He is popularly known as Thakazhi, after his place of birth. He focused on the oppressed classes as the subject of his works, which are known for their attention to historic detail. He has written several novels and over 600 short stories. His most famous works are Kayar (Coir, 1978) and Chemmeen (Prawns, 1956; film adaptation, 1965). He was awarded India's highest literary award, the Jnanpith in 1984.

കുട്ടനാടിന്റെയും അവിടെ പണിയെടുത്ത് 'കേരളത്തിന്റെ നെല്ലറ' എന്ന് പുകഴ്കൊണ്ട പേര് വന്നുഭവിക്കാൻ രാപകലില്ലാതെ കഷ്ട്ടപെട്ട ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിന്റെയും കഥയാണ് രണ്ടിടങ്ങഴി.
കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ പുലയനും കർഷകനും തമ്മിൽ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നിലനിന്നുവരുന്ന ഹൃദ്യമായ ബന്ധമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
പുലയൻ നല്ലവനായിരുന്നു; വിശ്വസ്തനായിരുന്നു. പ്രതിഫലേച്ഛ കൂടാതെ അവനവന്റെ കർമ്മം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു ആരുമറിയാതെ കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ പുലമാടങ്ങളിൽക്കിടന്നു മറഞ്ഞുപോയ കർമ്മയോഗി കളായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഇതിന്റെ കർമ്മഫലം കർഷകരായ തമ്പുരാക്കന്മാരിൽ നിന്ന് അവർക്കു ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

സന്തുഷ്ടരാവുമ്പോൾ.
അവരെ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്തു തമ്പുരാക്കന്മാർ സമ്പന്നരാകുന്നു.
പതിനായിരം പറ നിലം കൃഷി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഒരു ജന്മിക്കു വേലക്കാരൻ ആയിട്ട് എട്ടു വയസ്സിൽ കൂടിയതാണ് കേന്ദ്രകഥാപാത്രമായ കോരന്റെ അച്ഛൻ വെളുത്ത. അയാളുടെ മുതലാളിയായ കൃഷിക്കാരൻ കോടീശ്വരൻ ആവുകയും ക്ഷയിക്കുകയും പിന്നെയും ഉയരുകയും ചെയ്തു. എത്രയെത്ര കോടി പറ നെല്ല് അയാൾ ഈ അറുപത്തിരണ്ട് വയസ്സിനിടയിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. എത്ര നെല്ല് കൊയ്തു മെതിച്ച്. എത്ര കോടി ഉദരങ്ങൾ ഈ വൃദ്ധന്റെ പ്രയത്നഫലം കൊണ്ട് നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നിട്ടും അവസാന നാളുകൾ പോക്കുവാൻ, അരിയിട്ട് തിളപ്പിച്ച് കഞ്ഞി കുടിക്കണമെന്ന് അവസാനത്തെ ആഗ്രഹം നിറവേറ്റുവാൻ ആ വൃദ്ധൻ എത്തിച്ചേർന്നത് സ്വന്തം മകന്റെ അടുത്താണ്. ഒടുവിൽ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അവസാന അധ്യായത്തിൽ ആറടി സ്ഥലം കൂടി കിട്ടാതെ ആ വൃദ്ധന്റെ ചരിത്രം അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ നിലയിൽ നിന്ന് അവകാശങ്ങൾ നേടിയെടുക്കാനായി തുടങ്ങിയ കർഷക സമരങ്ങളുടെ ആരംഭചരിത്രവും കൂടിയാണ് തകഴി പറഞ്ഞു നിർത്തുന്നത്.
ഭാഷയുടെ ലാളിത്യവും എഴുത്തിലെ മേന്മയും എടുത്തുപറയേണ്ടതാണ്.
ഈ നോവൽ കാലത്തിനതീതമായി നിലനിൽക്കും..
കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ പുലയനും കർഷകനും തമ്മിൽ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നിലനിന്നുവരുന്ന ഹൃദ്യമായ ബന്ധമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
പുലയൻ നല്ലവനായിരുന്നു; വിശ്വസ്തനായിരുന്നു. പ്രതിഫലേച്ഛ കൂടാതെ അവനവന്റെ കർമ്മം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു ആരുമറിയാതെ കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ പുലമാടങ്ങളിൽക്കിടന്നു മറഞ്ഞുപോയ കർമ്മയോഗി കളായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഇതിന്റെ കർമ്മഫലം കർഷകരായ തമ്പുരാക്കന്മാരിൽ നിന്ന് അവർക്കു ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

പതിനായിരം പറ നിലം കൃഷി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഒരു ജന്മിക്കു വേലക്കാരൻ ആയിട്ട് എട്ടു വയസ്സിൽ കൂടിയതാണ് കേന്ദ്രകഥാപാത്രമായ കോരന്റെ അച്ഛൻ വെളുത്ത. അയാളുടെ മുതലാളിയായ കൃഷിക്കാരൻ കോടീശ്വരൻ ആവുകയും ക്ഷയിക്കുകയും പിന്നെയും ഉയരുകയും ചെയ്തു. എത്രയെത്ര കോടി പറ നെല്ല് അയാൾ ഈ അറുപത്തിരണ്ട് വയസ്സിനിടയിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. എത്ര നെല്ല് കൊയ്തു മെതിച്ച്. എത്ര കോടി ഉദരങ്ങൾ ഈ വൃദ്ധന്റെ പ്രയത്നഫലം കൊണ്ട് നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നിട്ടും അവസാന നാളുകൾ പോക്കുവാൻ, അരിയിട്ട് തിളപ്പിച്ച് കഞ്ഞി കുടിക്കണമെന്ന് അവസാനത്തെ ആഗ്രഹം നിറവേറ്റുവാൻ ആ വൃദ്ധൻ എത്തിച്ചേർന്നത് സ്വന്തം മകന്റെ അടുത്താണ്. ഒടുവിൽ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അവസാന അധ്യായത്തിൽ ആറടി സ്ഥലം കൂടി കിട്ടാതെ ആ വൃദ്ധന്റെ ചരിത്രം അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ നിലയിൽ നിന്ന് അവകാശങ്ങൾ നേടിയെടുക്കാനായി തുടങ്ങിയ കർഷക സമരങ്ങളുടെ ആരംഭചരിത്രവും കൂടിയാണ് തകഴി പറഞ്ഞു നിർത്തുന്നത്.
ഭാഷയുടെ ലാളിത്യവും എഴുത്തിലെ മേന്മയും എടുത്തുപറയേണ്ടതാണ്.
ഈ നോവൽ കാലത്തിനതീതമായി നിലനിൽക്കും..

സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും അടിത്തട്ടില് കിടക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരും അവഗനിക്കുണ്ണ് പാവപ്പെട്ട മണ്ണിന്റെ പണിക്കരുടെ കഥ. മണ്ണിന്റെ നനവ് ഇപ്പോഴും തൊട്ടറിയാന് സാധിക്കുന്ന രചന വിഭവം. മനുഷ്യ വികാരവിചാരങ്ങളില് കൂടിയുള്ള സഞ്ചാരം. സാധാരണ ജനങ്ങളുടെ വേദനകള് സമുഹതിന്റെ കണ്ണില് എത്തിക്കാനുള്ള മഹത്തായ ശ്രമം. ഇങ്ങനെ പോകുന്നു ഈ നോവല് ഇഷ്ടപെടാന് എനിക്കുണ്ടായ കാരണങ്ങള്. വളരെ ഭംഗിയായി തനി നാടന് സംഭാഷണ രീതി അവലംബിചിരിക്കുനത് വായനയുടെ തുടക്കത്തില് ഒരു ചെറിയ മെല്ലെപോക്ക് ഉണ്ടാക്കുവെങ്കിലും ആ ശൈലി ആണ് നമ്മെ തകഴി പറയുന്ന പറയന്റെയും പുലയന്റെയും ജീവിതത്തോട് അടുപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. പാവപ്പെട്ടവന്റെ കഥ പറയുന്നത്കൊണ്ട് സ്വാഭാവികമായും ഇടതുപക്ഷത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന സ്വരത്തിന്റെ മാറ്റൊലികള് ആദിയോടന്തം ഉണ്ട് ഇതില്. വളരെ നിഷ്കളങ്കവും സ്വഭാവമുള്ളതും നമ്മളെ വളരെയധികം ചിന്തിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ചില ഉജ്ജ്വല ചോദ്യങ്ങളും ഈ നോവലില് പലയിടത്തും കാണുവാന് സാധിക്കും. തികച്ചും സാമുഹിക പ്രതിപതധത ഉള്ള സാധാരണക്കാരന്റെ ശബ്ദം മുറ്റി നില്ക്കുന്ന കൃതി.
കുട്ടനാടന് കൃഷിയിടങ്ങളില് പണിയെടുക്കുന്ന പറയന്റെയും പുലയന്റെയും ജീവിതവും വ്യഥയും നിഷ്കളങ്കമായ മനസും അതുമുതലാക്കി അവരെ അടിച്ചമര്ത്തി എല്ലുമുറിയെ പനിയെടുപ്പിച്ചും കൂലി പിടിച്ചുവച്ചും പണമുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ലാഭ കൊതിയന്മാരും ക്രൂരന്മാരുമായ മേലാളന്മാരേപറ്റി പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങുന്ന തകഴി അല്ലലും അറുതിയും പട്ടിണിയും ചൂഷണവും നിറഞ്ഞ ജീവിതങ്ങളുടെ കഥ പറഞ്ഞു ദിശ ബോധം ഉള്ള ചില അടിയുറച്ച തീരുമാനങ്ങളും കടന്ന് അടിച്ചമര്ത്തലിനതിരെ ഒത്തൊരുമിച്ചു നിന്ന് നിലനില്ക്കുന്ന വ്യവസ്ഥിയെ തച്ചുടച്ച് മുന്നേറാന് ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു ത്യാഗങ്ങള് സഹിക്കുന്ന അടിച്ചമര്ത്തപെട്ടവന്റെ കൂട്ടയിമ നല്കുന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയില് അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.

പകലന്തിയോളം പാടങ്ങളില് പണിയെടുത്ത അവശരും മര്ദ്ദിതരുമായ കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ കര്ഷകത്തൊഴിലാളികളുടെ കഥയാണ് ഇവിടെ പറയുന്നത്. വര്ഗബോധത്തോടെ ഉണര്ന്നെഴുന്നേറ്റ് ചൂഷണത്തിന് എതിരെ പ്രതികരിക്കുന്നു. കോരന്റേയും ചിരുതയുടേയും ജീവിതം മുൻനിർത്തി ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ ഒരു സമുദായത്തിന്റെ മുഴുവൻ ചിത്രമാണ് വരച്ചു കാണിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രമാണികൾക്ക് എതിരെ പ്രതികരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർ നേരിട്ട വെല്ലുവിളികളും ദാരിദ്രവും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും അതേപോലെ പകർത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. തനി നാടൻ ഭാഷയിലെ സംഭാഷണങ്ങളും പുസ്തകത്തെ വളരെയധികം ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നാണ്.

Thakazhi's 'Randidangazhi' tells the story of the cruelty meted out by feudal landlords to impoverished farm labourers in the pre-independence era, in Kuttanad. Was an entirely satisfactory because it seemed to oscillate between a proper work of fiction and a documentary approach to some of the issues. Did not feel such a smooth transition between these worlds.
Struggled at times with the local language and the references to the farming world, but managed to get help from wife to proceed whenever stuck. Progressed slowly for me as a work in Malayalam, but done!
Struggled at times with the local language and the references to the farming world, but managed to get help from wife to proceed whenever stuck. Progressed slowly for me as a work in Malayalam, but done!

'Randidangazhi' by Thakazhi is a powerful work in historical fiction and political history set in pre-independence Kerala. The story reflects the life of lower-caste farmers in Kuttanadu region which one of the most important areas for producing rice then and now. Thakazhi explores the rise of a common farmer named Koran, our protagonist to a man fighting against the struggles and inequalities in the agrarian society. Eventually he became the face of opposition and the tension was spread across the nation among all lower-caste folk. Thakazhi's simple yet hooking storytelling provides the audience with an array of well crafted characters, as the story progresses some of them proved vital to the ongoing plot. The novel sheda light upon the socio-economic-political ongoings of the time and provides us with a good account of historical information. 'Randidangazhi' is must read for anyone and without doubt it's one of the greatest books Malayalam had ever produced.

There are writers and then there are out-of-this world kind of writers. I would say that this book can only be written by the second category of writers. I'd say that thakazhi is a real gem in the literary realm of Kerala, one that we all can be proud of, like o v vijayan. Only he can write such a story so short but in a way that will change you forever. He in an exemplary way demonstrates that any Philosophy is risen out of the material existence of world, and it would be an insult to claim the revolutionary struggles of the lower caste farmers from kuttanadu are inspired just by an imported marxian ideology. Much like how Marx himself was inspired by his experiences to evolve his philosophy, the proletarians of Kerala too were forced to take such a line of action from their daily struggles to survive. All this he says in a way that's really gripping and makes the readers inspire too.

கதை நிலபிரபுத்துவ சமுகத்தில் இருந்து புரண்டது என்பதை விளக்கும் மிக முக்கியமான் நூல் ஆனால் தூர்வை நாவல் இன்னும் நுட்பமாக சித்தரித்திருந்தது. கதை சீக்கீரம் கோரன் என்னும் ஆளுமை உருவாக்கத்திற்கு வந்து விடுகிறது. ஆனால் அவன் செய்யும் பிற்காலத்திய செயல்கள் எதுவும் அழுத்தமாக பதிவு செய்யவில்லை. இது வெறும் Robinhood கதை தளத்திற்க்கு கொண்டு சென்று விடுகிறதோ என்று தோன்றுகிறது.
கதையின் நாயகன் மற்ற அனைவரையும்விட மிக அறிவார்ந்த சொற்களை சொல்கிறான். ஆனால் அதற்கான பின்புலம் எதுவும் பெரிதாக சொல்லபடவில்லை. கதையே அவன் திருமணத்தில் இருந்துதான் ஆரம்பிக்கிறது.
நிலக்கிழார்களின் நிலையும் அதிகமாக விளக்கபடவில்லை வெறும் பேராசைகாரர்களாக மட்டும் அவர்களை சித்தரித்திறப்பது கொஞ்சம் ஏமாற்றமாக இருந்தது. இருந்திருக்கலாம் ஆனால் அவர்களின் தரப்பு நியாயங்கள் சொல்லப்பட்டு இருந்தாலும் அழுத்தமாக பதிவுசெய்யவில்லை என்பது என் எண்ணம்.
கதை உணர்வுரீதியாக மிக அற்புதமான கதைதான். சில இடங்கள் நம்மை மீறி ஒருவிதமான ஏக்கம் வராமல் இல்லை.

All these years, I have been discriminating against my own mother tongue, while selecting books to read. As a result, the whole ocean of Malayalam literature is uncharted waters for me. This year, I have decided to set sail into this ocean, in search of its riches and glory.
I am deeply satisfied to have selected this book by one of the towering figures of Malayalam literary history. It took me on a journey to the 1940s and 50s of south central Keralam. The story of the struggles of the oppressed working class, who literally fed the whole society by their hard work was painted with the most natural colours. The narrative also shattered many images that I had in mind, about the history of my own soil. The local dialect in the novel made me feel at home and I enjoyed it really well.
The way how a worker enjoyed and took pride in seeing the results of his hard work, and the way he thought he should know how much paddy came out of his field was very relatable.
Another thing which was truly gripping was the portrayal of hunger. I could feel the pangs of hunger of Koran and Chirutha, after the long days of hard work in the fields. The feelings of anguish and insecurity they must have felt, with the realization that the feeders of the whole country was left without anything for themselves, was presented in its raw form.
The rebel in Koran, was seen emerging in the most natural way, with the circumstances always responsible for it. There was no sense of artificiality in his transition, from a slave fearing-worshipping-revering his master, to a man asking questions.
It was a rather peculiar experience to see that casteism thrived unabated, in spite of the oppression of both upper and lower caste people who were poor. We also see how a people, who were forced to lead a sub-human existence for generations, started to think and stand on their own legs, and resist in their own ways, when the country embraced the modern ideals.
There is nothing bad to comment about the literary value of the work. It is supreme, as suggested by the response this novel received in Kerala and in the global literary scene. The novel is a meandering stream that freely flows through the political, economical and social landscape of Keralam.
I would recommend this, hands down, as a must read!

Nice emotional read . This will make your eyes wet !
The story evolves at a period of great social upheaval in Kerala society where a backward agrarian feudal society(polity) drifted to a modern liberal, socialist and democratic society(polity). Late 1940's and early 1950's were a period of radical change in which the working class got empowered and broke away from the clutches of their feudal overlords and there supporters such as monarchs, dictators and oligarchs. During this period, the walls of caste, religious divisions and other racial segregations started their withdrawal from the main stay. Changes that happened during those period ushered an era of social and economic progress and Kerala metamorphosed into a developed and enterprising society.
Thakazhi is one of the most prolific left leaning writers of 1940's and 50's. His subjects were ordinary people from lower section of the society. His writings reflected the struggle and progress of these so called underdogs. Most of his subjects are the people from his neighborhood- mainly Kuttanad, a place considered as the rice bowl of Kerala. The characters of this story are agricultural labourers from Kuttanad -who happens to be in the lower levels of the caste hierarchy. It clearly describes the injustice and oppression faced by these people from their masters over the generations. The left driven labor movements in the late 1940's enabled them to organize into unions and launch strikes there by challenging the status quo and making themselves visible to thw society and particularly to the polity of an young emerging democracy.
I will rate this book 4/5 for its simplicity . Also it reminded us of a dark past we all once had ,and our path of progress we made as a society.

പണ്ടുക്കാലങ്ങളിൽ കേരളത്തിൽ അവഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ട കർഷക സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ നേർചിത്രം തകഴി എന്ന മഹത്തായ എഴുത്തുക്കാരൻ ഈ നോവലിലൂടെ നമുക്ക് കാട്ടിത്തരാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. അന്നത്തെ ഗ്രാമത്തിന്റെ നൈർമ്മല്യവും കുട്ടനാടിന്റെ ലാളിത്യവും ഒട്ടും ചോരാത്തെ തന്നെ കർഷകരുടെ കഷ്ടപ്പാടുക്കളും മേലാളാൻമാരുടെ ക്രൂരതകളും വായനക്കാരുടെ മനസിലേക്ക് പകർത്താൻ ഈ നോവലിന് കഴിയുന്നു. ചെറുതും ലളിതവുമാണ്. എന്നാൽ വളരെ നല്ല വായനാനുഭവം ആണ് നോവൽ നൽകുന്നത്. ഓരോ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളും മനസ്സിൽ ആഴത്തിൽ പതിയുന്നു.നർമ്മങ്ങളും സംഘർഷങ്ങലും ഇതിൽ കാണാൻ കഴിയും.സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ ആഴങ്ങളിൽ എത്തിനിക്കുന്ന കോരാനും ചിരുതയും,അവരുടെ അമിത സ്നേഹത്താൽ ഉള്ള പിണക്കങ്ങളും ഇണക്കങ്ങളും എല്ലാം നമ്മളെ അവരുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.ചാത്തൻ എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം ബഹുമാന്യൻ ആകുന്നു. കോരന്റെ അച്ഛനോട് വല്ലാത്ത ദയ തോന്നുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ അവരെല്ലാം നമുക്ക് പരിചയക്കാരാകുന്നു. ഇല്ലായ്മകളിലും സ്നേഹത്താൽ സ്വർഗം തീർക്കുന്ന ഈ കർഷകർ വായനക്കാരെ കുളിരണിയിക്കുന്നു.
അതുപോലെ തന്നെ നാൽപതുകാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ സ്വർത്ഥത നിറഞ്ഞ മുതലാളിതത്തോടും വർഗവിവേചനങ്ങളോടും നമ്മളിലും പ്രതിഷേധം ഉദിക്കുന്നു . കർഷക മനസിൽ ഉടലെടുക്കുന്ന തീവ്രമായ പ്രതിഷേധവും ഐക്യബോധവും അവരുടെ ശക്തിയായി തീരുന്നത് എങ്ങനെയാണെന്ന് തകഴി കാട്ടിതരുന്നു.
തകഴിയുടെ രചനരീതിയും വളരെ ആകർഷകമാണ്. വായിച്ച് തുടങിയാൽ നിർത്താൻ പ്രയാസം ആയിരിക്കും.ആ നാടിന്റെയും കാലഘട്ടതിന്റെയും പ്രകൃതി,സംഭാഷണരീതി, ജീവിതം എല്ലാം സവിശേഷമായി അദ്ദേഹം നമ്മിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കുന്നു.

My first book of Thakazhi and I realize why he is such a towering literary figure in Malayalam. His writings are essential contributions in Kerala's social enlightenment endeavours.

In a post-independent India, with the raise of Communism in Kerala, the peasant Koran attains revolutionary zeal and joins Unions and organises protest against the landowners group. The injustice met out to Koran, his wife Chirutha and other peasants are what prompts him to be a revolutionary. He even entrusts Chirutha to his friend Chaathan, who himself was in love with Chirutha, so that family does not come in way of his dangerous vocation. It is through such sacrifice and courage, the poor got his voice heard.
The period is well etched out, with beautiful dense descriptions of the peasantry. An important historical reference to Kerala's not so distant past.

One of the very few malayalam books that I have read. The dialogues were difficult to understand in the beginning for me being someone who is not aware of the kuttanaadan slang. But the book has given me a glimpse of a different Kerala which I couldnt have imagined even in my dreams. All these events have shaped the Nation that we are in today and that makes me kind of proud of my state. The farmers were more of "ignorance is bliss" kind of people in the start of the book and slowly things take a different turn which was inevitable.

കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ പുലയ, പറയ ജാതികളിലെ കർഷക അടിമകളുട��� കഥ പറയുന്ന പുസ്തകം. ഇടത്തരം നായർ മാപ്പിള കർഷകരുടെ ജീവിതവും വരികൾക്ക് ഇടയിൽ പറയുന്നു. കുട്ടനാടൻ ജനതയെ അറിയാൻ വായിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ട പുസ്തകം. തകഴി യുടെ കഴിവാണോ അതോ പഴയ എഴുത്തുകാരുടെ രീതിയാണോ എന്നത് അറിയില്ല, പക്ഷെ ഒരു ദളിത് ജീവിതം എങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ ആണെന്ന് ഇത്ര ആഴത്തിൽ നായർ ആയ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് എങ്ങനെ സാധിച്ചു/സാധിക്കുമോ എന്നത് ഇപ്പോഴും മനസിലാകുന്നില്ല.

I got the opportunity to read this Malayam Language novel in Urdu translated by Hansraj Rahber. Story of agri workers in Kerala, who find strength and organization after they suffered at the hands of landlords who exploited their labor and when adult franchise was given. In the end they succeeded. There is also a story of love, bond and commitment.

അടിച്ചമർത്തപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ വിപ്ലവത്തിന്റെ കഥ.... ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രം പറയുന്ന കഥ..വായിക്കൂന്നവരൊക്കെ കഥയിലെ ചാത്തനേയും ചിരുതയേയും മനസ്സിൽ സുപരിചിത മുഖങ്ങൾ നല്കി പുനർജനിപ്പിക്കും...ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലൂടെ... അവരുടെ കഥയിലൂടെ ഒന്ന് ജീവിച്ച് മരിക്കും...ഇതൊരു വർഗത്തിന്റെ സ്വയം തിരിച്ചറിവിന്റെ കഥയാണ്..അവരുടെ അതിജീവനത്തിന്റെയും..

വൈകി വന്ന വസന്തം
ഈ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കാൻ വൈകിയതിൽ നല്ല വിഷമം ഉണ്ട്. കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ കർഷക തൊഴിലാളികളുടെ ജീവിതം പച്ചയായി ചിത്രീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ശരിക്കും അവരുടെ ജീവിതം അടുത്തു നിന്നും കാണുവാൻ സാധിച്ചു.
ഈ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കാൻ വൈകിയതിൽ നല്ല വിഷമം ഉണ്ട്. കുട്ടനാട്ടിലെ കർഷക തൊഴിലാളികളുടെ ജീവിതം പച്ചയായി ചിത്രീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ശരിക്കും അവരുടെ ജീവിതം അടുത്തു നിന്നും കാണുവാൻ സാധിച്ചു.

It's a beautifully written book and portrays the life of Kuttanad very well. I was madly in love with the characters at the beginning but later somehow I lost fondness for the main characters and fell for a minor one. The ending seemed like it was done in a hurry, it felt more like a short story rather than a novel(its a small novel but I needed some more time and details to adjust with that ending ) and a bit unrealistic .I know its fiction but when the whole story was realistic till the end , I had my hopes up pretty high and unfortunately it didnt raise to that level. It was an easy read and if you want to finish a good book and you have limited time I highly recommend it.
