I originally bought this book for my youngest sister, but i ended up reading it too. And honestly, I ended up learning quite a few things
For one, it wasn’t actually the prince who woke Sleeping Beauty; the hundred years simply ended right as he arrived. Geppetto, it turns out, met a talking piece of wood before carving Pinocchio. The Gingerbread Man’s cleverness didn’t last long either—he was outsmarted (and eaten) by a fox.
I also discovered the fascinating origin of Puss in Boots, learned that there were two genies—one trapped in a lamp and another in a ring—and found out that the original Chicken Little story is nothing like the movie version.
All in all, it was a delightful read—both nostalgic and surprisingly informative

I started to read this book to my daughter when she was between 3.5 to 4.5 years old. She loved all of the stories and fables. There are images on pretty much every page and they are both colorful and attractive. Some of the language is a little elevated but my daughter picked up the new vocab with context or I'd replace a word reading if I didn't feel like explaining at the moment. Each story is 4-8 pages long. The fairytales are pretty true to the originals so I appreciate the real versions of Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty. I'm afraid The Little Mermaid gets the Disney treatment in the end but I explained to my daughter what happened in the original. Death rarely occurs but my daughter took everything well and wasn't upset or disturbed by a bad ending. I would highly recommend this version of fairytales and fables for little children.
I loved all the 52 different stories, many of them were even new to me. They were short enough to go through 2-3 every night with my daughter before bed. Love that a lot of stories were included in this beautiful anthology, made it easier than buying/ finding new books often.
