At 672, Jon Foster is one of the oldest people alive. He has seen oceans rise and fall, entire worlds obliterated, and a love so deep that it changed everything—but he has never seen this. The stars at the edge of human colonization are disappearing and no one knows how to stop it. Not only that, but another mysterious and ageless individual is driven to control everything that society has strived so hard to build. Desperate, Jon sets out to find the one person who can challenge his enemies and who might just hold the secret to the lost stars. Saiph Calthari has no clue that the most influential people alive are looking for him. He doesn't even know that his home is one of many planets, or that what he thinks of as magic is technology. If he ever wants to escape slavery and see his family again, he must seize the energy within him and save the planet he loves. Lost Stars is a science fiction novel that considers how the longevity of one family changed the course of humanity forever. As the story progresses, moving back and forth in time, the surprising connection between now and then is revealed, showing how the present is truly a sum of the past.
This is a good book to read on those slow evenings at home in front of the fireplace. A few gaps in the story line but nothing major. There are of course some characters line left unresolved but I'm sure continue in book two which I will read.
Lost Stars is a gripping science fiction tale centered on the future of humanity caught in conflict that is ageless. One of the most striking features of this novel is the attention to detail. The different worlds are distinct and lush, the perfect backdrop to complement the characters whose stories we are pulled into. Without ever a lull, the pacing of the novel is very well calculated, from introducing you to new worlds, leading you through critical back stories, and racing into the action-packed climax. You will surprise yourself with how much you care for each of the characters; finding yourself torn by their conflicts, and cheering for their successes. In short, this book is an endearing page-turner that's a thrilling ride through the stars.
This book has got it all! Adventure, discovery, growth, love, loss, heartbreak, and a creative universe and grounded characters to take you on a thrilling ride. While there were a few loose ends and connections between characters that didn’t totally solidify, this page turner has me ready for the next installment.
the author creates a world full of fascinating technology some I've never seen before, and I read a lot of sci Fi. there are moments were it gets a little clumsy with a character but I loved reading both books in this series. I'm hooked and hopefully we get the 3rd installment soon.
Truly a page turner! The book sucks you into a different world and keeps you there until your wife tells you to turn off your kindle and go to bed. You get into the book right away, no reading 1/3 of it waiting for something to happen. However, the time is still taken to develop the characters throughout the book. Great book for people who enjoy reading and science fiction! I also think this book could fit into the young adult category.
