The bestselling suspense author shows her softer side in this endearing love story of two searching hearts. . . .
Georgia Enright has dedicated her life to dance. But at age twenty-six, her hopes of becoming a lead dancer are dashed. So she ventures to Pumpkin Hill, an old farm owned by her newly found half sister, Laura Bishop, to contemplate her future. There, discovering an affinity for country life -- and a barn just perfect for giving dance lessons -- Georgia enjoys an oasis of peace . . . until Matthew Bishop arrives.
An abandoned child taken in by the same parents who adopted Laura, Matt has plans of his own for that barn -- plans that include a veterinary clinic, not a ballet studio! The only thing the rugged doctor resents more than Laura's interest in her birth family is his having to share the premises with one of them. Yet he can't deny there's something about Georgia that has brightened his world -- and if he's not careful, she just may dance into his heart.
Mariah Stewart is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of forty-one novels and three novellas and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal. She is a RITA finalist in romantic suspense and the recipient of the Award of Excellence for contemporary romance, a RIO Award for excellence in women's fiction, and a Reviewers Choice Award from Romantic Times Magazine. A three-time winner of the Golden Leaf Award presented by the New Jersey Romance Writers, Stewart was recently awarded their Lifetime Achievement Award (which placed her in their Hall of Fame along with former recipients Nora Roberts and Mary Jo Putney — very excellent company, indeed!)
After having written seven contemporary romance novels, Stewart found true happiness writing murder and mayhem. She considers herself one lucky son of a gun to have landed the best job in the world: getting paid for making up stories. At home. In sweats and J. Crew flip flops. Could life be sweeter?
Georgia Enright has always danced, but at 26, she's becoming aware that she'll never be at the top so she takes a leave of absence and goes to visit her newly discovered half-sister Laura. Laura rents Georgia their family farm much to her brother's distaste. Georgia feels at home and loves the farm, and starts teaching dance lessons to her niece. Meanwhile, Laura's brother Matthew also wants the farm to open a veterinary practice. Initially they clash, then are attracted. Laura's imprisoned preacher husband is causing trouble though, sending thugs to kill her when she shows signs of becoming interested in another. Delia, Mom, also finds love with an ocean treasure hunter/salvage operator. Appears to wrap up everyone's stories - probably the end of the series.
Georgia and Matthew 's story is one of my favorites. I really love them and the fact that he was afraid of losing his sister to her birth family and instead finding something else with the half sister of his adopted sister. It really connected them to each other and pushed his fears aside to fall ( sweetly) in love with Georgia. Just tied it all up with a big pretty bow.
Unfortunately this is the last of the Enright series. As with previous series this is about bring families together. A very intriguing novel full of surprises. Absolutely a must read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this last book in the series. The story line was excellent and kept me interested from start to finish. I hated for the series to end.
This is the last book in the Enright series. The two older Enright siblings have had their books. This time me meet the youngest of the siblings, Georgia. Actually we get two siblings for the price of one. We also get a much deeper look into the "newest" sibling. Georgia's oldest sister, Laura, who was taken from their mother and given up for adoption. And who has recently been found. Throws all kinds of kinks into the story.
Laura Bishop has lived a very happy, fulfilled life. She was adopted by loving parents, who also adopted her younger brother Matthew. Now she lives in a small coastal town and runs the family Inn with her young daughter.
Delia Enright, Laura's birth mother, tracked her down several months earlier. Now she is getting to know her new family, something her brother doesn't understand. Matt is afraid her new family is going to up and leave her when the new wears off. Matt wants nothing to do with anyone or anything named Enright.
Georgia has dreamed of dancing all her life. Now at the age of twenty six, she is just that. A professional ballet dancer. Not good enough to ever dance the lead, but still she's dancing. But she's no longer happy. So she takes a permanent leave from her dance troupe, and heads to her sister's Inn, for some rest and relaxation. And to figure out where she goes from here.
The minute Georgia sees Laura's family farm, Pumpkin Hill, she falls instantly in love with the place. She rents the farm, and takes well to country life. Growing vegetables, running the old tractor, planting new flowers. And even tending to her new pet. Spam, the pot bellied pig who shows up one morning rooting through the garden. She has also turned the upper part of the old barn into a make-shift dance studio.
The last thing Matt wants is one of the Enrights living on his family's farm and least of all moving into the barn he's had plans for. He wants to open up his own veterinary clinic in the old barn. But now he has Georgia to contend with. And the more time he spends with her the less he minds spending time with one of the Enrights.
This was a nice love story. It takes a while to get going. A bit slow in the beginning. But it picks up quickly. And by the end it's a bit of a roller coaster ride. Laura's past come back to haunt them and Georgia is making plans to move her new dance school into another location, away from Matt. It was a nice ending to the series.
Not a bad story for a romance. I much preferred Mariah Stewart's newer novels like "Dead Certain", "Dead Even" etc.
From back cover:
"Georgia Enright has dedicated her life to dance. But at age twenty-six, her dreams of becoming a lead dancer are fleeting. Having missed college and the sweet moments of ordinary life, she ventures to Pumpkin Hill, an old farm owned by her newly found half-sister, Laura Bishop, to contemplate her future. There, discovering an affinity for the simple pleasures of country life and a barn just perfect for giving dance lessons, Georgia enjoys an oasis of peace...until Matthew Bishop shows up.
An abandoned child taken in by the same loving parents who had adopted Laura, Matt Bishop has plans of his own for that empty old barn at Pumpkin Hill-plans that include a veterinary clinic, not a ballet studio! The only thing the rugged doctor resents more than Laura's interest in her birth family, the Enrights, is having to share the premises with one. Yet despite himself, he can't deny there's something special about the graceful, blond Enright who has brightened his world-and if he's not careful, she just may find a way to dance into his heart."
This was a pleasant read but not a page turner. It was a bit long as well, 513 pages. It was a nice tale of Georgia finding herself, learning how to farm and finding there is a life beyond dance. I never figured out where her income came from though. I'm sure it wasn't the rent for her condo as stated several times because wouldn't her condo have a mortgage on it? Spam was the best part of this story. The fact that everyone just happens to find someone at the same time and fall in love was a bit hokie and implausible. Delia just happens to connect with Gordon. Laura just happens to connect with Tucker. Georgia just happens to connect with Matt. Jody just happens to connect with Jeremy. The big happy family got to be a little too much as well. The story dated itself in the first chapter when it mentions the World Trade Center with regards to Georgia's daily run. I also didn't care for the tea leaf reading.
For years Georgia Enright worked to fulfill her dream of becoming a ballet dancer. But at age 26, she realized that she would never make the top spot of lead dancer. Thus she makes the decision to re-evaluate her life by taking time off to stay at an old farm, Pumpkin Hill, owned by her recently found half-sister, Laura, and Laura's adopted brother, Matt. Soon country life and romantic sparks energize Georgia to plan her own ballet studio.
Once again Ms. Stewart has served up a warm, comfort book. The spring breezes are light in the Maryland countryside and the people you meet are ones you would like to have in your life. A nice story of romance, new paths in life, family relationships and a touch of mystery enfold the reader to the end of the book.
Georgia Enright's life is dance. When her hopes of becoming a lead dancer are dashed she retreats to her half sister Laura's farm, Pumpkin Hill. Discovering a love of country life--- and a barn just perfect for giving dance lessons--- Georgia enjoys a glorious atmosphere of peace until Matthew Bishop arrives.
Matt has plans of his own for that barn -- plans that include a veterinary clinic, not a ballet studio! Complications? You bet! Georgia has brightened his world and may conquer his heart!
After reading one of Mariah Stewart's books I ordered all three of her new series - Devlins Delight, Wonderful You and Moon Dance. These three stories were delightful. I enjoyed all three books immensely. I will continue reading books by Mariah Stewart. I just added her to my favorite authors.
This was the best the the Enright books. The animosity between the leads in the beginning made it all the more interesting. This was set up in previous books, but does very well as a stand alone. I actually read this twice I enjoyed it so much.
Georgia Enright leaves dancing, which has been her main love most of her life. She goes to stay with her newly found sister, Laura, at Laura's inn, and meets Laura's adopted brother, Matt. She begins to fall in love with Matt, and finds her way back to dance in a new way.
This was just a nice, sweet romance. There was a little suspense, a small bit of mystery, but mostly it was about the guy and the girl. Some of it was a little predictable, but I like sweet little romances. :-)
