At one thousand years old, Simon Sorellion is feeling strange. The house demon has been content to coexist quietly with humans. Now, he's met one that he'd like to taste.
Tom is a sullen, college-age witch who's studying magic in his Aunt Lucinda's creepy house all summer. He'd rather escape back to the city, by any means necessary. Maybe that means cutting a deal with the demon who wants to get friendly. Intimate, even.
Tom really should know better.
Simon has never been with a human before — hell, he doesn't even have a physical body — but none of that will stop him from getting what he wants.
What readers are saying: "I adore the filth you wrote!" - Austin Chant (Peter Darling, Caroline's Heart)
Daria Defore has been writing ever since she was a kid, and vividly remembers that her first story was about getting a pet dinosaur from Santa Claus. Now she writes filthy romance instead.
Daria's books are about losers doing the best they can. Her style is conversational and funny, and her writing inspirations range from Agatha Christie to Ernest Hemingway. She brings a love of place to her stories, and always strives to evoke a strong setting.
She has a fondness for history and mystery, and you'll find elements of both in her work. Her work is often set in her home of the Pacific Northwest, as well as her adopted home of New York City.
By day, she's a video producer and hosts two podcasts on tech and video games. She loves reading, cups of coffee in multiples of ten, and being bullied to write more.
Some A+ monsterfucking. I wouldn't normally rate erotica this high but this book knows what it wants to do and does it well. Bonus points for multiple tongues.
I edited this across its lifespan, so no official rating from me, but Daria understands me and my deep desire for monster effery. If you're also into that sort of thing, this is gonna be your jam, and it's cute and funny in addition to being weird and sexy.
This one's for my monsterfuckers, you know who you are. Sullen college kid/witch Tom is stuck at his aunt's for the summer, where he meets 1000 year old incorporeal house-demon Simon who shouldn't be attracted to humans at all but suddenly really, really is.
And then there's sex. A LOT of sex. Very hot sex. And magic. Because Tom has some very firm ideas about exactly what kind of monsterfucking he would like and goddamn is Simon going to deliver.
Holy heck, Daria knows how to put a story together and make it sizzle. Also, side note: I love the fact that this short story is part of the Sparkwood universe. (There is an excerpt at the end of this story for anyone interested in testing out the longer novel.)
I don't read a lot of erotica, but I couldn't resist the siren call of a house demon experimenting with new and exciting sexual feelings for the first time in... was it a thousand years?
This could have easily been a novella. I would have happily read more about Aunt Lucinda and the whole summer in which Tom actually finally did find some fulfilment in learning about the witch stuff in his family, as his aunt and mother both want for him. And, yes, the sexy demon sex.
Daria has a way with descriptions that makes me think that every scene with Tom and Simon (yes, it's a demon called Simon), would have been amazing and unique even if it covered over a three month summer period.
Short and filthy erotica featuring a young male witch in training and a thousand year old incorporeal house demon. Tom has been reluctantly sent to his aunt's rural house to begin his serious witch training. He's rather apathetic, and when his aunt's new house demon says he knows a spell to shortcut Tom's summer away from Seattle, Tom is intrigued. But Simon, the demon, is also curious because watching Tom touch himself has raised some interesting questions. Quite funny, too. Loved the scenes where they had intercourse through the mirror. Uninhibited monster free for all that fulfils all of Tom's dreams & more!
The only thing I'm disappointed in is that I didn't read this on Halloween. Simon and Tom are so cute, and I really enjoyed their exchanges. I especially liked Simon's bluntness, and the effect it had on Tom. They were also open with each other about their needs, and I thought that was lovely. This is a steamy, but quick read. Aaa, I wish it had gone on longer! The smut was fantastic and whewww, a fantastic use of an omnipresence. The mechanics of demons and magic in this story were??? wonderful??? A Spell For Luck was just a lotta fun!
🤗Entertaining, whimsical. Encore, please! I'm definitely wishing for more of that droll occultism. If only there could be continuing adventures of slacker witch-in-training Tom and sexually curious though incorporeal house demon Simon (and pretty please also 💫dear Aunt Lucinda!✨) ....bewitching it up in Seattle's UW and Capitol Hill.
PS: There may be hope for a sequel, because author Daria Defore has tweeted me: "I'd love to write more with these characters."
This was a perfect short and sexy story about a witch, Tom, and his aunt’s house demon, Simon who has recently become aware of his budding sexual desires.
A great read for spooky season - or any season!
Bang In the Night Bingo A Deal with the Devil (technically a demon)
I one-clicked this eBook the day I learned of its release, but then life sent a piledriver my way and I had to put it on the backburner. During a lull in a very boring in-service day I decided to get starts on a couple of pages. I devoured it like that. The writing is atmospheric, the characters are complex, and the writing manages to be both steamy and hilarious.
Was it a mistake to read this in public? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not.
