Autumn Macarthur is an Australian writer of inspirational romance living near London with her very English husband and six spoiled cats. She loves reading, cooking, gardening, and writing deeply emotional stories to make you smile and remind you how big and wide and deep God's love and forgiveness can be.
She tends to talk a little too much, laugh a little too loud, and eat a little more than maybe she should. She's thankful to be blessed with some good friends and a very patient husband. Most of all, she's eternally grateful for God's great love and mercy.
When she's not writing or talking to her strawberry plants and cherry blossoms, she can be found blogging at www.faithhopeandheartwarming.com or on Substack.
She'd love to hear from you!

Book 1 - Believe In Me (4.4) This story is about a down-trodden London shop-girl and a glitzy, successful American soap-opera star. But wait, deep down, this story portrays two hurting people with bruised insides, but with visible demeanors that appear rock-solid. It is about how God works in each life to shine the unpolished and sculpt and prune the seeming successful to create a great couple/team for God’s plans and purposes. Cara Talbot works as an accountant, assistant manager at London’s struggling Pettett & Mayfield department store. In her off hours, she volunteers at a suicide helpline, as well as volunteering at a homeless shelter. Her fellow store employee’s speak of her as a workaholic, joyless Ms. Scrooge, and a human calculator. They do not know the inner grief, guilt, and sadness that drive Cara. We the reader are also in the dark well into the body of this story. We are unable to completely understanding Cara’s bleak life and situation, both past and present. Nicholas Gallagher, the hero of the story appears as the golden boy. The antithesis of Cara. He comes to London at the polite behest of his grandmother who has offered her famous Hollywood heartthrob grandson to Mrs. Pettett, department store owner. Mrs. Pettett has come up with another scheme to help out the financially struggling store. Nick is to become the department store Santa. Cara is to facilitate Nick’s time as Santa while he is helping the store. She does not want the job as Nick’s name and presence dig at her, reminding her of the mad crush she had on Nick as a teen. She would watch his movie, Joey Christmas repeatedly. But when everything in her life imploded during that fateful Christmas season, she associated Nick with her father’s betrayal and all things Christmas with hopelessness and a complete emotional time-waste. Nick has the reputation for being unattached, superficial, just a good-looking actor who has had things so easy. It was no surprise that Cara and Nick initially clashed. That’s the opening situation, but Nick comes up with a winning idea of dating a store employee for The 12 Days of Christmas. Nick is willing to take an employee on twelve dates with PR Photos and media hype, if Cara is the employee. She tries to squelch the idea, but Mrs. Pettett orders her to acquiesce. Nick is intrigued by Cara and eagerly arranges for PR photos to be taken on their dates. Once Cara sees the published photographs, she and Maggie, Nick’s friend use the photos to transform the store’s display windows, creating each of the twelve dates. His scheme is a success. Throughout the story we get hints that Nick also has issues. He feels he is a lightweight, a shallow actor who pretends his way through life. His pastor Dad is a serious and successful pastor, who has helped many, but Nick feels he can never reach the respected heights that his Dad has reached. He has also been accused, by his TV series girlfriend that he lacks the ability to commit. She informs him of his character flaw at the same time she announces her engagement to someone else. As Nick helps Cara, God works on her heart. God takes all the wealth of his godly heritage and Bible training to minister to Nick’s own heart and to help him reach Cara’s frozen, emotionless life. The last two chapters bring a very satisfying end to the story. Cara and Nick are restored and revived by the God of all truth and He helps them establish a true faith-based, God-honoring relationship. What I Liked about Book 1 of Together for Christmas: The characters were not perfect, although outward appearances would bely that fact. I loved the last one-third of the book the best. It showed Christian growth. I liked that Nick saw Cara as God’s wake up call for him, a call to leave the superficial and embrace God’s plan for his life. I loved Nick and his Dad’s heart-to-heart in Chapter 19, “You’re not only my son, you’re God’s son. I trust that He’d put you where He wanted you.” The dialogue in Chapter 18 was good. The relationship with Cara might disintegrate, but Nick’s focus is listening to Cara’s anguished recitation of her somber family history. He keeps silently, asking God for wisdom and for God to direct Cara. He leaves Cara thinking he has failed to clearly communicate to Cara’s need and that he failed because he is a “lightweight.” It was powerful to read how Cara reflects on the truth Nick conveyed, after he left (he was lucid in his communication). She finally sees clearly. Nick is an example of the verse listed in the preface, 1 John 3:18. The last chapters show how God works in a life. They were really some of the best parts of the book. What I Did Not Particularly Like: I was not “sold” on this book until I reach Chapter 6 and was fully engaged by Chapter 10 (rated the beginning around a 2.8). The beginning was just slow. Cara was not loveable or particularly likeable. Nick was introduced oddly and Cara’s reaction is that he is nothing but a DDG (drop dead gorgeous) person, which in London, she believes is a common commodity. She is not impressed. She doesn’t at first seem to recognize him. Nick was likeable from the start, but Cara’s character at the beginning had me quit reading frequently, because she was so caustic. I am not a fan of angst as a plot device. Conclusion: For me, the strength of this book was the last three or four chapters. I would say this book was a worthy read.
Book 2 - A Model Bride (3.4) Young Tiffany Gallagher (young sister to Nick Gallagher from Together at Christmas Book 1 & Book 1 of The Maclean Series) recently graduated and hopes of landing a position in the fashion industry. Her dreams is to prove herself to her family and to herself comes crashing down in Paris, but she still has dreams that something will happen as the family arrives to enjoy Christmas in London. She has repeated encounters with Mac (Colin Maclean), the wonder Scottish photojournalist from the first book in the Love In Store Series. Colin’s photography helped put Pettett and Mayfield department store back into the public’s view with his great photographs. In this story, Colin is unhappy with his life, which he feels unjustly forced on him. He has a wonderful nurturing family, his father is a Pastor, his siblings are supportive, but all recognize that Colin has rejected God; he also to some extent, rejects or wishes to avoid his loving family as well as Tiffany. Tiffany moves from a dreamer of dreams about being “great” in the fashion industry to a doer of “great” things for other people, being a part of God’s London mission field. Both characters move from being single-focused on their plans and agendas to being open to God’s plans for their lives. What I Liked: Autumn Macarthur is extremely good at bringing home strong Christian themes in her stories. Usually her characters have flaws that keep them from experiencing God’s best, but by the end of the story, they have allowed God to take control of their lives and look to navigate a course with God at the helm. What I Didn’t Find So Interesting: Tiffany seemed immature with tunnel vision at the beginning and through the first part of the book. Mac or Colin seemed like a positive character in “Believe in Me,” but was rather unlikeable for a good one-third of this story. At the beginning of the story, Tiffany and Colin’s relationship seemed solely anchored on physical attraction. There was constant obsessive drooling over the other in their thoughts. I also grew very tired of both leads denigrating themselves. Each character brought whining to an art form. They stubbornly refused to let God lead their lives up until the end of the story. I admire Autumn Macarthur’s writing, but based on “A Model Bride,” the Maclean series may not be my type of Macarthur book.
Book 3 - Calm and Bright (4.7) A summer courtship leads to a wedding and then small-town girl Maddie Calder is off to California to live the LA city life with her husband Brad. We are not apprised of all the California life experiences, but the dissolution of a marriage is revealed layer by layer. Soon Maddie is a stay-at-home LA mother, when her son is born. Maddie’s husband Brad Hughes is focused on earning a living as a hospital administrator. When Maddie’s Grandmother became ill, Maddie ran home to Huckleberry Lake, Idaho under the auspices of caring for her Grand. Maddie separated from Brad and then divorced. This story takes place at Christmas time. Maddie invites Brad to take his Christmas vacation in Idaho, so that her son can see his father, enjoy all the local communities Christmas activities, and Maddie can still be available to take care of her Grandmother. Maddie closely observes Brad and begins to see significant positive change in his behavior, when on Christmas Eve he gets a call from his boss to come back to LA if he wants his job promotion. This is not what Brad wants to do, but he feels compelled to hang-on to his job. He leaves, as Maddie was expecting all along. That appears to be the end of this family, but God-is-at-work. What I liked: I was surprised how much I liked this story. The fact that the story was about a dissolved family did not thrill me, but this story packs a punch. We see how God works in Brad’s heart, leading him to a God-centered church and to a pastor who could serve as a faithful mentor to Brad concerning God’s ways. We also see how God uses Maddie’s Grandmother and her broader community to work in Maddie’s hard and broken heart. I loved how we see God working on each heart, both Brad and Maddie. What seemed like a hopeless situation turns out to be a God-directed opening. When each person, both Brad and Maddie let go of their plans, God steps in. Powerful. The ending of this story was great. I liked this story and really cannot complain about any part of the story. I liked that I had low expectations for the story, but it proved me so very wrong! This was not just a Christmas story, but an anytime of the year story. Grab this book and enjoy.
Book 4 - His Healing Touch (3.8) This is a story of two wounded people; Lainie Sullivan is a nurse by profession who lost her mother to a debilitating disease and shortly after her father from another crushing health situation. She also lives under an angry veneer because of loss, the loss of her mother, father, and a faithless fiancé who jilted her. The story opens with her on a bike trip to raise money to help families taking care of cancer victims. In the middle of her bike tour, Lainie realizes her bike is not functioning properly. She needs to have it looked at, and recognizes she is close to Sweetapple Falls, a place she knows because she nursed an injured vet from Sweetapple. As things turn out, Adam Davis, her injured vet is the person she needs to look at her bike. Sparks fly, people work to push them together and God works to change an unhappy, angry, self-focused couple. My Response to the book: I like how Autumn Macarthur pulls together an ending to her stories. She takes flawed people and shines God’s truth into a life. She is really good at endings. Unlike some of her other books, this book didn’t “grab” me, I kept reading because I dislike leaving a book unfinished. These characters and their situation were less compelling to me than some of her other books. It was frustrating that the characters were constantly wallowing in self-pity and self-deprecation. This type of plot device just does not work for me. The story is well written, but for me, not a story I will re-read.
These stories are so heartwarming and touching, I adored each one so much.
I cannot get enough of Christmas stories that are from the heart, and love stories are the best ones! Autumn has a way of writing her characters that simply pulls you in and grabs you by the heart strings! One of the things I found out mostly when reading her novels, is where I am lacking in my own self reflection in my faith, and relationships with others. Ever time I read an Autumn Macarthur book I find myself a better person!
Together For Christmas by Autumn Macarthur is a delightful set of four of her books. All the stories are delightful with similar themes and revealing the heart of God. A Model Bride will also touch the reader's heart - prompting an examination of one's personal faith. As the Father's heart is revealed within the novel, the reader is journeying too - hopefully towards a deeper faith and trust in God. It can be read just for surface value, as the delightful story will leave the reader with a smile on their face and a warm fuzzy feeling in their heart. Or delve deeper, and strengthen your own personal faith in God. Calm And Bright has themes of second chances, choices, trust and faith in God. It is never too late to choose surrender to God. God can give us all new beginnings because of His grace. His Healing Touch has the main themes of love, loss and grief, as well as showing the devastating effects of both survivor’s guilt and losing a loved one to cancer can have on lives. Believe In Me is a wonderful novel. It highlights the importance of believing in God's promises - no matter what has happened in the past, God still loves you. No one is ever too far from God. All Autumn Macarthur’s stories fill the reader with hope and love as we not only enjoy getting to know the characters but we also get to glimpse the heart of God. I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
BELIEVE IN ME Cara hated Christmas, working in the heart of London shopping center A school girl crush on the grandson, Nick from school. Now Nick was talked into playing Santa at the store. He was an actor, his Faith was strong, and she treasured of how he showed that to her.. Now a card asking him to “believe in me”. A MODEL BRIDE Tiffany looking out a window at the Christmas decorate, and the s ow. Spending time in London, which she hadn’t in years. The disappointment in Paris, was still fresh. Colin having taken enough fashion photography, that Nick was correct about his sister, she was all for fashion. For him regrets he couldn’t save a child in a war zone and losing faith in God. Could she help bring healing in himself and his faith. CALM & BRIGHT Maddie and Brad, the sparks still there, this Christmas was for him to come and be with his son, nothing more though he asked as soon as he got there. She had stopped trusting God and what his plan was, could she be wrong. HIS HEALING TOUCH A nurse for the many wounded warriors, and a love to ride her vintage bike. Stopping to be sure her bike was okay, and noticed another vintage bike collecting dust, hadn’t been riven in a long time and belong to his cousin , could that have been the same man as her last patient. It was Adam, the one who lost hope. Beautiful stories of finding faith, and Gods plan for their lives. Finding a special person to love in God’s plan. All were heart warming stories.
These four books are very inspirational. The characters in each of the books are special people. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next in these books. I had the honor to review this box set for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
Each one of these stories will warm your heart. Well written. I thoroughly enjoyed them. I received an advance reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
Believe in Me Cara Talbot is a manager of a department store and is concerned about the jobs of her workers. Hollywood golden boy Nick is seemingly only concerned about his reputation, but he dares Cara to go on dates to show her the magic of London at Christmas. An uplifting story about seeing things from a different perspective and growth in a relationship. Well worth reading. A Model Bride Tiffany Gallagher spends the holidays in London and meets Mac wounded photojournalist at a homeless shelter. He takes her to Scotland to experience a real Scottish New Year’s Hogmanay celebration. He uses his camera to get her a modeling job and she sees beyond the broken man. An uplifting story of love and healing. Marry Me What a wonderful story! Autumn did a great job writing this book. It really makes you think about your life situation. Melanie tried to handle her problems on her own and finally realizes she needs to trust God alone. I enjoyed the plot and the way she developed it. His Healing Touch After Lainie Sullivan’s father died, she took up his dream to travel by motorcycle to every state to raise funds for the charity in her mother’s memory. When her motorcycle breaks down in Sweetapple Falls, she discovers her former patient and former Army medic, Adam Davis who is discouraged after having his leg amputated. Working on her motorcycle and interacting with Lainie turns his attitude around. An uplifting story about loss, grief, and moving on with the help of God.
This collection contains stories related to Christmas and some of the thoughts and emotions that the holiday may bring forth due to past experiences. All the stories have one or more characters dealing with some strong and complex emotions. Their situations are all very real and relatable, as few of us get a perfectly smooth life. The stories also point out the benefit of sharing those experiences and feelings as that is the way to gain a more complete perspective on the hows and whys. When one has survived a deep emotional experience, we all tend to look at it from the "me" angle, but it is much harder to see the whole picture and how others are affected. The author treats the varying issues with the respect and compassion they deserve without becoming maudlin. As perspectives change, everyone gets a HEA without Pollyanna type solutions. I found the book very enjoyable even as I shed a tear or two over some of the situations.
The first novel was light, even predictable, but warm. It dealt with guilt and unworthiness. Two themes, “grief is the price of love” and “God is there, with you, through it all.” flows through all four books. The second book was related to the first and dealt with some deeper issues, how do you prove you are more than your appearance, and how do you give up your dreams when life doesn’t cooperate. Third book, oh, this one got to me, a widow with a desperately ill child, wants to create a great Christmas for her, while struggling to believe that God is good or even listens. Fourth book, self pity and an addiction to rescuing almost cause two people to miss out on love. Gotta say, although they are light reading, and a little optimistic, the spiritual stuff hit home. I got more than I paid for.
Wow oh Wow! This collection of books has been a joy to read. From the first cute and funny story - Believe in Me To the very last story - His Healing Touch And the other two - A Model Bride and Calm and Bright - in between, I have loved every one! Each one has a wonderful life lesson for us to read and sweet moments to remember. Autumn Macarthur is a very skilled author and I look forward to reading many more of her books! If you want endearing stories all in one place and a little bit of Christmas with snow, then this is the set for you! I received this book set from the author, for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
We need to call a wambulance... Seriously. I've never read so much self pity in any other book. I slogged through the entire first book gagging. I don't know how many DOZENS of time both characters reminded themselves the 'he' is going back home, across the sea, in 3 weeks, in 2 weeks, in 1 week, in a few days... Only to forget her & break her heart... How many times need it be said? I know that I have good short term memory & I assume that most other readers do also... Why the incessant repetition? I'm done with this author.
First, these are inspirational romances, heavy on the God part.
The first two books are from the same series. Several characters cross between both stories.
The third book is hard, but worth reading. Deals with a child with cancer.
Last book is a daughter raising money for her dead Mom's charity, after her father also dies from cancer. The male MC is a fair recent amputee learning how to do more than survive... He's learning to thrive.
They're worth reading, as long as you are aware of the heavy God talk...
Four wonderful and inspiring stories about faith, love, friendship and God and how Him can help us to overcome our fears, insecurities and really enjoy our life bringing us happiness. You will love Nick and car from Believe in me, Tiffany and Nick from A model bride, Brad and Maddie from Calm and bright and Lainie and Adam from The healing touch. A must read specially in Christmas’s time when everything is magical.
I love every single one of these stories. All are so sweet. The Christmas references are such that they play a part of the story, but don't have to be read during the holiday season to feel right. The struggles the characters face are some we all have to deal with. And the kisses give you butterflies, no mistletoe required. I received a copy of this for free, but the opinions expressed here are my own.
I enjoyed this story because it was so real. Learning to cope after losing a leg - having to start life over has caused many of our wounded soldiers to give up. Many have turned to suicide and/or addiction to drugs. This story shows that with God they can find the strength and courage to face the challenges life brings and come out the victor. Well worth the read. Plus a sweet love story.
Love falls from one side of the ocean to the other.
Enjoyed being with this author again. My favorites in this set of books. Were A Model Bride and His Healing Touch. Enjoyed that they were about war vets and their struggles and also how they found love. Marry Me was sweet too. It took a bit for me to get into Believe in me but it was a good book too. Looking forward to the rest in the series.
These are great, inspirational stories as people learn to have faith & follow their designed purpose. As a motorcycle rider, the last story is very accurate. We began our journey with an '84 Honda goldwing bought in Texas, then a new '98. A great way to travel cross-country.
Each book is about a different couple and about how they fell in love for the first time and again and the obstacles they had to overcome. These are such sweet romantic reads but so real to life. My favorite is probably His Healing Love about Laine and Adam. They are both hurting souls who come together and help each other seek the Lord and heal together. A great set.
I liked the first one but felt it got a bit preachy at the end. I enjoyed the second one a little less as the preaching was ramped up! By the third was it was way too in your face preaching for me and I couldn’t even bring myself to read the last one which is too bad because I remember a Honda Nighthawk that we owned.
Wonderful, relatable characters that experience doubts and stresses as we all do. Their journeys of God's leading shed His light and words into my own life. Thank you Autumn macarthur, i will be looking for more of your books.
Autumn brings four heartwarming stories in her unique style of loveable characters and storylines that are just off the beaten paths. Whether it is a NewYear's celebration in Schotland or a main character who is an amputee, these stories will draw you in straight away.
I enjoyed this collection of books but I found the first two were quite drawn out. The third I was irritated by the constant use of “kiddo” but maybe that’s just me. The last book I almost felt was too short and I didn’t feel the time span was long enough for such dramatic changes of heart. But I did enjoy reading them, despite these reservations.
Each one of these books were an excellent read. They were sweet romantic and had a pleasing story. I loved watching the love develop between each of the characters and though each is a standalone book the characters are all related. It was impossible not to root for each of them Nick, Cara, Mac and so many more. I highly recommend putting this set on the top of your reading list.
I'm still sobbing. This was such a real, heartfelt, touching, give and take, push and pull story of love. Mac and Tiff meet, two unlikely souls, each searching for the unreachable, yet trying so hard to deny their feelings for each other. Hard to put down. A must read for those who feel like they don't know God's purpose for their lives.
Wonderful uplifting collection of stories. Learning to listen to God's plan for your life. Even when you think you have it all figured out. Each couple have to overcome something in their lives to find and recognize true love.
I loved each of these books. His Healing touch was my favorite. Each story was different but all included love. Autumn Macarthur has a special touch when writing her stories. I am never disappointed
What a joy and an inspiration to read these four marvelous books. It has been a blessing to have read each one. I have related to many things I've read. Thank you!
This was my first time reading this author & I loved this collection. Fun characters, interesting plots, clean &romantic. Really enjoyed reading these books!
