Yearning for Your Love

Rate this book
Toni Johnson's life was a fairytale. She had the dream guy, dream job, and dream house until her fiancé, Mekhi, leaves her without warning. While trying to put the pieces of her heart back together, Toni travels home to visit her family, where she plans to mend the estranged relationships she created. One person she doesn't plan on mending her relationship with is her high school crush turned ex-lover, Zain.

Zain Murphy had no intentions of being in love nor being in a relationship. Focusing solely on his contracting business and football, he simply had no time to devote to a woman, until he hears his first love will be returning home. His unconventional relationship with Toni was the only taste of love he'd ever known. Him leaving for college put an end to them before they knew it. Now older and wiser, Zain knows Toni is the woman he wants. The only problem is, Toni wants nothing to do with him.

Their yearning for one another becomes stronger than the forces pulling them apart. Toni knows her heart lies with Zain, but she's still healing from being left by Mekhi. Will she be able to overcome her heartache and give her and Zain the chance they deserve?

Real kind of love!

Zain and Toni had that real love! You know the kind that's set free and if it's meant to be it comes back around type of love. The kind of love that everybody be rooting for. What they had was special and undeniable. I loved how it felt like they just pick right back up from where they left off! My favorite part was when they danced together. Something about that moment was just adorable!!! This was a great read and it really snatched my heart at the end😍

Have mercy!!!

Be still my heart!!! That Zain is in a league all on his own. The way that man felt about Toni I felt it in my soul. Such an amazing novella. I also love a story where the brother doesn’t trip that his friend wants to be with his sister. Warms my heart. I really really really hope this is not the end of Zain and Bunni’s adventure. I just need more of their love.

Sweet

I love stories about finding your way back to true love. Thank goodness God intervened and ended one situation so open her up for where she needed to be. Beautiful story!

Second Chance!

This was a quick, super sweet story about giving the first love of your life a second chance. I think in Zain and Toni’s case, it was more about them needing to grow up and learn their own identities separately before having all the tools and joining together in a happy, healthy relationship.

They were so freaking cute together and it was clear that it should have always been them. I also really liked the secondary characters and hope that we hear more from in the future.

D. Rose has found her lane and hit her stride as an author. This is her third release and she produces characters with a story that you’ll want to read.

Rekindling love

Yearning for Your Love by D. Rose is about cancer research data analyst Toni Johnson and contractor Zain Murphy. Toni’s fiancé breaks up with her via email, she’s distraught and decides to visit her hometown. She is able to reconnect with her older brother Trent with the dissolution of her relationship. Her ex-fiancé alienated her from her family. Toni and Zain grew up together, Zain is her brother’s best friend. Toni and Zain were in love with each other when they were younger but never were official. This was a cute read, I wish we had been able to spend more time with Toni and Zain.

Cute 2nd Chance Story

I liked this book. I just wish that it was a little longer so that we get to know Zain and Toni a little better. It’s a good read, and I definitely recommend it.

I loved this story!!

I loved how this story had a huge family dynamic to it. It showed just how quickly we can claimed that the actions of another is done out of love when in reality it isn't. I want to kick Mehki's ass for doing Toni the way that he did. She didn't deserve it but her story shows the importance of letting something go in order for greater to come your way. I would love to learn more about Berkeley because her story intrigued me. I want to know what really happened to her besides the accident. I loved how Zain and Toni were able to reconnect as friends and lovers and really truly communicate and get it together!! Great l9ve story!!

Sweet story!

This was a really sweet story. I like how both Zain and Toni had to mature to appreciate what they had and how it was what they were searching for apart from each other.

Needs More

Good characters, nice premise, and I was loving the pacing of the story, but with no warning, the ex-fiancee, Mekhi, shows up in her hometown begging her to take him back after dumping her by email, packing up his stuff and moving out, ignoring Toni for the past month with nothing but a "sorry." And when did him supposedly trying to get in touch with her take place because that lil scene was out of place and messed up the flow of the story? And why didn't we find out why he dumped her in the first place?! Did he have a secret baby, was he dying, was she too clingy?! What?! And it doesn't make since that a man would manipulate his woman into alienating her family and friends (what was his end goal for that?) and then just dump her that way. Too many unanswered questions...

Then a misunderstanding separated Toni and Zain, which was ridiculous because they both were being stubborn and childish. And it's not like they spent that much time together anyway. I wanted to see them reconnect...feel that chemistry and passion that was explored between them in their younger days reignite, but it wasn't really enough time spent on Zain and Toni. We just had to take their word for it that the love was still there and grew stronger. I felt we got more connected with the side characters. I would love to revisit this couple and get deeper into their relationship.

I usually love D. Rose’s books but this one fell flat for me. Toni’s break up with Mekhi left so many unanswered questions. The way he broke up with her was completely devastating but it felt like it was glossed over like it was no big deal.

I loved Toni’s relationship with her brother. She needed someone in her corner after going through her breakup and Trent was the perfect person for that.

You know who wasn’t the perfect person for that…or her for that matter? Zain. That man was so insufferable I have a hard time understanding why Toni wanted to be with him. I get him being young and not wanting to be in a relationship but instead of telling the girl he claim he loved more than anything, he strung her along until she got tired then blamed her for their demise. Yeah she could’ve spoke up before distancing herself but from what it sounds like, he did not deserved that.

Zain walking in on Toni talking to Mekhi and getting his panties in a bunch instead of talking to her like rationale adult really solidified to me that effective communication was not his strong suit. Like who walks in on the supposed love of their life talking to their ex and walks off before getting a full understanding of the situation. THEN IGNORES THEM FOR MONTHS. Stubborn ass Zain, that’s who.

Toni better than me because I would’ve told that overgrown child to kiss my as…sets.

This one didn’t do it for but I finished. So there’s that.

Nice second chance read

Yearning for Your Love was a nicely written, short romance about second chances. Toni was just getting over a breakup and seemed to fall right back in with her high school love, Zain. There were several instances of repeated words, but otherwise no complaints. There just wasn’t enough spark/space between these two...from the rip they behaved like a married couple in need of an adventure.

It's all about timing!

Toni and Zain got together at the right time. When they both had experienced a bit of life, and gained the maturity to work at being good for each other. Had they tried to stay together when they were younger, the relationship would in all likelihood have failed miserably. Glad they got timing right, it was a good read. If not for a few editing issues, it would have been five stars!

Yearning for More

Finding this author in a book club I went in blind to what the storyline was, that may have been a bad call.
Great bones to a story that will keep you engaged but a bit confusing to follow along. Had multiple questions on who someone was or the why behind the what of a story line. I would definitely check out more from this author cause I want to know what happens to the cast but i dont know if I'd ever re-read this one.

Second Change at Love😍😍

I enjoyed reading Zain and Toni's love story. I felt her pain the way that her ex fiancé ended their relationship through an email without giving her a reason. It's good that she had a good support system with her friend and family. I'm glad that she reconnected with Zain and they got their relationship on the right track.

Perfect Timing

All things work together for the greater good. This love story had me all mushy and giddy. Mekhi was the typical ninja, but Toni showed his tale. I'm looking forward to more reads from this author. I enjoyed this book very much. Where is Zain though? Asking for myself!

Yearning for Your Love

Toni & Zain were destined to be together. Mekhi was just a seat filler. We still never found out what he broke up with her via email & why he thought he could just walk back into her life & resume his position. Cherise was exactly the type of friend she needed. To sympathize but also tell her the truth.

Good Book

No one ever forgets their first love. It took a break up for Trinity to realize that Mehki was not the man for her. When she finally went back home to visit her family reconnecting with her first love Zain showed her that Mehki was not the man for her. She lost who she was by doing everything for this man. I love that her and Zain got back together.

Toni, Toni, Toni

All the signs were there. Toni should've run for the hills the second Mehki changed. But hindsight is 20/20. Zain and Toni knew they were meant for each other, they just had to ride through some pitfalls on the road to each other.

Great read I wonder why Mekhi broke up with Toni. Zig and Bunni as they called each other is the relationship where if you love something let it go if it's meant to be it will be.

Great love story. Happy Toni recognized her worth. Zain was acting like an idiot for not giving Toni the opportunity to explain what happen with Mekhi. Toni had a great loving family. A must read.

Sweet Story

A second chance love story! I love how close Bunni’s family was. Her Ex was a jerk and I would’ve loved to read more about why he did what he did. This book is reminder to always have your own because you can’t control anyone’s heart or the actions. Great read!!!

Good read!

Communication is key to all successful relationships. This couple by not sharing their feelings, let to years of resentment; all due to not talking. I really like Zain. Was a bit frustrated with him at times, but that makes the story right? Enjoyed it. 👍👍

Incomplete

This book has potential but it did nothing for me. It was more like a young adult book. It touched on many topics but didn't explore them deep enough. I got nothing from this story when I wouldn't read it again.
