A quick afternoon read.

Jackson the handsome treasure hunter (or just a fancy word for pirate) and the beautiful Charlie the map collector. A world apart after they broke up 9 month ago.

Jackson was on a hunt with his teammates in Prague and discovered he needed the Atlas he gave Charlie for her birthday last year. Unfortunately he wasn't the only one who knew about it, so his rival team showed up too.

This book advertised as a beginning of a romance series, but there was little to no romance in here. Some sex scenes isn't quit what I call romance. It was more an adventures treasure hunt in 2 different ways..

Was like watching the tourtis and the hare

Started out really slow. Then a wee sprint with Nash's men after Charlie. Then really slow. The epilogue was more of a glimpse of what's next in the treasure hunt. Charlie and Jackson end on a good note. If you're looking for an action romance, this is a wee bit slow. If you're looking for a a happy ever after, this isn't it. Overall quality of writing was ok. No cheating

I was given this ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say? Ember Casey has a way of making you fall for the leading man.

Jackson had walked away from Charlotte (Charlie) 9 months ago, leaving her only a note to say goodbye. Charlie was finally coming to terms with the fact that she was going to lead a dull & boring life until Jackson appears at her door late one night. Jackson is a hot, sexy treasure hunter and before she knows it, Charlie is headed to Croatia on an adventure that she has only dreamed about.

This novella is only the beginning of The Devil's Set. Come join these swashbucklers as they take you on a treasure hunt of a lifetime.

Want an exciting, sexy, swashbuckling adventure on the high seas? Well, this is the book for you! I just loved this story. It's something different, modern day treasure hunters trying to figure out the secrets of an old atlas and finding trouble on the way. There is intrigue, fist to cuffs, chasing and being chased by bad guys and plenty of sexy times to be had. Even though this is a novella, the story packs a punch and I can't wait for the next book in this new series! Fabulous read!

Oh and Croatia, did I mention most of the story takes place in Croatia? Yea! Read it people!

Charlotte had just about enough her mom had died leaving bills to be paid, her job was driving her to boredom and to top it all off she was still missing the man who left her without any real explanation. Then all out of the blue he's on her doorstep. Jackson had turned treasure hunter and didn't think it was fair to her a girl wait for him but he couldn't get Charlotte out of his head. Brilliant story with romance, action and a little adventure to keep you griped as you read.

Claiming His Treasure (The Devil's Set, #1) by Ember Casey.
This is the first book in a series. There are 10 people in the "Devils's Set", a treasure hunting outfit and one of them is maybe selling information to the competition. This the story about Jackson and Charlotte second chance at "love", playing out against the back drop of the action and adventure of treasure hunting.

This book was free on amazon.com and the premise sounded interesting. Most of the reviewers on amazon.com gave it 4 or 5 stars, for me this story missed the mark. It is part action and adventure story and part adult romance story, and for me neither of them worked.
I never felt the chemistry of a great love story between Jackson and Charlotte. There was lust and desire and sex. This one stood out for me as "really this is suppose to be romantic": Jackson and his team mate Leo have 1 job to do, guard the boat and be on the look out for the baddies who are trying to steal the item they have on the table in plain view on said boat. Jackson decides this would be a good time to have sex with Charlotte on the boat in a tiny bunk bed, with his team mate on the other end of the boat. This is the first time after Jackson left her and broke her heart and this "romantic gesture", will make things right with the 2 love birds. In the middle of this sexual encounter, which is described in detail, his team mate Leo is shot by the baddies. Charlotte finds out from the shot team mate Leo that he overheard the whole sexual encounter because yeah, they were on a boat and the walls are paper thin. After this ordeal, Charlotte decides to leave the boat and then we have the two of them doing some hunting for clues and finding part of the treasure and some more clues. There is a fight with the baddies, some I love you, you are the love of my life and Charlotte decides to join Jackson in this treasure hunting life style. Happy Ever After.
For me this book was meh, lucky I got this for free. 2 stars an OK read.

Let's start with the ending, shall we? I didn't like it at all! Why??? Well, because it ended!

This adventurous read was so much fun! Loaded with love, the unexpected and discoveries both good and bad. Ember Casey packed so much into Claiming His Treasure that at times you need to come up for air to digest it all.

I sure hope we can follow Charlie/Charlotte and Jackson into future adventures and see what this novice treasure hunter will bring to The Devil's Set!

Pretty good

Nine months ago, Jackson up and left Charlotte with only a note. Now he shows up at her door wanting the atlas he gifted her. Jackson is part of a treasure hunting group called the Set. Charlie has worked for an insurance company for years and now some guys that are following Jackson show up at her house. Between hunting for the treasure and fighting his feelings for Charlie, Jackson has to keep Charlie safe from the other guys.
CLIFFHANGER. Action. Sex. Short story. The first in a new series.

One day Jackson shows up at Charlotte's house. He is her ex-boyfriend, and asks for her to give back his best gift to her; a book with maps. She decides he can have it, if he'll take her with him on his next adventure/job as a treasure hunter.

Is the relationship between 'Charlie' and Jackson the example of a healthy one? You know it's not. Is it fun? Yes. A nice mixture of mystery, action and romance to keep you entertained for a while.

I felt the story from the outset had REAL potential, and was massively disappointed. This whole story beginning to end fell completely flat.
The whole time I found myself annoyed by Charlie and her wishy-washy indecision and by Jackson and his “must protect her but can’t let her go” mentality.

It was boring and 2-dimensional and shallow.

Surprisingly entertaining

Romance, action and a well paced plot made me wish I was the treasure. With such a delicious male to find me I could be persuaded into the dangerous world our female lead gets dragged into. Very entertaining.

Romance

This book was good as far as it went. To me it was just an introduction to a series. I don't like cliff hangers and they don't induce me want to get the next in a series. Maybe I'll read the next one but then maybe not.

AN AWESOME READ!!! I COULDN'T PUT THIS ONE DOWN. I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY THE REST OF THE SERIES.

Jackson North and his teammates were treasure Hunters. They were currently in Prague, Czeck Republic celebrating their haul. Not all the men were at the bar and that didn't settle very well with Jackson. He decided to go find out where the others were. When he got to the house where they were staying, the front door was wide open and the proprietor was unconscious on the floor. He heard a noise on the next floor up and went to investigate. Two men came bounding down the stairs toward him, shoving him down. He got up and gave chase, but lost them. He knew they were Nash's men (another team of treasure hunter's, but they were out to kill to get the treasure)
A week later in Atlanta, Georgia, Charlotte "Charlie" Carver was pulling an all nighter for her job as an insurance agent. She had been yelled at by her boss for not doing her job well enough. It is midnight and she was making coffee when there was a knock at the door. It was Jackson. He was there asking for an atlas he had given to her a year before for her birthday.
She went to hand over the atlas, but Jackson told her to keep it, but to get out and get as far away as she could, not let anyone stop her or take it from her. The back door flew open. Jackson told her to run. Two men ran after her when she got to the street. She hid behind an air conditioner at a club center.
Jackson found Charlie. They were able to get to his car. The other men went back to their car and was watching her house. Since Jackson's car was the only one that started up, the bad guys came after Jackson's car until Jackson lost them. He then told her that he was part of a team of treasure hunters and told her the story of why he needed the atlas. He also told her that he suspected there was a mole on their team. Charlie persuades Jackson to take her with him.
They went to Split, Croatia. Leo, one of the teammates came to the airport and picked them up to take them to a boat. She met Toshi, Alexei, Xavier and Roth (the leader) of the team. She gave Roth the atlas. They sailed to Vis. Roth was to meet the only female on their team named Sloane. Toshi went swimming in the bay. Carlie decided she would like to swim too, so they stripped down to their underwear and dove in. Jackson was remembering everything about Charlie from nine months before and really wanted to make love to her, but Charlie finally remembered when Jackson left and backed away from him. Leo shouted above that there was trouble. They heard from Roth that Sloane didn't show up and couldn't be found Roth told Toshi and Xavier to stay in Vis and look for Sloane. They would sail to Hvar. When they arrived, Roth and Alexei went into the town to see what they could find. Leo, Jackson and Charlie stayed on the ship. Leo went to the end of the pier and found a woman selling grilled fish. He bought some for all to eat. In the meantime, Jackson and Charlie were talking and arguing. Charlie had enough and went below to go lay down in the bunk, but she saw the atlas and the journals lying on the table. She began to look through each. Then in the back of the atlas she noticed the material was different. She found a pocket that had been glued. She opened the pocket and found coordinates. She couldn't find a scrap of paper, so she wrote them on her arm.
Jackson came below deck and they began to talk. They were very close to the bunk. They were about to make love when a gunshot was fired above. Roth and Alexei came back to the ship, He decided to drop Charlie and Jackson off at Hvar. Charlie would find her way back to Split and Jackson was going after the man that shot Leo. The ship was going to sail back to Split where the crew would meet up and regroup with a new strategy.
On the island Jackson and Charlie followed the coordinates and Charlie found a tree with a star carved into it. In the meantime, Jackson was fending off two goons. Charlie helped by knocking one out with a bottle she had found in the cubby of the tree.
Inside the bottle were 10 rolled up scrolls. The one large one held a diamond necklace worth millions. The other nine were riddles of where the rest of the treasure is. They met up with the others in Split. She showed Roth what they found. Each member now had a piece of the scrolls and riddles. Sloane was still missing. Tav was still thought of as being the betrayer.
Personally, I think the betrayer is Roth. He seems too cool, calm and collected. He is not really worried about the missing teammate. It seems like he is trying to get Jackson off the team.
What an enjoyable read. I couldn't put the book down. If I could have started it earlier, I would have finished it in one day.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review!!!

Jackson knew he had to see Charlotte again if he was to have any chance of completing their latest mission. Will the feelings he tried to bury resurface? Will Charlotte co-operate? Or will she give Jackson an ultimatum?

Holy amazeballs; Ember Casey rocked Jacksons story. This is not your average romance; this is a romance full of action, anticipation and thrill. As much as I loved the romance between Jackson and Charlotte the thrill of the treasure hunting truly got my heart racing. The attention to detail that Ember Casey used, truly made you feel like you were living the adventure right along with them. I loved the backbone that Charlotte found and her dream for adventure; it was clear how strong her feelings were for Jackson even though they had been apart for so long. Jackson was a determined man who wouldn’t let anything stand in his way; you could really feel the passion he had for Charlotte. Ember Casey has left me in need, a need of wanting so much more. I can’t wait for Leo’s story as this action packed Treasure Hunt continues.

Looking for an adventure romance that will get your heart racing? Then you seriously need to read Jackson by Ember Casey.

**An ARC in exchange for an honest review**

I really enjoyed this book! Jackson was very sweet, sexy, and swoon worthy and I can't wait until I meet him in real life! Charlotte on the other hand developed really well as a character within such a short time. I could connect to her in the beginning and I really loved how she accepted and embraced her fate in the end by making it her own. The story was great, and I loved their adventure just as much as they did. I wish I was the one on it! I can't wait for the rest of the series!
