It’s time for Siasi to go to bed, but she doesn’t want to brush her teeth or put away her toys. It’s so much more fun to play with all the animals of the Arctic! Wouldn’t everyone rather dance with polar bear, howl with the wolves, and swim with the fish instead of get ready for bed? In this charming bedtime story, readers follow Siasi on a nighttime adventure as she comes up with excuse after excuse for why she’s not quite ready to go to bed.
If you were in Siasi's situation, you might not want to go to bed either. While an adult urges her to complete her nighttime rituals and prepare for sleep, Siasi has plenty of reasons not to do so. After all, she would rather engage in active play with a polar bear, a caribou, the geese, the wolves, the rabbits, and the fish, complete with all sorts of movement and sounds, than head off to bed. Eventually, she's run through all her excuses and agrees to sleep. The story is charming with its repetitive language, and Siasi's slightly sassy attitude. A couple of pages make it seem as though all of this is her imagination, using her stuffed animals as stand-ins for the real Arctic animals who then fill her bedroom and watch over her while she snoozes. I liked this gentle twist on the usual bedtime stories.
A Native/First Nations child does NOT want to go to bed, but instead, wants to howl like the wolves and fly like the geese. Introduces some great Arctic animal and is a fabulous interactive bedtime book for toddler and preK storytimes.
This book is so delightful! I read it in toddler storytime and everyone adored it. We howled and flapped our wings and had so much fun. I also took it home to my child. It's a perfect diverse book - introducing Arctic animals and a small Native/First Nations child. Everything is familiar (going to bed) and new (running with Caribou). My Alaskan audience loved that they recognized all the animals. But I would read this to any child, anywhere, it is universal. The illustrations are beautiful, full of life and movement. The last page with the little girl dancing with the polar bear - I want that as a print please!
Dance with a polar bear, run with the caribou, and howl with the wolves as Siasi stalls throughout her bedtime routine. Kids will love playing along and adults will smirk at Siasi's control over bedtime. In the end, with the patience of the caregivers, even the most stubborn children succumb to sleep.

This book is so much fun! It's bedtime but Siasi doesn't want to go to bed, she wants to dance with polar bears and howl with wolves. As Siasi gets ready for bed we have lots of opportunities to act out the story with her. This would be a great group read aloud with preschoolers who have lots of energy! Fly with the geese and hop with the rabbits together as we learn a little bit about arctic animals and have a lot of fun. Definitely recommended!

It's Time For Bed is a wonderfully cute little picture book about being too imaginative to sleep (little me definitely could have related to this, and perhaps adult me does more than she likes as well). The story is cute and sweet and the illustrations are as well. Recommended!
So many things I love about this book! I love the repetition and the movement and sounds involved, as well as the bright illustration. Also written by a Canadian Indigenous author. Can't wait to use it in storytime. Can be used for many themes: noise, movement, bedtime
This is a charming tale of a young Inuit child who wants to play with animals instead of getting ready for bed. Very interactive, will definitely encourage participation. The illustrations are darling.
Great Canadian story about trying to get to bed but coming up with all the excuses. The character Siasi is an adorable illustration that adds to this cute story.
A girl did not want to go to bed. During her nightly routine, there are different animals. I thought the animal illustrations were good, but I wasn't super into three story.
