An avid reader since I could actually read, I’ve never really been into reading poetry and short stories/ essays. So it unfortunately sat on my shelf for a couple months before reading. I took a trip to Vegas and decided to read this on my 4 hour flight.

I was too disappointed...

That it took me so long to read it. It was amazing. I felt like after the first page, she invited me to sit as she told her story. It was that intimate, open and telling. I write down so many quotable to love by. My favorite was
“Curse me out of you must
But remember
I am a hurricane
You are a meteorologist
Meaning the only time you’ll ever be radical is when you chase me”
Felt that in my soul, ok?!

Although I haven’t experienced a lot of the things she speaks about, her writing is so inviting, you feel like you have lived in that moment of whatever story she was telling.

This book was my “ For colored girls...”.
Already on my second read to see what I missed
