Phillip My life is golden. I truly have it all. Women, a fast paced racing career, fame, a massive house, and plenty of money. Yeah, life is sweet. Of course, since I’m an Adamson the smooth ride is over as my past comes crashing through making everything complicated. Easy is my comfort zone. Difficult is my nightmare.
Gillian My life has been anything but simple. I’ve seen things that will haunt me for the rest of my life. Still, I refuse to let fear control me. I will face every challenge head on and find a way to prove everyone wrong. It may be difficult, but I will make the world better. Taking the easy way out is not an option.
Nicole Dykes is a wife and a professional assistant/mom to two gorgeous girls. Currently residing in Kansas, she’s a lover of coffee, Kansas City Chiefs, and all things romance.
She's found her passion in writing M/M romance because love is love is love. Some popular works include Hostile, The Spark of Hope Series, and The Kensley Panthers Series!
Another great book by this author. I love the way she writes the families, the banter, the support network - you just want to be an Adamson or Monroe!
It was good to see Philip grow up, but it wasn't without its' trials or tribulations - he had a lot of growing up to do! He also needed the blinkers removed concerning his dad, which this book finally did.
Gillian was a tinsy bit broken, she had been through a lot but loved that she called Philip out, she never let him get away with anything.
A lovely HEA for these two and lots of glimpse of the rest of the crew - an enjoyable read.
I absolutely love the Adamsons! I definitely could NOT stand Phillip for most of the book but I am so so so happy we got to know the “real” him. Gillian is my FAVORITE and I’m so happy that these two broken souls found each other. Thank you Nicole for another amazing book!
I enjoyed this book so much. Phillip is one of the Adamson family and he is the epitome of the successful racer who lives the high life of parties, women and money. But fourteen years ago, when he was eighteen, he hooked up with a girl (one night stand) and they got pregnant. He reaches an agreement with her via his own father who stepped in to keep it all quiet from the press. Now it’s time for him to step up, get involved and be a Dad. Whilst he’s adjusting, he also has to adhere to court orders and that includes frequent visits from the allocated Social Worker, Gillian. And that’s where the trouble really begins....
As a hero, Phillip is a total player and at 32 he has pretty much seen and done it all. He is hot & he knows it. He is unprepared for a child but he does step up and there is a slow connection building between him and his son, Logan. I could have cheerfully slapped Phillip at times. But, watching him develop and mature emotionally was so good. He falls hard for Gillian.
I liked Gillian very much and she has a shocking past that makes her the perfect Social Worker for Logan - and the exact right person for Phillip. This girl takes no crap.
Why not 5 Stars? Well, it was only half a star short but I would have loved a further in the future epilogue and at times I wish Phillip had gone to her more than Gillian initiating things at times. The story is quite fast paced and I maybe wanted to delve a bit deeper into their characters/ relationship. But still, a thoroughly good book.
I would recommend reading the series for the full effect, especially the preceding book.
HEA? More HFN. Cheating? No. But Gillian catches him having sex with a random hookup before they are together. Once together he is loyal.
Thank you so much for the ARC ,Nicole. This is my honest opinion.
Misled is book #3 in the Adamson Family Series, and this one is about Phillip..oh Phillip *sigh* and Gillian. I loved this book sooooo hard, even though I wanted to smack both Phillip and Gillian different times while reading this book!! They are both so stubborn, and holding on to anger because of what they think they "know" to be the truth, and neither one is willing to listen to anything that may change that. So for a lot of the book, I was just pissed off at both of them, and wanted to kick both their asses!! This book had all the emotions too, and you want good things for all involved. Nicole writes kickass families, and you end up falling in love with each and every one of them!! I am sooo recommending not just this book, but this series...hell, ALL of Nicole's books are amazing, and I can not wait to see what she comes up with next, I can tell you one thing...it will be AWESOME!!!
Gillian & Phillip..... this story is so intense! I love how Phillip’s life had a twist thrown in there. With all the complications & life twists that’s in this book, I could not put it down. I love how all the characters from past books are still major in these books. Dykes has really put her heart into these books and it really shows. There’s so much emotion in every page. I can’t wait to read the next book! This book needs 10 🌟🌟🌟!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the third book in the series but each can be read as a standalone. I absolutely loved that we got more of the Monroe family in this book. Phillip is a hotshot bad boy racer who just got custody of the son he abandoned 14 years ago. Gillian works for CPS and is Logan's case worker and she can see right through his tough guy act. I loved this book and can't wait for more from the Adamson crew.
Misled by Nicole Dykes is the 3rd book in The Adamson's Series. This is Phillip and Gillian's book. These two characters are like a live wire when they are together. Phillip is a character that you will love to hate by the end of his story. There is so much emotion and energy poured into this book. Nicole Dykes has out done herself. This book will grab you from the beginning and not let go. There are twists and turns and bumps in the road along the way. Misled is one wild ride!
Phillip is one of those guys that you love to hate and hate to love, but damn if he doesn't have his charms too. Nicole Dykes is the queen of creating completely flawed characters and making us fall hard for their raw reality. Gillian is another one of these shattered souls, but together this unlikely pair are an explosive combination. If they can each work through their own issues there may just be a happily ever just beyond that checkered flag.
This is Phillip Adamson's book. The 3rd in the series. Phillip is a hard headed, cocky, and sexy racer. He is convinced he has to live up to the legacy his father has created. He soon finds out his father isn't who he thought he was. He finally takes over the responsibility of his now teenage son. This is how he met Gillian. Phillip does a lot of growing up in a short time. It takes a woman's love to get him there. Gillian. She is just as hard headed as Phillip. She is smart and sassy but afraid to get close to a man. She is Phillip's son's, Logan, social worker. She has had a rough life growing up and is determined to make other children's lives better. Together they have amazing chemistry and break all the rules to end up together. Nicole knocked it out of the park again! I adore her books!
This author has a unique style of creating a story. There’s not a lot of fluff involved. You get to important parts of the story pretty quick. She jumps right in and takes you immediately on the journey of the the people involved. I have to admit I love that style.
This is a part of the Adamson series. It’s Phillip’s story. Phillip has had what appears to be the easy life up until now. He’s handsome, brash, self assured in life and his opinions especially when it comes to the opposite sex, hard headed and kind of a jerk. One of the main issues with Phillip is, he really hasn’t had to deal with any of his own life issues. Well his life is about to change. Hence the saying. “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans” and “Life can change on a dime”. Enter Gillian, a social worker, who is a no nonsense, caring, independent, and what appears to be self assured woman. She is also gorgeous and has had to deal with her own life issues. Together these two seem as diametrically opposed as night and day. However, there is one common subject they agree on. This is where the story gets complicated. I don’t do spoilers so you have to read to see what they agree on and how they handle it. Let’s just say it sets them off on a course of many different issues they were both ill equipped to handle or so it seems.
What I love about this authors writing is that she writes real people, with real stories. The Adamson and Monroe’s are people you can identify with in real life. Of course there’s a lot of drama but that what makes a good story. I don’t want to paint a complete picture of doom and gloom because that would be a disservice to the author. Within this story you get smiles, angst, romance, anger, misunderstanding, compassion, heartbreak, passion, heat and hope, loyalty and devotion. It is the complete package.
I have to be honest before this author’s books I never read anything about racing in any form. I wasn’ sure what to expect since I never had an interest in the sport. I am happy to admit I really enjoy it. When I hear that the author is writing about either of theAdamson’s or Monroe’s I’m excited. Those of us who read these book of hers have become invested not only in the story but in these families lives. It’s like we know them on a personal level. I think it’s because I now realize there is a story in anything, Nothing is one dimensional. This book brings all emotions to the surface. Do yourself a favor read these books. I for one can’t wait for the next book!
The Adamsons are one of my favourite book families! So when Nicole told me she was writing Phillip's story, I totally done a happy dance.
We have met Phillip in the previous Adamson books and I was always intrigued by him and I am so glad we got his story. Gillian was in the previous book, Mischief, and when we met her, my heart broke for her. When I learned that these two would be getting a book together, I knew it was going to be amazing.
The chemistry between the two heats up the pages in this book. It totally took me on a rollercoaster. The fact that history looked like it was repeating itself as it previously had with Brooke and Dylan (Unsocial, The Monroe Family Book 1) made these two one of my favourite couples. Phillip really stepped up with Logan and it was true to his character that he truly didn't know what to do when becoming a dad.
These two have a special place in my hearts. Their upbringings were similar emotionally but different physically but they both came through the end and found each other.
Once again it was awesome seeing other characters from the previous books and as always, my favourite Monroes.
Misled is the third book of the Adamson Family series which also has tie ins to the Monroe Family series. Misled is Phillip and Gillians story. From the beginning you will get to know a very immature and broken Phillip who thought his father was the gold on all the medals. He was blinded by reality and when it finally struck him, it changed him. His father coerced him into seeing life into a different light and 14 years after a life altering decision, that all came to a head. Gillian who is previously mentioned in the Adamson series gets brought into Phillips life unexpectedly and without knowing the connections. Like you, Gillian hates him at first. He goes against everything she believes in. Over time Phillip starts to see life in a different light, a light which Gillian shines through.
Author Nicole Dykes has a way of writing that will make you want to be part of this crazy, dysfunctional family and group of friends. While I personally struggled initially with Phillips immature and arrogant way about him, Nicole Dykes did not fail him. By the end I loved him, just like the rest of the gang! This is a must read!
And she’s done it again!! I am so captivated by the Adamsons... and the Monroes every time Nicole has a new book released I squeal a little bit, so excited about being taken on another journey with these complicated but amazing characters! I thought this book was one of Nicole’s best yet, I have always been in love with her writing, but with the Monroes, we actually saw them grow up and evolve as characters, the Adamsons haven’t been in KC for long, so to get each characters back story, they have to tell us themselves, Nicole has interpreted Gillian and Phillips backstories into this book in a way that makes you really connect with the characters, I absolutely LOVE Gillian, I think she is an amazing person to have overcome such heartache at a young age, and Phillip, well he’s just an Adamson, he is rough around the edges but when it matters he became the man he needed to be. I can’t wait to carry on this series and see where their relationship takes them
Phillip and Gillian are the focus of this book, but of course you get the rest of the Adamson family and some Monroe love too. Phillip is a hot race track star with a attitude for days and a love for hot women, a little family drama and some big feelings. Gillian is new to the area, she’s working with Brook and has one heck of a task of working her way through her enemy’s to lover relationship with Phillip. Phillip did something when he was 18. His father cleaned his mess up but has passed and now his mess is back and he’s got to do something about it and put his family squabble with his brother to rest and learn to grow up and be a man. Take care of his responsibility, learn to love and trust and give his heart. Each twist and turn will turn the page for you and each little banter will make you giggle or turn to the page to see what happens next. Dive in and ride the track of life with the Adamson family.
Nicole Dykes does it again with the Adamson's, I love how she mixes it up with both family's. This book tells us all about Phillip and Gillian. Phillip as you no comes from a mixed up family, and wont have a bad word said against Mitch his father, but we all no that he is following in his foot steps by been an arse there is no doubt about that, he loves to race and he sleeps around without any thought or consequence he really doesn't care, but is all that about to change. Gillian is a bit broken and a very much no nonsense sort of girl, and will not take any rubbish from no one. In this story it has some great twists and turns, you find out what happened when she was younger. It really does pull on your strings. Will Gillian tame Phillip or will it be the other way round. Lots of truths come out in this book is Phillip ready to hear, and step up to them or just brush them under the table and move on. Loved, Loved, Loved it.
Philip and Gillians story is such a great addition to the Adamsons' series. I've grown to love this dysfunctional family and all their complicated issues. Philip is a stubborn and complicated Race car driver with a troubled past. He's made some mistakes in his past that he has to over come.
Gillian is complicated and comes from a troubled past as well. You get to learn their back stories and their real characters really well in this installment.
This is the 3rd book in the Adamson series and can be read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend starting with book 1, so you can get the whole feel of these characters and their back stories. You also get some of characters from the Monroe's series as well.
Nicole Dykes did a great job on Misled, the book had a great plot, it was filled with emotions. The story was very well written. Phillip and Gillian were strong characters that have had some roughness, they had plenty of ups and downs in their lives. I thought together they healed each other in a way, made each other better. They were good for one another. Their attraction and connection was strong. I thought I thought Gillian and Phillip were great together. I enjoyed their story. This was a great story. I enjoyed it. Thank you, Nicole Dykes. Great work :)
Nicole how did you manage to make me fall in love with an Asshole ... Phillip is a grade A asshole but I now wanna call him mine .... l loved misled ... Gillian was surprisingly strong considering her past ... and Logan is a sweetheart and I can’t wait for his book although I’m thinking a few of Phillips asshole tendencies will rub off on him.... Nicole you’re amazing thank you for the privilege of being on you’re ARC team ... you rock 😍

I wasn’t sure I wanted to read about Philip Adamson but the author really made you want to right away. Philip has been the pretty party boy right after he races his heart out but something happens that stops him tight in his tracks. Gillian is a brand new social worker and Brooke Monroe is her boss and mentor but Gillian didn’t get into this career for no reason. This story has lots of surprises and some feels, but as always the author makes you feel like you are part of the family.
Another grand slam hit out of the park by this author. The author has such a way with these characters that you feel like you are part of the family. You get to see the layers of the characters; the brokenness, the bravado and after digging further, a person that just wants to trust, love and be loved. Phillip and Gillian are no exception. I really enjoyed seeing the story unfold and look forward to the next time I get to visit with the Adamsons.
Phillip is a cocky playboy racer, who does what and who he pleases. When a mistake from his past comes back in full force, Gillian is brought into his life. While Phillip tries to figure out his new normal, Gillian also is forced to face her past and learn to move on. This book is full of fantastic characters, and a sweet love story. I’d recommend this book.
This is book three in the Adamson family series and is Phillip and Gillian’s story. I have to admit that I didn’t like Phillip at first but by the end he’d won me over. Secrets are uncovered and I couldn’t help but fall more in love with this crazy bunch. It was great to not only catch up with the Adamson’s but to also get updates on the original family, the Monroe’s. Another great read!!
Phillip & Gillian are the perfect imperfect messed up couple.
This was of course another amazing work of art by Nicole! The way she makes you fall in love with all her characters & their stories is wonderful. She sucks you in within the first few pages, gives you some bumps along the way but then usually always gives you a happy ending. Can’t wait for more greatness from her!
Misled is Phillip and Gillian's story. As with the rest of this series, I really enjoyed this book. Phillip was a bit of an ass to start with but I ended up liking Phillip at the end. Gillian was a strong character which I loved.
I flipping love the Adamson's. Philip's story is just amazing. He totally stepped up as a father. And Gillian helped him grow up. They are the perfect couple. No one understood each other better than them and they fit together so perfectly.
It wasn't quite what I expected but I still loved it. Misled will take you on a journey. Even though the characters deal with some tough issues, Ms. Dykes approaches them with grace and class. Another great read by this author. I don't want this series to ever end.
This is the third book in the series. Phillip and Gillian's story. Their story was packed full of love, lust and I didn't see that coming moments. I loved catching up with everyone from previous books. This is a must read, get your copy today.
I groan at the intense feeling, somehow sensing this is an epic fuck-up, but not caring at the moment. What's the worst that could happen?
Famous last words...14 years later and it could come and kick you up the arse or rather kick your arse into gear...
"Logan is in trouble." My brow furrows, trying to figure out what he's talking about. "Who the hell is Logan?" "Your kid."
Following the recent revelation in the last Adamson story, we found out that Philip has a son! Back when Philip was just starting out as a rookie racer, a trailer bunny called Jana, was waiting in his trailer and well...one thing quickly led to another. Jana landed the bombshell on Philip that she was pregnant but claimed she didn't want a dime, Philip was out of his depth and turned his idol and father Mitch Adamson. Of course Mitch being Mitch knows that something like this could destroy Philip and ruin the Adamson name. So, Mitch quickly takes over the situation and with his controlive attitude both Jana and Philip fall into line with no questions asked-they would have fell on deaf ears anyway.
Well, fuck me, the Adamson attitude is strong in this kid
Now though, events have happened that bring "father and son" together for the first time since Logan was born, but it's hardly dinner at T.G.I Fridays's more like courtroom 2. It's time for Philip to step up and see if this Adamson can put aside his differences with his brother, because he's sure as hell gonna all the help he can get with this Jnr teen Adamson!
Chris finally sits down, and Amy grips my hand. "We'll help you." "Yeah." Leslie shrugs. "All of us together must equal at least one responsible adult, right?"
It really is a family affair in this story because who should our leading lady be? Well none other than Natalie younger sister Gillian! Carrying shadows of hardship childhood and false promises. Gillian wears a mask of professionalism to hide what's really behind her deep blue haunted eyes and she may be a tough cookie to crack.
"Guess we'll be seeing a lot each other." I shake his hand quickly and take my hand back, ignoring the electric shock I feel as we touch. "It seems that way."
So how does she come into it? Well, turns out Gillian is now a social worker and works for CPS in Kansas with Brooke...what are the chances of that? Logan Adamson just happens to be her first case? Does anyone else see a pattern forming here?
She's gorgeous, but so far away from easy I knew instantly nothing would happen between us. Easy is my comfort zone. Difficult is my nightmare.
Gillian & Philip, these two were a slow burn to form their relationship but it fitted in well with this story. Gillian has everything against her, a lot is resting on her shoulders to prove not only to herself that she can do a good job with her first case but to her idol Brooke Monroe. Gillian wants to help those kids who need can be saved...because no one was able to save her.
"I'm strong. I’ve been through things that would make even tough, arrogant men like you weep. Don't ever call me damaged."
It doesn't help that Philip Adamson is a good looking male, opening the door bare tattooed chest, with tousled morning hair and wearing that smirk with those devilish blue eyes- come on that would make any girl crumble a little.
"You will never give me pleasure, Philip." "Never say never, sweetheart."
Logan Adamson, even without the DNA test you already know he is all Adamson! The gene pool is also strong in this family and not to mention like father like son themes that come into play with this book. You do grow a soft spot for Logan, finding out more about him, his new relationship with his dad Philip and learning he can trust those around him. From his new family members, extended family of Monroes and maybe causing some trouble along to way, this teenager makes his mark in the series.
"How long has it been, Gillian?" "Why do you care?" My hand grips her wrists, pulling them up and pinning them against the wall. "Just tell me."
Will history be repeating itself with Gillian and Philip or this time will everything crash and burn before it even starts? Both some from strained family relations, have been let down before, personalities that clash together and yet they can't resist each other...
Making Gillian come has become my newest obsession over the last few weeks. Her moans get louder, and her back arches as her fingers dig into my scalp, her thighs gripping the side of my face. It never gets fucking old.
I love the Adamson family and I can't wait to meet the ladies...
Say what you want about the Adamsons, it's probably all true, but we are loyal motherfuckers.
Sometimes we perceive things from our past a certain way until we grow up and get a chance to see it for what it really is. These real life scenarios Nicole writes about are so relatable that you connect strongly with these characters and you almost forget it's not real. But yet it is. This series is amazing and a must read!
