Well.... Obviously this was written for the silver screen. It's meant to be a movie, from the conversations, to the visualizations, to the timeframe.
At first glance, it was super fun to read this series... but if you spend ANY amount of time thinking about it, the whole thing falls apart pretty quick.

My biggest grievance is how painfully convenient things are. Need a fire extinguisher to break some glass, bingo, right there. Need everyone to be able to understand each other? Bam, universal translation..... Need motorcycles with sidecars? I don't know about you, but I can't remember the last time I saw a motorcycle with a sidecar. Continued in spoilers section.

Spoilers-ish

So, it's the Borge, meets a Zombie apocalypse. Like, not even kind of the Borge... almost plagiaristic of the Borge.
I'm pretty sure Orcas don't try to eat people right off the bat.
Seriously... the ways in which Chloe is altered seem to be perfect for universal translation, piloting alien devices, and developing super human powers? The convenience of this is just a bit too much.
Why are all the adults cowards? (excluding the bike gang)
How in the heck has the whole world divided into gangs and factions and created communities that are already starting to work with agriculture, in... what? 3 days? I think I need a better timeframe here because from what I can tell... it's been 3 days to a week from first conversion of humans to when the gang finds the "Survivors".
Why does everyone automatically hate the one guy who has made a cure? Just because he maybe kind of hints at working for a legal drug company? That's really not a reason to hate someone who could potentially save the human race.
Why in the world would Cub so quickly want to kill Luna, even when they have a guy who is actively working on a cure, and she could probably just be dosed again?
So much logic is thrown out the window I kind of want to bang my head against a wall.
But hey... at least they let the dog live! I wouldn't have forgiven them if they killed the dog.

“Return" by Morgan Rice is the fourth book in "The Invasion Chronicles" series, and it is a science fiction thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The book is set in a post-apocalyptic world where aliens have invaded Earth, and the remaining humans are fighting for their survival. It follows the story of Kevin and Chloe as they try to survive alone in outer space, and Luna, who is on planet Earth trying to avoid capture. All hope seems lost for Kevin and Chloe as their escape pod hurtles into nothingness, as they run out of rations and supplies.

One of the things that I loved about this book is the character development. Morgan Rice has done an excellent job of creating characters that are relatable and realistic.

The plot of the book is fast-paced and action-packed. There is never a dull moment, and the story keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The author has done an excellent job of creating a world that is both terrifying and fascinating. The alien invasion is described in vivid detail, and the author has created a sense of urgency that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The writing style of the book is also excellent. Morgan Rice has a way of writing that is both descriptive and engaging. The book is easy to read, and the author has done an excellent job of creating a world that is both believable and captivating. However, one slight negative I found was that the audiobook narrator for this book was different than the first 3 books, and not as good.

Overall, I would highly recommend "Return" by Morgan Rice to anyone who loves science fiction and action-packed thrillers. The book is well-written, the characters are relatable, and the plot is engaging. If you are looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you.

I was lucky enough to be given this book, here is what I think...an enjoyable fantasy science-fiction adventure with plenty of action and enough thoughts and feelings to make the characters believable.

It's fast-paced with interesting characters, and though it's for a younger readership, I think all ages would enjoy it.

There are battles, good v evil, alternate philosophies and is psychologically intriguing...what would we do in the face of an alien invasion?

It has themes such as control, power, death, fatal illness, love, jealousy and many more.

A good conclusion to the story.

Recommended.

I am always on the look out for a fast paced series to get me jumping or should I say walking faster as I do my daily constitutional. I selected The Invasion Chronicles without a lot of research. I was not familiar with the author Morgan Rice so I thought I would take a chance. What could be wrong with science fiction, aliens invading the earth, and even zombies (?) being involved.

I will be brief on this and the other three books in the series because of these books was in itself was brief. When you have teenagers discovering an alien threat what else can you do. That's book 1.

Book 2 tells us Kevin is a pawn, but is he also going to be the savior of the world? Keep reading to find out.

Book 3 shows the terrible side of The Pure. What will happen to Kevin? What will happen to all the other races in the universe? What will happen to Earth? I can't wait to find out. Can you?

In am not surprised in the least that three 13 and 14 year olds are able against all odds are able to lead the earth and perchance the universe in defeating The Pure. What did surprise me is that two out of the three want to go back to just being teenagers. What author in his right mind would think think that teenagers would want to just go back to school and go through the angst of being who they are when they could lead the world. Hey, they even had the President of the United States wanting their help.

Comments regarding audiobook narration:

I've finished the series and enjoyed it. Unfortunately the last audio book "Return" was narrated by a British gentleman and he was awful, awful, awful. Totally offensive, the way he tried to mimic the voices of the young girls and the main character (13 year old boy) . I have no idea why he was hired to narrate this book. The characters are from California! At first, I had to check that I checked out the right book as I knew that the main characters were from California and I had to force myself to listen to it. Finally, I gave up and did not finish the book.

Took a bit longer than I expected but I got there in the end. This was and is a superb series for sci-fi fans of all ages. The ending was a little bittersweet but I think it was the right one. To all those "age group" detractors I will simply say: get over yourselves! Whether a character is thirteen or thirteen-hundred (HOW old was Elrond supposed to be?) as long as the narrative is readable you'll have a good story in front of you.

Just try reading this with an open mind!

What an amazing series of books. By far my favorite series by Morgan Rice. You could not find a better mild Syfy series anywhere. Great story to!d by a master story teller. The characters are well developed . The plot keeps you glued to the book. A true page turner. An incredible journey that you might have to read a second time. Great climatic ending to a great series. Read these books.

Fantastic

This is the third series of books by Morgan Rice that I have read. They are all so varied and brilliantly put together, from sword and sorcery to Dragons and on to science fiction. All worlds and characters so real . I find it difficult to put one of Morgan's books down until it's finished. A fantastic author and visionary.

I don't think this book was meant for some one over sixty but I ended up reading the whole series in a little over a week. I loved all the characters and it was nice reading a book with such innocents. I" like my thirteen year old grandson to read it. I think he would really enjoy it.

I wasn't disappointed with this at all. Although I've read a few reviews in which people say that the four books should have been one, I personally think reading four books is easier than reading a book with 800 pages (considering each book has about 195-200 pages).

The whole series was great, and I would definitely recommend it to any 10-13 year old who wishes to step into the sci-fi genre but doesn't want to be too obsessed about it. The books were all fast-paced and had clear plots, and the characters were people you can easily root for.

I really hated what happened to Ro (it was like Fred Weasley all over again) but I'll get over it hopefully.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The pacing was very good and I was so curious about what would happen next.

The characters had some personal growth as the book progressed, which was nice, and Chloe's character grew on me. I actually started to like her more and more.

Luna was so strong and determined to save not just her friends, but the whole planet.

I liked General s’Lara and her people. Especially their willingness to help Kevin, Chloe and Luna save Earth. I wish there was more information given about them.

The ending was nice. I'm glad that everyone finally got their happy ending

I read The Invasion Chronicles series as a four-part book (Transmission #1, Arrival #2, Ascent #3, Return #4) by Morgan Rice. Kevin is an 13-year-old ordinary kid except he is dying from a brain disease. That disease allows him to hear radio transmissions warning of an enemy that has destroyed their world and is now on its way to Earth. Kevin with his best friend Luna contact the SETI director who takes them to NASA. There Kevin convinces them he’s telling the truth.
The ending was a bit pat as it’s a bit naive to think Luna and Kevin could go back to being kids. Otherwise it’s a well written, lots of exciting action in a four-part series for an older middle grade reader or older.

I love this genre, and enjoyed this series. It is written for a younger age group, so I think the reader must remember that. Im older but still loved the characters and story. It did bother me some that the narrator was different on the last book because I got use to the previous voice. Although this narrator did a great job… I loved Bobby and continued to be concerned for him like I was in the previous books.

Good end to this series (which I originally thought was a trilogy), my bad. The first two books were the best of this series, by far. This seemed to labor on a bit too long but the story finally ended. I think this series should have been wrapped up in three to avoid a lot of the unnecessary frivolity in books 3 and 4. Still love the author and the world though.

The end. Kevin, Luna, and Chloe save the world and galaxy. Kevin gets the girl and Luna is large and in charge. Chloe gets to roam the universe. After a long hard struggle, the hive is defeated and the world is saved. Leave it to the Kids to save the world. It was a great series and enjoyed reading it. The sci-fi had a happily ever after.

A change for Morgan Rice. The Invasion Chronicles need to be read in order. Everything fell into place and made for an easy read. We all wonder how alien life contact will happen and go. This is a good telling of that for all ages.

Good escapist young adult fiction. However the best thing about concluding this Morgan Rice series is that it only had 4 books. Her books can be fun to read but it can be taxing to read (and suffer cliffhanger after cliffhanger) almost 20 books before getting to the end.

This author has an imagination beyond anything I have ever read. I read the first book of the series and had to download the other three books. I could not put them down. They kept me on the edge of my seat. I just had know what would happen to these three kids as they go on this worldly journey.
