. She paints vivid images with her words, and this is the clearest they've been. Dani is truly able to be consistent with the symbols, and metaphors she uses to throughout the novel without sounding repetitious. For example, the colour orange is significant in the novel, yet it's rarely stated that something is orange; it's the scent of citrus and orange blossoms, it's the fire in their eyes, it's the warmth they feel around each other, it's the memories of orange juice in the morning... It's the pluri-sensual experience of colour that really stuck out for me.
Dani René also presents to us beautifully broken characters. Scarred characters that find solace in each other. Callan and Madison sparking life into one another and lighting up the darkness in them. Seeing them evolve and heal is an incredible experience.
I was unable to put this book down. I may have snapped at my mom when she interrupted my reading... oops... sorry, not sorry... okay maybe a little, but it was justified. *shrugs*
Just like the title, this book is ruthless. It ruthlessly grabs the heart, the soul and refuses to let go. Every single moment is a journey and Dani René created yet another masterpiece.
The character development is intense. The author pours so much into each character especially with her portrayal of Madison and Callan, which is flawless. The tension and build of the relationship dynamics between those two main characters not just met my expectations but exceeded them as well. I didn't know whether to run away from Callan or kneel and worship him. Madison broke my heart and made my soul soar. Some may consider the characters broken but I always see strength with Dani René's representation and vividness she brings to each character. This high level of character development is accompanied by the author's attention to detail on world building. It truly is phenomenal.
The story itself flowed naturally. Nothing felt forced or out of place. Dani René managed to make it raw, gritty and eloquent. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and obsessed with the book. The author knows how to elicit every emotion possible to where it feels like a twisted path all the way to the conclusion.
5 Stars for a dark and emotional story that captivated me from the beginning! Highly recommend!
Ruthless is book four in the Sins of Seven series. This can be read as a standalone but don’t do it. Seriously this is a fantastic series so I highly recommend you read them all and in order.
Callan and Madison are two complex characters. They two broken characters from completely different backgrounds.
I’m in awe of this author. Yet again she has written a story that has me saying it’s my favourite of hers to date. She has a superb way with words. Once I start one of her books I can’t tell but read in one sitting.
This is an amazing read. I’m so looking forward to reading more from this author. P.s. I may be biased but I love the name Callan :)
I'm always a curious little bee when it comes to BDSM themed novels - to find out how authors perceive the lifestyle and especially their own take on what a club looks and feels like. So when they give it this dark twist, it does make me a little giddy - i won't lie, i like dark themed novels since there is no limit as to what our fantasies will allow us.
Ruthless is Carrick's brother, Callan, story. While i thought that Carrick was a sadist, i don't think he can hold a candle to Callan's sadism. That or Madison is one heck of a masochist. There were no holds barred between these two. They wanted and needed to explore every single bit of their attraction for one another and find out exactly what makes them tick.
Trust me when i say that this book won't be for everywhere. There are many triggers and if you're one bit squeamish, i'd probably stay away from this book. But if you're the adventurous type and more than willing to see just how depraved and how open minded people can be when it comes to pain, pleasure and the darkest of fantasies, then this book will absolutely hit every single of those points and then some.
Ok wow I don't know what to write here .this was an intense read I'm thinking more than Whisper. Here it shows that even if you have all you need there is something in your life that is missing that you don't even know you needed or wanted. Madison what can I say about her I definitely felt for her feeling alone feeling like you are never wanted for her to never imagine that if you want and desire something or anything that you have to finding it in yourself. like the saying says you have to love yourself before you love another.Callan what can I say of that man he surpass my expectations of what I thought I was going to get from him but he definitely is the ruthless man that you will come to love during their journey in finding their ground their home. The ending was so perfect seeing the happiness they have found. I can't wait to know who's story is next I'm going with maybe Mason or Oliver I definitely want to know those two more.
I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it.
Whoa! What did I just read?! After reading the other books in this series, I was hoping for a book about Callan. And, boy, does this author deliver! Callan is a total alpha male who does what he pleases and takes no prisoners. Women come and women go. Except one night at the Club, he sees Madison and knows he wants her in his life. But with any potential relationship, there are always barriers. Does Callan say to heck with it and go after what he wants? Madison on the other hand knows she wants Callan, but isn’t sure how to go about it. Does she ensnare her man? This entire series is by far my favorite series as it has so many elements in it; Passion, Anger, Sadness, Happiness, Love and so much more. While you don’t have to read the books in this series in any order, I highly recommend you read them all as they are truly magnificent! This one in particular is my favorite as this character just amazes me. True writing genius.
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. After I first read Indulge and learned about Callan I wanted and needed so much more. He got under my skin and something told me he was bad and dirty to the bone. And it tuned me on and intrigued me more to know all about him. Let's he's far worse than Carrick ya they are both dirty. But Callan wow he makes me knees weak and that's just the beginning of it. The title fits him perfectly he is definitely ruthless and sexy as hell oh so bad. You will want more than just a peice of him.
Club Seven Sins opens its doors once again.... the intimate world revealed within is now a familiar playground with an ever increasing group of diverse men and women who have been forced to face their failings and their fears on their personal quests to find their own brand of love in the unlikeliest of places...
The focus of this amazing series now turns on Callan and Madison... the author has created so many multifaceted characters and this pair have to be two of the most complex...there is absolutely no doubt that Callan epitomizes the title of this dark intense book.... he is a ruthless, uncompromising criminal and Madison is a smart, privileged young woman; they come from two very different backgrounds, but together they find a common ground in a world of eroticism and kink...however this is not a fairy story and when betrayal, death and destruction comes calling a happy ever after is an unlikely dénouement...
Each book in the series is accompanied by its own playlist... I love it when authors create these; I always consider myself honored that I have been offered a contextual window into the authors emotional connection to their writing. The feelings that the music evokes is a deeply personal and shared experience, and the list to Ruthless is a particularly poignant and apt accompaniment.
The writing is superb and the imagined world and the individuals mingling and merging within in are fascinating and beguiling.. totally addictive and totally worthy of 5 stars... I received an advanced copy of this book from the author
Ruthless is book four in the Sins of Seven series. This can be read as a standalone but i highly recommend all the sins so far in this series each one is oh so delicious.
Ruthless was dark as it was sexy, it stirred so many emotions and it commanded your attention right from the start. Dani really knows how to write a dark and captivating story. These men may be hard and feel they have no souls but with the right woman they become so much more. And Dani is great at bringing two broken people to make a perfect whole.
Callahan is a killer brought up in a life of danger, he's trained just to be Ruthless. So when his path crosses with the beautiful Madison his ruthlessness roars to surface. What he doesn't realise is that Madison has her own dark side and what she see's in Callahan she wants.
Their chemistry is palpable giving us an intense ride. I like to keep my reviews of Dani's reads spoiler free so.... I've said it before and i'll say it again, with each book that i read i become even more excited for the next and their characters. Dani René loves to entice us and we love to be enticed.
Ruthless by Dani René is book Four in the Sins of Seven series. This is the story of Madison and Callan. I have read the other books but feel you can make this a standalone book. Callan is a hard, rough man who was groomed at a early age to kill or be killed. Although the has a sister and a brother that he does care about that is the only attachments he allows. Women are just for physical release of his dark pleasure. Madison father is rich and high up politician but her life wasn't easy her mother never cared and died when she was younger. Her father didn't connect with her and had her on the fast track to just doing women things and marring a man she didn't want to. The only real thing she was doing was going to a motorcycle BDSM club where she meets Callan. Madison knows he is a dangerous man but that only draws her to him more. This was two hurt, broken, people who had dark desires coming together and it made them whole. Really enjoyed their story.
I LOVED this story. There is just something about the way Dani writes that draws you in and doesn't let you out until the very last word.
Callan and Madison are a forbidden couple. They should never be together in anything let alone in a sexual relationship. But both have dark needs and secrets. And maybe what they both need is each other. But the road ahead is not easy and will they be able to survive what is ahead?
This is a beautifully written story about pain, life, sex, and finally finding the love that is inside yourself and being able to show that love to someone else. Dani took some major issues in this book and brought it forward in this story. I loved how she wrote about it but didn't make it the main event.
I have been patiently waiting for Callan's story and here it is!!! Carrick was my favorite of this series, till Callan. His bad boy, dark and mysterious, take what he wants when he wants attitude is more than enough to peak my interest. Add in his protective and domineering side...... sold! Madison. I adore Madison as well. I know what it is like to have to have a face that you show everyone but underneath you want something completely different. Brought together for different reasons, these two are one hott couple that can't be stopped!!
"Callan has a way of stealing my breath, gripping my heart as if he's just pulled it from my chest." My EXACT feelings regarding Mr. Ruthless himself while reading this EPIC novel.
Two broken souls who come together as one, finding each other through a means of pain and sweet pleasure. Both the hero and heroine live in the shadows of their own darkness endeavors, but eventually through emotional turmoil find the light.
I feel like there's a storm coming and I'm not prepared. The name of the hurricane is Callan O'Leary
Ruthless I believe is the turning point in Dani Rene's work within the Sins of Seven series. We see a different side to her writing, to her creative nature and I am beyond proud of her abilities. I love the turn we take with Callan and his journey in finding happiness within in the dark recesses of his mind. The emotional volume that we gain between Madison and Callan is gut-wrenching at times and oh, so powerful. One minute you want to smack Callan with his cold-blooded exterior but other times you want to melt into his hands with his filthy words, dominant persona and unbearable means to get your wet in all ways! Don't let this sexy cover deceive your eyes, Callan O'Leary is a man that exudes dominance and unyielding attributes... you'll be begging for more!
*ARC provided by the magnificent Dani Rene in exchange for an honest review*
In true, Dani Rene fashion, Ruthless Book 4 in the Sins of Seven Series was an explosive read and not for the faint of heart! Dani doesn’t shy away from pushing element’s that are earth shattering which also make you question your own morals and desires. She pushed the main alpha Callan to the limit and I gladly ate him up, he is an acquired taste so I suggest a nibble at first (but then again is one bite ever enough?)
I also enjoy POV in books and Dani didn’t disappoint she made sure you knew what each character was feeling, thinking, needing and experiencing let’s just say she paints a vivid picture with her words. With that being said I have to warn you there is a lot of triggers in this book so please remember this. I know some storylines are hard to swallow, but I promise there is a reason authors like Dani do this, Its to get us readers to explore new surroundings open up about things we tend to shy away from, But I’m also letting you know it’s alright if it’s not your thing.
The Sins of Series is like no other there is something for everyone, I highly recommended picking up book 1 and testing the waters, but I guarantee you won’t stay dry for long hahaha.
This is a 3.5 Stars for me. This is the first book of Dani Rene that I read and it is quite an introduction. She writes really good BDSM scenes. She knows her genre (the toys, the kinks, the scenes, etc.) and it shows in her writing. Her scenes are hot. A few things prevented me from giving this book a higher rating. The first is the ever changing minds of the main characters. They gave me a whiplash because they can’t make up their minds! It drove me nuts. Also, there’s one particular scene that made me question whether the hero really wants the heroine. It keeps getting mentioned but I stopped buying it after that scene. While the sex scenes are hot, I didn’t believe the romance and that Cal only had eyes for Madison.
Callen and Madisons story was perfection with a whole lot of dark intense moments of betrayal and revenge, with everything you love in a broken controlling broken Alpha man with no feelings and has his sights on Madison who is off limits but the crazy dangerous intense attraction they have for each other will light you on fire and you are hooked. This was exciting and descriptive and I loved every intense moment that these characters put out.
This story is not something That you will read lightly, but it will grab you - your Heart, your mind, your soul - and take you for Extreme ride with Callan and Madison. This book was what I wanted but Also a lot more Then I expected. This author nailed Her work to The last piece. Scarred characters, mass of emotions, anticipation of next events. If next book will be about who I think, I NEED IT NOW! This book is for sure one of The best Works I read by Ms. Rene
This story was amazing! The two main characters are Callan and Madison. How do you fix or can you fix two broken people? They both are well developed characters who have soul searching to do, to come out the other end. How do they come out? Read to find out. Also was emotionally charged. But loved the ending! Great job on this series cannot wait for the next.
What an amazing story. I loved Callan and Madison! Madison should be off limits to Callan, and he tries to stay away, but her innocence calls to him. He is a killer she is the senator's daughter, she is 21 and he is almost 40, for so many reasons they should not be together. But the passion and chemistry they have is off the charts
Edgey, Raw, Provocative, enthralling this book was that and more I was sucked in from page one! The characters OWNED ME HEART AND SOUL! The writing was FLAWLESS, OUTSTANDING HEART-STOPPING! This book will cast and SPELL ON YOU!’ This book was MASTERFUL!!
As a fan of Fifty back in the day, this type of "dark" book really isn't my thing. I realize people have needs, however those needs don't seem to entertain me. Ruthless is the fourth book in the Sins of Seven series (and the only one I've read) and the focus is on Callan this time around.
From Callan's first chapter I knew it was going to be a fight to finish this book. He isn't a guy I like to read about. Complete control freak, d-bag with no redeeming qualities, unless you like to be ordered around. I can handle a tough on the outside, teddy bear on the inside type of man, but this one? Nope, he's a hard pass.
Callan has his sights on the young, innocent-looking and beautiful, Madison. He knows all about her, as she's been sneaking into his family's club for months. She's nothing but trouble, also nothing Callan can't handle.
So starts the love affair of sorts, meanwhile Madison's dad is in the background causing all kinds of trouble for them.
The book is well written and moves at a fast pace for the havoc that's going on behind the scenes. I did feel a little lost jumping in at book four, however if the others were along this vein, then I'm okay with being lost. Ruthless is a good read for those that appreciate the genre, unfortunately not for me.
Callan O'Leary is a hot, foul-mouthed, wicked-tongued, Irish killer with his eyes on one prize - the prize he shouldn't even have on his radar. He's killed, his family is connected, and his skills in the field are carried over into the bedroom - he has dark tastes, doesn't really respect his sexual partners, and is gone before the orgasm fades.
Madison Parker has her own connections, ties that force her to be a good girl when she has urges that aren't so pure. When trouble hits, she has to find rely on the people she trusts, and they come in short supply.
The chemistry between Callan and Madison is swift, fierce, and undeniable, which makes Ruthless an unmissable read. There is a dark tone to this book, a lot of coarse language and explicit sex, and the storyline is fast-paced and more than enjoyable.
I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Welcome to the club Seven Sins, a place where you can satisfy all your fantasies and needs.
Meet Callan O’Leary, elder brother of Carrick, one of the owners of the club, raised in the Irish mafia, a killer. “I’ve never been a good man. I’ve done bad things. I’m a dangerous man. I revel in watching life drain from those whose lives I take.”
He moved from London to Chicago 6 months ago and loves spending time in the club playing with “toys”. “I’ll fuck you, make you scream, and walk away before you’ve even come down from the high of your orgasm. I need a woman’s full and ultimate submission. Her body is mine to toy with, to abuse as I wish, but I don’t just take, I give a lot too. She’ll experience pleasure she never knew existed. All by my hand.”
Since he arrived a girl has caught his attention, Madison Parker, daughter of Senator Parker. “Rick has warned me off. Told me to leave her be. Her father is too influential in this city for me to be messing around with her. I’ve never been one to play by the rules. Hell, I doubt I have any morals left. Madison Parker. Twenty-one-year-old daughter to a senator. At thirty-seven, I am far too old for her. I should walk away, but like I said, I’m not a good man, so I don’t.”
Madison has been wanting to play a scene in one of the club´s rooms for some time and wants Callan to play with her. “I’m not proclaiming love, I’m not even giving you a fucking ring.”“What I am going to do is make you come so hard your knees will give out, your eyes will roll back, and all you remember is my name.”“There are times in my life I’ve taken anything I wanted. I didn’t care about those I hurt or even killed, and this time”“this time, is no different. You’re too perfect to fuck up, but I’ll be damned if I don’t get a taste of you. All I want to do is violate you every fucking day.”
Both play, experience and learn from each other without realizing that they are hooked each day more like a drug. And when Callan accepts a job to be Maddie’s bodyguard, he realizes that his sweet precious flower has many thorns. “Blossom, I would save you any time, any place, from any one. It’s in my nature to protect, but it’s also in my nature to kill, maim, torture.” “You’re the only woman who’s ever made me care, that’s made me need and want, and the only person in this world who's offered me all that in return without asking for more.”
Oh, to visit the Seven Sins, the premiere BDSM club in Chicago, run by a charming and devilish Irish man and his partner and best friend. I love going into Dani Rene's world, and I hope that we continue to get more even after we get through all seven deadly sins.
Like all the other books, this one is a standalone, but it's interconnected with the 3 previous books, so you can read it without reading them and not miss anything, but it's a lot more fun to read them all, because, well, it just is.
Callan is over from Ireland with his sister Cayleigh to visit their brother Carrick, who owns the Seven Sins. When Callan is there, he gets to see lovely Miss Madison Parker. The one person that his brother warns him away from. The problem is that Callan never does what his brother wants him to do.
Madison noticed Callan six months ago and has kept coming back to Seven Sins every Friday night so that she can sit and watch him. He has a dangerous aura around him, but he's all man, and everything that she wants.
The first time I ever met Callan, I was prepared to hate him. He's a bit of an ash-hole at times. OK, maybe more than just a bit. And while I can often forgive that character trait in main characters, he wasn't that in the book we first met him in. But, in Ruthless, Dani Rene managed to redeem him enough that I liked him. He's still an ash-hole a lot of the time, but seeing his inner dialogue and getting to know him more really made me warm up to him. I really liked Madison. Dani Rene has a way of writing female characters who are both very strong and very broken and vulnerable. Madison definitely fits into that. I could have read a lot more of those two and been perfectly happy.
„I’m an a-hole.“ What a first sentence for the synopsis of a book. Yup, that’s a Dani René type of story for you. It is brutal honesty and uniqueness, wrapped in a compelling seductive storyline with enough filthiness to have you blushing. And RUTHLESS takes its title seriously. It’s ruthless all right – in grabbing you and not letting go until you finished reading. It’s a dark and intense journey that you either hate or love. Me? I fall in the second category – I love that Ms. René takes me out of my comfort zone. Which each new book, there’s just this little twist, or that little turn I didn’t expect – she just keeps surprising me.
I was so excited for Callan – and he did not disappoint: He’s all alpha male and, like his creator, takes no prisoners. He is used to get what he wants – and women he wants for one reason only: Pleasure. What else are they good for? His opinion slowly starts to change when he meets Madison. Something is different about her, she ensnares him, and for some reason he wants her for more than he ever wanted a woman for before. He’s enthralling, intense – the type a man you know you should hate, run away from – not do the opposite and worship the ground he walks on, and yet he manages to elicit exactly that. My type of (anti-)hero. And Madison…? She has her own demons, causing me some serious heartache while rooting for her unbelievable strength. The character development once again is amazingly strong, as is the dynamics between the characters.
Raw and gritty – a story full of passion, sadness, darkness, danger – and, ultimately, love. I love this series and recommend all the books – they don’t even necessarily have to be read in order, although I’d suggest to do so!
Holy Amazeballs what a book! Callan is an intense man. He’s background and upbringing has made his heart stone cold with no room for sweet and tender. He’s demanding,he’s no nonsense and absolutely doesn’t play nice! I loved his filthy mouth and dark needs. Madison is the picture of the perfect sweet demure young lady. That’s the persona that people see. But Madison has an inner layer that she shows no one. I was captivated by her. She’s very complex. Omg the dynamics between Callan and Madison is freaking unbelievable! Their encounters are sizzling be it their arguments or their sex. It’s hot,it’s sexy,it’s flirtatious and most of all their encounters are intense! The are like a beckon to one another. They both gravitate to the other from the moment they see each other. It’s like their inner cravings and wants knows it can be quenched and sedated by the other. I loved how their meetings just kept building and building. And their conversations kept getting more dirtier. Until the buildup comes to a crescendo that’s so explosive and so powerful both are stunned! I loved how Ms. Rene brought these two unique characters together and how they find solace in each other. The storyline and plot fit the unquiness and background of Callen and Madison to a tee. Everything flows perfectly and blends so well. The writing is raw and gritty. It’s no holds barred matching the characteristics of Callen and Madison. I loved reading the journey and experiencing all that is Callen and Madison!
