I really enjoyed the concept of this story and the background story within. I have not read a cozy that takes place in a bath shop like Bathhouse Row Soapery. I was intrigued to say the least. Plus, the fact that they were making their own soap and bath products as well as “potions and lotions.” The cast of characters were entertaining, and I always enjoy the challenge of trying to figure out “whodunit.”

Right before her shops grand opening, Patti, falls off a ladder and receives a concussion. When she comes too, the bump on her head has somehow, affected her ability to now see and hear ghosts. Enter Miss Fanny Doyle, Al Capone’s seamstress from back in the day. Patti hesitates to say anything, let alone acknowledge that she is seeing a ghost until it finally makes sense to her. Still, she is unwilling to confide in her best friend Sandy. In the meantime, a beautiful cabaret singer has been found dead in her bathtub while soaking with one of Patti’s bath bombs! Now the real fun begins as Patti, along with Fanny’s help, tries to solve the mystery, as well as save their shop.

I gave this book 4 Stars for the story because I truly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, there were so many misspellings and editorial errors that I would give the 4 stars for the content of the story, but 3 stars because of the errors. The author has a great series in the making, and I hope she will be more careful in the future.

When Patti’s suffers from a slight concussion while getting ready for the opening of the Bathhouse Row Soapery, she never expects to wake up seeing a ghost. It seems that seamstress Fannie owned the shop in the 1920’s and ended up murdered. All she wants is to know if her son survived without her and then she can go off to the great beyond.

Patti keeps the ghost to herself, which puts her in a number of awkward situations. Her partner Sandy and Sandy’s brother Teddy think she is talking to herself and is a bit off, but they chalk it up to the concussion. If that wasn’t bad enough, Patti sells bath bomb to a women who is later found dead. They suspect that the bath bomb included poison. Now Patti finds herself involved in solving a murder to save the soap shop.

This is the first book in the Bathhouse Row Mysteries and has all the makings of a good series. There are lots of humorous moments, funny characters, and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing whodunit until the end.

Patti was a laugh a minute whenever she would interact with Fanny. Patti and Sandy both thought Patti was losing her mind after her tumble off the ladder. Thankfully with the help of Teddy, Fanny and a few others Patti was able to solve the crime and save her business. Maybe given more information and a little more time Anita and Patti could help Fanny solve her mystery.

Pattianna "Patti" Fuqua formerly worked in the sheriff's office as a secretary. Sandy Sanderford was a former nurse. Now they were partners and co-owners in a new venture, the Bathhouse Row Soapery in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They got a great deal on rent from the building's owner, Myra Gardner. While cleaning the windows in preparation for the opening of their new store, Patti took a tumble off the ladder and wound up on the sidewalk, in a daze. Sandy told her that she probably had a concussion. What Sandy did not know was that Patti could now see and talk to a ghost named Fanny Doyle.

Shortly after opening for business, a young lady comes in. She is hesitant and very nervous. She says she is staying at the Arlington Hotel, a very exclusive establishment. She purchases some of the bath bombs and leaves the store. Outside she is met by an older man, who orders her into the car and manhandles her in the process. Later that afternoon, Etta, a young lady who also works at the Arlington, comes in looking for additional part-time work and Patti hires her on the spot. When Etta arrives the next day, she tells Patti and Sandy about finding a dead girl in a bathtub. The dead girl turns out to be Veronica Lake, the nervous young lady who had visited the shop the previous day. To make matters worse, it appeared that the cause of death was rat poison in a bath bomb.

How did Veronica really die? Was it an accident or murder? Were the bath bombs really poisoned? Who poisoned them and how? Will Patti and Sandy be able to save their shop? How will Patti explain talking to a ghost that others cannot see or hear?

This is the first book in Violet Patton's Bathhouse Row Mystery series. It is common for the first book in a series to start a little slowly, as the author lays the groundwork for the characters and this book is no exception. However, once the death of the girl is discovered, the story picks up nicely and moves right along. I expect this to be a very popular series.

I received a copy from AXP; this is my honest review.
-The concept of seeing ghosts after an accident is not new but it's fun.
-If I were to open a shop with a co-owner I would choose better than what Patti did. Sandy doesn't like people, never smiles and is bossy as hell. Teddy saved Patti a lot of $ just by doing the carpentry around. Apparently something is going on between the two but I didn't see it.
-Usually you have a sideline story (ghost's demands) plus the main story finishing at the end of the book. This one had the the murder, the sleuthing, if you can call it that, the neighbor, the problems, etc. Too many things to take care of in a short book. Plus the ghost's demands changed, depending.
-There aren't too many descriptions apart from the selling goods and the interior of the store. Who knew Patti wore the same jeans for a week? Yikes; maybe she smells as bad as Mike...
-I liked Teddy and Patti, Fanny too. I don't know what to think about Myra. The capture of Morris was a bit simplistic.
-I got distracted by the editing problems. Missing words: "I don't her boyfriend". Putting positive where negative should have been: "It was best she did watch or participate...". Missing periods here and there. Wrong tense in verbs: "He would play it cool and kept quiet since...".
-Confused: if the bombs at the store weren't tainted why keep the store closed or offer refunds?
-Silly: "I'm pooped. All this Fanny Doyle stuff is taxing". This is Sandy talking and she didn't do anything with Fanny.

This is the first book in the Bathhouse Row Mysteries and has all the makings of a good cozy mystery series. I like cozies that have a theme like crafting, and had not read one that takes place in a Bath Shop!
Who would believe Patti’s slight concussion gave her the ability to communicate with the dead?
Nobody, especially not her fussbudget partner Sandy. Who is the dead person she can see? Fanny Doyle, that’s who, a chatty Technicolor ghost who was once Al Capone’s seamstress. Why has Fanny hung around the empty shop waiting so long? She has a big problem and now that Patti can, see and talk to her, she wants help solving the mystery. With all the shop’s opening weekend bad luck has the Row’s competition put a hex on the newest soap shop on Central Avenue? A cabaret singer has been found dead in her bathtub while soaking with one of Patti’s bath bombs! Now the real fun begins as Patti, along with Fanny’s help, tries to solve the mystery, as well as save the Bathhouse Row Soapery!

There are lots of humorous moments, funny characters, and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing whodunit until the end. Unfortunately, there were misspellings and editorial errors which is the only reason why I gave it the 4 stars.

I noticed that with both of this author's series that the protagonist starts seeing ghosts. In this series, Patti's fall when she bumps her head shifts something and she is able to see Fanny Doyle, a seamstress from the 1920s. This creates some awkward moments when those around Patti think she might be a bit crazy because it looks like she is talking to herself or spouting off random sentences. I'm surprised that her friends didn't suspect something was wrong with her other than she had fallen and hit her head.

The mystery was intriguing and I wondered how it was going to play out in the end. I was a bit surprised at some of the answers to my questions but not too surprised. Of course Fanny's story isn't complete so I'm sure we'll see some more of her in the next books.

The characters are diverse and some are a bit mysterious so I hope we learn more in future books.

This was a decent enough story that I was almost willing to continue with the series. Until Ch. 15!
There is absolutely NO excuse to not check your facts when you are writing a story. Especially in this day and age.

Here they are talking about a lady who was found dead in a bathtub of a hotel, registered as Veronica Lake.
From Ch. 15) “Veronica Lake was a pseudonym for a movie star. Like… who was the woman who had her head chopped off by a truck?”
I snapped my fingers to come up with the name. “Yeah… Jayne Mansfield.” “You think it’s a fake name? Jayne had those big…?”

While yes, Jayne Mansfield DID die in the manor described. (June 29, 1967)
Veronica Lake (Constance Frances Marie Ockleman) died in the early morning hours of July 7, 1973, Veronica Lake died from hepatitis and acute renal failure

This is a cute and a fun read. Violet Patton has a way of writing descriptively and making you feel you are right in the Rowhouse shop. Sort of as if you can see and smell the bathhouse delectables and the old- timey shop. I have absolutely no idea why I felt this way. I think it was descriptive writing which was very picturesque and yet never heavily worded. It just had a really good flow.

This is a cozy and as I said it’s fun and it’s also quite humorous. So much so that a very black and white non-believing person like me had a really good time. Even with the ghostly appearance of a “sewing ghost”. Actually, wouldn’t it be fun to have your own sewing ghost who could sneakily make a few people think they got a sting by sticking a needle into their “behinds”. That would get rid of them pretty quick. (teehee).

What a marvelously comical cozey the caracters are vast in nature each complimenting the other Patti is a sweet old gal pushed into retirement from her secretarial position at the police station, Sandy a retired nurse, they put there money together to open a lovely bath bomb and lotions shop to keep themselves busy and fill in thier bank accounts. App on opening day Patti takes a fall from a latter giving her a lump on the back of her head and the ability to see the in-house ghost. This is where things begin to truly get complicated , a ghost ,a clients death and two mystery's. I know will enjoy this cozey mystery us much as I have. ☆☆☆☆ Kat

Sandy the owner of the bath shop falls and subsequently, the hit to her head gives her the ability to see a dead cabaret singer. And then the fun begins. Patti, the ghost creates havoc for Sandy as she communicates with Sandy and only Sandy. The novel is full of twists, turns, and hilarious situations. This was my first time to read a Ms. Patton novel. I was impressed with her ability to spin a yarn and keep my attention. I was sure I had the plot figured out and sure enough, the author threw in a curveball which I had not anticipated. I will be eager to read the next book in the series. Thank you for giving me a great read!

I received this book as a gift.
Patti and her friend Sandy co-own Bathhouse Row Soapery, a store that sell bath items. Patti falls off a ladder and hits her head and is able to see Fanny Doyle, a woman who died in the 1920’s. She asks Patti to help her solve her murder, but when a woman is found dead in a bath full of her bath bombs, she must solve that case to save her store.
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. It is full of colorful characters and a ghost (of course). The plot is good and it had me guessing on who the murderer was until the end. A well written book with a story that keeps you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book.

Enjoyable. I surprisingly really enjoyed this book. I didn't realize there was a paranormal element to the book, which I normally don't like, but this was a good book. Patti and her friend, Sandy, have opened a bath goods shop. After an accident falling off of a ladder, Patti can suddenly see and talk to the ghost of Fanny Doyle, a seamstress who used to have a shop there. A woman is murdered by a poisoned bath bomb and Patti and Fanny set out to find the killer and save the shop's reputation. Very interesting characters and the ghost of Fanny was charming. I might need to read more of this series to see who killed Fanny and what happened to her son.

Pattianna makes the Bath Bombs to sell in the store, a customer Veronica Lake, dies after using one of the Bath Bombs and there comes the mystery to be solved along with Fanny the ghost!

Just finished " Bath Bombs and Beyond" by Violet Patton. As I'm reading this book it keeps me thing of the bath bombs from Charmed Aroma (think that's the name). Anyway it was ga good story with murder, mayhem and ghosts. It als ends with a cliffhanger (I love cliffhangers) lets you know there will be another book.
Thanks for giving me the pleasure of reading it.
Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to the next one.

This concept was intriguing and had the ability to draw the audience in. Alas, the main characters were not terribly sympathetic and didn't come across as hero material. Also, there were editing errors that jarred. However, the premise! It's got me hooked and I'll probably delve into the series to see where this all goes. (Also, the method of murder in the story is diabolically genius.)

I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Can Pattianna successfully ignore Fanny?
Bath Bombs and Beyond by Violet Patton is an exciting book with a slight twist to the typical cozy mystery vibe.

Our heroine is Pattianna Frugo; she is also our only main character as this book is written the first person narrative. Pattianna is a retired secretary from the police force. She and her best friend are opening up a shop that sells lotion, bath bombs, salt scrubs, and everything a girl needs for a night of pampering.

We have our love interest as well another retiree from the police force this one is a detective.

For the sidekick, she is a hoot. Fanny is such a fun character and one that I enjoyed.
What I like:

I love that this book is in the first person as it made the book that much better especially when it comes to the sidekick. Fanny is such a great character especially the way she is introduced.
The mystery was pretty interesting and kept me going as that is a pretty ingenious way to kill someone.
Teddy and Patti flirt a lot. It was cute and something that they end up doing over some silly things.
Fanny hands down she is so amazing. I do feel bad for her though and what she deals with everytime Patti doesn’t want to listen to her.

What I dislike:
I didn’t like the reason behind the crime. It felt unnecessary, and I get it at the same time. The last thing I didn’t like is that the book has a few editing errors that took me out of the story.
Bath Bombs and Beyond CR IGFour Stars
Bath Bombs and Beyond by Violet Patton is a good book that just needed maybe one more edit. However, the story and the mystery were great. I am giving this novel a four-star review, and I loved it. A Bathhouse Row Cozy Mystery Series is a great new series. I will be reading the next book Found Dead in the Red Head when it is released in February.

Anyways until next time enjoy this review brought to you by,
