Emma came to Valor Lake to escape. She didn’t expect to stumble upon an ancient secret…
Sometimes, it’s easier to run from the past than confront it. Emma ran away from her former life, ending up in a far away, remote reservation called Valor Lake. It’s the complete opposite of everything she’s used to. She watches as the neighbors have an argument, and the man is kicked out. She sees that man later in a bar. A muscular, oddly intriguing person, who offers to take her fishing.
Arthur, meanwhile, knows he’s down on his luck. But there’s a new woman in town, someone who hasn’t had the opportunity yet to get to know the locals. Arthur intends to help her. For completely altruistic reasons, of course. He can take her to his favorite spot and teach her the ways of nature.
Nature sometimes has a habit of biting back, however…
Warning: This is a HEA stand alone series book that contains mature sexy content intended for 18 years and above.
Lisa Daniels is a (young) retired school teacher who resides in Miami. After five years of teaching, Lisa Daniels found that it wasn’t quite the world that she wanted to inhabit. After leaving her position, she moved to Miami. She hasn’t regretted it.
In her worlds, Lisa Daniels creates characters that go beyond the usual narrative. While they definitively include romance, Lisa Daniels strives to make the worlds more real with characters that are more than just cardboard cutouts of the genre. All of the main characters (and many of the secondary ones) have a rich history that span much longer than the stories themselves. This makes it easy to weave the stories together so that you can see characters you met in previous tales and see how they have managed since.
The Dragons of Letera is her first standalone series. Letera is a world teaming with romance, action, and stories – it is a world that Lisa Daniels loves to explore with her readers, one character at a time.
Emma weighed the pros and cons of city versus country living as she waited for the typically late bus to take her to the city, rain dripping on her through the worn roof of the bus stop. She had to switch buses during the lengthy trip to the city, and her office didn’t close up until after the bus she needed to catch had just left. The rent was cheap, but she now knew that was because she lived in the middle of nowhere! But the good part was that it was far away from her emotionally cruel family and her abusive ex, Marcus.
Arthur, in the meantime, is feeling pressure from his family to find a mate and produce an heir so that his uncle won’t try to take over their land. He just hasn’t been able to find someone. His last girlfriend was a psycho who threw out all his belongings and kept his car! The next day, Arthur borrowed his sister’s car and went to the local bar to de-stress. He spotted a blond stranger in the corner and decided to see if she was okay. After all, it was pretty early to hang out in a bar! Apparently she had seen and heard the scuffle when his girlfriend threw him out. And she had rescued the things she continued to throw out when his police friends drove him home. She invited him over to get whatever was still useable. He ended up inviting her to go fishing or hunting with him, and offered to introduce her to his sister if she was lonely.
Arthur’s conversation with Emma was bringing out his protective instincts. He appreciates her honesty and can see how lonely she is. He and Emma joined his sister, Yara, on their first fishing trip together. The siblings taught her how to cast and reel in the line to catch a type of salmon. Once she got the hang of it, she was having fun and relaxing. She caught the first one and Arthur helped her reel it in as they laughed together. But none of them realize there is danger facing all of them. Emma doesn’t yet know that her new friends are bear shifters. And the Uncle will do whatever he can to get the land. And Emma has an ex who doesn’t want her to get away from him. Where will this lead? Can Emma accept the truth she will discover about Arthur? Can he keep her safe from both families? Could their enemies cause them to move even closer together?
This is a good story and I enjoyed the character development of the main characters as they got to know each other. Grab your copy and see what’s in store for Emma and Arthur. This could be the end for them!
This is a sweet love story with a. HEA ending that shows when one door closes sometimes the entire world opens up for you.

Her parents use her and treat her awful, and her boyfriend, well he has been tearing her down for awhile. She’s starting to believe that everything is her fault and that she’s stupid. But one little flicker inside gives her enough courage to just leave.

Emma flees from her parents and her boyfriend across the US and hides in a small rural area around Valor Lake. What she is unaware of is that many of the town's inhabitants are bear shifters. Fate as well as a meddling grandmother bring her together with Arthur, oldest son of the alpha of one of three bear clans in the region Falling is easy but when Emma's family shows up again and a murder attempt on Arthur and his sister's life is made by their uncle life becomes chaotic. Highly entertaining and full of interesting characters. I am looking forward to more books of Valor Lake. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Arthur’s Mate was a great first start to a new series. I found it to be the perfect light, in-between read that gives me all the good feelings with a small dose of suspense. Emma and Arthur were both complex and strong individuals that gave the story plenty of life. I can’t wait to see what awaits this odd little Town of Valor Lake.
Arthur’s Mate is the first novella in the Bears of Valor Lake series.
Having had enough of continually being put down, made to feel like she was crazy, and a suicide attempt, Emma decided enough was enough and ran away from her mentally abusive boyfriend and her irresponsible parents. What she found there was more than she could ever imagine. Although this was an easy read with a suspenseful storyline, I felt it was a little slow in the telling. I enjoyed the characters and their interaction with each other and especially got tickled over Grandma Jackie! All in all, a solid 4 review and one I'd recommend.
This book was an okay from me. The plot paced rather slow and the romance between MCs was just okay too. Not explosive but okay. Maybe because it's not an insta lust, but I was hoping a bit more passionate and loving. The MCs love was more kinda "fall into rhythm" kinda love; not that it's not good, it's just felt off in this book for me. The details and events happened in both MCs life was taken too much of reader's attention instead of the relationship itself; ah, maybe that's why this book hadnt swept me off my feet!! Agood details though. Good details...
Arthur was a fantastic character as was Emma. Emma moved to Arthurs neck of the woods so to speak to get away from everyone. Both her parents and a boyfriend who was an A$$. Lots of action and plenty of steam made this a fast and fun read. Secondary characters were also likable and some stood out. An HEA to this story made it even better. Loved it I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received.
Authur’s Mate is book one in the new series Bears of Valor Lake by author Lisa Daniels. I honestly do not know how you do it-you create a new world of magical creatures that sounds possible. Real - as though they can and could be our neighbors. Anywho, Authur’s Mate is fascinating and incredibly entertaining. You’ll definitely want this one in your library. Enjoy!!

Sweetly thrilling, action packed and emotional romantic adventure filled with unknown danger, shocking secrets and heart pounding passion.... enjoyed every exciting twist and turn.
Emma ran to Valor Lake to start over and escape the past.... Arthur is under family presser to find a mate and produce an heir, but has not had much luck.... The banter is witty, the action sexy, the thrills dangerous and it all makes for a highly entertaining evening.
Beginning of a new bear shifter series. From the title you can easily tell who is going to get the lady but that isn’t always easy. The woman is running from family and an abusive ex. But meeting this bear family will be the start she needs. I loved the grandmother in this story. She is definitely a character. A fast love story where you know when you meet the right person. Some bear fighting and some mild bedroom scenes.
I enjoyed reading this book 📚, Emma with her family problems and ex- boyfriend not wanting to leave her alone and then Arthur and his big interfering family. Their story is entertaining, I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
A new series called Bears of Valor Lake it is a quick fast read of 98 pages, I will be looking for the next book in this series. Human Emma and Bear shifter Arthur both have enemies in their lives. A story of villains on both sides, drama, suspense, danger, and romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Arthur's Mate is a fast paced, emotional read about Emma who has left an abusive relationship and Arthur a bear shifter. Love the witty banter and the steamy chemistry between Emma and Arthur. This is an entertaining story full of drama, suspense, action, twists and turns and a great HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It was amazing couldn't put it down. I'm glad I had a chance to read this for an honest review. If you are into reading shifters books then this is a good one two people starting over found each other. Almost losing each other. I give it a 5+++

A well written fast paced shifter romance. It is a short read but has a nice storyline and plot. Two main characters that are likeable and well described. They have both got a lot from their past to handle but can they make it work together despite of all the others who wants them not to succeed? Captivating and engaging read.
This story was interesting, and the author did a good job of informing us of her shifter world without taking away from the story. I was disappointed in the ending, because it took away from the character of Arthur. Emma is a victim of bullying, but Arthur helps her stand up for herself. This makes me believe Emily will grow in character, now that she has taken initiative in her life.
This is a well written shifter story with good characters. The was a little too much angst for my liking. That is just me. I would encourage everyone who likes shifter stories to give this one a chance, you might like it. There is a lot of family dynamics to get through in this one. Give it a chance.
arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.Emma is from Phoenix Arizona and runs to valor lake.where she first sees Arthur, but then troubles comes. Awesome story 10 stars
I liked this fast-paced shifter read. Both Emma and Arthur have a lot of baggage. When they meet at a bar, sparks fly. Will Emma and Arthur get past the people who want to keep them apart and find their HEA? Entertaining read with plenty of drama and great chemistry. I really liked it.
Instead of a hero who saves her, the focus of this story is more a true hero, who helps her save herself, and him. The action is believable, the characters developed. I really enjoyed the story, and it was a quick read.
Good book, a well written short story, I would have liked to see more detail, sometimes short stories are just too short for the amount of information writers try to put into them.
I really enjoyed this book. Arthur, a bear shifter, finds Emma drinking in a bar. The story develops well and family dynamics abound. This is a real page-turner
Cute story, starting over is never easy! Great plot, cute heroes and lots of fun, adventure and surprises! Turns out love can be found anywhere, if you give it a chance! Quirky grandma and all! ,
