With Harry Potter's hearing for Underage Use of Magic looming, and Sirius Black hunted for a crime he didn't commit and was never tried for, Harry reaches out to Her Majesty the Queen for help, with unexpected results. No ships. AU starting Ch 6-9 OotP, No HBP, No DH, No Horcruxes.
Oops, time to hang my head and admit I more or less forgot I hadn't finished and reviewed this story! What I had left when I left off/ when I realized was just denouement and epilogues (8 epilogues!), so I'm having trouble deciding, with this gap away from the big events, whether I should round 3.x stars up or down. My overall lingering impression is that, while I generally like the character-depictions (not really bash-y, btw, but not free passes for, e.g., Dumbles and Molly), the concept and the hopeful changes it leads to making in wizarding Britain, with some interesting uncommon ideas (the Queen, once involved and informed, is not just affecting *Harry's* situation!), the writing itself is merely fine, not wow, so... probably objectively about a 3.33 on my stingy scale, but I feel guilty for neglecting it, and I've definitely rounded up things that were written no better, technically. *shrugs*
I rather enjoyed this, although interestingly there was very little magic used and absolutely no mention of how the two could coexist. I also think it unusual that there wasn't even a single mention of St Mungo's in such a lengthy story, don't think I've seen that often. An interesting take on the ending nonetheless, and a very clever adaptation of the prophecy just by changing one word too.
