Cyrus Winters, an omega wolf and an ice mage is dangerous to others. After running away from his birth pack at an early age, Cyrus traveled from place to place in hopes of finding a pack that would accept him. But once they realized that he was no ordinary omega wolf, they quickly turned their backs on him. Alone and shunned as a monster, Cyrus has kept himself hidden at the top of the Wichita Mountains where nobody would reach him. That is, until he hears the song of his fated mate.
Dorian Lovell once had the family he’d always dreamed of, but after the death of his son, his whole world fell apart. When he begins having dreams about a white wolf at the top of a mountain, howling for him, Dorian realizes that he may have found his fated mate. Joining his friend Tobias’ pack in the Wichita Mountains, Dorian sets out to find the wolf from his dream; but once he meets Cyrus, he quickly realizes that mating with the frosty omega won’t be as easy as he thought it’d be.
An omega with a heart of ice, and an alpha who’s destined to thaw him out. With a threat to Cyrus’ life approaching, the two must learn to come together as one. Can Dorian’s pack accept the gifted omega, and can Cyrus trust his life and future to his new pack, and the alpha the fates paired him with?

JM Wolf never thought he would one day say that he's a published M/M romance author. Having a poet for a mother and a sister to once ran a blog, it was only a matter of time before JM discovered his writing genes. In the beginning, his sole purpose in life was to be a singer/songwriter. Writing lyrics was the first step putting his thoughts onto paper. Even while singing, JM always found time to dabble with writing little short stories but never thought too much about it.
Once he reached adulthood, his music dreams left him, but not the feel of writing down what was in his mind. However, that didn't mean music no longer played a part in JM's life. His debut book The Black Feather was inspired by one of his favorite songs. Whether lyrics or love stories, you will always find JM's heart and soul in every word on paper.
JM Wolf lives in Chesapeake, VA with his husband and in-laws. When he's not writing, you could always find reading a good book, spending time with the love of his life, or jamming out to music. He didn't pick the world of literature; the literary world picked him.
I’m just not on the mood for mediocre omega smut today.
Spoilers ahead
I thought there were quite a few things off with this book.
At first Cyrus was made out to be this loner wolf that’s considered an abomination and a monster. He lives alone atop the mountain and yadda yadda yadda...
But then all of a sudden BOOM... Cyrus is actually this bad ass omega that goes into the city and get coffee and robs pharmacies, but it’s ok because he’s saving omegas everywhere, and he works with an alpha doctor at the university (even though he tells us every page that he hates alphas) to create a super serum to protect omegas from their heats and the potential abuse that comes with them....
So bad ass right...?
The pharmacy scene was the most ridiculous thing I’ve read in a long time. So I guess omegas, mainly the human ones since they don’t know shifters exist, need a form signed off by an alpha to get birth control and heat blockers. But screw that because our bad ass omega goes in and demands them. Obviously the man behind the counter says no since he doesn’t have a form... well our omega says f that and freezes his pinky off and demands them again. Obviously this gets results and he gets the pills he wants.. then our bad ass omega casts a spell so the poor guy with forget everything that just happened... Please tell me why he didn’t just cast a spell or use his magic to begin with??? Seems like a waste of time and considering the guy is still missing a finger, an unjustified abuse. Not only that he then takes the pills to the Alpha doctor at the university to work some science magic... could that alpha not signed like a million forms for you to get the pills? Or get them himself....
Also I hated Dorian. He was married for 18 years and had a 14 year old son that ended up dying of cancer 3 years before. He and his wife had tried to make their marriage work but couldn’t and got divorced a year later...
Dorian talked about how he’s been lonely for so long just like Cyrus and and blah blah blah he doesn’t want to be lonely anymore.... I’m sorry, pretty sure Cyrus has been alone practically his whole life... Dorian has only been alone 2 years, and had a seeming happy and loving family for the 18 years prior. Obvious the cancer and losing a child is a big deal, but it just didn’t work... The emotion and the timing just wasn’t there for me.
I finally decided to end the book after some doggie style sex in which our alpha manages gets his chest painted with cum by our omega... even though they are both currently on hands and knees... chest to back... doggie style... sexy big spoon little spoon...
Idk... maybe these shifters do it different... or have ginormous dicks like fire hoses that can wrap around you and spray someone on the chest... (you’re most welcome for the image btw)
Anyways rant over, I can’t believe 46% of a dnf book got this much out me.... Sorry for the verbal diarrhea and the constant state of mockery... I’m a little tired and grumpy... and really want cheese cake...
Cyrus thinks he is cursed by the gifts he has... he is a wolf and a ice mage. He is cold frozen all over his body and is all alone for years, no pack will have him because of who and what he is. Cyrus is chased and hiding because some alpha’s want this omega dead.
Dorian has dreams about a fated mate as white as snow. He can hear his wolfsong. When they finally meet they both know they found their mate. Only it isn’t that simple.
A well thought out story with amazing omega’s and alpha’s. There is love and hate, revenge and pardon and an outstanding giftedly omega. A pack strong as a building. And there were beautiful shifters of all kind. At times is was very tensive I was holding my breath. The humor was great and gave some air at all the tension.
I loved the whole package, a fabulous plot, a stunning scenery, beautiful creatures and all captivating as hell. Cyrus and Dorian were the main characters but the other pack members were important as well. There is a promise for a series... I would love to see more of this pack.
Even in a world where you have a male fated mate, evidently you must also have been previously married to a female for 18 years. I've seen some pretty outrageous motivations for gay-for-you plots, but having your child's death result in ending your 18 year heterosexual marriage so that you can suddenly find your male fated mate has got to be one of the most bizarre ones yet.
I was drawn to Frostbite from both the blurb and the lovely cover, but unfortunately this one ended up being a DNF for me due to editorial issues. Almost from the start, I was noticing editing errors and typos. Most of the time when I see these types of problems, they are minor enough that I am able to ignore them and focus on the story. However, in this case, there were just so many issues that they quickly became all I could see. By 10% into the book, I was more than distracted by the errors, and by the time I reached 25%, I realized there was no way I could do a review of this story justice as I was unable to focus on anything other than the numerous editorial problems.
Tolle neue Wandler-Reihe. Ich bin wirklich positiv überrascht. Die Geschichte war von Anfang an richtig spannend und immer wieder überraschend. Es gab Action, Drama und natürlich Romantik.
Wolf shifter and Mage, an interesting combination that made a fascinating story. I didn't want to put this book down. I want to read the next one now. I enjoyed all of the characters and want to read Tobias' and his mate's story.
It wasn't five stars because of sack of depth in parts of the story and a couple of retiring caught by editing. Still a very good book that I am happy to recommend.
This was the book I've been waiting for. It has everything that I love in an MPreg....fated mates, a close pack strong alphas, sweet omegas, adorable babies and a great story behind it all. This book was so good I didn't want to put it down. JM Wolf has created a wonderful world here. Cyrus was so cool (literally) and Dorian was a strong but loving alpha. I love when packs have multiple alphas and omegas. It gives the world such a broader landscape for stories. I can't wait to read more about these guys.
Cyrus and Dorian sucked me in from the start. I loved that Dorian moved to Oklahoma just to find his mate. I did wonder how he would convince Cyrus to mate with him though. I hated that Cyrus had such a hard life but I loved how he fought for what's right and fought to protect himself and other omegas. I liked that he was both shifter and a mage. He's a great character and kicks some serious butt. I was fascinated by his magic. Imagine being able to do that? Seriously, cool. I also loved that as strong as he was, he still has those wonderful omega qualities. He was so sweet with little Nate. Those scenes were adorable. I might be a little bit in love with Cyrus myself. I loved Dorian too. He was strong yet gentle and very loving. I couldn't help but laugh at his exasperation with Cyrus. These guys were a perfect match and I hope they stay a bit part of the series.
My god. I'm so enamored by this book. The way each little bit of the story unfolded and how the introduction of each new character added such depth to it. I find myself wanting a book for everybody. Bruno's need for Timothy and Tobias broke my heart. And I didn't even like him at the beginning. Sweet Todd needs to meet his fated alpha mate too. I have a feeling his story is going to break my heart too. And Trace....sweet sexy Trace and Diablo....oh there's a killer story there. I need that one like, yesterday.
The writing had plenty of minor errors (and the author’s bio and website mirror this), but since I tend to speed read and love me some omegaverse fluff, I’m usually pretty forgiving. However, given the overall high rating, I’m not hesitant about being totally forthright that this story is absolutely not-for-me because of the behavior of one of the protagonists which I find totally off-putting. (In cases like this, I feel I can share my true, very negative reaction just in case others might have similar triggers without tanking the overall ratings).
I’m not fond of Alphaphole protagonists as heroes in romance. This author takes it one step further with the Omega protagonist filling the a**hole role, justifying entirely unnecessary violence (permanent maiming) against anyone who happens to be the wrong gender (and/or just in the way). I find it to be pretty repulsivewhen it’s an Alphahole or, in this case, an Omegahole. If that had been perpetrated on an innocent omega (or woman) just because that omega/woman had something an Alpha protagonist wanted (and there were many other ways for the Alpha protagonist to get it), I would have despised that Alpha “hero.” Just because it’s an Omega doing it to a relatively innocent Alpha who was basically following the rules doesn’t make it any better.
This was a different take on Omega's, I enjoyed reading about one that was strong, stronger than most Alphas. Cyrus' story tore at my heartstrings. I hated all that he had to go through just because he was born different.
I really didn't mind the fact that Dorian had a wife and a child way before he met Cyrus, for one, Dorian was twice Cyrus' age, so of course he lived a life before he met Cyrus. It was tied up a little too neatly to allow for Dorian and Cyrus to be together but that didn't take away from the story.
The story line is extremely interesting and not only can I not wait to read the next book, I am also very intrigued to read Tobias, Bruno and Tim's story too.
OK, so this doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and it's definitely an HEA for Cyrus and Dorian, but more things are set to happen with a different omega in the next book.
I thought I had an idea of who Diablo was (now I think I still do, only it's someone else, if that makes any sense), but as for the one who seems to be behind all Cyrus's troubles? I have a feeling it might be his father.
I have to admit I'm intrigued by Chay. What kind of spellcaster (love that term!) will their son be?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
*snorts* well JM for this being your first more you knocked it out of the park with your 'ass-babies' lol. I think Cyrus is my spirit animal. I have a few now. Funny as hell. But this really was a good story. Such a good plot. I love the way it was set up for the next one. good action and all. Now I'm ready for the next ones cuz I have a feeling I know who that hooded character is......
Not my cuppa. Disliked Cyrus - arrogant with a mean spiteful streak. His omega character was very Joyee Flynn-esque. Dorian was a passive wall flower. Writing had a YA vibe. DNF.
A/b/o existed with only shifters in this omegaverse. Alphas were a pretty nasty lot and their bad behavior was typically blamed on omegas. Pack bigotry was extremely harsh and horrific.
I would have used muzzle instead of snout for wolf anatomy.
This is the author's first jump into the world of shifter ABO mpreg, as well as the first book I have read from him. Overall, I enjoyed the storytelling and romance, I felt there were a few inconsistencies or things that didn't work for me, and look forward to more.
Cyrus is an omega wolf shifter and an ice mage. Because of his unusual abilities, he has been shunned, hunted, and hurt people, and is living on his own trying to stay away from anyone he might harm. I thought that the blend of magic and shifters was interesting, and made for a fresh story. I will say, there were some times when I wasn't sure if Cyrus really could or couldn't control his ice, and sometimes he seemed cold to the touch with no warning, and other times he was fine. The "rules," as it were, didn't seem concrete all the time. And sometimes he was a bit hard to like! I mean, he was pretty brutal at times.
Dorian is an alpha shifter, and is recovering from his own loss of his son. He keeps having dreams of a white wolf, and knows that he is dreaming of his mate. He finds Cyrus, and convinces him to give pack life - and him - a try. I thought that they had great chemistry together, and although things moved quickly, it seemed right for the two of them.
I also really loved the other pack mates, and I can't wait for their stories. I'm especially interested in Trace, what happened with him, Tim and his two alphas, and then Diablo. Looking forward to the next story in the series!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Cyrus Winters is a half wolf shifter, half mage. At the age of 13, when his pack decided he needed to be executed, his mother protected him so he could escape and was killed in the process. This started Cyrus on the path of hating alphas. Over the years he alternately tried joining other packs, which they ended up turning on him and roaming free. He ends up alone in a cabin in the Witchita Mountains.
Dorian Lovell is a wolf shifter who was married for 18 years and had a son. His son Patrick died from brain cancer and it broke up his marriage. He starts having dreams of a white wolf who calls to him and ends up moving to Oklahoma to the Witchita wolf pack, which is lead by his best friend Tobias. His dreams continue to get move vivid and Dorian decides to track up the mountain to find the wolf who's calling out for him.
When Dorian and Cyrus meet, Cyrus tries to freeze him and finds that his powers don't work on Dorian. They talk about being mates, a little about their pasts and end up in bed. The next morning Cyrus asks Dorian to leave. Dorian agrees but asks Cyrus to think about giving him a chance. Cyrus goes into town and we find out that he is working with a human alpha making heat suppressors for the omegas. Cyrus has a nasty run-in with a pharmacist that shows how his past has shaped him. He's not a very nice omega at this point. After 2 weeks Cyrus decides to give Dorian and the Witchita pack a chance. It's slow going but he eventually starts to change and become a caring omega. When Trace a pack member is attacked, it comes to light that an old pack of Cyrus's is out to kill him and it seems that there's someone pulling strings to see it happens.
I really liked the change in Cyrus's character throughout the story. I also liked that Dorian had a previous life with a wife but doesn't bat an eye that his fated mate is a male and that Cyrus is stronger than him as well. I did think it odd that Dorian's son Patrick died from cancer and that in most shifter stories they heal from those things or are immune to them but each author has their own take on shifters and that's what keeps each story unique. There's a twist between Alpha Tobias, his second Alpha Bruno and the omega Tim that is from Cyrus's old pack. The supporting characters in the story all play an integral part and carry the story along. The sex between Cyrus and Dorian is hot; although, there was one scene that someone else mentioned where the sex position didn't seem supportive of how the ejaculate happened but I just read on ignored it since the story was so good. This is a well written book with only a couple of spelling errors found. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes M/M shifter romance with a little mystery thrown in. Really looking forward to reading Diablo.
I’m going to go with the ending/climax first because it was the best thing about the book. The lead in to the fight and the fight itself were well done, interesting and as believable as these thing get. I like that at least one characters weren’t all or nothing, one of those being the titular character. He’s not just the sweet sap running from evil. He does some evil himself like at the pharmacy. Because of that, it was awkward thinking of him as someone who trusted a pack so quickly and completely; or even wanting one for that matter.
Now about the stuff I hated: This is everything that I find awful in many omega verses. It’s the reason I read them very rarely. I know they’re not all this way and I’ve given a couple five stars but this one? It’s an excuse to have traditional roles for men and women without getting modern women upset. Or maybe to give some modern women what they really want. I’m grossed out myself.
It is so heteronormative it’s sickening. It’s emulating a women barefoot and pregnant culture, the “female” role is of course the male omega being not only pregnant and the one responsible for household chores, he says he’s the only one who can do it because he’s the only omega in the house. Another omega is asked to come help with a feast because the first one mentioned in the book will only let omegas help him. So they called in one who had a toddler to watch.
Another time, men are setting up for the bbq outside and an omega rides up. He’s told to go inside and help with the buffet. He’s told he has submitted to his partner (poor choice of words—not a true partner). It’s revolting. At one point less than a paragraph, a couple of sentences really, an Omega says he wants to work for omega rights since they didn’t really have any. But that’s all that is said on the subject.
“We know who wears the pants in this relationship,” is a phrase made to manipulate men and make them feel inferior when they let women have any power. It’s such a sexist saying but indicative of the world being built here. The only other female is a rare beta. Most of the others, men, are alphas. The alphas aren’t even allowed in the delivery room to see their babies being born.
I don’t plan to read the next one in part because it’s a ménage.
Other than that, here are a few more negative comments:
Wolves don’t see in black and white. They are red/green colorblind meaning they don’t see all colors, only a subset.
Where does he get his money? If he can control the frost, why does he wear gloves?
Some if it was so dumb like the fact that his body was negative 100 degrees because it was living ice. That’s ridiculously cold and unnecessary. No one would be able to come near him let alone touch him. He wouldn’t be able to lean on things, even if his outer body is warmer. How much could the outside and inside differ?
Dorian has been dreaming of and hearing the song of the wolf who can only be his mate. Drawn to the mountains that are nestled in his friend Tobias’ lands, he has no choice but to go. There is, though, the small matter of Frostbite, a semi-legend slash horror story about a white wolf who has been killing alpha wolves. But Cyrus has been defending himself, and Dorian is, in his eyes, another threat. When Dorian is unaffected my Cyrus’ magic, he knows that Dorian is his mate. There is just the fact of whether he WANTS a mate, and whether Tobias will accept him into the pack, legends and all.
I came across book two of this series on social media, I forget which. THAT book was free, and this one was only 99p, (27/03/19) so I grabbed them both and I am so glad I did!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
It’s sufficiently different to make it interesting, with the alpha male wolves being able to have children with females, but only their FATED MATE can be male. Dorian was married to a human woman; they had a child who died. Cyrus never had any children, he didn’t to pass the horror of HIS childhood upon another.
Dorian KNOWS Cyrus is his mate, he can hear his sorrow and loneliness in his song. Cyrus, however, needs to come to Dorian. CYRUS needs to ask to join the pack. Tobias is, to be fair, quite a . . .laid back Alpha. Well, laid back til you cross his pack and put anyone in it in danger. He accepts Cyrus, and the other omegas take him under his wing. Cyrus had been without anyone for a long time. Now he has a MATE, and a PACK that has accepted him, and his story. And when Cyrus’ past comes to attack that family and pack, they all gather up, and show Cyrus just what that means.
We are introduced to the legend of Diablo, which is book two and we are given hints about Tobias, who is maybe not just wolf, but just WHAT, that remains to be seen!
First I’ve read of this author, I need more!
A thoroughly enjoyable, well worth the 99p I paid for it, read.
I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion. This is the authors first foray into the mpreg world and I got to say he's done a bang up job and is running right up there with the big well know authors from this genre. I absolutely loved this book, it was well written and automatically absorbed and hooked me right into Cyrus and Dorians world with its detailed world building. It had all the emotions for a well rounded read, humour, angst, love and an interesting plot of magic, shifters, sadness and a baddie or two trying to kill one of our characters. Cyrus is an abnormality of being a wolf and being a mage as he can manipulate snow /ice. After an incident and his mother is killed he feels that he will always be alone.
"It had been years since I felt any kind of heat on me, not since my magic fused with the snow and I became Jack Frost for the rest of my life. The warmth that came with Dorian Lovell’s hands on me was like being reacquainted with an old friend, and I wasn’t ready to let it go."
Dorian is an alpha, who in a dream sees his fated mate but its not going to be easy to convince Cyrus of mating. There's a bit of a may /december theme and I liked that Dorian was a placid, laidback Alpha and Cyrus an omega was a little bit more bossy wearing the trousers though there partnership worked well. Dorian sad history really pulled on the heartstrings and I liked that though gone they weren't forgotten which was nice. A really good story and I'm just biting at the bit for Traces and the fire aspect🔥 and of course the continuing story of Dorian and Cyrus🐺🎑
This was my first dip into the writing of JM Wolf and also my first shifter/mpreg book and I have to say that I loved it. JM's style of writing is fluid and very easy to read. I wasn't sure what to expect with m/preg but it wasn't as bad as I thought and fitted into the story seamlessly.
When we first find out about Cyrus the ice omega shifter, it seems that he isn't a very nice person at all. Dorian keeps seeing him in his dreams and realises that Cyrus is his fated mate and sets off to find him. Cyrus feels the pull to Dorian but doesn't believe in fated mates and just wants to be left alone to wallow in his sorrow and belief that he is evil. One night with Dorian soon changes that, although Cyrus isn't totally convinced as he has a hatred of Alphas, due to some traumatic events in his past where he ended up freezing other shifters to death, hence his reputaiton. As we get to know Cyrus, he seems more likeable but has a very traumatic past. When he eventually decides to go and find Dorian's pack, he likes what he finds and is accepted as one of them despite his reputation. He and Dorian mate and he settles into pack life and all seems well until word arrives of a battle brewing. Will his pregnancy allow him to use his powers to save his mate and the pack he now loves and calls family? The battle scene is well written and you can easily imagine the characters and what they are going through. Will it all end well for the pack? Read on to find out.
I am really looking forward to book 2 in this series and finding out more about the mysterious Diablo and his and Trace's story.
I liked that the Omega’s has a back bone and feisty. The Alpha’s were also diff that they didn’t always come to the rescue.....
When we start this book the lead M is in a dream state looking for his mate...we learn that he figures out where he is these reoccurring dream and moves to be close to his Omega.... We start to meet the rest of the pack and other secondary people in the book...
When the two main characters meet they are not on the same playing field strength wise.... we find out the Omega Mate is famous for killing Alpha’s who tried to hurt him... Along the way we learn how Cyrus became who he is...
Through out the book you start to see Cyrus trying to adapt to his new environment and to see that not every person is like the people from his past.. We see a gentler version of him that can calm and be caring. The pack through time helped him to become a better person..
At the end we see how powerful MC’s are together. We see how they were meant to be with each other and how they help each other fight Cyrus’s past.
This is not a traditional shifter book. We do see a lot of common similarities between additional and a new way to present them... There is violence but there is also love and a lot of smiles and good laughs...
To my ratings (thanks to amazon I had to change it again and 'upgrade' it a little bit.):
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like 'Liberty' from Seth Kann ing, 'Save that he kids' series from EM Leya or 'Jesse's Smile' from Angelique Jurd), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, but not really an often reread book
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
I am madly in love with this story! JM Wolf does a brilliant job in this shifter M-preg. His world is familiar enough with other stories of this sub-trope that I didn’t have to scramble around trying to piece it together and I was able to instantly engage with the story. The characters are well written and relatable, I got a big kick out of Cyrus who really does seem like an Alpha in an Omega’s body. I liked that he had that little something extra. It made his character rare, precious and a touch dangerous. Cyrus and Dorian both had some tragic pasts to overcome and the angst level was just perfect. I felt for these guys and was rooting for them but I never felt like they were overdone. I would say the same for the build-up of their relationship… there was instant attraction but they built up to being in love which made the whole “fated mates” that much more believable. This book has some serious feels, I laughed and cried and even had my heart in my throat during some particularly suspenseful scenes. There was a great build up for the next book in the series through the secondary characters and I really hope I’ll be reading about Toby, Tim and Bruno soon.
This is my first book by JM Wolf and it certainly won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book. The author's first attempt at mpreg was a well-earned success. It was a very unique take. Cyrus is a beautiful white wolf with the power of ice magic. His life was a struggle and left him lonely which came through his wolfsong. Alpha Dorian hears his song and knows the white wolf in his dreams is his mate. Their meeting is magnetic and that pull to each other creates immense passion. This story has everything I love in it. Angst, passion, action, and a beautiful happily ever after. Cyrus or Frostbite, as his legend calls him, is an omega that doesn't have to have an alpha to protect him. I really enjoy reading about omegas like him. And Dorian is the perfect alpha. He is understanding, very loving and definitely protective. Their love story was perfectly written and I plan on revisiting many more times. I am counting the days until the second story is released about Diablo and Trace. Anyone who loves MM, paranormal, fated mates, and mpreg will be very happy they chose to read this!
*WARNING* contains explicit adult m/m sexual situations and violence. Cyrus has accepted that he is to live alone. A body isn't suppose to hold wolf and mage, so maybe Cyrus should give up. Cyrus knows everyones fears him, he knows he's a monster, so what does that want? Dorian keeps having dreams that his fated mate lives on top of a snow covered mountain. After Dorian lost his son to cancer, believing in the dream gives him something to hope for, live for. This was an interesting story. I liked the storyline. The mage/wolf thing was quite original as well as what he is able to do and what he uses to do it with. Quite often it's often "opposites attract" with these stories, but with this one, both of these characters are broken down by what life had thrown at them. This is a great start to a new series. I'll be checking out book two soon.
I stumbled across this book and have never read from this author before but let me tell you that this story had me emotionally up and down, crying and cheering but also learning that our past doesn’t always have to hold us back. Dorian has suffered a great loss, his son dying of cancer and then divorce because of the loss. He kept having dreams that kept leading him to a white wolf and hearing the matesong. Cyrus is half wolf and half mage with magic to turn things and people into ice but his past has lead him to not trust alphas or packs. Both finally come together to mate but learn to trust in each other and their pack again. One of the best live stories I have read this year can’t wait to continue with the next and the whole packs.
If your looking for the normal shifter that's blase then stop, this is not your book. This book is intense, with amazing elements that will keep you on your toes. A combination of magic, sweetness, mayhem and downright fun, this book will make you want to re-read it time and again. Cyrus pulls you in, you feel for him and want to help him, squeeze him and love him... and maybe call him George (had to add that). You pull for Cyrus not only to find love but to be the strong one who can do it all with a vengeance. And the little breadcrumbs of Trace and what he's hiding or Tobias and what is inside him that makes him different... I just want more.
A different take on the shifter trope. Cyrus was the star of this story for me, l loved his sass and strength. There's so much going on, the title of the book could've been Magic and Mayhem! There's also a lot of humour, parts of the story certainly made me smile. It's shifter/mpreg, the first attempt by the author, and I have to say he did a really good job. For some reason I didn't immediately care much for Dorian, but I soon warmed up to him. The secondary characters were interesting, and I look forward to reading about some of them in future books. Overall, a well written book and interesting concept.
