They missed out on love...or so they thought.

At seventy-seven, Wes Brenner is certain he's lived a full life. But one thing he'll never know is true love.

When he heads to Heathrow Estates retirement community, planning to spend the rest of his days playing golf and taking spin classes, he runs into an acquaintance from his hometown: Art Cromley.

Although they'd never discussed it when they were younger, they shared a secret. And what begins as catching up on the good ole days transforms into long walks, which turns into so much more...

Wes begins feeling something for Art...something he never allowed himself to feel before.

Art Cromley spent his life chasing romance and love, but instead, found liars and cheaters.

He gave up on silly notions of 'happily ever after' and 'forever and ever' a long time ago, but when Wes Brenner comes to live at Heathrow Estates, Art discovers a connection unlike anything he's ever experienced with another man--a connection that gives him a reason to hope.

But isn't it too late for them?

Isn't it too late for love or dreams of forever and ever?

Devon McCormack grew up in the Georgia suburbs with his two younger brothers and an older sister. At a very young age, he spun tales the old fashioned way, lying to anyone and everyone he encountered. He claimed he was an orphan. He claimed to be a king from another planet. He claimed to have supernatural powers. He has since harnessed this penchant for tall tales by crafting worlds and characters that allow him to live out whatever fantasy he chooses. Devon is an out and proud queer man living in Atlanta, Georgia.

Devon's body of work ranges from erotica to young adult, so readers should check the synopses of his books before purchasing so that they know what they're getting into.

"Forever and Ever" by Devon McCormack features two men in their 70s who fall in love at a retirement community. This story is deeply heartwarming. It is a lovely testament to aging & falling in love at any age. Also features some great secondary characters.

Highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic

One of the most unique and heartwarming books I have ever read. I love that the author took a chance on writing a romance for two men who down the road in years. True romance and love comes to people of all ages and physiques. This book reminds us that it is never too late to find happiness in life.

Their story is so much sweeter and more meaningful than the majority of romance books we read today. I know without a doubt that Wes and Art’s story will stay with me for many years to come. I wish I could give it more than five stars. It deserves all the stars.

What a gem of a sweet #romance! Art & Wes are absolutely delightful and it's high time we had elderly lovers captured like this. I adored the slower pace of their romance & how beautifully it captures their love. Well done Devon 💙

Oh ... *crying happy but bittersweet tears*. This is just so lovely. There are few romance novels about people this age, and I totally get why, but this absolutely broke my heart in the sweetest way. I loved them, I loved that they found each other finally even though they had found each other years before even though it didn't work out then. I loved that this so delicately, but clearly pointed out the damage done to people who deserved to love who they actually loved all the years they weren't allowed to. I really hated what happened to Art even though he made it through.

I'm just a mess, my heart hurts even though everything worked out for them within the story. This story brings home the damage done to those that were, and infuriatingly still are, stopped from finding the love they deserve.

I may not re-read because it messed me up, but I loved it all the same.

May need a tissue:- for laughing, smiling and tears.

A story of two people who meet again in their later years.

Both have their own memory of a meeting that they had many generations earlier.. Although their recall to details is slightly different the feelings they both felt were not..

Follow Wes and Art through their lovely journey together, it will squeeze your heart and along the way make you laugh and cry.

With an array of colourful characters that make up the famous five at Heathrow Estates, come and join them. There is never a dull moment in this delightful story.

I've read this author before, but never a solo story. This book is about Art and Wes both 77 yo. They meeting at a retirement village and realise they meet each other as youths. A beautiful story about love, no matter what age or how much time has passed. I'll read this author again.

This was a really lovely, true second chance love story. Wes and Art, especially Art, deserved all the happiness that life had to offer them.
I had been slowly sneak reading this book a few chapters at a time at work, but when I got to the last few chapters I knew that wasn't going to work, because with 2 to go the waterworks started! So I finished reading at home, and I'm so glad I did- I could cry without judgement!

Forever and Ever is proof that there is no time limit on love.

I read this book for a book challenge that required reading a book with a main character in their seventies. The story was sweet and soulful. It was a nice representation of what a mostly ideal life at that age could be. I think it dragged at the end and while I like a happy ending, it was a little overly neat and unrealistic at times.

What a beautiful, heart warming story of finding love in the later years of life. It’s refreshing to read a story with elderly main characters. Art and Wes’s story was beautifully written by Devon. I loved it.

I liked this sweet story but would have liked it so much more if the pace was picked up. The way that Wes and Art flirted was endearing. Some of the secondary characters from the retirement village were fun.

So refreshing to read a story about retired men falling in love, and I loved how what they wore when they met as youngsters turned into a bit of a red thread through their tale. Still smiling :)

That retirement estate sounds like heaven to me :)

The blurb sounded interesting, so I tried the sample and have to say - the writing style is not for me. I found it totally boring.

DNF @ 85% because it was just ... booooooring :( I wanted to like this so much, but the writing was just too simplistic, which was not a problem at all in the other other book I've read from this author, and it was a bad choice.

It was really hard to get into and I kept waiting for it to pick up -- but it wasn't a pacing issue, really, is the thing. It was the strangely simple, almost dumbed down writing style that was used with the internal dialog. I love the concept, and I actually really liked the details -- the cast of secondary characters, daily life in their retirement complex, their first date, Art's self-consciousness of his changing body -- and when we were in those moments I was enjoying it and there was some very effective humor. But the romance is the whole point of this one, and the odd stiltedness there just did not work.

It was a weird choice, and I didn't like the amount of play the homophobes in the retirement community got, even though I have no doubt that would be accurate, so when it headed into another scene with them at the 85% mark I just couldn't make myself keep going. There's some really good stuff here, and with more depth it would have been truly excellent, but the execution just doesn't live up to the potential.

DNF @ 15%

I had such high hopes for this book but sadly, nothing about it worked for me. The basis of this book's romance hinges on one of my most hated romance tropes: characters have a short conversation decades ago and that interaction has conveniently remained a highlight of both their lives ever since. Making things worse is that the short interaction between the characters happened SIXTY YEARS AGO. I can suspend disbelief when reading romance books, but I refuse to budge for that stupid trope.

Making things worse, the pacing moved at a snail's pace with irrelevant actions being stretched out with pointless details (like how Art puts together his shopping list, how he gets to the store and how he shops when he's at the store). I also didn't like the dialog, especially Art's. The way he talked made it sound like he was reading out-loud from a textbook. It was very odd.

But what ultimately killed my desire to continue reading is that both Art and Wes talked about issues like homosexuality and homophobia as if they're very liberal 20 year old college students. I've been around plenty of elderly people, some liberal and some conservative, yet none of them talk and think like 20 year old SJWs in 2021.

Forever and Ever is a very different kind of story for Devon McCormack. And he excelled at this beautiful change in his writing style.

Occasionally we'll get some great romances between middle aged men. But, how often do we get to read a tender romance between two elderly men? Never, right? Devon McCormack switched things up by gifting us with this emotionally rewarding second chance romance.

Two men, both in their late seventies, reunite in a retirement home community. They grew up in a time when being gay was really not an option. Yet, one did live his best life as a gay man. The other took the marriage and kids route.

Their second chance is so damn inspiring. It's never to late to find true love. It's also a fantastic reminder that it's never too old to try to have a sex life, if one can let go of their uncertainties and insecurities.

I love Forever and Ever! Not only is it unique, it is remarkable, impressive, and enchanting. Do not miss out on this phenomenal story. It is truly a gem!

Heartwarming, funny, perfection!

I’m a big fan of Devon’s and if its possible this book has made me love his work even more; he’s really outdone himself with Forever & Ever. Wes and Art are such loveable characters and their story was beautiful. Just like real life the story touches on regret, loss, sadness, heartbreak, loneliness and some people’s inability to be accepting of love regardless of whatever form it comes in. I love how the story also represents courage - courage to love who you choose, courage to stand up for those you call friend and courage to take a chance on love regardless of what stage of life you happen to be in. Wes and Art’s story reminds us that love is love regardless of what form it takes or how old you are and that if you find it you should grab a hold and enjoy every moment. I love how it ended right back at their beginning, just simple perfection Devon ❤️❤️

This, by far, to me is one of your greatest stories

Devon, if I could give you 20 stars I would. This story of Wes and Art was exceptional! Absolutely amazing!

I laughed til my sides ached and I cried the ugly cry that required more than a couple of tissues. I would put the book down to reflect on certain passages and be so emotionally moved by a moment that I felt it in my soul.

This, by far, to me is one of your greatest stories. I love Wes and Art and I love their love for each other. Life and people can oftentimes be unfavorably cruel based on how they were raised and their inherent beliefs. But I applaud your characterization of how Wes and Art respond with dignity and grace to the bigotry. Kudos to you. I wish I could just give you a big hug and pinch your cheeks with how proud I am of this story and how perfectly you told it. (I grew up in the south a bit in my youth as well) lol. ;-)

Thank you, Devon. Writing done well.

A few years ago when I was still an MM romance newbie, I discovered Forever and Ever by Devon McCormack. I was intrigued by the cover art and the blurb since the book featured two older MCs (late 60s/early 70s) by a new to me author. I grabbed this favorite when the author put it on sale for a short period of time because Forever and Ever is stole my attention from the first pages.

I consider this a second chance romance with older MCs reconnecting after decades apart in a small, sleepy town of Georgia. I love reading about older MCs and getting another shot at love. Wes and Art's story of meeting again, developing a friendship and becoming more intimate made me so emotional. It was very sweet, hopeful, romantic, and sobering at times when I think about how far society has come and how much more we have to go. Hankies required.

I was super intrigued by this story about 2 men who are in their 70's, who knew each other from their hometown but went in very different directions. It started a bit slow for me, and I almost did keep reading but I am so glad I did. What an amazing story about the lives of two men, one with a family, one without, both having different experiences being gay men, and now living in a retirement community. This was a slow burn of how Wes and Art rekindled a friendship that turned into love. It wasn't easy, both had some insecurities, Art more then Wes, body image, age, bad romances, having kids, and bigots, all of the same issues all couples go through no matter the age. It was refreshing story and one I would highly recommend.

3.5, rounded up to 4.

That was delightful. I have always wanted to read a late late gay romance featuring real geriatrics and this one scratched the itch. I love Art and Wes. Love their lack of inhibition, they know they've missed out so they have no qualms in going all in. The dialogue was maybe too wordy and not representative of actual old people speech, it felt like they were just two regular middle aged men. And the huge but sensible emotional damper in the penultimate chapter should have been placed earlier in the story so we get to see more of the couple reckoning with it. But overall, yeah, I loved this. The epilogue being the start of it all? GENIUS. Made my heart sting. God I love Art and Wes so much, they deserved so much more time!!!!!!!

A truly enjoyable read reminding us that love still can happen, even in the twilight years of life

This is so sweet, it is just lovely. For Art who had never found true love in his life, at 77 he felt it had passed him by, but when a new resident moved to his retirement village, things changed. Wes had lived in his town as a boy and once upon a time. Art might have aphid a thing for Wes, but Wes had married and moved away.
Wes moves in and soon joins Art and his friends, and falling in love feels easy. The story just flowed, and although I nearly had tears in my eyes by the end, this was totally beautiful and well worth reading.

What a Wonderful Book!

I related to Wes, as I have a very supportive daughter, whom I adore as well as my grandson. But I also related to Art in so many ways. This love story should be read by all ages, to understand what we’ve gone through to get to where our community is today, even as we have farther to go. But it’s also about our love of friends and love for each other. Please, read this story, it will fill you with love! And at 62, it has giving me hope that there is more, and maybe still another Forever and Ever! Thanks Devon

This is truly an exceptional love story. Wes and Art meet again in their late 70s when Wes moves to a senior care housing estate and catches the eye of Art who’s been living there for a few years already. The one and only time they had a conversation before was when they were teenagers. They fall into an easy friendship which then progresses to more. The story this author created around them is almost magical and was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. It’s never too late to fall in love as this story captures the meaning of Forever and Ever.

Our Love Grows Through the Years

Sweet, sad, empowering and fulfilling.
In our mind, as soon as we see the cover, we have an idea about the ending. But what a couple lucky guys and how much joy they're able to share. The ending will be so much better than you might expect.
The book is filled with humor and will give you ideas to liven things up, if you ever end up in a retirement community as they do!

The overall arching lesson...pack as much as you can into every single day and treat your body well!

Wes and Art grew up in the same town and had a chance encounter in their teens that was never acted upon. They meet again when Wes is in his 70s and moving into a retirement centre. Being in my 70s I though this might be an enjoyable and meaningful read. It is a nice story of a friendship that grows steadily but it did not live up to my expectations. Interesting story that moves pretty slowly at times and fraught with homophobia, which should not happen to one in their 70s.
