Not very well written. Reads like a high school term paper in which the student must write so many words. This results in repeated information. This books is more of a history of California’s central coast with a few ghost stories thrown in as afterthoughts.

I was very excited to receive this book as a gift. The premise is fun, especially since I’ve lived on the central coast for 20+ years. I was sadly disappointed with this book. It was very poorly written. Obviously, it needed a good edit and rewrite.

Very easy, pleasant read about my own neck of the woods. I very much recommend this.
The text is a compilation of stories submitted and told to the author, so sometimes there are contradictions or combined stories in a certain area because the folklore is passed around over the years. Not a scientific journal. LOL!

DNF around page 70. Atrocious writing. Clearly no one edited this text. So repetitive and disjointed that it's hard to follow what the author is trying to say.
