I like this one about the same as the last one. This one’s story was more boring while incorporating the generational trauma and grieving that comes along with it of the war, which I appreciated.

This volume was the introduction of the New Guard of characters, Kohibari's and Matsukaze's sons and Mikuni, all grown up. They're supposed to bring in what the trauma of the centaurs looks like along with the forgiveness that comes with it. This however, requires time, and the time jumps in here don't facilitate this necessity. For example, at the beginning of this volume, we're told that the war is over and people and centaurs are becoming friends. Since when? This fast? The whole idea of forgiveness felt so rushed. The war ended like MONTHS ago; there are war orphans still alive; there are centaurs still living with their arms cut off. It just felt too fast for me. And Tanikaze? He stupefied me with his want to see humans. What do you mean you ant to see humans so badly? Your dad, whom you knew and lived with, had his ARMS CUT OFF, and was used as a sex slave. I tried to understand Tanikaze, but was also irritated by how the characters seemingly brushed off Gonta's reasonable wariness and fear of humans. The whole volume felt rushed to where the time duration of the story barely made sense to me. I understand and agree with forgiveness, and appreciate the effort of this volume to portray it, but you have to give them time to forgive.

I just liked Matsukaze, Kohibari, and even Hayame more. The new guard of characters just falls a little flat for me. I don't think I'll continue with the series.

It's a decent story so far but there is an awkward moment or two in this one... That said if my library had some of the remaining volumes currently out, I would have continued, but since I'm not entirely sure if this is a series I want to own... I guess I will currently have to put this series on a break for now.

this story feels so fast but i enjoyed this volume! i really liked getting to know gonta, tanikaze, & mikuni now that they're older and exploring their relationship dynamics & the bonus story at the end was so cute

Ce troisième tome et celui que j'aime beaucoup pour le moment. Voir Gonta adulte avec une peur des humains et l'innocence de Tanikaze ensemble donne une bonne histoire

A continuing time skip brings us to a future where centaurs are no longer at war, but those who remember the days they had to live in fear and hiding struggle to adapt.
