Such a great book for teaching kids about autism (either for themselves, or for someone they know). The language is a little higher, so maybe use for students 3rd grade and up.

I loved how his mother made this book to help him better understand who he is and why things are they way they are for him. She made sure he knew he was special in the most amazing way and to never let other people tell him different. He was diagnosed with Aspergers as a child so his "superhero" power as his mom called it, should never define him, but just make him a stronger person. She goes on to help him, help others know their "superhero" powers at well. It is a sweet and touching book, and I love it even more because it is based on the life of the author and her son, so its more real.

One of the best, yet simplest, conversations about a topic that touches the lives of so many children, their families, their friends, their teachers. The "Helpful Hints for Friends" sprinkled throughout the book are insightful and practical!

Stay tuned! This is the beginning of a series.

I read this book with my son. After his jaw dropped, he said, "Wow, that's dead on!". He was so happy to see he's not alone and that there's a book out there that's not stereotypical. Thanks, Lori Yarborough!

Wonderfully informative!

Every teacher, parent, friend or family member of someone on the autism spectrum should read this book. It is an excellent explanation of how and why someone on the spectrum might react to different situations. My favorite parts of the book are the helpful hints on how to relate to, calm down or meet the need of someone on the spectrum. This well written and wonderfully illustrated book is an encouraging and helpful tool that I will definitely recommend to others.

Must read!

This book provides excellent insight into understanding a child with autism spectrum disorder. Loved the positive use of “superpowers” with clear explanations for children to understand. Beautifully illustrated with awesome helpful hints that others may use in their own interactions with children on the autism spectrum. Additionally, the author has both personal insights and therapeutic experiences which give extensive credence to this topic!

A wonderful resource to better understand autism!

I have worked with many children who have autism and their families and it’s great to find a book like this! Nathan’s Autism Superpowers does a wonderful job at helping both children and adults understand autism. This author does a wonderful job at bringing awareness to both the incredible abilities and challenges of having autism. Thank you for a fantastic tool!

It’s really nice to have insight and general information on kids with autism, especially if your job revolves around kids. This book did a wonderful job explaining something very intimidating and scary into something special and unique. The illustrations were on point in giving the readers a sense of comfort and ease. It also was a big part of presenting how the autism spectrum was part of Nathan and will always be his exceptional superpower.

Great insights for neurologically diverse children

An incredible look into the minds of neurologically diverse children! The book redefines Nathan’s differences in a child-empowering way—as superpowers. There are also tips for friends and family members to help a child when their superpowers overreact. A great read!

This is a short book from the mother of a child on the autism spectrum. She does a great job of explaining things that happen to her child and why. I'd recommend this book for anybody that has contact with somebody on the autism spectrum and to be honest, as short as this book is, I'd recommend it to everybody.

What a wonderful book

I just adored this book. It was a really great insight to me, as someone who doesn’t know many kids on the spectrum, it gave me a really good idea of what it’s like for children with autism. Thank you so much for this book, it really touched me

Not only assures children that their differences can be helpful, but it also instructs others on how to best accommodate those differences. There's so much helpful information in this book that you could pick any page and make it a poster for parents, teachers, and therapists.

Very Nicely written

Here the child is taking about his abilities, rather than someone else trying to explain

I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it wasn’t so didactic. Tell the reader about Nathan in an engaging storyline.

Loved it!

I just read this book with my son who had ASD. It was so fun to read through all the “super powers” and pick out which ones he shared with Nathan and which ones he didn’t. Beautifully simple explanation of some of the things that make kids on the spectrum unique.
