Naoko is a teenage girl who got bullied pretty badly in junior high (if you could call it bullying, it was pretty much torture). She is sent to a mental hospital because of it. And when escapes she swear to take revenge on those who ruined her, and anyone that stands in her way...
The story was superrrr good. But all the unnecessary gore and guts? Yeah, not so good. I'm a huge horror fan, so I was super excited to read this when it got recommended to me. And I can take some gore (I loved the saw movies after all XD) But this was just tooooooo much. There was no point to half of killing.
Naruto was a huge ass hat. Yeah, blame Naoko for being the reason why she got bullied *eye roll* You chose to torment her, and now you're paying the price. I'm definitely not feeling bad when he dies.
Actually, I've read a couple of volumes, but for the life of me I cannot remember where did I stop. Tons of guts and blood, it's gore galore. The art is so good, gnarly but weirdly beautiful, in a creepy way ofc, which is perfect.
I like the Carrie vibes and I not only support women's rights but also women's wrongs, but at the end of the day I just wasn't that into the story and I found it repetitive and empty.
This is great for those slasher cravings, and if you want realistic and gruesome art done beautifully, search no more.
This manga is wild! There is no waiting for the action or gore to kick off because it hits the ground running from the very first chapter/pages. It is gory and definitely not for the squeamish. The story revolves around this girl named Naoko who escaped from a mental asylum to exact revenge on those that bullied her in junior high and all those that stand in her way. The art is beau and I love it. It's definitely a fun slasher! Can't wait to see where the story goes! 🎃🔪
Ack I was really expecting more from this slasher serial killler manga but it's just all over the place with too many things happening at once 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
The only good thing is the art but that's about it...
The book started perfectly. Gore, horror, laugh out loud moments - the whole thing. Somewhere in the middle though... why the fuck are they using aave and the n-word??? Like, the author decided, yes, I'm going to be as racist as I possibly can. They do stop, after a fashion but then they go for weird steriotypes from other countries.
And I must emphasize this, that description of DID is false.
I found one of my friends on Goodreads reading it and I was curious. I didn't know it would be this gory but it's intriguing. I'm disturbed that I want to keep reading to find out more about this murderer.
Ottimo inizio SUPER SPLATTER!
!! review for the overall series; not just this vol !!
okay. okay i get it kinda. the premise.. is really good. a revenge story involving morally corrupt people being killed? i love it, but the way people recommend this series... isn't entirely right.
this *is* about a girl that plans to get revenge after being bullied in junior high. but that's really only the first few chapters of the overall story. instead the story is about Pumpkin Night. i won't go into extreme detail, but i'd say this instead :
Pumpkin Night is about a young girl who wants revenge after being bullied to the point of hospitalization. Through this vengeance, she becomes 'Pumpkin Night', a so-called demon from hell that escapes from the facility. Suddenly, she's agile, brutal, and out for blood. But how did she become this way, and can anyone stop her?
i wasn't expecting the turn the manga took, nor do i particularly like it. it's okay, just not what i was expecting. this manga also suffers from the lack of official translation. the popular fanmade one is so horrid; completely chock-full of racism and transphobia. it almost renders it completely unreadable. i recommend guro-man's translation on tumblr. it's a much easier read.
overall, the manga is.. decent. it's okay. i love naoko; she's a doll.
The drawings and gore are perfect. I myself can't draw gory stuff, so respect.
Dislike:
Why do classmates want to k1// the classmate? I know the girl is crazy, but still. And they all seemed fine with it immediately too. No one was like: 'Dude chill' or something.
If they really could get her GPS then the police would have already.
They literally tried to save Saki even though she looked horrible and later on even more. There is a line between alive and death and she is right in-between and for those people I wish for a silent death as they would just suffer living. But the friends are so 'nice' as they want her to stay alive no matter what. Wow.

This is the first volume and therefore the opening, introducting characters and plot. Therefore I am not that harsh on the rating. I mostly disliked it, but it seems to get an interesting turn. Perhaps the next chapter will do it for me (even though I already know what will happen as I re-read this manga, to give a review).
Edit: 14. May 2024
I changed my mind about the 2 star rating into a 1 star rating as I forgot that the first volume was the one with the sexual harassment scene/s and I got triggered by it. It was also extremely unnecessary to add.
