A heat wave but no A/C. Your ex dating your nemesis. A murdered juror. Ah, summer in Devil Springs…

Bain Circuit Court Clerk Greer Galloway had never worked with another judge. But all that changes when Special Judge Reed Shelton gets appointed to handle a local notorious criminal case. Delaney Carlisle, the newly-appointed prosecutor, and Rex Roberts, defense counsel constantly argue. And Judge Shelton and Rex seem to hate each other and do little to hide it.

Then bad things come in threes, as the old superstition goes. The A/C goes down in the middle of a heat wave, Greer learns her ex is dating Delaney, and a problem juror, Tobias Madden, goes missing.

Soon a body washes up at a bridge where two jury views of the crime scene took place. And with plenty of enemies—an ex-wife, a former business partner, and even his own mother—Tobias’s death becomes a murder investigation.

When another body turns up, Greer fears that both deaths are connected to the murder case. But she has little to go on but instinct. And that may not be enough to keep her alive long enough to discover the killer.

A Devilish Deceit is the third book in the Devil Springs Cozy Mysteries Series. Coming in winter 2019.

Trouble is on the docket and no one is exempt. A Devilish Deceit is full of backstabbing, intrigue and drama. Greer finds herself entangled in a battle of exes, colleagues and matching wits with a killer. It's anybody's guess what will happen next. Bramseth is always thinking up new ways to captivate readers. She succeeded perfectly with this smartly written thriller.

A Devilish Deceit by Jennifer Bramseth
Devil Springs #3

Oh...I do enjoy this Cozy Mystery series! Why? It is so much better than most of the sillier variety that I have run across because it has an intelligent woman doing a job she is capable of using her mind to solve murders that just happen to occur in her neighborhood. AND the murders are not contrived but believable as is the way she goes about solving them. I love the way the various series this author sometimes intertwine with characters showing up here and there. I am so glad I found this author and look forward to reading her books as soon as they come out.

In this book there is definitely a mystery and who the murderous person is and why remains elusive till the end. Greer has settled into her job but has days she wonders if she would rather be arguing cases than keeping records. She also has limited time for romance and that causes problems from time to time. Anyway...really do like this author and the books she writes and highly recommend all of her books to anyone who likes a bit of the legal with their stories...and in some...some bourbon, too.

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I always love taking a visit to Devil Springs and catching up with some of my favorite characters! In this installment, Greer is settling in to her job as Bain County Circuit Court Clerk! We find them in the middle of a murder trial. Trouble always seems to find Greer when her curiosity takes over! I love finding out what kinda shenanigans Greer gets herself into and seeing which Bourbonland friends will make cameos! I love reading the Bourbonland series, but I’m enjoying reading the Devil’s Springs mysteries just as much!

Another great book!! Ms. Bramseth’s books are great and unique in the fact that you learn a lot of the legal system. This series a slight departure from this author’s other books in the fact that they are cozy mysteries. I like how there are cameo appearances from some of the characters of Bourbonland and Bourbon Springs series. This book deals with Greer as the newly elected Circut Court Clerk (actually, I believe it is about 2 years after her election). She has a major case going in addition to her million other things she is responsible for, in short, her plate is full. This book has it all, crime, mystery, and a bit of love. Do yourself a favor and read this book.....but read all the others first - it makes the characters so much more alive.

I had the honor and opportunity to read an advance copy of this book for an honest opinion and review.

Oh, the things that happen in Devil Springs! Greer Galloway, the circuit court clerk, seems to always find herself right in the middle of whatever is brewing in the town. This is another exciting mystery that will keep you on your toes trying to figure out who the bad guy is. A Devilish Deceit is the 3rd book in the Devil Springs cozy mysteries series and I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning, so you don't miss out on all the mysteries that have occurred and been solved in Devil Springs. I truly appreciate the ARC and look forward to seeing what the future holds for both Greer and the residents of Devil Springs.

The Devil Springs Cozy mysteries are fun to experience. The characters involved, the layers to the mysteries, the crazy things that happen, keep me guessing every time. Greer always seems to find herself in the wrong place at the wrong time but then somehow manages to get out of these crazy situations. With each story, I always feel like I’m right in the middle of the action and the characters could be the people I encounter every day. I don’t want to give away any of the mystery, just know that you are in for an exciting and unexpected ride as the story unfolds. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

For readers who love cozy mysteries, book number three in the Devil Springs Series cannot be overlooked! The story is written in this author's own unique style which contains lots of drama, excitement and always a bit of romance inside the judicial system. This story is a primary example of the corruption which can result when even the most admired and highly-respected people become overcome by greed. In my opinion, an important lesson from this story is that it is always wise to be cautious in whom we place our trust! I received this book as an ARC from the author, and I am voluntarily submitting this review.

The bodies are dropping in Devil Springs. Greer is once again in the thick of the danger. The author takes us on another ride as we try to solve the mystery and try to stop a killer. The folks of Devil Springs are battling nature and man made disasters. Things should be idyllic in this small town but something always seems to go wrong. You will enjoy the whimsy, wit, twists and turns all the way to the very end.

If you like secrets, intrigue, suspense and subterfuge, then this books for you. And several characters fit into all those categories. Greer, as the Bain County Circuit Court Clerk, not only had a trial to contend with but unfortunate mysterious incidents started happening connected to the trial and connected to Greer. I highly recommend this book and this series.

This series is just so smart! I love it - it makes you think, but it's not so intellectual that you can't follow or makes you feel dumb. My romantic heart gets just enough relationship stuff to keep me interested, but romance is not the main plot of the series. Greer leads such an eventful life - even as the nobody she thinks she is. Her story has been nothing short of addicting

I like Jennifer Bramseth’s books because they make me want to live in a small Kentucky town and sip bourbon. I didn’t love this one as much as her other cozy mysteries but I still recommend this as a nice way to unwind after a long day.

The days are hot and long and the air conditioning is not working at the Bain County Courthouse and Greer Galloway is trying to keep her sanity through a criminal case. The case would not be that complicated but the defense attorney, judge, and a reluctant juror pose more than the usual problems. Add in two murders in two weeks, bribery, kidnapping, and Greer is further involved in the mystery of the cases. Thankfully, Greer solves the cases without any personal injuries and manages to come out on top again!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book provided by the author in exchange for a fair, objective, and honest review.
