Cassie Howell was so many high school student, compulsive liar, daughter, vampire slayer- *record scratch* Okay, well, hopefully she was done with the vampire slaying AND compulsive lying, having confronted the vampire lord of Tampa once and for all. Unfortunately for Cassie, the paranormal world seemed to have a way of crossing her path whether she wanted it to or not. When a strange man forces her way into Cassie's school to confront one of her classmates, it suddenly seems like Cassie's days of dealing with the weird are not as over as she might have hoped...and that she might be finding her way into an entirely new branch of weirdness... Werewolves.
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
You know in the Harry Potter books, where Harry saves the day all the time, but only because he's got Ron and Hermione and the others helping him? That's Cassie.
This is a fast paced tale which hits the drama right from the outset.
But what I'm really enjoying from this series are the interpersonal relationships. The hints of romance. The tension with the parents. All the things that ground this story into the realms of the realistic, despite the paranormal events.
Truly enjoyable.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
While I still don’t understand how this pair of authors can produce these short novels at a ridiculous pace, I do have to admit that they have managed to keep me interested and entertained in the stories. This one Heir of The Dog is a go example of character and plot building. While the protagonist’s beau has become scarce in the last few novels, he does make a better appearance here, making me wonder how long he’s going to be around. Good writing good characters.
Another series that continues to get better with each book. From being forced into the supernatural world the hard way with nobody to turn to, she has evolved into a saviour who also has the much needed support of her parents & new friends. It's good to see how much Cassie's attitude & strength of character has changed because of this. I'm sure she will continue to have tough times ahead but I'm looking forward to how it develops.
Can not recommend the works of Robert J Crane enough. The amount of work he has written and the quality has not suffered. So having battled vampire stalkers, vampire god fathers , traveled to the land of Fae, Cassie comes up close n personal with werewolves. The story stacks up with the same tone as the previous, the qualities of the other books shine thru in this one. I ha e no doubt this instalment will not disappoint.
I have to admit that I was hesitant about starting this series. But, now I'm waiting impatiently for the next book bc I'm so enthralled with it. I catch myself rooting for Cassie and Mill. The heir of the dog book kept me up waiting to see what happened with her mother and father.

So this book was interesting with the mention of twilight amongst other books. Love the story of Cassie and Mill. Loving Lockwood's character. Will it be Jed or Mill?
Once you have been made aware that supernatural creatures are real, it kind of makes it hard to see things as normal ever again. When Derrick's father, causes the school to go into lockdown, An observant Cassie knows this is not your typical human scenario school lockdown situation.
Cassie soon discovers her classmate Derrick has a secret even he is unaware of. How does she help him, without looking absolutely crazy and unhinged. Can she help him? Its not like there is a supernatural handbook to follow, just break in case of vampires, werewolves and other unbelieveable creatures.
Cassie has quickly changed her life dramatically since being thrown into the supernatural realm. She is no longer the selfish uncaring liar she was when this series started. Cassie has since come to terms with what her lying has done to her life and the lives of her family and friends and has turned her life around, and as it seems to a new calling
