“She was Addison Abbot—book nerd, helpless romantic, cake maker.”

Same amazing characters, brand new amazing adventure!! I’m having such a great time with the “To Catch a Thief” series. It’s like “White Collar” meets an adorable Rom-Com!

We get to meet and get to know better some of the characters that were in the last instalment in the series. Meet Addison Abbot…. ok, so we’ve already SORT OF met her. But, it was so fun to get to know this optimistic, bubbly character! At the beginning I honestly though she was going to annoy the crap out of me with her vintage looks and disgustingly over the top positive outlook on life (….I know. I’m a horrible human being for feeling this way.) But, she was such a refreshing switch from the strong, independent women in all the novels I’ve been reading lately! (not to say that Addy can’t hold her own when push comes to shove!)

Then there is Thaddeus Ryder…. sigh. I love him. What can I say?? Is he the typical bad guy with the heart of gold? ….Maybe. Do I care? …..Not particularly. He was kind, he was funny, he was a scoundrel, rake and knave all rolled into one! Ha ha! I loved his passion for art. I could really feel that his soul was in these paintings!

“I don’t know if this is what Degas was after, but I think of it sometimes when I look at his work. That for these girls in the painting, and for the painter behind the scenes, the art itself was their only companion. Not the people around them, but their passion, the one constant, always there, always churning, making sure they weren’t so alone.”
This book really reminded me of “It Happened One Night” without the mistaken identity…. Thad is most definitely guilty!! But, the kidnapping, the nights on the run, posing as a couple… and throw in some laughs and some steamy tension… THIS ONE IS A WINNER!! I honestly can’t wait for more!!

A favorite trope of mine that I love to read is spies/thieves type stories. Kay Marie's How to Catch a Thief has everything that a reader wants from the spy/thief action as the main character tries to dodge bullets flying from the Russians as well as stay one step ahead of the FBI to a Romantic Comedy angle as he accidentally kidnaps one of Jo's online best friends Addison. Thad is on the run with a Degas painting, and he needs to get a message to Jo without being traced. This brings him to one of her online baking friends Addison. Thad's plan though gets interrupted as he is not the only one who has been following Addison as the Russians turn up and bullets start flying. With Thad still needing to get the message to Jo and Addison not safe, he ends up kidnapping her. He finally gets a message to Jo - that they have a code brown situation. Funnily enough the "Code Brown" inspires Jo to rename her coopie Code Brown and add a lil poop emoji. When the message gets across, Addison and Thad will travel across the map to Arizona where Thad needs to see an old friend Emma and where Jo and her annoying FBI boyfriend Nate Parker will meet them, and he will happily turn himself over or will he as Thad has other plans up his sleeve and none of them involve him landing behind bars for the rest of his life. With Addison now in his life though, will Thad's plan change or go ahead as he had originally planned? Find out in another fun cozy, romantic suspense by Kay Marie "Stolen Goods."

Addison is very safe and I hate to say kind of boring. I mean doing the same thing day in and day out seems like a death sentence for some people. She’s content with her life at the bakery and her hair that has never changed and her overly pink wardrobe or so she thought. One night is all it takes to flip her life upside down and now she’s on the run with the notorious Thaddeus Ryder. She should be scared she just witnessed a crime and has been essentially kidnapped but she sees it as him keeping her safe. Feelings come into play and decisions must be made.


Thaddeus Ryder is a thief and an artist. His best friend is Jo and well we know how that went down. He is in deep with the mob and wants to make this his last heist. Sadly, they want it to be his last everything. When he finds Jo’s friend Addison he doesn’t think by using her to get in touch with Jo would throw her into the middle off his drama. Now on the run he lets himself start to envision his life with her and not on the run. When they get to a safe place Thad has a choice to make but will it be the right one?


I loved Thad. He had a heart he wanted to be better but felt this was his life he didn’t deserve to be loved or heck even liked. Addison was insanely safe to me well she started out that way. I almost couldn’t connect with her, but I did get her reservations though. This was a good story with a heart and I felt that Thad and Addison did grow and mature as the book went on. You even get to see Jo and Agent Parker in this story as well. I can’t wait for the next story in this series!

What is it about art heists that hooks me? I am always there for a good art or jewellery heist so of course I needed to read this one- the hero has just stolen a Degas painting and is on the run for his life.

Our hero is an art thief extraordinaire and his last heist went south quickly. Now he is America’s most wanted as well as the Russian Mafia’s most wanted- not a good combo! He wants to make contact with his partner and uses one of her online friends to do it. The problem? The mafia find her too so in order to keep her safe he takes her along for the ride across country to get to safety.

This is book 2 in a 3 book series and it felt that way- it felt like the joiner between the first and third. I felt like I needed less running and more art heists (I am who I am what can I say?). Overall I really enjoyed it and I loved that we saw a really girly girl heroine (pink everything and all) and how she came into her own.

I honestly expected more from this book since it literally started off with a bang. But it kinda got lost on the romantic roadtrip. Why would a wanted criminal stop at a national park full of people? Obviously because a pretty girl asked him to. Thad is a master escape artist but he couldn’t escape from Addy’s naïveté.

I loved reading this book. I may have enjoyed it even more than book one (Hot Pursuit). I’m still not convinced the plot is entirely realistic from the non-romantic point of view but in this case, I was able to overlook it because I had a lot of fun with Thad and Addy. I may have a soft spot for Thad, he’s probably the nicest art thief I’ve read about in a long time, if not ever.

If you’re looking for a fun book with action, romance and just a hint of suspense, then Stolen Goods may be perfect for you, as long as you don’t over think the story and avoid looking for holes in the plot.

Although this is book 2 in the To Catch a Thief series, it can be read as a stand alone (though I guarantee that at some point you'll be curious about what happened in book 1)..

This book was even more delightful than the prior one in the series! Once again it mixes just the right amount of danger and suspense with humor and romance to create the perfect blend for a reading delight!

The male lead in this episode is Thad, the childhood like-a-brother friend and more recently crime cohort of Jo from the first book. He's currently on the run from the FBI, as well as Russian mobsters. So things do tend to be a little exciting when he's around, what with bullets flying and whatnot. Of course, he's pretty interesting in his own right, at least as far as Addy is concerned.

Addy is the female lead in this little adventure. She is gullible, naive, overly dramatic, and just as sweet as the masterpiece cakes she loves to create. She's also rather easily upset, a horrible liar and actor, and fairly inept at all things stealthy and criminal.

The two are accidentally thrown together when Thad attempts to use Addy as an intermediary to contact Jo without the Feds finding out. Of course, the Russians are way ahead of him and attempt to kill or capture them both, giving Thad no alternative but to run... and take Addy with him.

As time passes, the two get to know one another, and start to grow close. A cross-country trek, while on the run from both cops and robbers, with some strategic tourist stops along the way, only highlights the physical attraction that they have for one another, as well as the emotional bonds that they are forging.

Thad is still determined, however, to flee across the southern border into Mexico, hoping to avoid a life-long prison sentence from the FBI or a death sentence from the mobsters. And things certainly get real fast when the players all finally come together at once.

I am totally enjoying this trilogy and can't wait to read the final installment! I hope we have more future glimpses of all these characters within those pages.

Stolen Goods is the second book in what I believe is a trilogy that follows the characters from book one on. In the first book, we meet Jo and the no-nonsense FBI agent, Nate. We also meet the other characters but as supporting roles. In this book, the couple that is focused is Jo's bestie and "brother", Addy and Thad.

I actually fell for Thad in book one and was excited to see that he was going to be in his own book in this one. He's what I like to call a loveable asshole. You know the kind. They are the jokesters. The ones who hide behind a smile and can be dicks to the sticks in the mud. That's Thad.

Addy, I wasn't expecting to love as much as I did. She is an all-encompassing feminine fairy. Filled with pink and confectionary goodness. You'd think she'd be an innocent little wallflower and in a way she is. BUT, there is a strength to her that I really liked.

The best way to describe this book is a road trip book. Through a huge mishap that involves the Russian mafia, Thad finds himself in a pickle. He thinks he can just waltz in and contact Jo. At least... that was the plan.

Though most of the book is centered on these two strangers getting to know each other better, it works. You see a development of the relationship and how well they play off one another. You can see how one is able to lift up the other.

The book is a good middle book. It fits the world and you do get to see Jo and Nate in their own environment. I would love to read the third book. I have to now. I'm invested to see what happens with Nate's partner, Leo, and Jo's other online bestie, Mackenzie.

I recommend if you are looking for a light and fun romance. There is some action, both in physical coupling and fighting off baddies.

Heavy on the emotional, lighter on the chaos, but a solid book 2 for the series

This book has it's own version of chaos but isn't quite so crazy as Jo brought to the table. Still, it works very very well.

Addi is a good softer version of FMC. Quieter, lighter, more scared than scary, but she has a strong moral compass. Seeing the right path despite the complexity of the situation. She's sweet and loveable and has bestie vibes for days. Thad is the ultimate teddy bear growling - so big, so scary, how awful but give me snuggles you big softie. His background is so well worked for the story that you cannot help but fall for the guy. Add in his teasing side and protective core, and he's a great MMC for the gentle FMC.

The storyline is so well thought out, the pacing is decent and the editing quality is great. There's very little to dislike about this installment. I hoped for a bit more humor than the emotional swoops we got. I feel like there's a few questions left on the table when it comes to his mother's departure. I feel like his slipping away from Nate was a bit beyond the realm of suspended disbelief (what about all the other agents afoot?). Beyond those relatively mild details, I fully enjoyed the rest.

IT pull you in right from the start, (I made the mistake of starting the book late at night and read till morning:) ), I loved it even more than the first one.

After the events of the Hot Pursuit. Thad is on the run for his life, with an extremely valuable painting. But before he disappears, he has to say goodbye to Jo. He tracks down one of her online baking friends to send her a message, but it doesn't go as planned and he ends up on a run with Addison. It's such an amazing story of full of love, mystery, road trip and lots of humor.

The bond between Thad and Addison is just the sweetest, they are very different, but they bring out the best in each other. When Thad is around her, he is not just a thief and a con man, he is the artist and actually very sweet. On the other hand, he brings her out of her comfort zone.

My favorite relationship, though, is between Nate and Thad. Every scene they are in together is hilarious, from white butt check to Judo Chop. 😁

Thaddeus is a thief. He and Jo were “partners in life.” But the Russians have held her over his head for a while now, using him to do their bidding. When things get dicey and he gets the feeling this job will not only be his last, but it will be his last breath as well. When they attack he makes his move.

He knows that Jo is ok, but he needs to talk to her. After giving the Russians the slip, he needs to get his affairs in order and disappear. That is what finds him outside of his only connection to Jo, Addison’s place of employment. He has been watching Addy for days now. Waiting for the right moment.

Addison is a happy go lucky girl. Her life is full of cakes and pink sunshine. She loves baking cakes, especially wedding cakes. She loves seeing the happy couples faces when they see her creations on their special day. But Addy longs for love herself. She is missing that feeling that she belongs to someone. Deep down she feels as if she were made for more. She wants to see the world as well, but she is scared. Never venturing far out of her bubble.

One faithful night both of their worlds come crashing together. Thad tries to reach out to Addy to get to Jo and the Russians attack. With no other choice Thad is forced to kidnap Addy. Will Jo ever forgive him? Will he be able to keep Addy quiet and safe?

These two will embark on a daring adventure. But will they both make it out alive?

Stolen Goods is the second book in the To Catch A Thief series. It was the adventure of a lifetime for two unlikely people. Thad is a thief, but he is a thief with a heart of gold who yearns for more. Art, life, love and freedom.

Addy is a sweet innocent baker. She loves getting lost in her cakes. It is a form of art. A way to escape and get lost in a fantasy she will never live.

When these two characters come together it is the sweetest adventure. They may be opposites in every way, but they belong together. Yin to Yang. They compliment each other and have amazing chemistry. Both full of life and fun.

Overall this book is enjoyable and full of witty fun. I think the first book was the best. I felt it had a tad bit more action, making the book move at a quick exciting pace. This book could have used a bit more action throughout. But what this book did not have in action, it more than made up for it with emotions. This book was a more emotional read than the first. We learn a lot about Jo and Thad, the life that lead to this point in their lives. Thad is an emotionally damaged from past hurts and we see him really open up to Addy.

This is a great series, full of fun, witty banter, smart and challenging women and love. Not only that but each book is filled with danger, and a hot man coming to the rescue. What more could a girl ask for?!

I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next book Off The Grid coming out in April/May 2019. I bet it will be a good one. Hint….it’s about Mckenzie & Leo. Oh la la!!! So if you haven’t read these yet, then get to it. You won’t regret it. These books are sure to make you fall in love and have a blast doing it.

After the end of Hot Pursuit I was curious what was next for Thad and how Addison would be brought into the action. It was done in a way that makes sense for the story and didn't feel forced.

Thad, despite his hard edges and criminal activity, is a good guy at heart. Addison is a sweet girl who has never really stepped outside her regular day to day activities to see the world. When the two of them end up on the run together there's romance, adventure, and a chance for the two of them to find something meaningful together. However, it won't be easy since they are trying to escape the Russian Mob.

Kay Marie has put together an engaging story with just enough action to keep the plot moving without taking away from getting to know Thad and Addison. There are also some appearances by characters from Hot Pursuit!

Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thad is a well-developed character. We learn about his history, his thought processes, and we see them change as he develops a better understanding of what has happened to him and what he wants. Addy isn't as well developed. She's a girly girl from the south, and we don't really learn much about her, why she has chosen safety over adventure, unlike her sister. Don't get me wrong, she's a nice girl, but not well developed. We also don't get to see much of her growth, because it takes place after the story is done and before the epilogue.

The plot moves at a good pace. It's fun to read, and it ties Jo and Nate into the story wonderfully.

Stand alone HEA, but so so much better having read the first book.

Contains no sex scenes (undressing scene with kissing, but sex scene is omitted), swear words, and violence (shooting, hitting, attempted kidnapping).

Cute. Though I did like the first one better.

This book follows Thad, the other half of the painting robbers from book 1. Friends since childhood while their fathers stole, smuggled and frauded, Jolene Carter is of course now loved up and living with her FBI hottie (book 1) having signed a plea/immunity deal whilst Thaddeus Ryder is in the wind. Running from the cops, the media and of course the Russians who want him dead.

Our heroine is a pink-obsessed wedding cake designer/baker, Addison Abbot. An online friend of Jo's, Thad sees an opportunity to use the pretty dark haired romantic to contact Jo under the radar. His plans are scrapped when the Russians arrive and suddenly Addy is riding shotgun against her will.

In comparison to book 1, I didn't love these two as much. But the story was good, the hero was sweet and I'm definitely here for book 3.

A wonderful sequel/spin-off

I usually feel disappointed when the characters I grew to love in book one are hardly mentioned in the sequel, but this book was different, and refreshing, and very enjoyable! The plot and characters from Hot Pursuit lead right into Stolen Goods in the most satisfying of ways.

Just like with the first book, I *loved* the action+romance genre! The characters felt real and enjoyable, the settings were vivid, and the plot, while clearly fictional, was realistic. And a handful of White Collar/Matt Bomer vibes never go amiss! 😁

It was a very quick romantic relationship, but I appricated how it all worked out in the end. Also, as a fan of fade to black and closed door romance, it was really nice to read this book without having to worry about skipping anything.

The only problem is that the book felt too short and now it's done 😄

This is the story of Addison Abbot whose only thoughts were of owning her own cake shop until she is saved by Thaddeus Ryder from two gunmen.
Thaddeus is just your everyday international art thief until the lates heist doesn’t go to plan and he is left going on the run, his partner has betrayed him to the feds and there is nowhere he can turn without seeing his face plastered over every news headline and his getaway is stalled by hitmen and Addison.
This was a great romantic comedy with some fun and a bit of banter, where we see Thad opening up to Addy, the chemistry between them was amazing.
Look forward to the next instalment in the To Catch a Thief Series by Kay Marie.

Two lost souls finding each other during a kidnapping (that’s not really a kidnapping) but on the run from a Russian mafia.

This series up to now is just a delightful, romantic read and has you liking the couples very quickly.

Thaddeus is a tortured soul who doesn’t believe he’s good enough for anyone but Addison and her sunshine ways pull him in. Addy is also is a phase of her life where she feels stuck so this “adventure” with Thaddeus could be just what she needs.

Their story was a cute one and it’s such a fun read. Can’t wait to see what happens in the last book.

Similarly to the first book of this series, I couldn't finish this book. Once again, it had the outline for the types of romance stories I love, but the writing fell short in the end and couldn't capture my attention beyond the first half. Similarly to the first of the series I think I would have loved this book if there was just a bit more humor and banter between the H and h - a little more spark. In the end I skimmed this one also and didn't really finish it.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this, even more so than the first book in the series.

It had just the right balance of lightness and heaviness.

The banter between the characters was so cute that in could have done with reading a few more chapters about what happens afterwards.

That would be my only criticism, the ending doesn’t quite leave you satisfied and that is disappointing given the next book will be about a different couple.

3.5, rounded up. I liked the Jo/Nate story better, but this was cute. I already wasn't a huge fan of Thad from the first book but since these were clearly inter-connected stand alones, I figured I had to. Even a whole book later and I have no opinion on Addy. She's super safe and bland, but I am reading this with the lowered bar of RomCom tropes.
Again, super cute, I had fun not trying to figure out fantasy politics and maps, so it's a win. Looking forward to Leo's story

Enjoyable Read

While this book didn't have as much fun banter as the first, I enjoyed the deeper emotional journey this one explored. While there was flirty and funny banter between the characters, this one got a little deeper dealing with Thad's feelings of abandonment and feeling like he was unworthy of relationships because he felt he only messed them up. Looking forward to reading the final book in the series!

This is the second book in the To Catch a Thief series and having read both, I'd have to say that this is my favourite so far. This time we have Addison, who is one of the three online friends who all share an interest in baking. We met Jo in the first book, she has kept her true identity and the role that she's played in her father's criminal activities. Now, Addison finds out all about what Jo has been up to and finds herself plunged right into the thick of things.

Thaddeus has been Jo's partner in all of these criminal activities, although he knew more of what was involved with it all. Now he's on the run and needing to get in touch with Jo, he breaks into Addison's bakery and tries to use her to reach Jo. Things don't quite go to plan and before she knows what happens, she's on the run with America's most wanted criminal.

Thaddeus and Addison work well together and although Addison is quite a fluffy and soft type, she has a bit of a backbone to her, which is always good to see. The story reminded me a little bit of French Kiss, the film with Meg Ryan in from the 90's, although it was different in many ways.

Like the first book, I didn't see how the happily ever after was going to be able to come about with Addison and Thaddeus, but of course, everything worked out in the end. I won't give anything away and explain what happens, but I enjoyed it.

There's another book to go in this series, with the third member of the baking group set to get her story. I'm looking forward to giving it a read.

Good Book

Stolen Goods by Kay Marie was a cute good girl meets bad guy and they fall in love tale. While Thad might be a criminal he’s not exactly the bad guy everyone paints him to be. Thad and Addison’s character arcs were great! I loved reading and watching them grow into better versions of themselves. Their road trip adventure was filled with some sweet moments between the two of them.

Good read but not a comedy. Thad was a sweet hero but the whole time I was yelling WHO IS EMMA? I’m glad how that turned out. Addy finally came out of her shell at the end.

I liked this book a little more than the first one in the series but not by much. I really enjoyed the relationship between Addison and Thad and how Addison came out of her shell a bit. It was hard to see how the happy ending would come to be considering the circumstances. But it was a cute, satisfying end. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Ha I was gonna say they totally gave Rapunzel/Flynn Ryder vibes but she mentions Tangled in the blurb 😶

Anyways. I was not emotionally invested in Thad’s story or character 😬 Maybe I got the signals wrong in the first book but I thought this would be Leo’s story. Oh well. It was alright. Another insta love with some frustrating parts and some cute parts. I miss Jo and Nate 🤷🏻‍♀️
